I liked that Bill came out very soon and was very punctual. He was having a time constraint needed to have my decks cleaned and treated. He was the only one happy to work with me to get this done for my event. His team was here when they said would be. They were very polite. It was just incredible from the time I met Bill till the end of the job. I would definitely recommend them to other members.

Beautiful work! A crew arrived on Thursday and worked to clean the deck with scrub brushes (no pressure washer). The next week, they came and sanded down all the deck boards and tops of the railings. It took four guys all day to sand and sweep the deck. The next day, they stained all the surfaces using Cabot semi-solid stain. It just takes one coat, but again it took four guys all day (9 hours) with a short lunch break. These guys were so hard working, professional and attentive to detail. I really appreciate their work ethic. Even though it was hot, they continued to work through it and never stopped for breaks. The finished result is amazingly beautiful. The previous company who cleaned and stained our deck pressure washed it and it really scarred the wood. They also used a water-based stain and used two coats (like we had previously done ourselves). This oil based semi-solid stain is really beautiful and the finished product is fantastic! Thank you to Bill and your team of hard workers. UPDATE spring 2014 Although the initial work was good, our finish has not lasted. I contacted Bill last summer to let him know that one year after the project that the stain was wearing off. Also, in one area that we had scrubbed to get oil off with a deck brush and mild dish soap and water, the stain also came off. For the amount of money we spent, the finish has not lasted and Bill did not offer to do anything to repair it. In the past, we have hired contractors for $2,000 to clean and stain the deck. For the amount of money we spent on this job, we expected a lot more.
Description of Work: They cleaned, sanded, and stained a very large deck with stairs. They pulled off the old lattice and replaced it with heavy-duty privacy screen and also stained that to match.

The crew just left and it looks beautiful. The leader of the crew told us if we spot any spots that might have been missed, to please call Bill and he'd send a crew out to take care of it for us. He then proceeded to tell us how long before we could put any furniture back on it, and suggested if we had any metal furniture to put a furniture pad under it to protect the deck from scratches (which would cause damage to the sealant), just as you do with furniture on your hard wood floors inside. He made sure we had no questions and again reminded us to call Bill if we had any questions or comments in the coming days. From beginning to end, this was a very professional, not to mention polite, group of people to work with. I would highly recommend this company to any of my friends or family. I have to say one additional thing...initially, I thought the price was higher than I had expected and went with this company because I liked their process (no power washing) and I liked the sealant they used. But once I saw how hard these kids worked, how much effort went into the HAND cleaning and sanding, how meticulous they were in applying the sealant, I understand the price...and that's not even factoring in the cost of the quality sealant. The old adage you get what you paid for is certainly true in case.
Description of Work: A few weeks ago I had scheduled to have Bill come out and give me a bid to clean and stain both of our decks. He explained in detail their process to clean the decks ( hand washing and then sanding the floors and top of rails), as well as explained the stain/sealant product he uses and why he uses this particular brand. His bid gave an itemized list of what would be done and the prices for each step. When I called to schedule the work, Bill explained that they schedule their jobs on Friday, and that he would call me back to let me know when he'd have a crew come out. He called on Saturday and said they would come on Thursday to clean and sand the decks, and Friday would be when the sealant would be applied. Yesterday the crew came and began work promptly at 9:00 a.m. They were 3 of the nicest young men it was ever our pleasure to work with. Each time I glanced outside to see how things were progressing, they were all hard at work. After washing the decks, they broke for lunch and returned an hour later to do the sanding of the deck planks and the tops of the railings. One worked the floor sander and two worked the hand sanders, until they quit at 5:30 for the day. They returned today at 9:00 to finish sanding the lower deck steps and then began the sealant application, which they finished around 3:15. Seriously, I am not their mother or own any part of the company, though it probably sounds like it...but a good work ethic is sometimes hard to find now-a-days, so when you see it in action, you kind of get blown away.

His crew (3) came right on time at 9:00 a.m. and got right to work. His crew included the nicest , hardworking young men. I was very impressed. After a couple of hours another crew member arrived to do the wood work. They were all very businesslike. and especially Weston, the foreman. The work was finished that day. My deck looks great and I am so happy to have it done. I won'd hesitate to call them again in the future or to recommend them.
Description of Work: Bill Crumby came to the house to give me an estimate for the work to be completed. He said that it might take 3 weeks before he could get to my deck because of the poor weather. The deck was in poor shape. We discussed replacing a few boards, sanding, and applying oil-based finish to the deck. I agreed to the estimate. I then got a call from Bill asking if they could come out on August 2 and do the work because there had been some changes to the schedule. I said fine.

Our overall experience went well. Bill indicated that he had several jobs booked ahead of ours, due to the late arrival of summer. Once it was our turn, Bill contacted us on a Monday to let us know that he would start the job on Tuesday. His crew arrived and worked hard over the next 2 days. The first day, the crew replaced a couple boards and sanded the deck. The second day, they finished sanding and stained the deck. They wrapped up their work by 5pm on the second visit. We are very pleased with the result. Our deck looks like new.
Description of Work: We bought our home in early 2010 and has a large deck. I believe our deck is about 20 years old and needed a little TLC. I researched several companies on A-List and had 3 companies bid on restoring our deck. All 3 companies responded quickly and provided competitive bids. While Bill's quote was the most costly, he seemed the most experienced. We decided to go with him to sand and stain our deck. The quote also included replacing a few boards and resetting some exposed nails.

Bill Crumby came to my home in mid-May and gave me a quote for deck cleaning, and told me he would be back in touch to schedule a service date. Several weeks later, having heard nothing, I called him to inquire about the schedule. He said he would be back in touch with me on Friday, his day to schedule jobs. A month goes by and I call him again. He has no record or recall of the job, the quote or even me being a customer! After giving him the details of his visit, he tells me he will call me on Friday. That was three Friday's ago! What has happened to this company that there would be such a turn-around in the quality of their service. I don't know, but I'm not going to waste anymore time with them!
Description of Work: I used Deck Rejuvenations two years ago for deck maintenance, before I knew they were an Angie's List Super Service Award winner, and had a very positive experience. I was expecting the same level of service when I found the company on Angie's List this year, but my experience was so different! There was never any follow-up to my calls after I received a quote for services! What a disappointment!

Overall experience was terrific. Within 48 hours of my phone call, Bill visited my house and gave me a quote. Within a week the work was done, in time for me to surprise my wife upon her return from a business trip. The work was completed in 1 day with no surprises. The team was very clean - not a single drop of stain splashed on the house siding or patio beneath the deck. And a top notch quality job. This is the 3rd time we have refinished our deck, and without a doubt this is the best job we have seen. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: My wood deck was in need of refinishing. After only 2 years the Behr finish I had used before had peel and flaked off leaving 50% of the surface exposed. Deck Rejuvenations sanded and refinished the deck, railing, and fascia. They used one of Cabot's deck finishing products. They also moved all the deck furniture (including a 60" stainless steel gas grill) into my garage for no extra charge.

These guys did an incredible restoration on a very neglected deck. It looks great and I'm now inspired to look after it. Bill was very blunt during the sales process making sure I clearly understood what to expect, and the finished product was just as promised. The two guys who did the work were polite, professional, and extremely detail oriented. They showed up on time, and in spite of being short one crew member, they put in a very long day to finish the deck in one day as promised. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: The deck had been neglected for 5 years, and looked it. The process was almost like refinishing an interior hardwood floor - they sanded it down, replaced a damaged board, cleaned between the boards, and applied stain to the deck and the railing. It looks 1000 times better, and the surface is once again bare foot friendly.

It's a twenty year old deck which we've been taking care of consistently. Other than the weather getting in the way, they sanded it and waited a couple of weeks before they could stain it. The weather cooperated and they did a very professional job. Bill Cumby the company owner was very professional and did a good job. They quoted us a fair price. The quality of work, professionalism and price was good among the bids that I got. We got two decks because our whole backyard is decked, so could probably be more than twelve hundred square feet. We got five bids and he was right in the ballpark of all the bids that we got.

I had Bill go to my mother's house to address the front porch because it was very slippery when wet. This was caused by mold or mildew. I knew that this wasn't the best time of year to do this kind of work, but Bill waited for a dry day and then got right on it. Previously Bill had refinished my deck so I knew he was professional and competent.

Both homeowners experienced a high degree of professionalism from beginning to end. This includes the owner and the work crew. The work performed was as agreed and according to the written estimate. We would definitely use this company again and recommend them to one and all.
Description of Work: We actually spent $1,000.00 each for two houses. Each house had two sizeable deck areas. Each area had to be sanded and stained. In addition one of the houses needed a complete re-painting of the railing. All was completed thoroughly with workmanship of the highest standards.

Bill came out to the house in Tigard for an estimate within 24 hours of my phone call. He showed me through a little sanding and staining how my deck would look, transforming a section right before my eyes. It was great to watch the process before I booked him. He is not an advocate of power washing and he explains why. He had pictures of before and after shots of different kinds of stains to show why the Sikkens product he uses has the most durability. He doesn't use harsh chemicals which suited me just fine, being I have a backyard wildlife habitat. After giving me a bid, I gasped because it was significantly higher than two other bids. But when I asked "How long before you need to come out again and rejuvenate again?" His answer was 8-10 years, instead of the 2-3 year answers I got from the guys that power washed and used different products (and chemicals). Bill also suggested I do some work on the deck to save some money - mostly cleaning between boards (flossing) and cleaning the mold and mildew off. This saved me $365 off the price. Through the process of cleaning my own deck, I found several boards had rotted. I measured and marked the boards needing replacement and let Bill know what he needed to get. I also washed the house and gutters prior to Bill's team showing up. This gave a fresh clean surface so I'd know if they left it the way it was. My deck is shaded and there's lots of debris and buildup. It was so bad that Bill had to rewash it before sanding. And then after sanding, there was still green in the boards, which he told me was mold which would continue to grow, even with stain on it, making the stain blacken. They had to wash it again with a 30-Second bleach cleaner and then use a whitening product on it. Not so chemical free anymore, but Bill made sure to spray down the plants and they all survived. Between the cooler weather and some days of rain, the process took about 6 days, which was ok with me. I trusted Bill that by waiting and letting everything dry well, we'd get better results in the long run. The before and after on my deck is a major metamorphosis. Between the extra cleaning and the board replacement, the initial bid of $2500 went up to $2900. Bill was always clear with me when adding costs. I just wanted it done right, and that's exactly what he did. Another bonus was Bill teaches you how to care for the deck within the 8-10 years before he needs to come back. With proper maintenance, cleaning, and simple staining on my own, I'll be able to keep my deck looking nice. My only critique would be that sometimes it took Bill too long to get back to my emails. But once he started working on the project, his response was much more punctual.
Description of Work: Deck Rejuvenations completely overhauled my 410 sf deck surface, from cleaning, to board replacement, to sanding, staining & railing painting. It had never been done professionally since it was built 10 yrs ago, and it was so slippery when wet that it was a liability. Just too dangerous to walk on in the wet season. Bill and his team worked diligently and thoroughly.

Overall they did a good job. The first day was general cleaning; the second day sanding & staining. We were expecting them to return the 3rd day, but they didn't show, prompting me to leave Bill a message, "that the crew may think they are done, but the cleanup is poor, at best; @ the front porch, there is sawdust all over an adjacent air conditioning unit; the rear patio has lots of sawdust, along w- stain drippings on the concrete; they missed stain on a railing". Bill called me to let me know the job supervisor would be out that day at 6:00. I arrived at 5:30 & the supervisor was already there, basically already arguing w- my wife about the work. After looking over the work, I found other areas of missed stain of railings, stair stringers & ledgers at the rear deck & the front porch stair ledgers. At several points in our "conversation" I suggested we call Bill to resolve the issues, w- the supervisor ageeing, but after further discussion, this never came to fruition. Some of the issue surrounded that Bill's quote did not include the rear stair stringers. So I asked him to have Bill get me a quote for the extra work via fax, as I wasn't looking for "something for nothing". I never received that fax. The next day I arrived at 6:00 to find they had already done the done the extra work without authorization. All I could figure is that Bill authorized the extra work to get the job "fixed & done right". In any case, they did correct all the problems, including cleaning up all the stain drips on the concrete patio. Through all the "problem resolution", I found that all the crew under the supervisor were "trainees" & that the "supervisor" had 3 months of supervisory experience! So this would explain a job that could have been better. As I wasn't present during the work, I also questioned whether all the areas they said were sanded indeed were sanded. I still question that but said I wasn't going to press the issue. All in all, I am happy w- the end result, but would recommend the "supervisor" get training in customer relations, & never allow an argumentive situation to transpire w- the customer.
Description of Work: Clean rails on rear deck, front porch & porch stairs; sand rail caps/ deck boards all/ rear deck stairs & stain all. Rear deck over daylight basement, overhanging concrete patio.

Thank you for your patience in resolving the matter. The work not on the bid was completed along with the fixes for free to make up for our initial misses. The supervisor in question did not handle the situation properly. His young son has cancer tumors in his stomach and is currently going through a divorce. Normal questions from the customer were perceived in the wrong light due to his current stressful situation. Counseling and training sessions between the supervisor and myself revealed that the supervisory job was too much for him to handle at the current time so he is pursuing other opportunities.

The decks look great. We had gotten our estimate last year (June 2009) and weren't able to get it done them due to other circumstances on our part. We called this year to schedule and he was able to get ours done very quickly and the quote from last year was still good. His workers arrived on time, worked very hard all day and finished the whole job in one day. Our decks look brand new, we highly recommend this company.

Very impressed with the quote process, depth of understanding of his business, and the personal touch. The man giving the quote owns the company and is present every day. In my case the owner also put in as many hours of any of his staff. I was most impressed when I asked about getting work done that wasn't clearly part of the quote. It was done without question nor renegotation. I've confidence the eco-friendly chemicals used will hold up well due to checking 3-year-old references he gave me. (Yes I trusted the reference as he seemed honest and spent a lot of time talking about it). The job was done in the quoted time for the quoted price. All was well.

Job was scheduled for one day, but due to problems with a new stain sealer, they had to resand and reapply product, causing the job to take 3 days. The workers were polite, and cleaned up their work area every day. Originally I expected the final wood surface to be smoother, but since I did not pay for them to remove each board and actually plane down the surface [or replace with new boards], the sanding left tiny bits of the old paint in deep crevices. After showing the deck to friends who have had similar work done, we decided it looks good, especially considering the cost. It feels nice and smooth under bare feet.
Description of Work: An old second floor deck suspended on 4 x 4 wood posts had peeling paint on the deck and railings, starting to cause wood rot. Paint was falling to ground level patio. Deck Rejuvinations sanded [not just pressure-washed] the deck boards and railings, and some of the uprights. They then stained the deck and railings, and repainted the uprights, supporting posts, and underside of deck.

A trailer was left parked overnight on the street with their equipment. When the crew arrived the next day they worked steadily but had some trouble with their sander and could not finish that afternoon. They returned early the next morning and completed their work. I called after a couple of days to tell them a board was loose and that there were some very sticky shiny spots on one area of the deck. They promptly returned and nailed the loose board and resanded the problem area. I found them to be extremely well-organized and professional . They use quality product and are environmentally friendly, and stay with a project until it's done to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: An estimate was obtained for a small backyard deck that needed refinishing, and a board that needed replacing. A crew of two men worked over 1 1/2 days sanding off the old finish, replacing a rotten board, and then refinishing the deck with a protective sealer.
