The phone service - I get free long distance for anywhere in the United states. The internet service - just fine it works well. The cable service is just basic and extended and I am happy with them. I have used them for about five years.

It was very good and the gentleman was punctual. He took his shoes off without being asked. He answered all of my questions and was very quick. They came back within a week to check to see if we were happy with the service and checked the installation on the outside of the house.
Description of Work: They came out and activated our high speed cable internet concoctive. They attached the cable on the outside of the house and put cocking in the hole so no bugs would com through, then hooked cable up to the modem.

The original installer left wood and plaster from drilling on the floor at each location with smudges on the walls. Wires were not secured well on exterior. Did not have a screw that would secure plate to wall and was told to just hide it behind the drape. Service did not work completely. Comcast had to send an hourly employee out the next day to fix the work of the original installer. Everyone was very sorry about the original work and second installer was excellent.
Description of Work: Following a complaint I had made to the company about high prices and no access to some desired services; I ended up requesting the installation of 3 new outlets and upgraded service to digital and new package with increase of $15/mo. The request was for wires to be placed in the walls. Installer was contractor (paid by job not by time) said could not feed wires in lath and plaster house. Drilled all wires through walls and ran on exterior of house. Did not provide instructions on use and did not leave welcome packet that would have answered questions.

The cable TV itself worked reasonable well over the years, but we were shocked today to find that the cable TV installer damaged the heating ducts under the living room when routing the main cable from the side of the house to the family room. No other contractor has worked in that area of the crawl space. All these years heating a crawl space and putting up with a cold living room. Cable TV installers deserve their poor reputation. By contrast, my recent experience with Verizon (with a phone company heritage) on FIOS has been exemplary. Good riddance to cable.

The reason for this report is to advise you that if you are thinking of changing from Comcast to whomever, they will probably lower your bill as they offered to to for as after we had already changed to Verizon.

Not well at all as I did not resolve the problem.
Description of Work: We have tried for over a year to have our address & phone number listed in the phone book since we moved to our new residence in 2005. Have talked to them twice recently and all we get is the run around. I have submitted a complaint with a state regulatory board 3-13-07. I can not find out who to talk to to see if our address & phone number will be listed in the next issue of the phone book. Comcast blames another company and and visa versa. Our phone number is listed in the book but with the wrong address. I would think after all most two years at a new address and one year after notifying Comcast they could get it fixed. I am sending this report for your information and do not expect you to be able to help me. I have never had such a run around in my entire life as with this problem and I am over 70 years old. If you have any suggestion or course of action I might take other than what I have already done please advise. Thank you for listening.

5-6 years I have been with them. They have stood me up on the last two appointments. There credit department is offensive. The PR people are a joke and the workmen are no where to be found.

The high speed internet service is very reliable with a satisfactory level of speed. Service calls are rarely necessary and are handled promptly. E-mail service is reliable and quick.

The technician was on time and worked fairly quickly, no complaints there. The phone service has a problem. Comcast has admitted that sometimes cell phones can't get through to the home number. They said that they are working on it. The only way we found out about was that several friends mentioned that our answering machine never picked up. That's when we called Comcast and found out about the problem. I guess it has been fixed???????

The installation software that they provided caused some problems with our computer, so we ended up not installing it. Everything is working fine now. Sometimes it seems as though service is slow (during peak hours?). We chose cable internet due to the fact that DSL was not available in our area.

I scheduled an appointment on a Wednesday for a Friday. No one showed up so I called. Apparently my appointment was the following week - I was given the wrong information. They refunded the change of service fees.

The installers showed up late but got the service going fairly quickly. The Internet service is very fast. I use the speed tools at dslreports.com to check the connection and I get consistently good numbers. Telephone tech support is poor, however, with long wait times and inexperienced help.
Description of Work: Broadband Internet service provided over television cable. They also provided the modem and installation.

We have had a good experience with them. The internet has only gone down a few times, never for more than an hour, in the past 6 months. The price is a bit much, but the speed is very quick and downloads take no time at all.

They were very easy to deal with. I did have to wait on hold, but once I had someone on the phone, he seemed to know what he was talking about. He patiently helped me work with a really complicated situation on my end. The installer showed up exactly on time, which was important. I couldn't understand one word he said because he spoke tech talk and I didn't. However, he used considerable intelligence and common sense to get it all set up in a way that worked best for us. Setup was easy. That was 2 weeks ago. Since then we've had 3 problems with the telephone (voice) line that required trouble tickets and days to correct. For example, our voicemail isn't working now. I'm hoping they work out the kinks or we'll have to switch back to Qwest.

I think I can safely say that without a doubt, Comcast is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Having used them since they first appeared on the scene in my area (which was many years ago), they have yet to change their attitude which consists of blatant lying, remarkably inept technical service and monopolized pricing. For example, our modem refused to give us service a couple of days ago so we called Comcast. After running through all their hoops, the only thing left connected at ALL was the modem - the technician blamed our router. I repeat: the technician blamed our unconnected router for the modem's inability to provide internet on a direct connection to a computer. They told us they would send out a technician to look at the problem - they did not. I called them 2 hours after our scheduled meeting time and miraculously, while still on the phone, our internet suddenly started working again. They're fraudulent and insulting.
Description of Work: Installation of cabling throughout the house, including ensuring that both the internet as well as television cable work. Constant issues over the phone with Comcast to work through internet problems.

Our final installation tech was very polite and nice, but it took him FOUR HOURS to get the job done, having to finally call in his supervisor who figured it out in 30 minutes. At no point did Comcast communicate with us regarding our order. They screwed up the appointment twice, never apologized, and never let us know the problems with installation. I will never use Comcast again. They have absolutely no concept of customer service, and the cable service I receive from them now is spotty at best.
Description of Work: Ordering my cable service went smoothly, but the installation of it and customer service on the office/phone end was a pure nightmare. Initially I was quoted an installation day/time, and sent a confirmation email regarding it. Accordingly I took the day off to be available, and no one showed up. No call, no email, nothing. I phoned and was given an automated message that said my service was scheduled for the following week! I managed to get an operator on the phone who couldn't have cared less. Not even an apology! Nothing! The installation was rescheduled and the nightmare continued. 4, FOUR technicians came out to install, and all left without even telling us that they couldn't figure out the installation! We had to hear that from our landlady! I called again and was again met with indifference and no information. No one could tell us why the installation wasn't taking place, or when it would be.

The service was prompt and the installers were polite, but they were sloppy and did not take great care in either their craftmanship (i.e. outlets not firmly attached to the walls) or to minimizing the visual damage to my house (i.e. cables were installed in the easiest way possible for them without regard to how they looked either inside or outside the house). I was unhappy with the routes of several cables (i.e. going up the outside of the house when they could have gone up inside or in a wall). After promising ''free install'' they charged me $306.72 and it has taken me several months to get most of the install price credited back to me. They also charged me for six weeks of overlapping cable service at my new and old address after promising me that they would not charge me for both service because I was bringing my cable boxes with me (thus saving them money, and meaning I could only watch in one house at a time). This was a poor way to treat a high value ($200/month) customer

CALLING COMCAST SUPPORT WAS AN ORDEAL DUE TO BEING ON HOLD FOR SO LONG, BUT WHEN I WENT INTO THEIR OFFICES THEY WERE QUITE HELPFUL AND A WORK-AROUND ON THE PROBLEM WAS ACHIEVED.
Description of Work: WE RECEIVE HIGH SPEED INTERNET FROM THE COMPANY FOR THE INTRODUCTORY (6 MO.) MONTHLY FEE ABOVE. WE OWN OUR OWN CABLE MODEM BUT AT FIRST IT WOULD NOT WORK WITH THEIR SYSTEM-- MOST LIKELY BECAUSE IT WAS STILL REGISTERED WITH COMCAST IN CA WHERE WE PREVIOUSLY LIVED. GREAT EFFORT ON THEIR PART WAS MADE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND WHEN THEY COULDN'T THEY GAVE US SIX MONTHS OF FREE CABLE MODEM RENTAL. OUR OWN CABLE MODEM NOW WORKS
