Description of Work: I needed an overgrown arborvitae hedge removed. Company would not provide a set appointment for an estimate, but representative did come by at a time I had suggested. Their bid was slightly more than half the others. I was told they could not tell me exactly when the work would be done but they would call one or two days before. The following day I received a call saying they could come that day. They arrived at the time stated and completed the work within two hours. They worked steadily and cleaned up thoroughly. I had received permission to use my neighbors' driveway for removal if it was not blocked for long. They were very careful to keep it open. I am very pleased with price and work, but was frustrated with the inability to make specific appointments in advance. Would use again because of price and quality of work.

 + -1 moreA previous contractor had cut some of the electrical lines making the entire sprinkler system unusable. A&J provided me with a couple of solutions and did a fantastic job of repairing the mess. They also tested the system and found many problems which they fixed. One controller wire could not be fixed without a costly excavation but Tim suggested a less expensive fix saving me hundreds of dollars. I would recommend them to anyone,

If you want a one shot service, they will come out to look around the property, itemized what needs to be done and give you a bill. They are a very nice group and do a very good work.

They have done quite a few jobs for us. They have replaced our front lawn. They put in a new sprinkler system. They brought in dirt and rototilled it in. They layed down sod. They fertilize our yard and trim the bushes. They come every Wednesday and do the work that they are supposed to.

 + -1 moreThey do a good job. Whenever I have had extra work done and they get here and get the job done. Their price is fair. They have done quite a few jobs for us. I use them for landscaping as well. This summer they replaced the front lawn for us. I had a new sprinkler system installed. They removed the old lawn and they brought in the dirt and laid down sod. It has been a good experience with them. They come every Wednesday and do their job. Their landscaping work was perfect. They do it in a timely fashion. They are accommodating. They are honest and knowledgeable. They are very professional.
Description of Work: A & J Landscape Maintenance does weekly yard maintenance for us. They fertilize it, trim the bushes and do things like that. They come out on every Wednesday. I have been using their service for the last 9 years.

Description of Work: Our automatic sprinkler system was having pressure problems on some zones. A and J came out, diagnosed the problem and told us what needed to be done to fix it. We did the work originally so we followed through and fixed the problem per their instructions an all is well.

 + -1 moreSprinkler valves would not operate correctly. I tried to repair them myself but not knowing if the values were malfunctioning or I was (hee hee) I decided to call for help. I called two other landscaping companies, who did not even return the call. A & J Landscape Maintenance not only answered the phone, they had a irrigation technician at my house that day. The tech called me when he was on his way to my house. Called me after evaluating the situation and made recommendations. He completed the job in a little over one hour. Called me back to tell the job was completed, and for the amount he estimated.
Description of Work: Sprinkler value was replaced, one sprinkler head was replaced and the sprinkler timer set for proper watering.

 + -1 moreAfter struggling to receive return phone calls and schedule an appointment with another company to provide sprinkler repair services, I called A&J based on their Angie's List reputation. They were very responsive, professional and courteous. Tim (sprinkler/irrigation specialist) came out within a day or 2 to discuss our needs and provide an estimate. It was a bit difficult to schedule the work once we agreed to move forward but in the end, it was worth the effort. We were very happy with Tim's knowledge, expertise and professionalism.
Description of Work: Installed 1" double check (main sprinkler shut off/on). Re-located several sprinkler heads and replaced a handful of sprinkler heads which included removing existing tall sprinklers and replacing with more efficient pop-ups. This improved both the quality and visual appeal of our existing sprinkler system and also made the yard much safer for young kids playing in the yard. Tested sprinkler system once the work was completed as well as provided recommendations on programming the system for optimal irrigation.

 + -1 moreRequested a bid on various jobs I needed done in my front & back yard. Al provided a bid the same day he came over. I appreciate receiving bids by email, it's so much more efficient. Roundup and fertilizer were applied the following week. The remainder of the work was scheduled this week and I'm very pleased with the results. I have bids for additional work and will complete that when I have the funds available. I'd recommend A&J to anyone looking for yard maintenance.
Description of Work: Sprayed roundup & fertilized lawns 2 weeks ago. Trimmed all shrubs, raked & weeded all beds, cut large birch limb & several aspen trees. Thatched & reseeded lawn. Trimmed back lawn as directed & moved rocks. Repaired irrigation system and moved sprinkler heads as needed. Everyone was very prompt, courteous and professional. Even the office staff, Lillian and Theresa, are very nice to talk to and good about following up.

 + -1 moreA & J Landscape maintenance was great from start to finish. They told me on the phone how much the initial call would be and it was exactly that plus parts. The work was done professionally and courteously. They had to come out a second time when another pipe cracked under pressure, and then a third time when a seal in the new pipe was bad (possible bubble in the pipe glue). I was not charged for the 3rd visit and they fixed the problem and apologized profusely. I am very pleased with the work done.

 + -1 moreTim was able to fix the system while he was out here. He adjusted the pressure, turned off unused sprinklers, adjusted others. As a result the pressure and coverage was high enough that we did not need to add another zone or additional sprinklers. In addition, Tim gave us a lot of tips to make the best use of our system.

Description of Work: Replaced a defective solenoid valve. The crew of 2 showed up on the same day that I requested assistance. The office/scheduling staff was friendly and explained the costs and that the crew would call before they showed up for the project. The crew called when they said they would and appeared when they said they would. They assessed the problem, explained what needed to be done (they also indicated I could do it my self and where to get the parts if I chose that option.), carefully removed the valve without damaging existing plants, replaced the valve, tested it and replaced the dirt moved for the work.

He checked each of six systems and recommended only two minor changes for better coverage of lawns. He made the changes, tested the system and finished the whole job in less than one half hour. The charges were very reasonable.

Tim showed up right on time, found the problem immediately, fixed it quickly, and since he was here checked the other sprinkler heads too! He was professional, courteous and thorough. I would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them to others!
Description of Work: Broken sprinkler pipe was leaking in to neighbor's yard. They replaced with a new sprinkler head, cleaned up broken pieces of pipe, checked to make sure new sprinkler head was working properly and no leak, checked all the other sprinkler heads, cleaned one that was clogged and adjusted the spray on several others.

 + 0 moreAside from irrigation, A & J also manages our lawn which is a life saver. We've had previous landscapers and maintenance people, they have somehow always flaked out. A & J charges a little more a month for our lawn and it is worth it! If you are in Beaverton/Hillsboro area and need a landscape maintenance company, highly recommend these guys.
Description of Work: We had an irrigation system put in our front and backyards at the beginning of August. They were right on the money with the quote, very professional and punctual. Basically, every time they mentioned they would do something, it was done and done right. We love it!
