The house had had squirrels in it. There were 2 large holes, but they were repaired as part of the contract. Somebody else came and fixed those holes, but what we had to do was to get the trees trimmed. They describe themselves as an organization that is part rehabilitation and part service. The guys who work there had gotten in trouble and it's usually alcohol. They send a supervisor out so that he knows what they are doing and they do the work. They are on Angie's List for movers. The initial estimate was for 2 hours worth of work and they did everything in one hour. They left everything clean. They raked up after themselves. The place was better on the ground after they were here than before. They did exactly what we asked for. We wanted nothing that was close to the house where the squirrels could jump in and they did all of that. Then the guy came by and said that there's some dead wood and asked if we like him to take it out. We looked at what he was talking about and we thought that he really knew what he was doing. We asked him to remove it. We spent another 20 minutes making the tree that looked like a disaster turn into a beautiful tree. There had been some storm damage here 2 or 3 years ago. They just fixed the tree, cleaned it up and took the dead wood out. They trimmed some branches that were getting to each other's way because of all the dead wood up there. I think the tree itself would highly recommend him. We were surprised. I was waiting to go up there on the ladder myself and just mark off one or two limbs and somebody asked me to get these guys to do it. They came out and they cleaned up impeccably. We called them and asked them to come out and take a look for the estimate. They came out and took a look at it. To them it wasn't a big deal; they said that they could have some guys come out that afternoon to do the job. They asked if that was alright with us. We agreed and they did. They came out with their truck and they did their job. We were very impressed. Their quality, price, service, timeliness and everything was better than expected. We plan to use them in the future. They also do yard work and yard maintenance. When the leaves start falling at the end of the season, they come out and clean everything up and that's exactly what we'll be using them for.
Description of Work: We used the services of HOW Foundation for tree work on the 29th or 30th of December.

It's a 2 storey house and we decided to have our office upstairs in one of the bedrooms. I have a ton of books and they hauled all of those boxes of books upstairs. They were very, very careful with the lamps and the furniture. They had far more reasonable prices. I think we spent about $700 or $750 for almost 8 solid hours. They didn't stop. They kept right on billing. They took half an hour for lunch and at 29 minutes and 30 seconds they were back on their feet. They were just cranking away. They brought their own trucks, loaded it and they were careful about where they stacked the stuffs. We had had a system for fragile stuff and we had put a red tape on it. They were mindful of that. Everything got to the room as it was supposed to go to. Even when it started to rain, it did not slow them down at all. They rigged up a little shelter between their truck and the garage so that they could keep working. That was an innovation and an extra level of effort that we thought was above and beyond. Over the last 15 years we've probably moved 3 times. These guys were half as expensive and worked just as hard if not harder than any other professional companies we've used in the past. I do not know whether they do interstate work. We had all of our stuff put in the locker because we were in a furnished apartment for 6 months until we could find a house. They moved everything from 2 storage lockers to the house that we are currently in. They did a good job. They just do local moves here in Tulsa. They are in the Tulsa area.

Great, arrived on time, did the work, cleaned up (important since I can't do it) and were gone in under an hour. Much less $$ than I had expected.
Description of Work: They trimmed a very large maple tree in my very small back yard and did a wonderful job. Dan came out a few days before and gave me an estimate and set a date for the service. They were prompt, courteous and efficient. I learned that they perform a variety of work so I will definitely be using them again.

The work was all done efficiently and thoroughly. The tree had a difficult location to work on - between a stone retaining wall (which has a busy thoroughfare on the other side of it) and an air conditioning unit. And short length of chain link fence from the house to the stone wall, which restriced access. The fence served no purpose, was old, damaged and just needed to be removed, regardless of the tree. The HOW Foundation was the only group willing to do the complete job - remove fence, tree and grind the stump. So the convenience of scheduling with only one organization was a plus. They were also the lowest bid for removing the tree. It had to be removed by hand and very carefully due to the location limitations cited above. The HOW gentlemen showed up on time and went to work promptly. The fence went first (the poles were set in cement and had to be dug up). Then the tree. It was a large tree; 25 years according to a ring count of the stump. Nothing was damaged nor dropped onto the busy street below. All the wood and fencing was hauled off, the yard raked and the sawdust disbursed with a blower - and as the gentleman with the blower headed back to their truck he blew the leaves off the front walk and steps on his way. (!) Not expected and very nice courtesy. After the utility lines were marked, another HOW gentleman came with the equipment to grind the stump - also prompt and courteous. Being a maple, there were surface roots, big ones, going every where. These he removed with an axe. Again, the debris was taken away, and the yard raked. It's difficult to tell a tree was ever there.
Description of Work: Removed a large maple tree and then ground the stump. They also removed a short length of chian link fence.

I feel that after the rough scheduling start, the overall experience is very positive and I am pleased with their work. The men were very nice (I only spoke to 2 but they were both polite). The leader told me he had completed his program and yesterday was his last day. I was impressed with his work and leadership of the team and I wish him well. I believe there were 4 or 5 men on the crew and they blew away any extra grass so that it wasn't laying in the driveway or the road.
Description of Work: I had called the HOW foundation about 3 weeks ago to see if they could come do some yard work. At the time they were booked up and scheduled me for the 13th. I wanted them to mow my boyfriends front and side yard. He was out of town and the grass gets pretty high sometimes before he can get here to cut it. Since HOW was not able to come out as soon as I wanted them, my boyfriend went ahead and cut the front yard, which is 2/3 of the job. The rest is just the ditch area outside the fence, a side yard which is no bigger than most in a housing addition and the area between the side yard fence and the road, then down the side of the other fence (this particular area is a gravel driveway for the company next door, so it really only needs to be weed eated). I wanted the outside fence areas weed eated as well as inside the fence area on the sides they were cutting and also wanted all grass picked up. We have a dumpster so they didn't need to haul off anything. Anyway, the 13th rolls around and i never hear from them to confirm they are to come out so I call them. The gentleman I talked to said he had called me numerous times over the last week to verify the schedule and left voice mail messages but strangely, I never received anything. He said he had closed the request because he assumed I had gotten the yard done. So, when I told him no, only the front yard was done, that i still needed the area around the yard done, he said he would put me back on the list and call me when they had an opening. Well, since we are due for about 6 days of rain, i really wanted it done yesterday or today at the latest, so i started calling around to see if I could get someone else to come out. Most of the references on a lot of these listings are over a year old, so i'm kind of disappointed in that...many phone numbers are no longer in service.....so I was about 6 businesses down the list when i finally got in touch with someone who's still in business and might be able to help. This person was not in the office though and was to call me on her return to the office so she could check the schedule. I guess she got lost because she has never returned my call. Then I get a call from HOW foundation that they have a team leaving downtown and can do our yard in 20 minutes. I grabbed my purse, sent a message to my team that I would be working from home for the rest of the day (I can remote in to my office computer/network) and I left. When I got home, they were there and ready to go to work. I explained what I wanted done and that I did not want the grass left laying, it needed to be bagged. Since they only had push mowers, that meant raking it up......which they did, quite nicely. I told them they could put everything in the dumpster. They did exactly what I asked, asked me questions if they saw something else that might need to be done and was through in about an hour and a half.

We called HOW Foundation on Thursday morning and were promised a crew by late afternoon. HOW called back an hour later to say that a crew had become available. The four men arrived a few minutes later and the crew chief listened carefully as I explained the areas we wanted cleared. Working steadily for an hour and a half, they completely removed fallen leaves from the designated areas. The property looks great. The price was exactly what had been estimated and is an excellent value. Everyone was cordial and professional in his demeanor. We are very pleased with the results and will call HOW Foundation again for future jobs.

As always, I was very satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: I needed some heavy furniture rearranged to make room for a new armoire. I hired HOW, as I have so many times in the past, to help me. Fortunately they had a cancellation for that day and was able to get to me right away. As always, they were punctual, polite and professional. They are always willing to make whatever adjustments I want and they even make suggestions for furniture placement if I am undecided. I always can count on the HOW Foundation to help me with any project - whether it be furniture rearranging, yard work or landscaping.

They were on time. They were reasonable and did a good job. We had used them several years before and we used them again. They have always done a good job for us. They usually charge so much an hour, and there is a minimum of one hour. If we need something to be carried upstairs they would even do that besides just moving us from one house to the other. They do what we want them to do. They usually let us know if they are open on the day we’d like to use them. If not we can schedule them another time. They do call us back too. A lot of places don’t do that. If they are done with their work and if there is still time for them they would ask if there is anything else that needs to be moved. We have had no trouble with them.

I have supported The HOW Foundation through annual charity contributions for a number of years because I believe in their mission. That is the reason I called them first. I own a rental property in Tulsa (I live in Texas) that I am renovating to sell. I needed trash haul off, ongoing lawn maintenance, and tree removal work. I was shocked to learn that they would not do business with me - even if I prepaid for services - because I lived outside of Oklahoma. I was told, however, that one of their clients performed these same services on the side. He gave me an estimate of $650 to do the work I requested. I later found someone who would to the haul off for $250 and the lawn maintenance for $40.

We have used them several times before and they do a good job. We plan to call them again. HOW Foundation is a rehab facility for recovering alcoholics. It is a live in and the guys are there from a few weeks to a few months. While the guys are there, they provide a service to people to come and do basically whatever you want done. You pay them a very really reasonable price and it goes to the Foundation. There is one guy who's part of their crew team and he is pretty sharp and the others are laborers who will do what he asks them to do. We have been very satisfied not only with what they did but also with their reasonable price. They charge us by the hour. Four or five guys come out and swarm the yard and they are out of there soon enough. The longest we ever had them was three hours. They do a nice job and they don't take very long. When they leave everything is all swept up and cleaned. HOW stands for Honesty, Open minded, and Willing. You have to have an order to severe from alcoholism. I am a recovering alcoholic myself so I like to use them to keep them employed because I know it's a good thing. They are getting ready to do some tree service for us. We have several other things we want them to do including some minor trimming and I expect that they can do the jobs. They come in and work hard. You do have to watch them because if you tell them to clean the grass in the flower bed, when you come back whatever was in the flower bed is all gone. They basically do what you tell them to do. Their price is very reasonable. They have a list and they put you on their list. In the fall when a lot of people want their yards cleaned up, it may be a week or so before they can get to you. Any other time of the year they may be there the next day or the day after. They come when they say they are going to come. They come and do what they say they are going to do. The crew chief is well-spoken and you can talk to him. The other guys are not all that excited about being there, but they do a good job. I think they do a professional job. I would recommend them to others and I have.
Description of Work: HOW Foundation came out last fall and cleaned up the flower beds, raked up the leaves, bagged them up, and hauled them off. We have used them in the fall for the last two years to do our lawn clean-up that includes raking, sweeping, and cutting grass.

Of the 3 trees we had removed, 2 were quite large and were 50 year-old maples. It was quite a competitive price. That's why we use them for things like that. We have always used them. It's a local non-profit organization. They have Dan Ferguson as the Service Manager. We are in the area where the big ice storm hit and we had to have some trees trimmed and then removed. The trees were too damaged and could not be saved. The organization is very good. Their laborers are all men who are trying to overcome alcoholism, so it's a work program. Some people might have some trepidation about using them thinking that they are drunk. They are very good and they handle themselves very well. They work really hard and they are well-organized. They are always punctual. They are never a minute late. They do a good job. They have always done unskilled labor in the past. They have started doing tree trimming now. We did have them trim the trees before we had them taken out through no fault of their own. We just didn't understand how an ice storm works. Apparently the trees were full of fractures, so we just ended up taking them out because they kept breaking and dropping great big limbs even after they were cleaned out. The men did a decent job on the clean-out. That wasn't included in the $1250.00. That was just removal. I don't remember how much we spent on the cleaning.

They arrived on time and worked straight through for 8 hours with 2 short breaks and 30 minutes for lunch. They brought basic yard tools including a chainsaw. They were friendly and obliging and took care to complete the job I needed done. Everything was picked up and hauled off, and the lot was left neat and tidy. I was very happy with the result.
Description of Work: These guys do basic landscaping work: nothing skilled like (for example) retaining wall construction. I had them cut and clear vegetation from a sloping, overgrown lot, including tree limbs I was pruning. There was a day's work for 5 guys and about 3 1-ton loads to be hauled off including rocks, limbs, leaves, plants and other debris.
