Description of Work: They build the brick wall that replaced a wooden fence on my property. I could not be happier: it looks awesome, was build quickly, and contact with the masons was easy like 1-2-3 :) They really want to make a customer happy... | |After the wall at the backyard was build, I hired them to build the brick fence along the front and side yard. They will be starting it shortly. | |They are the rare find...! | | |

I had a 4-ft sandstone, WPA-rock, retaining wall, from the 1930's, that ran the entire length of the front yard. The lawn had shifted over the years and was pushing the wall out at the top by at least a foot. It was also extremely cracked and almost falling over in one place. I had several masonry places from Angie's List come out to give me a quote but the Wendlands were the only ones to take the time to go over what had happened, why it couldn't be repaired, and what my options were. Via email, the son Coe patiently worked through numerous options with me until we found one that suited me. They removed the existing wall right away for me, as it was a liability if it fell on someone. There was a short delay with getting the brick order in but things went very quickly once it did. The crew as extremely professional and the cleanup was immaculate. I highly recommend this wonderful family-owned company and would definitely use again.
Description of Work: Demolished and removed old 4-ft. rock retaining wall, installed new 2-ft. "brick" wall, and graded lawn to meet with new shorter wall.

Excellent work. I would most certainly call them again if I needed help.
Description of Work: We had a problem with a backyard waterfall leaking, and I had called several contractors, including the man who did the installation work before. They all declined to even come out and confirm what I thought was the problem until the "end of summer" knowing it was most likely a small job. I called Wendland after seeing their rating on Angies List, and they said they could come out within a few days. True to their word, they were here a few days later...father and two sons. They confirmed the problem causing the leak, and were back a few days afterward to fix the problem. They spent several hours moving rocks and concreting the problem pond to stop the leak and even returned a few days later to replace all of the rocks in the pond. I could not have been more impressed with their work and response time. They acted as if this was their own waterfall, and could not have been more responsive and helpful.

The whole project lasted 2 days and did not disrupt our daily routines. They, the workers, explained everything that they were doing and how it would look once everything was in place and had cured and hardened. They were very courteous treated us with the utmost respect, which is something that I place a lot of faith on in a company. Not only did they complete the work on time, you could not tell that they had even been there. I am disabled and therefore cannot climb a ladder and the graciously offered to re-attach a window shutter on a second story window that had been blown off the brick during a wind storm. They asked for no compensation for that and they also replaced a foam faucet cover that had been damaged during their work. This is a company that respects and treats its' clients like family. I fully endorse Wendland Masonry and Excavating to anyone who wants high quality work done at a very reasonable price.
Description of Work: Mr. Wendland, the owner, was contacted by us for an estimate on repairing mortar separation on our two story chimney and various other mortar repair on our brick facade due to settling of the foundation. He and his son were extremely knowledgable as to what needed to be done for the proper repair of the problems that we pointed out to them. Before he promised to do any work, he recommended a company to place piers at certain points under our foundation that would support the chimney and walls to save us from having to have him come out at a later date to make more repairs to what he had already made. He told us at the beginning that this would save us money in the long run. He also explained that if we had the piering done, that he would give us a discount to help with the cost of the project and he was true to his word.

They gave me a fair estimate and a contract. Sel insured. Took off iron railings on porch and added several new steps to porch so the incline would be less difficult to climb. Blended in with old brick work and mortar was exact mix for my 1926 built house. Bricks too. Also built sidewalk from driveway to sidewalk in front. Perfect work in a difficult trade that would stand up against anyone else. My expectations were surpassed.
Description of Work: Wonderful company. True artists. Friendly, not pushy. You may find cheaper but never better. They did several smaller jobs for me completly free. I would never consider a different company. This was brick masonry at its best. Trade handed down through family and it shows. Concrete work too.

We had a problem with the chimney mortar crumbling and leaking at the top of a very tall chimney. We got several estimates & some were as high as $20,000 to tear down the chimney & re-build it. However, we did not need a new chimney. All we needed was the top part of the chimney to be repaired. Mr. Wendland came by the house and gave us a very reasonable estimate that entailed taking down only 6 - 8 courses of brick and rebuilding the chimney cap. This involved setting up scaffolding very high up and about 3 days of work. Also, they had to get the chimney paint computer matched in order to repaint the chimney when finished. The paint matches the rest of the house perfectly. They did an outstanding job! The chimney is now fixed and repainted it is just beautiful! The Wendland men were very very neat & tidy and took care to use padding on the roof so that the scaffolding would not mar the roof. They cleaned up every bit of debris created by the job and left the yard in pristine condition. The crew was very professional and they did an excellent job. Mr. Wendland has been in the construction business since 1972 and he is very knowledgeable about all aspects of buiding & repair. He has an A+ rating with the BBB. We highly recommend Wendland Masonary for any type of brick or stone work. They also can do other types of residential or commercial construction work.. Wendland Masonary does a great job for a very fair price.

Wendland did a GREAT job. They are true craftsmen and were extremely pleasant to have around while they were working. They took great care to explain every step of the work - what they were doing and why - and what had been missing from the original construction.. When the old bricks were removed we discovered that the house has been built without any house wrap over the plywood decking. They made sure that was remedied before they replaced the brick (no additoinal cost). They rebricked the gable installing an angle iron over the arch to support the bricks above and took great care to install plenty of ties between the house and the bricks ( none originally). Other cracks in brickwork were sawn out and repaired. They were able to repair the mailbox without rebuildingit and did not charge addiitonal for that. No complaints at all and would definitley recommend their services.
Description of Work: Wendland Masonry completely rebuilt the gable above our double garage and repaired extensive cracking to brick work above our single garage and in a high archway above our front door entrance . They also repaired loose bricks at the back of the house and our mailbox that one of our kids had driven into. They are a family firm who take a huge amount of pride in their work. I had got their name from Angie's list and was impressed by the website and variety of work they undertake. Their quote was the highest we received by a small amount but the scope of work the most complete and we definitely got value for money.
