For the past 7 years, they have done maintenance and repairs on our system. They are very nice and professional. They fixed our thermostat, but something else happened. We had to wait two or three weeks later. So, they credited us the cost of the service.

He told me when he gave me the estimate that I wouldn’t need to change my thermostat because it was compatible with the new furnace. A couple of other people told me I would need a new thermostat so I appreciated his honesty. He also told me I didn’t need a new humidifier. Also, they were very professional and when I had a problem they came out right away and fixed it. I would definitely recommend him to others.

Jeremy, Residential Manager, worked to tweak his bid to match my financial limits. All work was done by the book, and the quality was excellent. When I wondered whether the duct routing and finishing was ideal, Jeremy came out himself, agreed it could have been done better, and dispatched a crew to bring it up to my specifications. Very responsive and eager to please.

Overall, the experience has been very good. They’re the best. They’re efficient, neat at their job, and are very honest. We can rely on them.

They are fantastic. They have also done all of the repairs on our heating and air conditioning system. They are really good. We actually used another company one time to try to save money. The tech was on the phone with a guy he knew from Hinton to get instructions on how to do the work. They are very nice and they come quickly. They are very fair in terms of their pricing. We would never use anybody else.

I have had really good luck with them. They came promptly and repaired the system. Then they got it back working with minimum amount of delay. I was really happy with those things. The part that they used was pretty expensive and the price was about $225. I liked the fact that they sent over a technician who was able to identify the problem quickly and fixed it. He also got my system up and running fairly quickly. So, I was pretty happy about that. It turned out to be a part that he had on his truck; so he didn’t need to go and get it from another store. I don’t think they are the cheapest, but their prices are in line with everybody else. They were very professional and I would definitely use their services in the future too.

A/C in my rental unit in Edmond was blowing warm air. I called 3 A/C companies for estimates. Hinton came out first, and fixed the problem. Although I had specifically asked for an estimate, work was performed. Being that I wasn't there in person (my tenant was), I'm not sure exactly what prompted the service to actually take place. Needless to say, I was a little concerned that they didn't fulfill my request. However, the final bill was reasonable for the work performed. Probably a little high in reality, but paying under $150 to get the unit blowing cold air again is reasonable. The funny thing is that the actual service only cost $45. It was the "diagnostic test" and "travel fee" that added together for the other $85. So I guess I'm happy with the outcome, but not so sure if I'm happy with the overall experience. Being that I was told the guy was there for less than an hour, $130 seems a little high.

It was part of a program for electric utility. About a year ago they installed a new air-conditioning unit and an evaporator coil. They were professional and did a very thorough job. I would recommend them because they give us honest pricing and make honest recommendations. They wouldn't recommend anything that doesn't need to be done.

After a daytime high of 106 degrees we came home Saturday night to a very warm house (88 degrees) and an AC unit blowing warm air. Went outside to take a look and noticed the outside unit's fan was not moving and not a sound was coming from it. The capacitor went out 1-2 summer's ago so I thought maybe it had again. I pulled off the side of the unit and the capacitor looked fine (when it blew last time it was obviously distended). Sunday morning I logged onto AngiesList to seek out a repairman. After seeing Hinton Refrigeration had lots of positive reviews and an A+ BBB rating I felt confident in giving them a call. I got their answering service and left a message. Within 15 minutes a tech returned my call and said he would be at my home within 45 minutes (and he was). He arrived promptly and looked professional enough (kept his very dark sunglasses on though, which I personally don't like). He told me it would be $105 for the diagnostic and $20 trip charge. The diagnostic consisted of looking at the capacitor and deciding it was fine since it looked intact (I told him it had gone out in the past) and then spinning the fan blade with a screw driver and deciding the fan motor had gone out. 25 minutes later the new motor was on and he presented me with a bill for $484.00. I was shocked, but felt I had no choice but to honor the bill. I was also a bit annoyed because the tech appeared to be talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone while working on my AC unit. Some friends told me the price I paid seemed high, so I called 4 other AC repair companies listed here on AngiesList. Three of the four gave me a price over the phone for replacing the fan motor and all were at least $100 cheaper than Hinton. Two even mentioned the price included inspecting the entire unit and topping off any freon needed (two things the Hinton tech did not do). I then looked up the part they installed (it was listed on the receipt) and found out I could buy it locally for $112. So, I was charged $372 for 25 minutes work and what turned out to be an incomplete diagnosis. As luck would have it the AC stopped working again in a couple of hours. But this time the fan was still turning but no cold air was coming out. I called the technician directly and he returned about an hour or so later. He told me the condenser had overheated and he needed to cool it down with my water hose. After that was done he checked the freon level and said they were low and refilled them. The AC was back blowing cold and he said everything should be fine. It should be noted, that though this time the tech wasn't on his phone, he was smoking the entire time. Around 11pm that night, sure enough, the AC shut off again. My mother was in town visiting and the house quickly got up to 92 degrees! At 7am the next day (Monday), I called and left a message with the answering service and asked for a manager to call me right away. At 10:20 a.m. I had not received a call back so I called again. I was told the manager was out. I requested his cell phone and was given it. I called the manager (Jeremy S.) and told him the story. He said someone would call me to setup an appointment later that day and they'd get a different tech out to have a look. I received a call and was told the new tech would call when on his way but it would be around 2:30pm. He arrived without prior notice just after 1:00 p.m. (luckily I was home). The new tech tested the capacitor (something the previous one did not) and said it was blown. He replaced it and then tried to charge me for it. I told him to discuss it with his manager and let me know if they really wanted to do that. He placed a call and then said there would be no additional charge for the capacitor (since it took 3 visits, I had to stay home on Monday, was diagnosed improperly, etc.). I pointed out to the new tech that I was shocked at their lack of attention to detail. I shared that a technician a summer or two ago (that replaced the capacitor) had done a complete inspection of the unit, filled the freon and then came inside to measure the temperature of the air being blown and to see how I had set my digital thermostat - all as part of their basic service call and diagnostic charge). The tech agreed to come inside and get the temp of the air and said it was good. Pros: The came out very quickly on a Sunday during a very busy time of the year. The techs were polite and dressed in clean uniforms. The eventually got it right. Cons: Prices are too high. Lack of attention to detail and proper professional demeanor (no sun glasses, no talking on the phone and no smoking). Misdiagnosed the problem initially, Had to make three visits to do a job that should have been done in a single one hour visit. The should check the freon, inspect the entire unit and come inside and check the thermostat and how cold the blowing air is. Based on all their positive reviews, lets hope I just caught them on a very bad day. The problem is, there are literally dozens of AC repair companies in the area and in the end, all they are selling is customer service and if you can't get that right you've got problems.

In June 2009, we moved into our newly built home which the Heat/AC was sub-contracted by another company. We had trouble with it & contacted the sub-contractor several times, which he did respond. The 16 Seer units we purchased did not seem to be working as we expected for energy efficiency so we called Hinton and Jeremy Stafford came to assess the situation. After Jeremy visiting, speaking with the Lennox Rep we had the sub-contractor come back to fix the issues Jeremy had found. Then Jeremy came back & it appeared to be a bigger disaster than it was before the other company came. Jeremy decided to bring the Lennox Rep to look over the situation. This process started approximately in September 2010 with the compressor going out on the 2 Ton unit and being repaired by Hinton. By the time all diagnostics were in winter had arrived so we waited until warmer weather to make the repairs. The units are running wonderfully & am excited to see if our electric bill is lower since the repairs. Jeremy Stafford was very helpful, patient & thorough. The technicians were great & got the repairs done just before a cold front came in. I could not have asked for any better people to come & make right what another company did so wrong. And for Jeremy's repeated visits to check work another company performed I am very thankful & appreciative. Thanks to Shawn & Victor for taking a disaster & turning it into a efficient working system.

As luck would have it, my heater quit the day before Christmas. I called Hinton at 11:00am. They said they would be out in an hour, and the charge would be $120 plus parts and additional labor. Jeff arrived a little more than an hour later. He diagnosed the problem to be a failed gas valve. He said this was a part he did not normally have with him and that his parts supplier was closed on Dec 24, but would open up for an additional $50 charge. There was some difficulty in locating the part. Jeff didn't explain, but it sounded like he may have had to visit more than one parts supplier, but he returned two hours later with the part and had the heater working 15 minutes later. The labor charge was $120 as quoted. As for whether this is a fair price, my only other quote was from Dahl Heat and Air who wanted $180 for labor. Even with their 15% Angie's List coupon, they were more expensive. The part was $356. That seems very expensive, but since I didn't see his invoice, I can't say I was overcharged. I also paid the $50 "opening fee". As broken out, the $526 bill, though high, was reasonable especially considering the fact it is Christmas Eve and that Jeff spent two hours getting the part, but didn't charge me extra for his time. I am also ecstatic they were able to come out so quickly! I would definitely call Hinton again.

They had a quick response and they were very cordial. And would we use them again? Yes!

They set up appointment at my convenience. The phone representative was friendly and asked a minimum questions to set up the appointment for system evaluation and estimate. Jermey arrive on time. I had almost a 2 page list of questions I needed answered. Ninety-five percent of these questions were answered before I asked them. Jeremy was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I would be very comfortable using Hinton and know that every thing would be installed correctly. The compressor unit we were thinking about installing was too large for the area where the old unit was. The new one would have to be moved to the back of the house. This would require rewiring. The reason I went to another company is Hinton required me to arrange and pay for an electrician to do the rewiring. The company I went with included it in the price and they did the contracting.

We are very pleased with their work. We appreciate that they have recommended a roofing company to take care of the vent outside our roof. I couldn't ask for better service than what we have received so far.

Arrived promptly, worked entire day and completed by 5:00 p.m. Tested unit and ducting, hauled away old unit and cleaned all job associated trash. Also left extra filters for unit and replaced thermostat with digital unit.

The man came out within a couple hours after I called. Showed up on time, and kept at it until the furnace cycled several times properly. He had to leave to get a gauge, but came right back and didn't charge me for the time he was gone. He was nice, personable, clean, and polite. I think it was a simple fix, but a hard one to diagnose.

They were prompt, courteous and friendly. They fixed my a/c right the first time and I would recommend them.

They are always polite and prompt and do a good job. We changed to them after another company stood us up a few times, not coming out when they said they would. Hinton is much more professional.

I had a Freon leak in my 10 year old central air unit. Had already been told that I should replace the entire system at a cost in excess of $6000, and that parts would not be available to simply replace the coil - so I would need a new air handler at a minimum of $2000, or if they could find a coil it would be about $1500. I called Hinton, received an estimate over the phone for replacing the coil and they fixed it early the next morning for exactly the quoted amount, including labor and tax. From my past experiences I really expected that the quote was cost of parts and labor - not including Freon, a new dryer, etc..but it was all inclusive and obviously less than my other quotes. Excellent experience, would (and will) call again.

Apparently Angie's List works too well and they have more business than they need.

My air conditioning was in cooling when it was 100 degrees outside. I thought I would have trouble getting a serviceman on short notice. Called Hinton and they said they had a serviceman in area and could be there in a short time. He was on time, identified the problem and fixed it. Serviceman was polite and knowledgeable.

Called in the morning, lady was very nice while scheduling appointment. Tech showed up on time around 1pm. He called prior to coming. Would definitely recommend them to people.

Hinton Refrigeration Company was very professional. The service guys were very polite and nice. I can really tell a difference with the air flow. We would refer them to others.

All-in-all, it went pretty good with Hinton Refrigeration. After they left, it still wasn't working, so we had to call them again, but they came right back out and fixed their mistake. They were very professional, did good work, and didn't charge very much.

I have been very satisfied with Hinton. They have been very prompt, courteous and informative. I consider them to be top-notch. They are here when they say they will be here.
