A-Better Chimney

Tobey came out, pulled out the dryer, blew out the vent, went up on the roof, then told us we didn't need the dryer vent cleaned out. It was clean. He explained why we probably had water in the dryer, the cap had come off the vent and it had rained very hard. He was very thorough, very nice, very professional and then did not charge us because, he said, he didn't do any work. This is an honest, decent, straightforward young man and I will absolutely call him should I need work done in his area of expertise.

Toby was excellent to do business with. I purchased a new house. I thought there were issues with the fireplace due to obvious soot damage above the fireplace. Toby checked my fireplace for safety. He found a leak in the gas line and fixed it. He also installed a chimney cap. He did not have the exact size with him. He placed one over the chimney and returned with the proper sized one and installed it. Very prompt, professional, trustworthy, and informative. I would definitely recommend him for any chimney work.

I called Toby and left a message and he called me back within the hour and scheduled appointment for next day and arrived promptly. He inspected and repaired what was required and was very friendly and highly recommend him and if i need anything else he will be my first call....THANK YOU Toby.

They pulled my dryer away from the wall, disconnected it and used a super-vacuum to suck years' worth of lint out of the stack. They told my husband it was crammed all the way to the roof. They cleaned up and took all the lint with them. Now, when the wind blows, we can hear it whooshing through the vent.

They came exactly on time, quoted the amount of time it would take, and were finished within that 45 minute time frame, and cleaned up as if they were never here. The owner, Toby Buser, was one of the two who came out. My husband was pleased with their professionalism.

Went extremely well. Showed up in time frame he promised and called ahead to let me know he was close. Performed the task very professionally and was knowledgeable and friendly. He and his helper were polite and very efficient. They cleaned everything up after they were done. I will be using him again in the future.

This was an outstanding customer experience beginning to end. I knew we had an issue when I discovered our chimney crown in the back yard. We checked Angie's List and saw good ratings for A-Better Chimney. Toby, who later did the work, answered the phone right away. I described our situation. He was very clear and concise about what he would do once he got out to the house. Toby showed up promptly at the 8 am appointment time and went right to work. He described exactly what he and his associate were doing as the process unfolded. They were efficient, thorough and professional. The charges were very reasonable. We have a wood burning fireplace that has been converted to gas logs. So soot build up was not a problem but because of issues with the cap and crown on the roof, lots of junk had gotten into the chimney smoke shelf. Toby bagged up a bird's nest, a mud-dobber's nest and dirt that had found its way into the chimney. He also cleaned the gas logs. He replaced the cap with a quality used one he had on hand at the office and didn't charge me for it. He did mortar work to fill gaps around the crown. It looked great afterwards. I certainly don't know this because I climbed on the roof. Toby showed me a picture he had taken of the work so I would know what was done and what it looked like. I would highly recommend Toby and A-Better Chimney for anybody in need of fireplace/chimney work, from simple to complicated.

We wanted our fireplace chimney cleaned after having had a raccoon nest inside and to purchase a chimney cap for installation. Toby was able to service us promptly. The chimney had very little cleaning necessary and Toby kindly waived the charge for his services. The chimney cap that fit needed to be ordered and it was received quickly. Toby came right out to install it. We are extremely pleased with his politeness, responsiveness, and professionalism.

Have dealt with a lot of service providers over the years, and this was one of the most pleasant experiences. He was able to come out only five days after contact even though this has to be the busy time of the year. Toby is very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and friendly. He also doesn't waste a minute of time--all of his time is spent working the problem. He was here and gone within an hour. Toby cleaned a dryer vent that hadn't been touched in 5 years--actually found shingle and decking pieces in vent. We have a very steep roof. His flexibility and balance is pretty amazing--he negotiated that roof with little effort and checked the vent cap. I have had service providers refuse to go up that roof. He also inspected an outside fireplace. Even though it is relatively new construction, the chimney abuts the house. Any problems means a rapidly spreading house fire. He explained what we had (an insert) and the safety features that the insert provides. Back up on the roof. Inspected the chimney cap and added some caulk to the base of the cap. Inspected the entire chimney both inside and out. Said it didn't need cleaning--everything looked good. He also seemed to sense security was a concern, so he made a point to explain the high-end cap and its benefits, a fully lined flue, and the insert benefits. He gave a 10% discount for having multiple services done on the same visit. If you need a dryer vent cleaned or want to have fireplace cleaned/inspected, you don;t need to go anywhere else. Doubt you will do better and you sure won't go wrong giving Toby a call.

Toby is fantastic! He was prompt, very efficient, and respectful of home. He asked if I had any questions about his work and any future work. Luckily, my chimney checked out with no problems but I trust if he found anything he would be fair in price and knowledgeable of resolution. I will definitely use him again if the need arises.

We were having trouble with our Clothes Dryer not drying as good as it should have. We called & he promptly made a appointment. He was prompt & professional & knew immediately what the trouble was. The Vent was almost totally clogged with lint because when the vent was installed, they left a screen on it that should have been removed. I would use him again.

My dryer stopped working because a high temperature fuse blew. I was advised by the appliance repair parts company that this is often caused by lint build up. I replaced the fuse and contacted Toby by email. He replied within 10 minutes. We scheduled a time for him to come out and on that day he arrived a little ahead of time. He cleaned the vent pipe and vacuumed out all the lint. He discovered that the vent cap installed by the builder had a screen in it that prevented any lint from escaping from the vent pipe. He had a replacement cap with him, he quoted me the additional cost for the part and labor and I authorized him to install it. The replacement vent cap has a flapper door that sits several inches below a protective, water reflecting, hard cap. When the dryer is on the pressure opens the flapper door and the lint can escape. He also inspected the pipes for air leaks to be sure there was adequate pressure for the flapper door to open and lint to blow out. Toby was very pleasant. He was very knowledgeable and conscientious. He had a great attitude. You could tell that he takes his work seriously and wanted to do a good job. Cost breakdown: $100.00 for service call and $75.00 for the vent cap and labor to install.

Toby from A-Better Chimney was wonderful. He was very professional, prompt & a overall nice gentleman. He explained the entire process to me. He cleaned the dryer vent which was on top of the roof, he even asked the neighbors next door if he could enter their yard to be able to access the dryer vent on top of my roof which was positioned & had to be accessed via the house next door. He cleaned out the actual dryer in the laundry room. He did a great job overall. I would definitely recommend Toby & his company & I will use his company again. Thank you

Toby had come out previously to clean the chimneys in my house. Back then, I spoke to him about an issue I had with rain blowing into my chimney. After cleaning my living room chimney, he checked both stacks and found that the inside liner in my bedroom chimney was not connected. He corrected that issue then recommended a windbeater chimney cap to prevent rain entry into the chimney.

I originally made an appointment to get my chimney cleaned as well as my dryer vent cleaned. I called several business from Angie?s List and A-Better Chimney had the best price and was available when I was. Toby arrived on time and took a look at the dryer vent first. He told me that my dryer vent was not hooked up correctly so he was unable to clean it. He gave me instructions on what I needed to fix the problem and said he would clean it after all of the repairs were made. Next both of them cleaned and inspected the chimney and fireplace. They did an excellent job cleaning the chimney and fireplace. They even repaired the firebox cracks free of charge. They educated me on my entire fireplace and chimney system and now I understand how to maintain my fireplace and chimney better. He also did a couple more things free of charge like cleaning the soffits around the house and blowing the leaves off the front porch. They were both very knowledgably, professional and friendly the entire time. I would highly recommend this company to my friends and will use them in the future.

Toby will definitely be coming next year. Super polite, received a courtesy reminder call, fast, clean and very professional. Went above and beyond. I have a huge custom fireplace that had not been cleaned in years. No hidden or additional fees. All of the fireplace glass was cleaned, the outside wiped down, flashing screwed down. I have never known a chimney sweep who includes all that for their base price. I highly recommend them.

They arrived on time. They introduced themselves prior to coming in and were very professional. They were quick; all together took about an hour. They even went through the trouble to bend our old grate to fit the wood we will be using. He found a small issue with the chase cover, and made the repair for free (and it was freezing outside too!).They were polite and answered any questions we had. I will use these guys in the future and would recommend them to any family or friends.

We called A-Better Chimney out after having a new roof put on our home. The roofing company told us some chimney repairs were needed. We called A-Better Chimney because he had repaired a chimney on one of our rental homes last year. After paying the $39.95 estimate bill, we told him we would call him to arrange a time for repairing our chimney. We called Toby back and he told us he would not be able to get to it. When we pressed him for an estimated time like next summer, he told us he didn't even know if he could get to it then. He said this is a very busy time for him and he is only working on Saturdays. So, he charged for an estimate and now can't give us a time when he can do the work. Now looking for " a better chimney repair" company!

Work went very well. Toby was on time, was very professional, explained what he was doing, the condition and problems he encountered, and left me feeling very good about the safety and readiness of our fireplace for the coming season. Kept work area as clean as possible during work, and didn't leave any mess for me afterward. For an hour and 15 min of work, I'd say we got more than our money's worth. Very satisfied.
