Description of Work: The top five layers of the chimney needed remorted and the chimney Cap needed replacing the crown I mean well the crown failed after just a couple of months and he came out and replaced it it cracked and peeled up towards the sky it did it again about 3 months later and he was very rude on the phone he said the GD word and said how many times have I been out there to repair that and I said well this will be the second and he came out without calling me and replaced it it cracked and peeled up towards the sky again two or three months later and we talked and I thought maybe he was using old product but he has a place on his receipt where he wrote 10-year warranty on the crown and initial it and I have the product pamphlet and it says 10-year warranty well it is cracked and peeled toward the sky again which means water is getting in my chimney and now he refuses to come out or communicate with me he sent a text do what you have to do. ,they're more to work with awful the chimney just looked awful with old mortar hanging off of it that they had done and they virtually ruined my shingles but I let all that slide but now I have a crown that is in disrepair and cracked again and supposed to have a 10-year warranty and he won't communicate with me other than do what you have to do via text

Description of Work: My dryer never worked right since we moved into our house, I tried cleaning it myself. A-Better came out and said the dryer cap on the roof was designed to vent gas not lint. After he cleaned the vent and replaced with proper cap the dryer runs only a third the time it did with the old cap.

Description of Work: Toby showed up 5 minutes early for the appointment---extra points for that alone. He provided a first-class, comprehensive inspection of our chimney to determine where it was leaking rainwater. He identified and repaired a number of minor cracks in the chimney mortar and flashing that needed to be better sealed. No more leaks!! He knows what he's doing and he does it in a professional and personable manner.

Description of Work: A-better Chimney cleaned my dryer vent and discovered that the roofers had covered over the dryer vent when they put on a new roof and the dryer lent had no where to go. The entire vent was clogged and would definitely have caused a fire eventually. Thanks for saving us!!

Description of Work: Toby came out and looked at our leaky chimney. He determined that the crown and the cap needed repair/replacing and also that we had several loose bricks inside the firebox. when it finally stopped raining he came out and removed the old epoxy type coating on the crown (it had failed) and painted a new waterproofing coating on it. he also sprayed waterproofing all over the entire outside of the chimney all the way to the ground. he re-mortared the looses bricks and fixed the clean out door. it leaked again the next hard rain but I texted him and he came out the next day and fixed it at no charge. It didn't leak all of May during the constant downpours we had. He also put a new cap on which was considerably less expensive than another estimate. Plus he's local. I would definitely use him again and recommend to anyone who needs chimney repairs. He guarantees the product for 10 years. Very happy! |

Description of Work: I had a general contractor install a new chimney liner and when I had my first fire there was smoke coming into my house. Toby came and did an inspection and discovered a problem with the damper. He was very professional, courtesy and punctual. In communication with him prior to the appt. he was very nice and very responsive. He fixed the problem and thoroughly looked over the fire box and chimney. He was great and I felt he would not charge me for anything that didn't need to be done. Very personable guy and easy to work with! I highly recommend him.

Description of Work: I called Toby and he came to not only clean my Chimney but to look at the crack in the back of my Chimney. (The Fire box) I also had concern for the loss of air from my house because the flue was not efficient. Toby did a 21 point safety inspection listen to my concerns and came up with a way to get more heat from the fireplace into my house, (Heat reflector) not lose air out the chimney when the chimney wasn't in use (Ice Breaker Chimney Cap Damper) and to make sure I was safe when the fireplace was in operation (by repairing my firebox and the top of the chimney that was never put in correctly) Toby did a great job from start to finish. He is personal, explains everything well, and makes sure your home stays clean and protected. I was very impressed with the knowledge and service that Toby provided. Would use again and would recommend him to anyone.

Description of Work: Having used his services years ago, I called Toby for a return. Although he's about 20 miles from my house, he was very prompt and cost was no more than someone nearer to him. The design of my dryer vent is bad (too long and too many returns) and we discussed alternatives. The only real solution was busting walls, and I didn't want to get into that, as the dryer works OK...I just need it cleaned more often to ensure optimum performance. Toby was a professional in every manner. He worked hard, quickly and efficiently. I inquired why his card said services starting at $89 and he only charged me $79. He said it was $79 last time (6 years ago) and he would continue to honor that price for some time. I will use him more frequently.
