Description of Work: They installed a 50 gal Rheem electric water heater. We purchased the water heater at Home Depot. The store arranged the installation for us through Crew2 which then used Water Heaters Plus as their local installer for our area. The cost included the water heater and installation for $869, the permit fee for Columbus for $75 and installation of a new valve (to comply with code) for $95. We had purchased a drain pan at the store because they told us it would be required but the installer told us it wasn't required in an unfinished basement so we could return it. They cooperated when we needed to change the appointment that was scheduled for us but needed installation before a certain data to qualify for a Home Depot special financing offer. The installer worked efficiently and cleaned up well. There was a minor gliche regarding payment. The store had told us the installer would be able to verify and charge our credit card which was just opened. However, the installer said he didn't have that ability (although he would be getting it in the future). So he had me call in to their office the next day to complete the credit card charge process.

Description of Work: Went to their very fine website - used their "contact us" form to ask a couple of questions. No one ever sent a response. Their price of $564 - $25 senior discount plus permit etc. for a 40 gal Rheem water heater seemed very reasonable. I paid about $600 ten years ago for the water heater I am replacing. I ended up paying $625 elsewhere but I suspect that the $564 price from Water Heaters Plus may be outdated. From what I read here and my experience I suspect something is not right at this company.

The member did indeed send a contact form filled out on our site. We did respond to the email that was given. the member did not provide a call back number to reach him at. We also provide a phone number on out web site to call for immediate response. We do not sell water heaters through our email service, nor do we intend to. The contact form is intended to answer basic water heater questions. I am sorry that the member did not call us to purchase his water heater. Unfortunately, I purchased the water heater from another company. The water heater that was delivered was significantly damaged and needed to be returned. Fortunately, the company subcontracts with Water Heaters Plus. I received a better model than I originally purchased with intervention by Water Heaters Plus representative, who then installed water heater.
Description of Work: Price is installation of water heater only. Price did not include $40 permit or cost of water heater.

The 10 yr old original conventional tank began to leak and it was an emergency replacement. I called them on early Monday morning, and they were able to come over for an estimate later that same morning. They were unavailable until Wed and I was unavailable on Wed so we agreed on Thurs. They were very punctual that morning and completed the job in approx 5.5 hrs. They had quoted 5-6.5 hrs. No problems with the unit after several weeks. It was a huge expense but we decided to go green and expect to recover the costs in a few years. About 2 weeks later we needed additional plumbing work at a rental unit. They came and did a site visit. I never got the estimate despite calling two days later to ask for it. Seems if I spend an excess of $2,000, it might be worth following up a request for additional work.

However, the follow-up service regarding another plumbing issue that was discovered during the visit for the original problem was poor. The technician was to call on a Monday morning to schedule a time for the additional work. He didn't call and there appeared a lack of communication between the person scheduling the appointments and the technician. After getting an appointment for the following Monday, I had to cancel because of a funeral and I understood that the technician was to call me to reschedule. When a few days passed with no call, I called the company and was told the technician had taken a leave of absence. I was disappointed with the lack of communication.
Description of Work: Our home warranty company sent Water Heaters Plus! Inc. to fix a plumbing problem. The technician, J. Walker, did an excellent job of finding the source of a very troublesome leak. The quality of his workmanship was satisfactory.

The supervisor that contacted us on Sunday was very helpful and friendly. He let us know that, although they could replace it Sunday evening, they would not be able to get the best unit available to them until Monday morning, so we opted for that. The two workers who performed the job were good, but we wish that they had made more of an attempt to keep things clean as they traveled back and forth through our finished basement. They failed to bring with them the large plastic bag that is normally used to cover the old tank, and as a result, a lot of dirty water ended up on the carpet covering the basement stairs. I also wish that they had cleaned up the floor around the new unit better than they did. All in all, it was a good job, but I may have chosen a different company if the home warranty company had not done so for us. Also, we did not have to pay the full amount (1300), only 120 total, so I can't complain about the price.
Description of Work: Company was called to replace a 16-year-old water heater in our recently purchased home, that finally gave out (predictably, on a Friday night). We did not choose this company ourselves, but they were contacted through our home warranty company. The water heater was replaced on the Monday morning following the call that we put in on Saturday.

On Wednesday 21 June 2006, Water Heaters Plus installed a water deduct-meter in my house. After the installation, the water pressure to my outside water faucets was cut in half. I had another plumber come out and look at what they did. He said that my line was originally inch and they installed inch pipe, thus decreasing my water pressure. I called them on many occasions and asked if they would come out and fix the problem (6/30, 7/7, 7/10, 7/12, 8/1). When I spoke to them, they promised to call me back and schedule an appointment and did not. I had to speak to an owner of the company and complain. When I called on 8/1, they finally scheduled an appointment with me to fix the problem. However, on the scheduled service date of 8/4, no one showed up at my house to do the work. I had left work early to meet them. I called and asked when the plumbers would arrive and Ben told me he would call me back. He never called me back.

I HAD A REP FROM THE CITY COME OUT, WHO SAID THAT THE INSTALLER HAD NOT TURNED THE PRESSURE BACK UP AFTER DOING WORK. I WAS STILL WAITING TO PAY THE REMAINDER OF THE BILL; I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I HAD A WORKING SYSTEM BEFORE I PAID THE ADDITIONAL MONEY. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, I FOUND OUT THAT THE UNIT HAD BEEN LEAKING, AND DAMAGED MY LAMINATE FLOOR. I CALLED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT, AND THEY EVENTUALLY FIXED THE LEAK(AFTER 3 TRIPS) AFTER THAT, I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE AGAIN. I ENDED UP SENDING THEM A LETTER TELLING THEM I WOULD LIKE FOR THEM TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIR WORK FOR MY FLOOR, AND THAT I HAD SPOKEN TO THE MANUFACTURER, WHO SAID THEY WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM REFUNDING THE COMPANY FOR THE UNIT. I ASKED THEM TO REMOVE THE UNIT AND REFUND ME, OR JUST INSTALL THE ORIGINAL UNIT THAT I HAD ASKED FOR AT THE ORIGINAL PRICE. THEY RESPONDED WITH A CALL TELLING ME THAT THEY WERE TURNING ME OVER TO A COLLECTIONS AGENCY TO GET THE REMAINING BALANCE THAT I OWE.
Description of Work: I CALLED THEM TO INTALL A NEW WATER HEATER TANK. WHEN THEY CAME OUT, THEY SUGGESTED THAT I GO WITH A TANKLESS SYSTEM TELLING ME THAT IT WOULD BE MUCH MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT AND PAY FOR ITSELF IN 2-3 YEARS (INACCURATE INFORMATION). EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD BE $725 MORE, I WENT AHEAD AFTER ASKING THEM PLENTY OF QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SYSTEM AND IT'S BENEFITS OVER A TANK SYSTEM. FROM THE BEGINNING, I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. I HAD VERY LOW WATER PRESSURE. THEY ENDED UP CHANGING TO A BIGGER GAS LINE. AFTER THEY DID THAT, I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER GOING COLD DURING A SHOWER WHEN THE TOILET WAS FLUSHED. I SENT THEM A LETTER REQUESTING REMOVAL OF THE UNIT AND REPLACING IT WITH A TANK. THEY SAID BOSCH WOULD NOT REFUND THEM ON A RETURN OF THE UNIT. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER (BOSCH) TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT THE TROUBLE WAS. THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS AND RECOMMENDED I CHECK THE WATER PRESSURE.

Member's complaint is bogus and the simple fact remains that he never paid for the unit and the install in its entirety. In fact, he wrote a partial payment clearly stating in the memo on the check, balance due $725.00. He was informed that the lager unit was recommended for his home, however he didn't pay for the recommended model. He didn't pay for the unit that was installed because he didn't like it. After complaining several times and WHP attempting to appease him and he then claimed his floor was damaged due to a leak in the unit. Had he paid for the unit in full, and he didn't like it , we would have been willing to remove the unit and replace a more suitable unit for his home and budget. Therefore, he got what he paid for, a single-fixture unit. Unfortunately, he failed to take into consideration the single-fixture part until it was too late. We explained to him that the normal usage may have to be altered in order for the unit to work properly in his home. WHP is still attempting to collect the rest of the payment from him and will continue until the balance is paid. His outstanding balance is $725.00 plus late fees making a total of $797.50. APPOINTMENT SET FOR AN ESTIMATE TO INSTALL PLUMBING, AND TANKLESS WATER HEATER. MR. RUBY FAILED TO KEEP APPOINTMENT, AND THEN ENDED UP BEING LATE FOR AN APPOINTMENT THAT WAS SET FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY. GAVE A REASONABLE VERBAL PRICE QUOTE. I ASKED FOR A WRITTEN ESTIMATE BEFORE BEGINNING THE WORK AND MR. RUBY SAID HE WOULD FAX IT. NEVER RECEIVED THE WRITTEN ESTIMATE SO I DIDN'T USE THIS COMPANY.
