Shame on me for not writing this review earlier (I thought I had). Needed to replace 2 steps that I had just had put in two years earlier that were crumbling and very unsightly. From the beginning everything went perfectly........Provided a quote in a timely manner, FRIENDLY, started the work when he said he would, great quality/craftsmanship(an art that is lost on many), VERY NICE, excellent price, RESPECTABLE!!!!!!! Let me not fail to mention his son that worked side by side with him on this project.. And yes, he was just as FRIENDLY, NICE, RESPECTABLE and performed the work with great craftsmanship!!!!! I will be calling him soon about some additional work. My only regret is that he does not do everything I might ever need for my house....that would be like a dream come true.
Description of Work: Tore down and built 2 steps and tuck point along the back of house.

He did 2 jobs that were scheduled and completed them on schedule. But since the completion, one of the jobs had to be redone, the tuck pointing, with no explanation from the mason. He came back and fixed it, but after the winter, I went back outside to look at it, and some of it has cracked again. I have called his home phone and left messages and cell phone number which the voicemail has never been set up, so I have been unable to leave a message. I have also tried to email his son Jay who lives with Rich, but with no response. It was only after I filed complaint with Angie List that Mr. Nowicki finally called. He then said he had told me about settlement and that tuck pointing would not resolve problem, to which I told him that was entirely false, end of conversation. When Mr. Nowicki and I met in May 2013 nothing was said about footer sinking causing need for tuck pointing. Again nothing was said at the conclusion of both jobs in Sept. 2013. Then when Mr. Nowicki had to repair tuck pointing in Nov. 2013 he statement was " I have no idea why the first tuck pointing failed in some areas". Now six months later he claims he had told me about footer sinking which may be what he was thinking but never communicate his thoughts. I for sure would have put off the tuck pointing knowing the house footer was sinking 45 years after being built, it would make no sense to waste time and money. Mr. Nowicki may be referring to the other job where the front porch needed to be removed with the suspicion that the porch footer had slipped causing the brick under cement pad to crumble. This is why I made it mandatory to remove concrete pad to find out what was causing brick movement and failure. After seeing soil opened I saw the two top coarse of block slip from the two bottom coarse atop footer. Also this concrete porch is separate from house as per city building code.
Description of Work: .First job was to repair front porch, second job was to tuck point brick ranch.

We tuck pointed more cracks on (member name removed) house that he seen at no extra charge. At that time, I told him that it looks like your footer is sinking. He disagreed. A couple of months later, (member name removed) said the mortar cracked on the corner of the garage. We came back out and repaired it, at no charge, telling him again the footer is sinking. (member name removed) called again this year for the same reason, and again I told him the footer is sinking. Tuck pointing the brickwork will not hold the footer up. You need to call a engineer. He has other issues than just tuck pointing.

Came out and gave us an estimate. Prepared a contract immediately which was a big help. The price was agreed upon and an approximate date was determined. He came and we mutually decided that an alternative method could achieve the same affect at a lower price. Work was performed and we were very satisfied. Very polite, punctual, and responsive.

Rich and his son did some tuck pointing for me and repaired a chipped piece of stone on the steps for my front porch. They showed up on time - did the work as quoted - and even pressure washed my front walkway. Would recommend them with no hesitation. In fact they're going to come back and do some chimney repair work for me in the Spring.

Richard Nowicki was returned all my calls at least at the end of the day, gave me the best price quote for the work (compared with 3 other contractors), and honored this price after work was done. During the estimate he was also inspecting the foundation of my house (even though I didn?t ask about it) and found some minor problems with cracked bricks and loosens joints. He fixed all those issues as well for just a little extra. Overall, he was professional all the way, did great job of rebuilding my chimney from the tuck point (at least it looks great :) and replacing flue liner. All mess was cleaned up. I would definately recommend this contractor for others.

It is always good to have a response from the person you are trying to get an estimate from. We had a prompt reply and visit to our home. The discussion of what had to be done was nicely detailed and the cost was reasonable.
Description of Work: Richard and his son were excellent. We have recommended them to many others. We had brick work done on the front of the house (including redoing work someone else had done just a couple of months earlier--the other group did a poor job--Richard and son had to grind out and tuck point cracks). Bricks and block by the corner support were also repaired. The wall was plastered below the bricks. The work was waterproofed. On the side porch one side wall was torn down and replaced with new bricks with matching mortar to the rest of the house. The work was also waterproofed. Cleanup was well done. Absolutely no complaints.

Rich and his son, Jason, did a fabulous job. I would definitely hire them again. Also, I would recommend them. They arrive on time, work very hard (and it was during the excessive heat), and are neat. Rich keeps you informed as to what he plans to do that day.
Description of Work: Rebuilt the front porch ... removed first stone tread and bricks and replaced with new bricks. Ground out old mortar, tuckpointed missing mortar from front and sides. Matched old mortar beautifully. Powerwashed and sealed. Also, removed front sidewalk and layed new concrete and sealed. Ground out and tuckpointed cracks and missing mortar from around house foundation. The step and walk were in terrible disrepair and now look great.

He did exactly what was contracted for and more. The front steps turned out to be more of a job than anticipated. It was a possible accident waiting to happen. Once he started to repair the steps, we found out the existing foundation for the steps (what there was of it) really needed to be rebuilt. They did an excellent job matching the new bricks to the existing structure on all three sets of steps. My home looks much better now due to their workmanship, truly professionals. Rich and his son always kept me informed of what was happening and when. They were there when they said they would be. They kept a clean work site every day. After each day's work, the site was cleaned up. They are very pleasant people to work with.
Description of Work: If you really want someone who knows what they are doing, Rich and his son are the professionals to call. Rich promptly returned my call and provided an estimate for: Demolishing and replacing two sets of brick steps located at the back of my home, Repairing an additional set of brick steps in the front of my home, Repairing numerous flaws in the bricks around the foundation of the whole house, Tuck pointing the bricks across the front of the house, Replacing some driveway cement around the rear steps to provide the correct drainage away from the foundation, Sealing the new cement and steps, Tuck pointing and finally, Power washing the front walk and steps

Left phone mail and he called back within an hour. Came over and gave an estimate. He said it would be about a month and 3 weeks later he came to do the work. He arrived on time. He did an excellent job of matching the brick and mortar to the old bricks. Even if you know it is a repair you can not tell the difference between the old an new. He not only cleaned up after himself but cleaned my patio.

Rich came out quickly after our first connection on the phone, he brought his full book of example work and testimonials. He gave us an estimate that evening after looking at the job. We compared his estimate to one other and his expertise and price was superior and we decided to hire him quickly after receiving the info. They came out within a week and worked the better part of a day, completing the work. My husband did a punch list walk through with the estimate in hand and pointed out a couple of items that still needed to be done, Rich complied right away and we were satisfied and wrote the check that evening before he left. We are so very happy with the work we would absolutely hire him and his crew for any brickwork in the future!
Description of Work: They raised our front window well, brickwork, and also tuck pointed areas all around the exterior. They removed an old vent that was no longer in use and toothed in brick that not only matched beutifully but they also managed to carefully match the mortar as well.
