Description of Work: We had four light fixtures---two inside ceiling lights and two outdoor lanterns---that were not working. Mick from Walls Carroll diagnosed each, determined what fixture components would be needed, picked up from a nearby supplier whatever he did not have on hand, and finished the work promptly in spite of minor complexities with disassembling the outdoor lanterns. We thought the price very fair and the work of excellent quality. This is a fine service provider.

I first called Walls Carroll Electric on April 22, 2010 to safely turn the power back on to a dinette area, and get the above work done. Jeremy came by the very next day, 4-23-2010, inspected and got the power back on to the dinette area, and got the four above items scheduled in for April 29, 2010. He came back as scheduled and did a great job on the four items. I really appreciate Jeremy paying close attention to all the details of the job, including securing the landscape light connections with lug-nuts. Even though it was a small job, Walls Carroll Electric did outstanding work in all parts of this project. We have used them before and will most definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Installed switch for outside (garage door) flood light, replaced an Ivory Stack Switch in master bedroom, secured outside (front porch) GFI box and replaced GFI and installed inuse cover, installed 4 (customer supplied) landscape lights and wire. The net cost after the Angies List 10 percent discount was $ 288.

Mick showed up to give me a price on replacing my maxed out circuit breaker box. He explained in detail what he would do to bring my service up to current code. Mick was prompt, courteous and took the time to answer my questions. After getting a couple of other quotes I decided to use Walls-Carroll even though they weren't the least expensive. I felt they would do the best, most thorough work. Mick and Jeremy showed up on time, and completed the job as described in the quote. They did a great job, and the new circuit box looks much better and safer than the old one and also has room for a few more circuits. Cory in the office was also very courteous and helpful.
Description of Work: Replaced my circuit breaker box and service cable coming in from the meter.

I am very happy with Walls-Carroll and exceptionally happy with Jeremy. This is the second time Jeremy has done work in our house; both times he as been punctual, very polite, friendly, and professional. He seems very concerned with the customer getting their money's worth on a service call. He answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. I appreciate the extra information he gave so I know what to look out for when it comes to electrical issues. I am very grateful that he thought to go out and check to see if he had any extra ceiling lights. Not having a light in our guest room would have been a bit of a nuisance. I would also like to add that the gentleman on the phone who took my service request was friendly and polite and got a repairman out to me as soon possible.
Description of Work: I initially called Walls-Carroll to come out and check on an outlet. I was concerned because I could hear a ticking noise in the wall and it felt warm where I could hear the noise. The warmth seemed to extend to an outlet. On later inspection I noticed the warmth had gone away when the furnace shut off. I surmised that the warmth was coming from a furnace duct, but I asked them to come out and check it anyway. I mentioned on the phone that if it ends up being nothing, if it was possible to have the repairman do some other work around the house. He said that would be absolutely fine. Jeremy called me about 20 minutes before he showed up just to give me a "heads-up." I showed him the outlet and area of concern. He assured me that there was no need for concern and that the warmth was indeed coming from the furnace and later explained that the ticking noise was a normal noise that occurs with some rectangular shaped ducts when the heat comes on. He explained to me what I should look out for, such as warm outlet covers, which are more indicative of electrical problems. I mentioned the other issues in the house, door bell replacement and lighting fixture replacement, which he was more than happy to replace. Since having Jeremy replace the ceiling fan in my son's room was very last minute, I asked that he replace it with the ceiling light in our guest room and leave the wires capped in the guest room. Since he knew that we would be without a light in our guest room, he went out in his van and found a celiing light to install in my son's room. The ceiling light matched my son's room and we were able to keep the other ceiling light in the guest room. I also had mentioned that I wanted to have some additional GFI outlets put in the kitchen, but he explained that since I already had two I did not need anymore because the "non-GFI outlets" were connected to the ones I already have and have the same protection. He checked the outlets just to make sure. When he was done with all the work, he asked if there was anything else to do. I mentioned that we planned on having Walls-Carroll replace some of our indoor and outdoor lights. He asked if he could check the kitchen light since I mentioned that I wanted it recentered over our dining table. He wanted to check and see how recentering would affect the wiring. He did not think it would be a problem. In the end, he charged me for 3/4 of an hour and for parts. He only charged me $20 for the ceiling light.

Upon completion of install (which was neat and tidy) I noticed the cable reception on other TVs were not as good, though still working OK. The WC electricians stated that I should have Insight install better splitters in our box. Insight came and installed better splitters, which cleared up the TV noise. However, a day later, the internet connection kept going out. After another 1.5 hour Insight service call, it was determined that the poor service was linked to electric noise pinpointed to the new line installed by Walls Carroll. Insight made a few other adjustments that cleared up the internet problem (at least for the time being). I made WC aware of the situation and they assured me they will fix the noise problem if it continues (so far it's been OK).
Description of Work: Had new cable line for TV installed. They were prompt and courteous. Hindsight, I should have just called the cable company - Insight claimed they would have charged less than $75 for the service I paid Walls Carroll $230 for. Plus, I would have had all of the trouble-shooting done in one service call (vs three). I also should have requested rates up front. I did not realize Walls Carroll would charge an hourly rate PLUS a service fee. In summary, they did what they said, but at what I think was a fairly high price.

We had a great experience with Tim at Walls Carroll Electric. From the start, he was extremely courteous, calling before he came and putting coverings over his shoes when he came to the house. Tim, then talked to me in depth about the problems we were having and the things we wanted done. Not only did he make sure that we looked at all of the potential causes of our problems, but he outlined several different options of how we could remedy them. I really appreciated that Tim took the time to educate us and lay out the pros and cons of the different remedies available. Tim also recommended certain things we could do to help save money and other things where saving money in the short run might cost more in the long run. Overall, we really appreciated the fact that he tried to give us all of the information necessary to make informed decisions, but he didn't pressure us and let us make the decisions that were best for us and our budget. After we decided what we were going to do, the work was scheduled promptly. Tim called the morning of the work to let us know they were on the way. Once Tim and his partner arrived at the house, they were very clean and the job was done very well. We could not be more satisfied. We will definitely call Walls Carroll in the future to handle our electrical needs.
Description of Work: Repaired light and exhaust fan in bathroom. Repaired connection to light in hallway. Created a dedicated circuit for and installed new GFCI outlet in bathroom.

Mick Magers came out promptly once I called his company for an estimate. He was extremely helpful with information about the work needed, and shortly thereafter I received a detailed and clear bid that I signed and mailed back. Walls-Carroll had to wait till after the roofing company finished their work (which included installing the new attic exhaust fan) before doing the above electrical work. (This saved us a trip charge.) We keep in close contact, and Walls-Carroll came the VERY NEXT DAY after the roofers finished. Tim, an excellent electrician, did the actual work. He discovered the defective light switches that he then replaced. The correct sized replacement 80 CFM bath exhaust fan motors, as well as plastic screen ``cages'', had to be ordered from American Electric Motor. I really appreciated Tim paying close attention to the details of the job as these motors matched the high quality of the originals. Moreover, Tim was able to rebuild and clean the original fan units while installing the new motors. He and Walls-Carroll stuck with this project, even though fairly small, till the job was complete. The end results were outstanding.
Description of Work: Supplied and installed (3) three replacement 80 CFM bath exhaust fan motors for three existing bath fans. Replaced the existing light fixture in the office area with a new customer supplied light fixture. Supplied labor and materials to wire a new attic exhaust fan that was installed by a roofing company. Supplied and replaced a two-pin socket in an existing fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen. The above work was done per the original quote of $ 474. Additionally, replaced an Ivory Stack Switch in the study area and a single pde switch and 3 way switch in kitchen/living area for $ 60. The net cost after the Angies List 10 percent discount was $ 480.

The two electricians were fantastic. They arrived exactly on time, they went to work right away, they consulted with me as needed as the job unfolded, and they took pains to clean up the sawdust and other little scraps on the floor. Also, the estimator who came over (Mick) was great too. He was friendly, he listened well as I explained the situation and our needs, and he presented our options with clarity. I was so impressed -- and I'll definitely call Walls-Carroll again the next time we need electrical repairs.

I was able to receive an estimate over the phone and schedule the work with one phone call. I was able to schedule the work at the exact time and day I wanted the work completed. Tim arrived on time. He was polite and knowledgeable. Within 45 minutes he had all four fixtures replaced and working and also the outlet replaced and working. He wore shoe protectors to protect my carpets and he swept up the small amount of debris that was made when he replaced the outlet and one light. I was very pleased with Tim's cheerful disposition and with the work that was done.
Description of Work: Tim replaced four ceramic light fixtures in our basement and pantry. He also repaired an outlet that blew and was not working.

Tech came out to quote a job on one of my properties. The young man assumed that I didn t have any knowledge about electric; however I am a licensed contractor so I deal with subcontractors on a daily basis. Tech quoted me 10 hours on a 4 to 5 hour job. Tech also quoted me $400 for permits when in fact a scope specific permit costs between $85 and $125. The total of the quote was $1445.00 which was more than double the other quotes I received. This one tech might not be the norm for the entire company however I would be very careful using this company. Always get 3 quotes.

These guys did great! They were prompt, friendly and affordable. They did exactly what they said they would do, for the cost they quoted. This was the second time that I have used Walls-Carroll for electrical problems. Tim was a few minutes early, just like before. I like that. Came in, and got right to work. An hour later, two new outlets. Inexpensive, quick, no mess, Walls-Carroll are my electricians.

I got 5 quotes to replace electrical wiring. Walls-Carroll was 10% less than the next closest and less than half the highest. Tim and Jeremy were not just on time, but 10 minutes early when they came to give me the quote, and the day the service was performed. They worked fast; and more importantly, cleanly. Professional, punctual, and courteous. Would I hire them again? They are coming over tomorrow to install new outlets in the basement of my home.
