They did not solve the problem or do a good job triming the tree

Excellent work, excellent service. All my neighbors use them too.

They were knowledgeable, helpful, and provided what I thought was a very reasonable quote. Chad, our main contact, provided a quick, free estimate and helped me select a new variety of tree to replace my dead white birch and was very prompt in coming back to do the pruning and tree removal. The only problem was that there was apparently some miscommunication between some of the workers, because they did not return to plant my new tree for several weeks, and didn't contact me until I called and emailed them. They did come back and get the tree planted, though, and because they didn't charge me anything in advance - so I wasn't out any money for the work they hadn't yet done - it wasn't that big of a deal. Chad did apologize profusely and was very nice, and he did call me once the new tree was planted to give me instructions for its care. Overall, I will use them again, despite the slight snafu.

The experience overall was excellent. Contacted Joe about providing an estimate to do some tree pruining. He arrived on time when he was scheduled to show up. He did an assessment on the trees in my yard with me and was obviously very knowledgeable about the health of the trees and about what care they needed. He provided a detailed estimate within a day. When I called to schedule he said that it would be about two weeks before they were able to get me on the schedule. After 2 weeks he called as he said he would and they performed the work a couple of days later. I have used a couple other companies that are top rated on Angies List as well for tree trimming, Joe Russell Tree Experts provides the same caliber work, but was more reasonably priced. I will definitely be using them again in the future.

I had a good impression of his company after I talked to him. I saw a few people who used his services and he did a nice job for them. I was impressed with his demeanor and the workman who were working at another house near me were neat and did the work without sitting idol.

All was handled very quickly and professionally. The only hitch was that I asked them to call before dispatching to remove the three trees and they did not do so (I was afraid that our dogs would get in the way of their work or be hurt - apparently they didn't get in the way and were fine when we arrived home).

Joe arrived at the appointed time, was professional in every way. Work was performed as stated, cleanup was excellent. I will use Russell Tree Experts again as future work is needed. Trees look great!

They did a fine job and it was a special service. They showed up on time to do the work and their prices were very reasonable. If need be, then I would use their services in the future too.

The trees at our new wooded home had not been pruned in years. We called Joe Russell based on a neighbor's recommendation and their BBB report. Joe came out and estimated the work and a few weeks later I was ready for him to begin. His crew arrived with a large bucket truck and a bio diesel powered chipper/shredder, they worked quickly and meticulously. I was amazed at how well trained his crew members were acting under the direction of the arborist. We're very pleased with the work they did and the care they showed for our property and many trees.

The one tree was trimmed as I think it should have been. My only complaint with that one was that a bucket truck left a divit in the front yard. I called and mentioned this, and Russell came out promptly and added some topsoil to the divit. I had a large broken branch taken out of another tree. I had wanted more branches trimmed, and they were not. However, I had mentioned that verbally, and that work was not in the work order that had been signed. I could have been more specific, and I think the additional trimming would have been completed.

They were excellent and I would use them again in future.

There is nothing much that stands out about them, but my birch tree was pruned a little too much. I feel that the price was reasonable.

The price was very fair and they did top quality work. The crew was very careful and not only were they careful, they were caught in a rainstorm and continued to work until they heard thunder. They finally came down and waited under my porch with hot coffee for a call. They returned the next morning, promptly, and finished the job. It was an unusual experience that they were working on the job in adverse conditions and came back the next day promptly. The price did not change. He is reliable and I think this is a great referral! This was a great test to the dedication of the crew and supervisor.

They did a good job. The only thing I was unsure of was that they charged sales tax which several of the other companies did not, but they were the lowest of three bids. The trees were trimmed well. The stump was done three weeks later, but I wasn't worried about that.

Joe and his crew's approach to the work is highly professional operation. His team is well qualified and it was apparent to me that there were well trained in safety measures above and beyond what I have observed with other companies. Joe is a certified arborist and pruning work is done according to the ANSI A300 standard. The equipment used appeared to be well maintained. All of the work was completed within one (1) day. The crew was on site and began work at the time promised. Joe had to field many questions from my neighbors who, although briefed by me in advance, were nevertheless curious about the activity. Joe addressed their questions in a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional manner. I used email to with the purpose of detailing the requirements of the job and to obtain three (3) proposals. Joe responded immediately, one firm did not respond at all, and the other's response came five (5) days after Joe had provided his cost estimate and was at a significantly higher in price.

The pricing is excellent, they don't ruin any of the plants in your garden- they always clean up the area. He takes pride in his work and always does a great job.

I hated to cut down such a tall, old tree, but Joe Russell at least made the process pain free. He called me back quickly and gave me an estimate that was significantly lower than other companies. On the day of the tree removal, I left for work and returned to find the tree and all of the limbs that had fallen in the windstorm gone without a trace. The lawn and the plants around the old tree looked untouched. The team returned about a week later to grind the stump.

The tree was 28 years old, so fairly large. The January ice storm and February windstorm left it leaning towards the house at about a 40-degree angle with roots beginning to pull out of the ground. Joe replied promptly to my email request and put it near the top of his list because of its precarious condition. The tree was on our property line and it was necessary to bring their bucket truck into our neighbor's driveway, and he made sure that we got permission from our neighbor to do so before starting. His workers showed up exactly when they said they would and the job took exactly as long as they said they would. At our request they cut the trunk into lengths suitable for our fireplace and stacked them with the rest of our firewood. They cleaned up so well we couldn't even tell they'd been here. They currently rent their stump grinder so were unable to grind down the stump the same day that they cut down the tree, but they came back about 10 days later to do it, and did not charge us for it until it was done.

I chose this company based upon their previous Angie's list reviews and the fact that several said they were recommended by OSU. Joe came out and gave us an estimate and was the cheapest of the three estimates. He was very knowledgeable and it is great that he does everything through email. His crew worked efficiently and they cleaned up very well when they were done. During the process of cutting down the tree, the sidewalk was damaged. Joe called the same day to apologize and arranged to repair it. The sidewalk was fixed within a week and it looks great! You can tell that Joe cares about his employees and his customers and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing tree work.

Working with Joe was great. He is pretty tech-savvy, so we were able to do initial contact, estimate and signed agreement all over email. Joe then called to follow-up to let me know when the crew would be out. They did an excellent job, didn't leave a mess and were very nice about moving branches and equipment to let my wife out of the garage. Joe called the next day after the work was completed to make sure I was happy and if there were any questions. Because the cables on the maple were so inconspicuous, I wasn't able to see them and wasn't sure if they were actually there. Joe came out and pointed them out to me and explained why they were necessary and when additional cable should be added as the tree grows.

They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They were very good about clean-up. They were efficient and quick. All of the work was done in half a day. I paid the estimate that I was given. I was happy with the end product.

They did a good job. They worked over e-mail. They were very courteous. They cleaned up the mess. They showed up on time. They did the job in a timely manner.

There was a delay in getting them to come out to work on my trees because of a weather storm that caused extension tree damage. I had to keep calling him to have him come out to take a look at my trees. I called him at least three times. He should have kept me informed of the reasons for the delay.

Overall it went well. They called us and followed up after their first visit to come by and do injections again. They were here within the time frame they said, and did some other houses in the neighborhood at the same time.

Joe was on time for FREE estimate appointment and followed up with next-day emailed quote. On time for job with professional, conscientious crew. Work well done in timely manner. Crew respectful of existing landscape. Careful and complete clean-up. Excellent job, well priced and executed. Will use them again next year and am already recommending them to others.
