+ 1 moreIt took Muth two weeks to contact me with an estimate. They first put me on the schedule to be estimated, then said it would take a week before the estimate would be ready. This was a bit long. It's not rocket science here. Anyway, they wanted to send a sales person by to explain the estimate which I opted out of. I asked them to mail it to me. By this time I had already decided to go with another company that could stop by when I was home and give me an immediate estimate. Which was nearly 20% lower. Muth was very professional and polite.

+ -1 moreQuotation was complete and professional (the best of those that we received). All of my questions were answered with regards to scope. Project has a 2 year warranty on labor, and factory warranty on the skylights (10 years). The final project was completed to my satisfaction, and looks really good. However, it took three separate trips to finish the inside wood trim. On the first trip the worker didn't bring the right size ladders, and had to reschedule. On the second trip a crew of three arrived, but they weren't able to make clean mitre cuts on the trim, and after five hours on site they had to reschedule. The third trip was a charm, and experienced people came to the site and professionally completed the work. I discussed this problem with the company owner, and he said that he would review the training required for future projects.
Description of Work: Replace two skylights. Remove old skylights. Install new Velux FS 606 skylight. Install new Velux FS 601 skylight. Install ice and water shield. Install new shingles and flash kits. Trim skylights on the inside with wood trim and paint. Clean and haul away all job related debris. 1/2 down payment due at signing, balance due upon completion of job. Any bad wood will be an additional charge of $50.00 per sheet or $5.33 per linear foot of sheathing board.

He sold value, not price. They were also very patient with us since we took a long time to decide on a shingle/color. They fit us into their busy schedule, and the work crew was very polite. + -1 moreThis was an extensive project and we couldn't be more pleased with Muth's hard work and dedication. Ty (project manager) and his team were punctual, pleasant, polite and diligent. The team kept us constantly updated on the progress and partnered us in handling the challenges that arose. For example, when they removed the old soffits they found that our rafters were completely rotted. They had to replace all of our rafters which was not part of the original estimate for cost or timing. We were really concerned to find this out and Ty assured us that they would help us out. In the end, they didn't even charge us for fixing the rafters which would have cost $1600! Throughout the project, Ty and his team provided lots of ideas that improved the quality of the soffits & molding, but didn't nickel & dime us on the upgrades. Their work maintains the history & character of our old house. Muth went above and beyond our expectations.. We definitely recommend them and will use them again!
Description of Work: We live in a 125 year old house which needed all box gutters/soffits to be replaced. We hired Muth to remove the old box gutters & aluminum facia and replace them with new wooden box gutters & crown molding. It was a big job that took them about 2 weeks to complete (they ran a couple days over the initial projection due to weather delays which were out of their control). Since we were having the box gutters rebuilt, we decided to also have exterior lights installed under the soffits. Muth was very accommodating in working with the electrician. They even helped the electrician run wiring through the soffits. Muth did a great job of working through all the challenges that our old house presented them. We live in a historical area with very close neighboring houses. At one point, Muth had to trim down one of their ladders to fit it in between the homes! They even took our neighbor's name & address to send them a thank you note for having to go up on their roof to install our soffits!!

+ -1 moreI ended up with a very nice roof. I had a few small problems. I had to let them know that there were three layers, yet the estimate was just for 2. I ended up having to pay for the disposal of the 3rd layer but not the removal of it. Secondly, there was some confusion about the needed wood. When the final bill came, the cost was a shock. The wood cost was twice what I had estimated. We spoke twice about the wood (and they just left a message the third time). There was also some greasy residue left on my siding by the product they used to clean up marks made (nothing major though). Overall, Muth & Co. did a nice job. They worked hard, cleaned up well and met my expectations. If I had it to do over, I would meet with Arrow roofing a second time to ask them about the differences in the estimate/work. Their price was definitely better.
Description of Work: My whole roof was replaced by Muth and Company. There were three layers of tile on my roof that needed to be removed, and a large amount of wood replaced.

+ -1 moreMuth's assessment of the roof determined that the roof required replacement. With that assessment, no repairs were made. However, Muth did provide a quote to replace my 10-year old roof. An alternate roofing contractor repaired the work and believes that Muth's assessment was excessively harsh and not performed with my best interest in mind.
Description of Work: My 10-year old home, with 30-year shingles had some shingles blown off in a storm. I asked Muth and Co. to inspect my roof and to repair the missing shingles.

+ -1 moreMuth's estimate was in line with their expert work. They were on time and completed the work in the time frame expected of a thorough job. The worksite was left in perfect condition. There was not a loose nail in sight. Needless to say, the repair was water tight.
Description of Work: They completely replaced 1/2 of a new roof because of faulty workmanship of another company, Capital Roofing and Siding. Muth replaced flashings and roof vents. They had to create ventilation because the previous company merely nailed the ventilation covers in place and failed to create an airspace.

+ -1 moreAnother company had roofed my home incorrectly and Muth had to start from the beginning. They did leave some debris in the house that did fall into the house but they did come out and took care of everything in a very professional manner.
Description of Work: They had to do a complete tear off clear down to the rafters, replaced new sheeting wherever needed and used a felt pad underneath shingled the upper part and placed a rubber roof in other section. They put on gutters and gutter guards.
