+ -1 moreIt did take some extra calls on my part to make sure they rec'd my signed contract, but as busy as roofing companies in our area must be this year that didn't surprise me. The roof looks great, all the flashings were inspected, painted and sealed, and all the gutters (including on my detached garage) were cleaned. They left the bill and a very thorough report on the condition of every thing on the roof, including how long they expect it to last, all of which is great information to have.
Description of Work: I called Muth for an estimate after I noticed a missing shingle after a March windstorm. They inspected the roof and gave me an estimate explaining that they could do the repair as part of a full inspection & clean up (of flashings, etc) if I got the extended service plan. It seemed good to me so that's what I did.

+ 0 moreI called Muth to have them give me an estimate on the removal of a chimney and re-roofing over the area where the chimney would have been. They came out the next day(by 9:30 when they gave me a 9-12 window-and they called ahead to let me know they were on the way). After looking at the chimney, the technician said he didn't think it was a problem with the chimney(water leaking through the flashing or the chimney itself)but a furnace issue(condensation from an old furnace that was vented through the chimney and was seeping through the brick). He gave me very good, clear, honest advice even though it meant no business for Muth, was friendly and professional, was in and out in less than 20 minutes, and charged me nothing. After having troubles with some roofing companies in the past, this was refreshing.
Description of Work: Came out to give an estimate on possible chimney repair/removal. The chimney appeared to be allowing water from snow melt into the upper level of the house, causing extensive paint/wall damage.

+ -1 moreThey completed the job in one day and it appears to be ok. I am not happy about the lack of warranty coverage.
Description of Work: Muth had replaced our roof in 2004. Last month, we had a leak, causing water to run down our wall over our fireplace. They said it was caused by the flashing around the chimney, where it meets the roof. Although the roof was under warranty, they said this problem was not covered. I questioned that, to no avail. They repaired the area about 3 weeks later(delayed I presume because of the weather). It was not nearly the good experience we had with the original roofing job they did.

+ -1 moreWe had ice damming on our back roof. We noticed water leaking into our house Thursday night. Friday, I called two companies based on Angie's List information. Muth was able to answer my questions and had the best price for an emergency call. They came that day. My husband was there to meet them. They told him what to expect as the weather warmed up and the snow on the roof would melt.

+ -1 moreIt started off well with assurances of help. But with no follow-up calls or actual arrivals, we were left waiting. In fact, we were just on an inspection list when I told them we had flapping and missing shingles. The first person forgot to tell me the initial charge for tarping and led me to believe it was part of the estimate process. The second person did mention this and explained the payment could be done over the phone to avoid using time off to wait around with no appointment time. We got tired of waiting after two sets of 'today or tomorrow' with no-shows. So, we found another company which came out quickly.
Description of Work: After the latest wind storm, I called Muth among other roofers for help. I called them first thing Thursday morning and described the damage I knew of at that point. The person taking the call asked if I felt the area needed tarped. I replied, "well, you are the roofer, I just know that it was flapping in the wind and there seems to be some missing shingles, so yeah, I think it needs tarped. But, I figured you could take a look and know more." The fellow took my information and said they would call us or be there 'today or tomorrow'. So, the next day, I called to check in and got a different person saying we were not on the list for the tarp process, just an inspection. She suggested we get onto the 'tarp list' so I agreed and asked when we could expect them. She said 'today or tomorrow'. It is now 7pm Saturday. I cannot get anyone at their office (I tried twice, in the morning and afternoon) and no one has called or arrived. We had a 'drive-by door hanger' from another company (whch we checked here on the list) so I called them to immediately help us out, tarp the area, and start an estimate for our insurance company. If Muth could not get to us, they should have simply said 'we cannot get to you, call someone else'. That would have been honest and more helpful. I understand the storm damage is extensive and roofers are busy, but we were left wondering when they would come and worrying about further damage.

+ -1 moreI called the company Friday morning (Jan 30th). A sales person took a message. Lori called me at 10:48 AM, quoted $175 + $75/hour and said they would be "out today". I was disappointed that they did not come Friday, but Lori did call Saturday morning and said they would be out in the afternoon. She called just before 2:00 PM, saying they were on their way and they arrived in about 10 - 15 minutes. The team went right to work, cleared the ice build-up problem over the porch and an additional length of "at risk" gutters. Lori recommended a modification of the gutters after the snow melts to reduce the risk of the problem. They were done in 30 - 40 minutes.
Description of Work: Removed ice dam from gutter over three-season room. Water was leaking down wall in porch. The team leader, Lori, recommended follow-up to assess damage and preventative measures once snow has melted.

+ -1 moreFrom the first conversation with the telephone receptionist to the final meeting with Matt Gregory to settle the final invoice, my experience was outstanding. Within three days of calling the company for an estimate, Matt called me to set up a meeting to go over it and their company's process. During the meeting Matt was careful to explain the process to me in layman's terms. He warned me that due to the extremely high volume of work resulting from Hurricane Ike, it would probably take a few months to actually get the job done, but he would keep me informed of my progress up the scheduled projects board. He informed me of my status about every other week. On the day that the work was actually performed, the roofing team arrived at the time stated to me. They performed the work in a professional manner (absent of horseplay, profane language, etc.) and after completing the job meticulously cleaned around my house and placed my patio furnishing back in their proper place. Within one week, Matt and I met to settle the final invoice. At this meeting Matt provided explanations of all warranty paperwork and assured me that if there were any issues with the roof, I should contact him first and he would get out to my house to determine the best way to address it. I am 100% pleased with my experience with Muth & Co.
Description of Work: Replaced complete roof, damaged by the winds of Hurricane Ike.

We were guided through the process, they worked with our insurance company to be sure we were covered, were on time, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. I have now recommended this company to my dad and my great aunt. They also carry only quality materials. I know my roof will be in place 20 years from now!

+ -1 moreOur overall experience was below average. When calling to set the appointment for a roofing estimate it was scheduled then canceled a few days later. Then rescheduled and canceled again. I fully understand the weather conditions but the cancellations over the phone were handled poorly. There was no company name given on the voice mail just a person name and number along with we are rescheduling you for another time slot. The lack of professionalism was not reassuring.
Description of Work: No service has been provided. The set up of appointment time was canceled twice within a few days. Fully realizing the weather conditions for the cancellation. The return call was handled poorly.

+ -1 moreIt was a negative experience. I had a sales rep come out and I asked about 6 in. gutters since we'd had some problems with leaves but he highly recommended 4 in. gutters. The reason we had the work done is that we were having some runoff at the front and back of the roof. It was areas overflowing the gutter. It hasn't fixed the problem. I called him to come back out and he said well yeah, we could go with 6 in. gutters but it will cost extra. I was extremely unhappy with them. He supposedly redesigned the downspouts down to the roof by the garage to prevent the problem of overflow but it really hasn't done it. They didn't do the job the right way and haven't fixed the problem.

+ -1 moreThey were excellent. They called me back within the week. They came out as soon as they had someone out in our neighborhood and I was not required to be home. They called me to let me know when they arrived. Within 24 hours they had a crew out to fix it. They did a great job and tried their hardest to match up the new gutter with the old gutters.
Description of Work: We had a leak and where the garage is attached to the house. Where the two pitches meet they repaired the leak and put a gutter on.
