Muth & Company Roofing

When they finally were able to do the work they seemed to do a good job placing the shingles, but the new shingles were much lighter in color and very noticeable on the roof. When I complained to the owner, he expressed that he wanted me to be satisfied with the work, but there was no action to back this up. Other staff members at first denied that the shingles didn't match. After coming out and looks at the roof, they finally agreed, but offered only expensive solution, and insisted better match was not available. I did not feel they cared about me as a customer. They said they did but their actions showed otherwise. I would not hire them again. I do not believe a better shingle match was not available.

I never asked another company for a bid, I've had so many bad contractors, I only asked the highest rated. Everything went well, the roof was installed on time, and they were fine waiting for the rest of the insurance money to come in before getting fully paid. I did have a few complaints: 1) when they asked the insurance company to do a reinspect, they (Muth) said they would be there to go over the reinspect with the insurance company, but they (Muth) never showed for that. Fortunately, they insurance company decided to pay for the whole thing (originally, they were only going to cover some of the roof). 2) Asked for, and got, a tarp over the portion that was leaking (for an extra $100!). They put it on the wrong side. had to get someone out there to put one on the correct side. 3) When they were ready to do the install, they kept cancelling due to the weather. Apparently, they do not take a risk if it is even going to be cloudy that day. Anything over 30% chance of scattered showers, and they wouldn't work.

Our roof was damaged in the windstorm last fall. Muth came out and did temporary repairs. They worked with our insurance company. The process took a while, but Liz stuck with it and got the expenses covered. They had to wait out the bad weather, but as soon as they were able, the roof was replaced. It was a good crew, they did very good work, and they cleaned up any trash/debris. I was pleased with the results and upgrades to the roof.

They repaired the leak and then a few months later we discovered that we still had a leak and I don't feel that they were very responsive when I called them back about it.

I was looking forward to working with Muth because I had great confidence in their knowledge and professionalism as a result of their discussions during the assessment of the damage. However due to their professionalism, they chose to withdraw their bid when it become apparent there was additional hidden damage to the rafters that they did not feel qualified to repair. So, I may be submitting one of the few favorable reports for a company for work NOT done!

I was absolutely please with their service. They did a great job. They were very professional. They tell you what they are going to do and how everything is going to be done. Their proposal was more detailed than others I got.

They did a fabulous job with extremely impressive attention to detail. For example, we have decorative carved wood rafter tails all along our wood soffits, and even in places where they had to replace all of the wood on the soffit, the crew saved almost all of the decorative rafter tails and re-attached them to the new wood. Kelly, the salesman, was helpful, gave us great advice, was easy to reach, and came out to our house multiple times to answer questions. The work crew was prompt, efficient, and respectful. The work itself is really high quality, and they did a great job cleaning up and following up once it was done. We went with Muth, even though it was not the cheapest estimate, because they were the only roofing company we talked to (and we got estimates from many) that answered all of our questions and were able to meet all of our needs (eg, some wouldn't even consider tearing out and replacing our box gutters; everyone else but Muth told us they could not/would not install soffit vents since our soffits are wood). The end result is beautiful. We definitely thought it was worth paying a little extra. We have no regrets - our experience with Muth was absolutely worth the money. We would recommend them to anyone considering the investment in a tear-off roof job.

The sales person was very professional in explaining everything in detail concerning the estimate. It was very hot the two days they worked.

I'd done a little research re: roofing so we wouldn't be in the dark when salemen came to measure, discuss options, & give estimates. We chose Muth for several reasons: 1) they seemed to meet the requirements indicated in the research I'd done - appropriate and proper venting, flashing, ice guard, etc.; 2) they offered a complete roofing system; and, 3) because we chose Lifetime shingles, we were promised an inspection of the roof when it was finished. The roofers did a good job and did everything mentioned in the contract & they were courteous. Communication was a bit difficult because of our limited Spanish. I would have asked questions but it was too hard. The roofing job itself looks good. Unfortunately, the GAF/ELK shingles look horrible! We did not realize when we chose the highest grade shingles that they change colors. We live in a red brick house with bricks that vary in colors from medium orange to dark brick red. The Patriot Red shingles looked very close to the dark red in our bricks when we looked at them against the bricks. BUT, we didn't look at in the rain, on a cloudy day, or compare the color from morning sun/shade to afternoon sun/shade. The new roof sometimes looks orange, red, maroon, burgundy, or brownish. It also sometimes (too many times!) looks violet/fuschia. Imagine a red/orange brick house with a violet roof. I feel sorry for our neighbors who see it all the time. We considered two different colors but Keith from Muth told us that they were both new colors & that they hadn't put those colors on any houses yet. I would STRONGLY encourage anyone buying a GAF/ELK roof to VERY carefully consider the color change possibilities in GAF's highest grade shingles (& possibly their other shingles, too). One other negative: Keith repeated to us several times that if we didn't choose shingles & sign a contract within the week, the prices of shingles would probably go up due to transportation costs. I wish we hadn't caved to that tactic. One last negative: we were promised a complete inspection of the roof at no additional cost because we chose the highest grade shingles. Someone (who may or may not have been legit - we don't know because he didn't tell us his name nor give us a card nor was he wearing any kind of identification) came while it was raining and said he wanted to look at our roof. My husband said it wasn't a good time because of the rain. The man insisted. He climbed to our roof & climbed back down again within 2 or 3 minutes & left. It wasn't the inspection we were expecting! Our roof is too big to look at the whole thing in any detail in 3 minutes! One of our concerns was the soffit vents and whether they were covered by the insulation in the attic. We thought the inspector would look. Buy GAF only with great care and consideration. Don't expect a salesman to talk about anything but the serviceability & quality of materials and workmanship.

We called to schedule an estimate. We thought they would schedule a time to meet with us for the estimate, but they just showed up when weren't home. Luckily, one of us stopped by the house at the same time they were there. We wanted to be home for the estimate because there was additional items we wanted done in addition to the roof tear-off and replacement. It took two weeks for them to finally get back to us to schedule a time to discuss the estimate. By that time all of the other three companies we contacted for estimates had given us theirs and we had made our decision. We have no idea what their estimate was as we had scheduled the work to be done by another company.

Company was very helpful with my insurance company and professional in their proposal. Cost constraints of preparing an house for sale to settle an estate caused us to us a lower priced company. But, I would have hired this company under any other circumstances.

The entire experience was professional. When Keith sat down with us to discuss the estimate, the GAF product, and the warranty, we could tell he knew what he was talking about. He didn't try to sell us anything we didn't want and was very personable. He explained exactly what would happen, showed us diagrams of what would be used on our roof and brought along samples of the materials. He explained the warranty, answered all of our questions, and made sure several times we were getting the materials we chose. They started the roof about a month and a half later and finished in one day. The workers were friendly and protected our deck and flower beds with tarps. They cleaned everything up-you couldn't even tell they were there. I saw them run a magnet through our lawn several times to be sure they got all the nails. List of the work: did a complete tear-off of old shingles, installed ice guard, #30 felt, drip edge, 44 feet of ridge venting, one new soilboot, 39 feet of step flashing, 30 year dimensional shingles, painted all flashings to match, and hauled away all debris. This is a 1600 square foot home. They offer different warranties, but we felt the standard one was fine for us-we were also happy to learn it is backed by Good Housekeeping and transferrable to a new homeowner should we decide to sell the house. We did have a small issue with some shingles that looked raised in the back of the home, but Muth sent out a crew right away and repaired the issue, no hassle, no problem. Overall we are very pleased with our new roof-it looks great!

I enjoyed working with this company and they are now doing work for my son and a neighbor.

They repaired it but I still had a problem. I called them back and they came to repair it again. I haven't had a problem since. They had an excellent attitude.

Muth actually beat their installation time estimate. They originally stated it would be June, But finished in April. They were a little more expensive than the other bidders, but they were the best at describing what they were going to do.

I needed an emergency tarp to cover a roof leak and it was attached the end of January. Muth had a long list of people ahead of me for new roofs (doesn't that say something, too?) and yet they gave me and my roofing job their attention when I had questions, when they were on site, and their follow-up. I dealt with several people at Muth throughout the process and all were friendly and professional.

A large team appeared , worked till sunset; they finished the entire roof in practically three days. The gutter over the kitchen was also replaced. All of the workers were efficient, thorough, hard working, and we believe that a very good job was done. We asked them to move their materials, since we needed to pull our trailer on the weekend, and they moved everything very quickly. When the job was finished, they cleaned up after themselves very well (left our deck cleaner than before!). Unexpectedly, we asked the company to fix a barn gutter, and that was also done efficiently within the very short time frame. The only small problem that arose was with the cable dish repositioning - the cable guy had to come. However, we understand that roofers specialize in roofing, not in cable dishes!

I bought the Extended Service Plan last year and this is the second time Muth has come out for the annual routine service. They cleaned all the gutters,sealed flashing and miters among other "extras". The job was thorough and done correctly. There had been a small leak that had been corrected earlier and they checked to see if it was still okay and did some more sealing in the area. The workers were very friendly and cleaned and hauled away all of the job-related debris. Although this was a routine job these guys make sure that everything is fine and working properly.

This was a painless process. I was impressed by their polite receptionist when I called. The roofers who gave me an estimate were knowledgeable and explained my problem and the solution. The work was done and the mess was cleaned up. I received an Angie's List discount too! I also received a follow-up call to see if I had any questions or concerns.

The workers arrived, were courteous, did the evaluation, told me they would submit it to the home office and someone would contact me. This was all withing 48-to 72 hours of me calling. In the meantime, I called 2 other companies. One other came out within same time frame. I did not hear from them until around the 28th. Unfortunately, I had just given the job to another company. The sales manager, Kelly, called to personally apologize because the turn around time was not the norm for them (paperwork got hidden under something and on top of a weekend at that.) Kelly was great. I would hire this company in a second. Unfortunately, I just hired someone else. Kelly even followed up a few days later to make sure things had worked out with the company I chose (to see if ok'd by insurance).

It was a LOT of work...for us all...but they did just as they had promised and more. They encountered some surprises under the roof, but came up with solutions...and did it more quickly than projected. Clean up was prompt and thorough. The house looks really nice now, was snug and warmer through the winter and is solidly quieter now that spring storms have occurred. Keith, my Sales contact, was here throughout helping in many ways and making sure that I was pleased and satisfied, even personally fixing a few things I hadn't noticed. Definitely my 'A' Team!

Great job, promptly scheduled and finished. they even removed some leaf debris that was not out of the gutters they cleaned. I got a clean patio out of the deal.

They were very efficient, neat, and timely. Overall, it was an excellent job.

They were very customer service oriented and understood the nature of my problem.
