I have a new build home and wanted to swap out the basic faucet for an upgrade. John did an outstanding job...ten times better than the builder. Definitely recommend! Will hire again.

I called to request he come to give me an estimate on replacing whether stripping on my door. He asked me if there would be parking for his truck between 4-6 pm which is when he does his estimates. I told him I could not guarantee there would be a place right outside my front door but he should be able to find a place not too far. I told him during the day (normal business hours), he would have no problem finding a place outside the property. He told me he needs to be close to his truck to get his tools when he does the work. I'm confused, he doesn't need his tools to do an estimate so I am not sure what the problem is. He then told me that it sounds like this is not a place he would do work. I do not feel I was treated in a professional manner.

Response from Honey to Do Ltd
Angie's list allows the service provider to limit the areas they service. The customer acknowledged that parking could be a problem when asked. I explained that I do my estimates after 5:00 pm since I am working between 8:00 am and 4:30 at other customers homes. I have found that time to be preferred by most customers since they don't have to take time off of work. The issue is the lack of accessible parking to the customers home, both for providing an estimate and the actual work. I declined to schedule an estimate based on the customers response that there would not be a place to park after 5:00 pm.

It went really good. He was courteous, on time, pleasant demeanor, and within the estimated amount.
Description of Work: He did drywall repair, replaced a door knob, he did a door adjustment, and he also put in a new weatherstrip threshold. We are going from a carpeted hall way to a tile hall and he fixed the flooring transition strip. He filled in nail holes with putty as well and stained areas he repaired.

John Bronner, owner of Honey To-Do Ltd., was called when water leaks were spotted on ceiling beneath dormers. John was quick to respond to my request, showed up on time and quickly sealed the leaking areas, replaced the rotten wood, added the new locks and replaced the old rear entrance steps. as always, John was prompt, efficient, friendly, and gave honest advice to prevent future issues. He has been a true asset to our home's care and a reliable source of help in times of home service emergencies. I have recommended him to neighbors and strongly recommend his services to others.

This is the 2nd time John has come over to perform services for us - the experience has been uniformly very positive. He has done a wide variety of minor repair jobs - painting, caulking, woodworking, minor electrical work. He is very experienced and seems to know how to do anything. We already have a follow-up list of additional stuff for him to do. The biggest issue is that he's so well known and well respected that it takes a while for him to be able to work us in to his schedule, but the results are well worth the wait. Highly recommended...

Did a decent job on installing the flooring but had to call them back to finish closets - which were included in estimate. Some registers won't fit because of poor cuts but overall I'd say the flooring job is worth a B. The price was relatively high and getting estimate dates and phone calls or e-mails returned was a nightmare. Would not use them again.

Response from Honey to Do Ltd
We were able to be reached both by e mail and phone and responded in a timely manner. The customer failed to read the estimate where it listed the deposit due and did not send it in, until he was contacted about it. We did keep him on the schedule in spite of that so he could meet the dead line he had. Scheduleing was difficult due to the customer not being able to set a date. He was doing some of the work himself and didn't know when it would be complete. Once the date was confirmed we were there that day and finished the install within the dead line. The customer meet with the installer at the job site and covered what areas he wanted flooring installed and was told that he would need transition strips for the closets since he did not want them done. After the install He called the next day and said That he would like to have the closets done also. We went back and installed the closets at NO CHARGE. The closets were not included in the original pricing due to the areas the customer said he wanted done. work was completd per the customers request. The customer wanted to save money and was installing his own baseboard. The customer called frustrated saying that the baseboard he was installing would not fit behind the laminate flooring. I explained to him that it was to be installed on the top of the laminate and not behind the laminate between the wall and the laminate. I explained the space was there for expansion. We tried to help the customer as much as we could, even keeping him on the schedule when he did not send in his deposit right away. We did a Quality job per the customers direction.

He worked on the armoir for an hour putting some wood filler in the holes to anchor the screws and then adjusted the hinges. It works fine. He was on time. and I was satisfied with the work and the price. He has done various jobs for us before and I would definately call him again.
Description of Work: I asked John to see if he could fix the doors to my armoir that were sagging so we couldn't open the drawers. It has the European style hinges with three adjustment points. They had pulled out of the sides of the cabinet and the wood would no longer hold.

Items 1 through 7 were completed satisfactorily. Item #8 regarding the proper open/closing of windows in the master bedroom resurfaced as an issue when the buyers did their final walk through before closing on the home. We had to call him back to address the same windows in the master bedroom, at which time he did the following: Replace 1 bent window latch Checked window that buyer's said was not closed properly leaving gap at bottom, turned out no repair was needed and just shut the window properly He did respond on the same day as my realtor called (Dec 15, 2011) to make sure the repairs would not delay closing and charged a minimal fee. I wrote him an email explaining that I wasn't satisfied and he responded in a detailed email explaining that I wasn't specific enough about the issues with the windows in the master bedroom. In my opinion, I feel that if I tell an expert to make sure the windows are working properly, I would hope that they check the full functioning of the window including any broken parts and identify any other problems. The last minute visit could have been avoided and I don't feel I should have been charged an additional $65 for repairs that would have been addressed had John done a thorough job. Also, we had a few issues with phone communication. He had told me that he would show up Nov 16, 2011 but I didn't hear whether he had been by our home until over a week later when I called to follow up. Again, this was a vacant home for sale and we had moved out of state so communication was crucial. Overall, I think John's a good handyman based on our collective experiences and being willing to discuss any disagreements, but in this case, I don't think he did a good job.
Description of Work: Miscellaneous repairs to home that is vacant and on the market. Repair 2 pavers on steps to outdoor patio that had become loose Replace furnace filter Reset outside power for outlet Make sure all windows open and close Replace screens on all windows Re-attach door closer at bottom of front door where it pulled away Re-attach hand rail that had come off on front stairs leading to house Replace window balances in 2 jamb liner sets as needed and re-install/test operation of windows in master bedroom

Mr. Bronner was very prompt and very courteous. He repaired the hole in the bathroom wall, painted the bathroom ceiling and walls. Additionally (without additional charge) he repaired a hole in the hall wall, and tightened the loose towel bar in the bathroom. While waiting for the paint to dry, he put new grout along the bathroom counter - the bathroom looked terrific when he was finished!

I had contacted another contractor to do the work. He showed us jobs he'd finished, more costly then what we anticipated, so that's why we went with Jon, and we are so glad we did!

I originally confirmed this work with another contractor recommended by a neighbor that never followed up or showed up, and when I called to reconfirm everything, he raised the price. All I know is that the person's first name was spelled "Darin" with phone number (614) 595-1013 and he was doing this as a side project from his regular work. I'd never recommend him to anyone. After calling some window repair/replacement companies like Rosatti Windows, Windows Pro, and Teeters Construction, I learned the window was custom and costly to replace and most of those aforementioned places weren't set up to do that service. A contact at Rosatti referred me to John Bronner of Honey To Do as someone who would be equipped to do the repair if it was possible. The repair option was much more economically feasible and would avoid dealing with any additional approvals that I learned would be required because we live in Victorian Village (historic district). Our house was on the market, and we weren't able to be present during/after the repair. I was able to coordinate with John Bronner to get a key and do the work. I had my realtor follow up when the work was complete and she said he left the place in good condition and the work was done professionally. It was nice to be able to trust a contractor in my home.
Description of Work: Custom, square window in our kitchen had wood frame rotted and was causing leak into house whenever it rained. Re-use existing cladding, new cladding if available will be an additional cost to the estimate. We will not be responsible for any glass / Trim ( interior or exterior) / cladding / brick damage/ Stone / stucco ( breakage, cracking, chipping, scratching) ( Interior Drywall chipping or cracking) no repairs to interior drywall included or exterior surfaces). Care will be taken during the repairs and removal and re-installation not to cause any damage but there is no guarantee against any damage. Any repairs / touch up painting/ staining required will be an additional cost to this estimate. Any replacement material Glass, Glass stop, weather strip, glass beading / stop (wood or plastic), Jamb liners or Hardware will be an adincluded above.
