Some time in 2018 I noticed that rainwater was coming in through the storm door. I had my neighbor look at the storm door and was speechless as he noticed that it was installed backwards. A piece of plastic that goes along with the door wasn't installed as well which is what would've prevented water from coming in. I called the service provider about this and they were adamant that they didn't do anything wrong. I was advised to call the manufacturing company directly for this. This would cost me an additional $300 because the guarantee for the door was well over 90 days. Plus, somebody has to install this for me so it will be over $300 altogether. The check was issued on 10/10/2017.
Description of Work: They installed a storm door.

Unfortunately, I think you have the incorrect company as we do not perform this scope of work and we do not have you listed in our database. Please double check the exact name of the company as there are a lot of companies with “Honey Do” in the name.

The owner is a complete jerk. He is unresponsive, will only communicate via email. We asked repeatedly to call us via phone and he simply kept emailing us. He stated he needed to do this to have proof of conversations. He required us to sign a contract so he could begin the work over 6 months later. We had to track him down (via email) to see if when the work was going to begin. He gave us an estimated date that came and went. We eventually emailed again. He sent us the date and time and asked for 1/2 of the estimate to begin the work. We were trying to determine how we would arrange our schedules because we both work so someone could be home. It took us a little over 24 hours and he apparently gave that date away and offered us a date 2 weeks later. We asked to please allow us time to coordinate our schedules and we wanted to know how long he would be in our home. We wanted to discuss the project to understand how long it would take and would he just need to come in remove the window and would return at a later date. We asked for a phone call to discuss these details. He refused to call us and sent an email stating he was declining our project. After having us sign a contract AND making us wait more than 6 months. This seems like a very drastic measure when the request was simply for communication beyond email. We should have known better. Two local home renovation companies told us he was very difficult to work with professionally. Everyone said he is good at what he does but has VERY POOR customer service. Being nice to people goes a long way.

Response from Honey to Do Ltd
I believe we tried very hard to help this customer for many years. I meet with the customer on april 1 st 2015 at 4:30 pm at his residence. I did a walk through of the repairs that he wanted done and explained the process of how we do the repairs. This was followed up with an emailed estimate for the repairs that were discussed on April 1st. the estimate is detailed covering all aspects of the work. Including deposits, payments, authorization. I did not hear back from the customer again until March of 2016 nearly a year later. When he requested a revised estimate for the work. The revised estimate was sent to him on 4/10/16. Again I heard nothing from them until they contacted me on November 28 2017 asking for an estimate. I asked at that time if the repairs were for the same windows that I had quoted in 2015 and 2016 and he said they were with the exception that some repairs had been done and he wanted a 3 rd revised quote. He could not find his copy so I sent him another one and he returned it with the items highlighted that he wanted quoted. I submitted another revised quote for the highlighted items only on 12/06/2017. When he was sent the revised estimate on Dec. 06, 2017 the cover letter for the estimate clearly states that this is a springtime repair based on our current schedule. Please do not send in a deposit at this time. If you want to proceed please return a signed copy of the estimate and that the work is weather dependant. the customer signed and returned the estimate via email on Dec.06,2017. On May 1 st, 2018 the customer sent an email stating he has been waiting months for the repairs to be done. We had been waiting for the weather to cooperate so we could schedule exterior repairs that are weather dependant some of the products require a minimum of 50 deg. day and night to work properly. I asked him on May 2nd if he wanted to schedule may 21 st to start at 8 to 8:30 am. I did not hear back from him, so I sent another email on May 4th letting him know that June 6 th was now the next available date and that the deposit needed to be sent in at this time as well. He emailed back and now states he is unclear on what exactly we will be doing and that he will not be sending any money until he can determine the scope of the project, the scope is the highlighted items that he requested. The estimate states that the deposit must be paid in order to schedule the work and get materials and since the customer has already signed the estimate agreeing to the following verbiage, Specifications and conditions are satisfactory and are hereby accepted. You are authorized to do the work as specified. Payment will be made as outlined above. Estimate may be withdrawn by us due to scheduling conflicts. I was totally surprised by his actions and denial of what was going to be done. Since the customer refused to send the deposit the estimate was withdrawn and canceled and they were informed we would not be working for them. Under the heading of PAYMENT on the estimate, it clearly explains how we proceed with any work by having a signed estimate and the deposit and that is was sets the start date. We allowed them to not send the deposit on December 06,2017 when he sent the signed estimate, since we could not do the work until spring. We clearly told him in writing that we could not start until spring and the work would be weather dependent. It was by the customers own volition that this was canceled by refusing to send in the deposit. He never paid any money towards the deposit and we never worked on anything for them. We provided multiple estimates over multiple years for the same things. We provided things in writing for clarity and accuracy for the customer and for us. Thankfully we keep good records.

This was by far my best experience with a handyman type contractor. The only aspect that I didn't rate excellent was responsiveness, and that is only because there would be longer than usual periods of time with no updates. I would however receive a response shortly after I reached out on my own for an update. John was very trustworthy and upfront about the work to be done. He even gave us some tips on our DIY basement finishing project. To me, that really tells you that he likes to see things done correctly, which is extremely important. Unfortunately, we needed a custom size door, which bumped up the price considerably, and John checked with a few different suppliers to find the best deal for us. Just the door was nearly half of the total price of the job. On this particular project, I did not compare prices with different contractors, so I'm not sure if it's high or low, but it was worth it for the quality of work that was performed. John and his associate really did a nice job on the door. They took care with each step of the install, caulking and insulating where needed. Our basement already felt warmer the next day, it was cold then. Another detail that really impressed me was that they neatly caulked all the seams around the trim, a great finishing touch. In my opinion, it was well worth the money to have it done right, the way I would do it myself.

After I had a new tankless water heater installed, that installer left a hole in the wall to the outside where the new pipes ran. I called Honey To-Do and left a message. They returned my call promptly. I emailed them pictures of the problem and got an estimate. They were right on time arriving to do the work. The guy who came to the house was friendly and professional. He was efficient. He cleaned up. He also secured both locks on my backyard gates when he had to go outside to do some of the work (that was very important to me because I have a dog). I was SO SURPRISED with how great the job turned out. I can't even tell that there was a repair. I am beyond happy and would definitely use their services again and recommend them to anyone who asks.

John is nice and seems to know what he's doing. However, I asked for an estimate and got back a vague document with $0 on it. I asked for more detailed information and was told that he'd withdrawn his estimate. I guess this is OK if you're willing to commit to a contract where you don't know the estimated cost.

The work was fine. However, we left it that some more work would be done, and I would get a quote by email and then we could set up a date. I thought there was a plan in place to have more work done, and I was counting on that. Nothing arrived, and when I called two weeks later, I was simply told that it would be about a month until I could get any service.

The window was originally installed in a manner not easy remove and replace. All interctions were friendly and professional. He took the difficulties in stride and knew how to handle them. He was careful not to leave any mess. He did not break any of the finished window framing in the process. The work required two visits and the use of a partner in the actual replacement session. I'm happy to recommend him and would definitely use him again.

John is very professional, and I'm extremely pleased with his work. The microwave looks amazing and so does the new light fixture. He's very neat and cleaned up after his work, left everything spotless, and hauled away the old vent. If you want John, you may have to wait a little bit because he's in high demand, but his workmanship is worth the wait. I plan to hire him again to put in flooring.
Description of Work: John, the owner, installed a microwave above the stove, which entailed attaching it to the existing vent and adding 2 stainless steel filler panels between the cabinets. He first removed an existing vent above the stove and grounded the wires from it. Provider also installed a hanging light in the dining room.

I am very happy with the results, and am very glad we moved forward with Honey-to-do.
Description of Work: I needed a pool table light hung, but there was added complexity, in that there were no good supports to hang the light from, due to the drop ceiling in the finished basement. They also created a glass cover to enhance the entertainment center. John provided a through cost estimate via e-mail, and was very easy to coordinate times with. He was punctual, and completed the project within the proposed time frame.

Scott was very punctual and completed the work in a very efficient manner. While he did a great job with the doors, some do not latch properly. Being that we bought an existing home it could very well be that they were originally warped or not working to begin with, however, it would have been helpful had he called that out to my wife and explained the problem. We also were under the impression that the work was based on time and materials, but instead it was fixed bid. I put that on us mostly because we should have clarified before the work was started had we had any questions. John understood our mistake and threw in a couple doors at no charge. Other than that, John and his team were great to work with, they do quality work and are very nice.
