Ace Handyman Services is locally owned and operated by Westerville residents Paul and Laura Hammer. We specialize in everything from two-hour quick fixes to full bathroom remodels and everything in between. Our craftsmen are full time Ace Handyman Services employees who are background checked, insured, bonded, and average 15 years' experience in the trades professions. We service the northeast side of Columbus and its surrounding areas including Westerville, New Albany, Blacklick, Gahanna, Galena, Sunbury, Johnstown, Pataskala, Alexandria, and Croton.

Description of Work: Gave me an onsite estimate to install a kick out flash in my gutter. $240 I though it was too high so I turned it down. A week later I got a gutter installer/repairman from another company to do the exact same work for $75 and he did a great, professional job. These guys are just too expensive.

Thank you for the review. However, an F rating seems extremely harsh for a free, no obligation onsite estimate in which you decline our estimate and no work was performed. We checked with the craftsman and his price took into consideration labor for installation, time shopping, and material costs. In this particular case our pricing structure was not competitive. As you can see from our other customer ratings on Angie’s List our value really shows when there are multiple tasks to perform across different trades (for instance carpentry, drywall, and painting in one stop). We hope that you also take into consideration that all of our labor is guaranteed for one year as well as the materials we purchase on our customers’ behalf, our craftsman are full time employees who are background checked, bonded, and insured; and our local customer service staff schedule exact appointment times. We hope you reconsider your overall rating and try us for a list of projects.

Description of Work: Needed to update some faucets. The shower apparatus needed pipe cut which I wasn't about to do. Guy came right out as promised and completed its right the first tme.

Description of Work: Scott has done a lot of work for us over the years. Recently he helped with a bathroom remodel that my husband was doing. Scott replaced a bath tub with a beautiful shower. He did some nice ceramic tile work for us on the floor. It seems that he can do most anything we ask him to do. He is also a really nice guy.

Description of Work: They installed a larger replacement fans in one of our bathrooms. All was fine - efficient, cleaned up well, etc. The only thing they forgot to do was put the grate on the outside of the fan.

Description of Work: We used this service to fix minor issues on a rental property; a front door that wasn't shutting correctly and loose carpet on a stairwell. We also added fixing a leaky faucet the day of service. First two items, were taken care of. On the sink, it was determined that the faucet was faulty. He provided an estimate to replace the faucet and husband reviewed with the serviceman which faucet to purchase. Faucet purchased and installed, still leaking. Determined faulty faucet. Serviceman returned faucet and then following told my husband he would be billing for the time to return and re-do the faucet. | |This should've been addressed in the change order up-front, not following the repurchase of a new faucet. It nearly tripled the price of a lower end faucet. For that price, we could've put in a higher-end ourselves. This communicated to the vendor in a follow-up call and best they could offer was 10% on future service. | |There will be no future service. Missed opportunity for the company to correct an error on their side and eat some of the cost.

I have attempted to reach the customer via email and phone several times. After reviewing the paperwork I agree that the extra labor due to a manufacturer defect was more than should have been charged. I have reviewed this rare manufacturer defect situation with our craftsmen and office staff for training purposes. It is our standard procedure to provide change orders "before" work is preformed. The craftsman appears to have made a mistake by not discussing the additional work before the work was done. I invite our customer to call me personally so we can discuss what a fair refund is for both parties. We value satisfied customers. Paul Hammer - Owner.
