Deck Masters

Excellent quality and careful attention to detail helped the crew work through several problems. We have lived with the deck for 4 months and are very pleased with it. The only suggestion I have is that the members of their crew not smoke on the job. Even though it was outside, I prefer no smoking on my property (although there were no butts left on my property). We had miserable weather during their work, that resulted in lots of mud, but they worked through the problems and kept all of their promises. They also answered my many questions and even provided me with touch up "paint" to cover a few cut edges that were showing (due to the floor pattern). The new deck is beautiful and easy to keep clean. I highly recommend this company.

Our experience with Deck Masters was excellent from start to finish. Mike Fresch was very professional in his sales presentation. We got a second quote from another company, which was $5,000 higher than Deck Masters, with far inferior quality. The work was started when we were told it would be. It was finished in two weeks. All the workers were friendly and polite. They cleaned up after themselves and did not leave a mess. They do beautiful work and we are extremely pleased with our new screened in deck.

I called for an estimate when I was getting quotes for my deck replacement job. I was able to get an appointment within a few days. Mike came out to the house, looked at the old deck, and spent an hour or so showing me the options they have available and discussing what I wanted. He generated an estimate for me before he left. I ended up deciding to go with another company that had a slightly lower price and different options in plastic lumber, but I had a very favorable impression of Deck Masters.

John and his crew were always punctual, polite, and finished the project in the time promised.

I was extremely pleased with the work done by Deck Masters. They were very easy to work with. They were very fast. They sent in a crew of about 5 or 6 and they were like beavers. It was fast and it was good. The quality of the work is great. Their price is reasonable.

Our existing deck had sagging boards and drainage issues. We chose Deck Masters because of the multiple positive reviews on Angie's List and also because Mike Fresch, their VP of Sales & Marketing, appeared eminently reliable and understanding of our design considerations. They began tearing out the old deck at the end of December, with snow on the ground, and finished in the first week in January. The whole crew was considerate of our property and easy to talk to and work with. We are very pleased with the finished deck. Some months later we had an issue with some popping nails and an access door under the deck which broke. Both problems were resolved quickly and completely without issue or hesitation. We are certainly pleased with the excellent quality of workmanship of the finished deck. And, we are equally pleased with the prompt and attentive customer service from the owner, John Stark, to the workmen who supervised and constructed the deck. The high level of personal service we received from everyone at Deck Masters was both reassuring and much appreciated.

I would not consider doing business with anyone else but Deck Masters at this point. They are very professional, and their work is excellent. They do a wide variety of things, and we've had them do pavers, walls, decks, and even a barn. The pricing is very competitive, and the owner, John, was personally involved almost the entire way. If there was any kind of issue or question, it was handled promptly and satisfactorily.

He was great. He did everything. He took care of the contact and timber deck. Not only the material but the labor was covered under warranty. He got it all done without costing us anything, so he was just great. I thought he was very prompt and thorough. He was also very good at follow-up. He was very customer oriented. He was very much concerned about us not having to have any expenses related to this. He was available to talk to and keep us in the loop with what was going on.

They completed the work quickly, and their craftsmanship was excellent. Furthermore, we appreciated that they adjusted the porch when it was determined that the porch wasn't level with its supporting posts. They took this issue in stride, and we couldn't be happier with the new porch.

Mike was very prompt and gave us his ideas. He completed a diagram and detailed quote. We liked hm and another contractor. Due to price we decided to go with the other contractor.

In early May, I called 3 companies, all highly rated by Angie's List, to come to my home and discuss tearing down a small stoop and building a larger one, more secure. All 3 companies came out to give me an estimate. After seeing the scope of work, 2 of the companies told me the job was too small for them and made me feel like it wasn't worth their time. Deck Masters was the 3rd company. Mike Fresch was very polite, and came out within a few days to look at the scope of work. After seeing the existing stoop that i wanted removed, and discussing the size of the new deck/porch that i wanted, he immediately drew up a diagram and wrote up a quote. He never once mentioned that this job might be too small. A few days after Mike left, I changed my mind about the initial design and contacted him to discuss changing the plans. He responded with an updated quote within 24 hours. The new quote was a little more than I wanted to pay, so I decided to stay with the original design/quote. I signed a contract on June 5. Knowing that they were booking fast, my contract noted a "by Oct 12" completion date. This was okay with me as I could enjoy my summer flowers and not have to move them to make room for the expanded porch/deck until the end of the summer. In late August, John Stark called me and said that since mine was only a 1-day job, he had time on Friday 8/24 to come and build my new porch/deck. I was thrilled that they could come early. They tore out the old stoop, and had 90% of the new porch/deck done by the end of the day. They ran out of supplies and had to come back on Monday 8/27 to finish. They dug 4 footers, used treated wood for the structure and stringers, and used Trex Accent (at my request) to match my front porch deck. Their work is beautiful. Every cut of the 5-sided deck is perfect. They had to cut around the downspout on 1 side and their work is perfect. I'm thrilled with my new porch/deck and can't wait for next summer to add planters and lots of flowers.

Deck Masters was quick and efficient, not to mention extremely tidy in cleaning up each day over the three day installation period. There were a few items that needed attention at the end and they were prompt to return to handle those issues.

He was very nice , helpful and had an estimate within minutes.

An email requesting a quote was sent 6/5/12 and I received an email reply on 6/5/12 stating my job was too small to take on due this being the busy season. Mike he did provide referral information for another handyman who could possibly do the job. Overall I was satisfied with a prompt response.

We were very happy with the finished product and Mike was pleasing to work with. I would definitely recommend them.

Called and made an appointment with Mike Fresch. The first thing that impressed me was the fact that they were willing to talk to us on our schedule. Some of the other companies we spoke with wouldn't come out in the evening which meant that we had to be home early to accommodate their schedule. We spoke with Mike, asked a lot of questions and answered many for him after which he began to draw up our first idea for the deck. I say first idea because I believe we changed things about 3 times and all of which Mike came out to redraw our plans. He said he wanted to make sure we were going to be pleased with the end result. We were told that they probably wouldn't be able to start on the deck until the end of June at that time which was fine with us. We were very surprised and happy that they were able to start on the deck a month early. Their carpenter (I believe his name was Matt) was the nicest guy. Very meticulous and caring. You knew just from talking to him that he really enjoyed his job. I can't tell you how happy we are with the Deck! It is so beautiful and really a remarkable addition to our home. We have already had people stop by and ask us who built our deck. I would recommend Deck Masters to anyone. Of all the projects we have ever done I truly believe this has been one of the best experiences we have had. We feel that Deck Masters is truly a unique company to work with. Each employee works there because they love what they are doing and not just because they have to work.

Mike was very punctual, friendly and helpful with the design of the new product and the creation of the estimate. After we committed to doing the work John took over. He was also very punctual, friendly and helpful. The job was done quickly and professionally. Materials used were has quoted. Over all a job very well done. My only reservation with the entire job was that I felt they were a bit pricey for what we received.

They appeared on a Friday, and in one day they tore down and removed the old, withered deck, and started setting the new posts. Through Monday to Wednesday/Thursday, they worked pretty much non-stop, removing debris, and tidying up every day. A larger, sturdy, solid new deck was built, with "a weather-guard" in-between. It is absolutely gorgeous! We now have a beautiful, secure deck; additionally, we now do not get wet under the deck, and it protects this area much better from the sun heat.It was obvious their work was extremely professional, with a perfectionism which is unusual these days. They were hard working, polite, and considerate. And the price was very reasonable!Couldn't ask for more!

Deck Masters told us when they would start, when they would finish and they did an excellent job, in fact, our neighbors used them last month to add a deck to their home, based upon our work.

Our first step was to check Angie's list to search for candidates for the job. We narrowed the field down to three, and from these selected Deck Masters. We contacted Deck Masters, Mike Fresch, who came to our house to discuss the job in detail. This was followed by a meeting with MIke at the lumber yard to view the options available to us. Using input from Mike we decided on using TimberTech, as we wanted low maintenance. The project started on time and was going well when a problem occurred. The issue was a quality concern with a supplier to Deck Masters, not TimberTech. Any company will have issues pop up from time to time. The most important take away from an issue like this is how the contractor, in this case Deck Masters, handles the situation. If handled correctly it can actually be a plus for the contractor. In this case, although some time was lost on the project, Deck Masters did an excellent job addressing the issue with their supplier and then in implementing the proper corrective action. John Stark, Deck Masters owner, even came to the job site to see the issue first hand. The deck is beautiful, actually exceeding our expectations. One of the key players in the build and in the recovery from the quality issue was their crew leader, Greg. We would definitely recommend Deck Masters to anyone building a deck.

Mike came over and we told him what we wanted(a screened in porch built onto our existing deck). He was very knowledgeable, professional, and honest. He drew up our plans and after we agreed to a price that we thought was reasonable, they went right to work. The builders were punctual, respectable, and above all else did impeccable work. They finished the work in a very timely fashion. We were extremely happy with the end product. We believe it is one of the best aspects of our house now and we get alot of great compliments for it. We love going out on it to just relax or eat our meals. We highly recommend Deck Masters!!!

Again we were very pleased with his knowledge of the various materials, the construction process, his listening skills and professionalism. We had every intention of contracting with Deck Masters for our new deck but found out about a month later that we needed a new roof on our home. We had to replace our roof first and could not afford to do the deck at the same time. We will definitely call Deck Masters when we are ready to replace the deck next spring.

Mike Fresch came out to give me an estimate a few days after my call. He was very patience & took the time to explain the differences in the wood types to use. This was important to me since my ex-husband & I had replaced the top boards over the original foundation about 20 years ago. He was very personable & professional. I am not using this company because a family member who is in construction will be doing the job. Bottom line, it comes down to money. I would definitely use this company if the needs arises.

They were polite, cooperative, efficient. They stuck to their build date & were in and out within 3-4 days. The deck is very nice. The experience exceeded my expectations. They are some of the most pleasant contractors I've worked with! The gave the estimate, & drew a plan & made sure we got the deck we asked for. They were very well organized, had everything they needed every day, & cleaned up after themselves. They met all our expectations.

Very professional. They jacked up the roof of my porch (since it was newly roofed) and tore out everything underneath since it was rotted. They concreted new posts, built a new floor, new railing around, and new steps and rails. Their attention to detail is outstanding. I have had numerous people knocking on my door to find out who did my porch because they haven't seen anything like it. I have definitely recommended Deck Masters to them.
