Smileys Painting and Home Repair

Greg and Jerry did an outstanding job. They did the prep work and didn't short cut what needed to be done. All the window and doors were caulked. The rotten window sills were cleaned out, treated with insecticide and Bondo used to rebuild the sill and prevent any further water penetration. We found the the spare windows that were left were not two matching pairs with hardware as expected, instead there were three left panel and one center panel with no hardware. They were able to adapt the available panels and hardware to replace the windows and stay with the original cost estimate. The staining work was done very professionally. They took extra care to apply the stain, and were very careful to work around the landscaping. Cleanup was great, they even removed paint spatter from previous times.

Great, professional job. Even taught my dog some manners.

All I can say is they were in and out with no effort needed on my part. Came back a second time to do a second cost where needed at no extra charge.

I contacted them via their website and initially did not get a response, I contacted them through the Angieslist e-mail function got a response the next day. Greg came out the day after to give us an estimate and a very detailed description of what needed to be done. When I talked to him, he said that the web site probably had a problem and he never got my request and after sending him an e-mail through angieslist, he responded promptly. Services will be performed when weather permits and based on the phone call with Greg and what I saw in the estimate, I am confident that it will he will be delivering a great job. Darn, I screwed this review up earlier and would like to say sorry about that... I had left a negative "B" rating because I mixed up two vendors (with a very similar name to my excuse). He called me and as a business owner who is proud of his work, rightfully complained.

Great! They arrived on time and got right to work. Really pleasant and helpful, easy to work with. I didn't know if they could do the entire job for the 2 big deals that I purchased, but hoped that at least the family room could be completed. In addition to a few patched areas, they did 2 coats of paint in both the family room and kitchen. It cost a little more, but I'm really grateful that they completed both rooms. They really pushed to finish both rooms. I look forward to working with them in the future.

Was very nice when he came out. Came out and measured rooms for paint and looked at some other work, he told me he would have me an estimate in the mail to me in a couple of day's. That's been almost a month now. Not too impressed!

Greg confirmed the night before and said he might be late the next morning due to weather. Appreciate this. Greg and Jerry did a great job completing all the tasks. I had originally bought 4 hours and they continued working until tasks finished (I paid for more time at a very fair rate). Excellent drywall and painting. They brought their own supplies and they were included. They know their stuff! I would definitely use them again!

Bottom line - Greg did everything he said he would do, plus a little bit more. We're happy with the end result and would use Smiley's again. The cost of the job did not change from the estimate. The estimate was to finish in 8 days, and they finished in 7 days. Before they started, the paint to be used went on sale. Greg called to let us know, told us what to buy, and we saved $100. The job was to paint the wood exterior of our 3 bedroom ranch house, which has some vaulted ceilings and 3 types of exterior: brick, vinyl, and wood. It included a wood sunroom. Two coats of paint would be applied. It included some minor wood trim repair, caulking, and prep work. In summary, they power washed the exterior, did the repair/prep work, applied the first coat of paint, then applied the second and final coat of paint. The gutters did not need paint, but needed to be cleaned, which Greg did by hand. In addition, Greg stained a small wooden landscape bridge in our yard. To save a few dollars on the stain, he suggested using some excess stain he had from a prior job. He did a nice job of matching the excess stain color to the bridge.

They were late by an hour or little more. They repaired the ceiling crack nicely and painting was good. However,the sanding that was required on the ceiling was done without an effort to contain the dust. a powerful fan was used to blow the sanding dust out of the kitchen.I had a lot of cleaning to do in regards to that as well as sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor and adjoining floors. One of the men told me that he was unable to caulk the counter top because it was not secured well enough. They are also "handymen" as well as painters and I was puzzled as to why they did not offer(for a fee) to secure it so it COULD be caulked and look much nicer. But maybe I am being a bit unfair here,with that thought,so do with it what you will.

They arrived on time and performed quality work. They were very conscientous about minimizing the dust.

They did a great job. Will use again.

It could not have gone better. He arrived when he said he would, worked diligently while he was here, did very professional work, and finished when he said he would.

When I saw the Angie's Deal with Smiley's Painting, I grabbed it. Having worked with Smiley's before, I knew I was getting a good deal. Neighbors and friends contracted with him afterwards. For this deal, the communication was good; arrival prompt; work completed in allotted time. He quoted 3 more rooms for me. I just need to schedule his time.

Greg and his helper came a rainy Friday afternoon. They called to say they were about 15 minutes behind schedule and arrived when they would. He installed the drapery rod exactly where I wanted and used anchors to make sure it stayed. Checked that everything was as it should be and cleaned up. Very professional and I will use them again.

Greg & Jerry did an awesome job. I appreciate their attention to detail. Will definitely use them again for any painting projects. Very reasonable from a cost standpoint.

Took a little while to get the job done due to the fact that business is booming and scheduling was a little farther out then I would have liked but the performance of the work and result was worth it

They did a great job from start to finish. The repair work, priming and painting are simply gorgeous. I plan to hire them again in a few weeks to paint doors and trim. I highly recommend Smiley's Painting!

They arrived on time and worked until finished - a total of ten hours - six hours over my Angie's List coupon - but well worth every penny.

Not much to tell, yet all of it good. A couple of hours after I had purchased the Angie's List "Big Deal" for Smiley's Painting, Greg Jungkunz reached out to me by e-mail. I described what we needed to be done, that we had a large, irregularly-shaped hole in our dining room drywall that had been dug out our Bloodhound. Greg immediately said, "Sure, not a problem." I asked if he could help wall mount several brackets used to hold up window blind. Again, "Sure, not a problem." Greg had a busy schedule lined up, so we settled on day/time a couple of weeks out. Greg and another gentleman (sorry, can't recall his name) arrived on time and went right to work. They cut out a section around the hole, inserted two by fours to reinforce the area, inserted new drywall and then mudded-in the area. The repair looks great, and after we paint the wall you'll never know the hole had been there. Once the hole was gone they quickly mounted the brackets. The entire job went quickly, cleanly and just as we had asked. Both men were great. Friendly, personable. Answered questions. I asked them to take a look at a couple of other pending house projects and they provided recommendations. I am very satisfied with Greg's work and will be contracting him for future projects.

I contacted Greg of which he very profresshional set up a time and date to complete the job. It was that simple. Everything he said he would do was done efficiently and with care. They even made sure the room was spotless when they were finished with the job.

I bought the Big Deal from Angie's List on October 14, 2012. According to the information I read, Smiley's was to contact me via email. That didn't happen. Three days later a representative for Angie's List contacted me to check on how it was going. She said she would reach out to Smiley's on my behalf. I contacted Angie's List again on October 29 because I still hadn't heard from the company. The Help Desk representative said she would contact Smiley's personally. I got a phone call from Greg, the owner of Smiley's later that day. He told me I was the one who should have contacted him to make arrangements instead of him contacting me. He told me he was on vacation in Florida and to call him after he returned. I felt very stupid after our conversation thinking I had been confused about how the Big Deal works. After checking my original email from the purchase, I then was irritated because he didn't know the procedure and had talked to me so rudely. I called after Greg returned from vacation and was told he would squeeze me in after replacement windows were installed in the room that was to be painted I got a random call from Greg on November 26 in the evening; he didn't know who had called him earlier in the day and thought it was me. I suggested waiting until after the holidays since he shared he was so busy at the moment.

Greg and Jerry arrived as promised, what was interesting and I did not know was, my family had used his services in the past and he remembered painting for my parents, it was a great conversation. I thought the removal of the wall paper would only take an hour but it was the second most time consuming job Jerry returned the next day to smooth out the drywall work and will be returning monday to fine tune the work which looks awesome. They were both informing me of the work at every turn. I trusted them thoroughly since they are the professionals. The first time consuming job which I thought would not take much time was the placement of a decal from dali decals a decorative accent piece. Jerry worked on that piece for almost three hours! He made sure every aspect of the design was lined up perfectly and it was, it is beautiful!.

It went very well and I will use them again........
