We are unsure as to why this customer rated us so badly. The customer scheduled an estimate on 7/13/15. His estimate was emailed to him on 7/15/15. We made a followup call on 7/16 to make sure he had received the estimate. He then told the office manager that he had several questions for the owner but he did not want to tell her the questions as he did not want to have to repeat them ! The owner called him on 7/17 and had to leave a voicemail message and we never heard back from him so I do not know how this equates to an F rating !

Description of Work: They painted the trim on my house. I did not know that they would be spray painting so I got an electric bill nearly four times the cost of previous month increasing the cost of 12,000.00 originally quoted to do the job. Since they pressure washed using my water my water bill was extremely high also. The total cost of the project turned out to be nearly 15,000.00. They were to do carpentry work which they did not do as they spent time preparing the windows and said that that was carpentry work which cost an additional $700.00. After walking around the house with the owner at the end of the project, I discovered other areas that were not painted. He had his workers correct it. After the project was complete and everyone was gone I continued to find areas that were not painted. I did not call them back. I got someone else to do the work. Already I had to argue to get him to paint the banisters on the entrance to my home even though the contract stated to paint all previously painted areas. The banisters had been previously painted and should have been painted without question. The previous company who painted my home painted the banisters. They asked me to take out the screens. They did not paint the screens despite the fact that they had been previously painted. I would have left them in if I had thought that they were going to paint the window and not the screens. The screens go on the outside of the window and can be seen, not the window. I would have preferred that they painted these custom wood screens. I had to get someone else to do that. They offered to do it for an additional charge. The previous company painted the screens as they were an obvious part of the building. They seemed to have an aversion to moving anything. They painted around it. ie., there was a column that was only painted to the top of some removable bricks that were at the bottom of the column. I was removing a brick and noticed this and had them to completely paint the column down to the ground. The workers often sat in my chairs with their dirty work cloths and ate lunch at my table without permission. One time I pointed out to them to pick up the condiments that they left on the ground from the day before. When they worked I always noticed that the water hose that I used to water my flowers was disconnected and not reconnected. I didn't understand what they were needing the water for. The pressure washing was done at the beginning of the job. I used this company for its stellar reviews. The price was very high. I passed over a company that was going to charge me $3,000 for labor plus costs of materials. I chose Master Touch because everything that I saw was professional; their web site, folder, videos of previous work done, testimonials and the owner seemed nice. I wanted to have a stress free job and was willing to pay for it. Unfortunately that is not what I got. He never sent me a survey to write a review the work yet I read somewhere that they would do this. I had decided to just forget about it and pray a lot before I get anyone to do any work for me in the future. I was surprised to get this request for a review. I wish that I had had the experience that all of the other customers allegedly got that I read about. There are other things that I could write but I have said enough.

We would like to reply to this customers review and address the comments which have been made. The customer states that her electricity bill was 4 times the cost of the previous bills amount and says it was because of our sprayer. The power required by a sprayer is the same as using a radio and the power is only used when you have your hand on the trigger which would in no way account for such an increase. In relation to the pressure washing I do not know of any painting company that brings their own water to do pressure washing and again the usage would not be a huge amount. We have been painting houses and pressure washing as part of the preparation work since 1993 and nobody has ever complained about their water bill - not once! The additional cost was for re-glazing the windows. The house is over 100 years old and all the window glazing was gone, we discovered this during the preparation work and brought it to the homeowner’s attention and got her approval before we did the additional work. This was to allow proper adhesion of the new paint and also to prevent heat loss in the home. We did a final inspection with the customer and took care of some touchups straight away – the painters are only human and there may be misses due to things like stopping to get more paint or even the way the sun is shining. We give a five year warranty on our work and if the customer had called us back to let us know that she found some misses – we would have taken care of them without problem – if she did not notice them during our final inspection then you can see why a painter could have missed them also. Our estimate stated “Previously painted areas” and then listed all of the areas that were included. The banisters were not included as an oversight by our estimator however the customer never brought it to our attention before she signed the contract and we did paint them at no charge. The screens were also not included as usually the screens are metal or vinyl and so they do not get painted. As this is an older home they are wooden screens and as the customer decided to change colors they then needed to be painted. The column was painted where it was visible – we cannot be responsible for removing bricks that should be moveable. Our painters work hard and yes they did sit at the outdoor table to have lunch – I apologize if this was upsetting usually it is not an issue with the homeowner, and yes they are painters so they do not wear clean suits to work but there was no damage whatsoever to the furniture that was well used and very old. In relation to the house – yes the pressure washing was done at the beginning of the job however paint brushes and rollers need to be cleaned on a regular basis throughout a job and for that you need water, this is the case on every job and again has never been an issue with a homeowner. As you can imagine all the “Issues” mentioned in this review came as a surprise to us, when we did the final inspection the customer was happy and paid the final balance without issue. We are disappointed that the customer feels they have had such a negative experience with us and we feel these comments were not justified.

The customer neglected to mention the following : His job was scheduled for the week of July 4th however he did not provide his colors until July 16th so it is difficult to schedule a job when you cannot purchase the paint! Obviously that would cause a delay in addition we had already informed him that we were running a bit behind due to all the rain we had had. Our guys were only on the jobsite about 20 minutes when the customer called to tell me that they did not know what they were doing and that they had damaged his property. My next stop of the day was to this customer as I needed to show him the colors that we had matched for him so when he called me I told him I was with another customer but that we could talk about everything when I got there. He was very rude and told me that he wanted to speak to my manager and someone who could speak English (I am the owner of the company and a US Citizen). My guys had gone ahead and were only getting ready to start preparation work . He was very aggressive with the painters who paint about 200 houses a year and know exactly what to do - I do not have to hold their hands to do sanding and caulking. When I got there the so called damage to the landscape was a couple of stems that was broken off a plant that was in a planter and that should have been moved by the customer and the gate was not damaged the painters had to remove the pin to allow the gate to open all the way so they could work and get ladders in and out as there was only about 4 feet of space that they could work in between the customers house and the neighbors house. From the minute the guys arrived the customer had a bad attitude towards them and after he pushed a ladder at one of them I pulled them off the job. They did not deserve to be treated in that manner and the customer was telling them they did not know what they were doing before they had even lifted a brush. We have been in business since 1993 and paint about 200 homes a year and we have never been treated like that on a job site. The customer signed a contract which clearly states " If work has begun (Color Consultation, pressure washing or painting) the full deposit will be forfeited". However as a gesture of good faith I offered to return the customer's deposit minus the costs we had incurred up to that point plus $10 to replace the "damaged" plant but he did not accept.

As said before, great work.
Description of Work: We decided to use Master Touch Painting for the exterior painting of our home having used them on several interior painting projects previously. They gave us a very detailed written estimate with a competitive price. They worked with our schedule and there were no delays. The owner was on the job site a couple of times every day and was extremely helpful in selecting the colors. The painters were very careful and tidied everything away at the end of each day. I have no hesitation in recommending Master Touch Painting and actually I am writing this review because I am about to use them for another interior project.

I had a wonderful experience with Master Touch Painting. Everything from the original estimate through to the final inspection was 100%. They performed a lot of work. A number of rooms needed wallpaper removal and drywall repairs and when the painters were finished the walls were flawless. The owner was very helpful with helping me to choose the colors and very patient when I was having trouble deciding. The painters were very courteous and professional and very hardworking a pleasure to have in my home. I am delighted with the results and I cannot say enough good things about this company. I will definitely have them back to work on the exterior next year.

The company is very professional. The owner (Freiher Vargas) is on the job site every day and is reachable for any questions and concerns. Very helpful in deciding on the color choices. At first he did the exterior. It went well and based on this experience we had him do the interior. It was kind of a mess. The quality was poor, the communication was poor, and he had to be monitored. He stated he would paint behind the cabinets, but he didn't. He denied things that were intially agreed upon in the contract. He did not cover anything. I spent weeks cleaning paint out of the sinks and floors. They did not clean the dust up after sanding the walls. They broke the mirror in my bathroom and blamed it on my cat. They should have kept the door closed and this would not have been a problem. They asked me to keep the cats in a certain area and they would then open the doors and let the cats out. This is where communication really fell short. On some level I think he wanted to be responsive, but he had many limitations as too what he would do. He was not very clear as to what he would do and wouldn't do per the contract. I don't think he could accomplish the quality we were looking for. He stated he would come back to fix things, but my husband doesn't want to have him back.

We have just seen this report and it has totally taken us by surprise and I would like to address each point separately 1) Everything was agreed in writing and all work was completed as per the contract. 2) The only way to paint behind cabinets is to remove the cabinets and put back – this was never agreed to and is not the norm. I personally did a final walk through with your husband where he pointed out some minor touchups. We fixed those – did another final inspection and your husband was happy – so much so that in addition to making the final payment he gave each member of the crew a $100 tip. 3) Everything was covered with plastic and drop clothes as we do in all our jobs and If there were any paint spots left behind on anything this should have been brought to our attention during the final inspection and we would have cleaned it for you. We clean up after sanding as it is not possible to paint without doing so, I would also like to point out that there was a lot of dust and dirt around after your husband completed the drywall repairs that he worked on himself in addition to the dust dirt and cat hair that was around the house before we even got there which we had to clean in order to paint which was not charged to you and is not normally required. 4) In relation to the mirror, the mirror did get damaged and this was fixed with no cost to you. The mirror got chipped in one corner because our painters were moving the mirror and were trying to avoid standing on a cat that had difficulty walking and in trying to avoid the cat the mirror was damaged. We asked many times for the cats to be kept in a separate place, which was your office but every time you went out the cats got out as you said you didn’t want to put them in the basement because they didn’t like to be alone. 5) A couple of weeks after the job was completed I received a call from your husband to say that he would like some touchups, I agreed to come back out and he said he would call me back when he returned from vacation and he never called back. 6) In our 16 years of business we have never received feedback like this and we paint 150 + homes every year with the similar contracts and the same workmanship as was completed in your home and we have a book full of very positive references. We are a successful company with more than 75% of business coming from repeat customers because of our professionalism and workmanship. We are disappointed to hear that you were not happy with your job which to be honest I think comes from the fact that you wanted us to complete items that were not in the contract and I refused because we had already spent a lot of additional time on helping you choose colors & cleaning up. I think you had false expectations in that you expected to include items that were not detailed in the contract. For any other potential customers reading this report we can share hundreds of positive references with you that we have from many satisfied customers

QUOTED FOR A SINGLE COAT, AND DID NOT EXPRESS HIS BELIEF THAT A 2ND COAT WOULD BE REQUIRED UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE THE JOB BEGAN, ADDING 50% TO THE COST. HIS CREW WAS PROFESSIONAL AND RESPECTFUL OF OUR HOME AND LANDSCAPING.
