Purchased The Big Deal for $45 to come and diagnose the problem with a TV that shut down and would not come back on. Mark Mason from Mason TV Service quickly determined what component was bad and ordered a new part. He came back three days later and installed the new component. The TV is now working fine. Mark also gave good tips to get a better high definition picture so the TV works better than ever.

He took back off and checked out TV. Based on cost of repair and phasing out of plasma TVs, he recommended I buy a new Tv instead of paying him to repair. Mark came to our house to diagnose and repair our newer model Sharp 60" LED TV. The condition was not one he had seen before and initially was not detectable. He had to return a second timeHe continued to research problem and define the true root cause of the condition., but left a loaner while he was researching the problem. Mark researched the problem, and diagonsed the set within 10 minutes upon return. He provided excellent coaching on how to deal with Sharp to file and complete a warranty claim, and followed through via phone unitl the unit was corrected. I HIGHLY recommend Mark Mason to work on your electrical entertainment equipment.

Fantastic, now I don't have to buy a new tv and the picture is good again. My husband's biggest fear was that we would have to go shopping and he hates to shop. I had no idea what a tv repairman charges, or who to call, but when I saw the price on Angie's List, I had to go for it and by doing so saved us hundreds of dollars. Very happy:)
Description of Work: Had a problem with the picture on my older big screen tv and really thought he was going to tell me that it wasn't worth fixing and that I would have to buy a new tv. He took the back off the tv, checked out the inside of the tv, tweaked the settings and the picture was back to good as new.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and it was fine. The TV guy did a great job and knew exactly what to replace. It avoided me having to buy a new TV. He was quick, efficient knew exactly what to do and was in and out in under 15 minutes. Everything that he said on the phone was what actually happened at the time of service.

When Mark received the part, he found that something was loose on it and tightened it up and went ahead a tried it, as we were anxious to get are TV working. The TV worked and was turned off for the night, but when we went to turn it on it would not work. We called Mark and he came back right away, and found he needed to return the faulty part. He reordered the part and in a about three days he brought the TV back working like a charm. Mark was extremely considerate, he went to extra lengths to get our TV working as soon as possible. He even returned our money until he brought the TV back totally repaired. Mark was very polite and works very well with people. We would highly recommend him.

Mark was very responsive and quickly repaired the TV. Everything went well and he covers his work with a one year warranty. I would use him again and recommend him to a friend of mine who has the same TV when he has the same problem! Thanks Mark, I enjoyed our conversation about changes in TV's over the last 20 years.
Description of Work: We have a 10 year old 53" projection TV that just stopped working, we never had an issue with the TV. Mark came right out and quickly found the problem. Explained what the issue is and how to fix it and what the cost to repair would be. It was cheaper than buying a new 50-55" flat screen so it made sense to repair it. Mark repaired the circuit board and was back the next day to install it as well as doing some preventative work to avoid future issues with some other parts of the TV.

Mark diagnosed the problem quickly, showed me burned out lamp and inoperable switch and gave a quote within 15 minutes. He had TV repaired in 45 minutes from the time he arrived at my home. TV picture is beautiful! He is professional and educated me regarding the reasons that these issues occurred and the internal workings of the particular TV. Also, how to make the lamp last longer.

We were having a home theater problem with the receiver going off during parts of the movie and we called this company based on their Angies List reviews. On the phone one of the workers was very helpful and quite detailed, in fact so much so that he was almost trying to fix my problem directly which was nice. However, not being the most technically inclined I asked for him to come out and trouble shoot the speaker/receiver issue. We agreed on a time and service charge. He was to call the next afternoon to confirm an exact time. When he never called we called the company and he apparently had been dispatched to a sports bar that was having a melt down and had a priority contract and we were told he would call us to reschedule the next day. It has been a week and no call back now despite our call and assurance we would be contacted. Although his initial phone discussion made him sound knowledgeable and trying to offer some free advice on the phone was also helpful not showing up nor calling back makes him a little to unreliable for us to consider using and needless to say our problem remains and now we will try another provider.

Called Mark & he called back within an hour and set an appointment. He was familiar with my tv set & had seen similar problems with other models. I told him I had visually checked the fuses & didn't find any of them blown. Based on my description of the problem, he told me to expect a repair between $200 - $350, depending on where the problem was located. These prices jived with the research I did online. He showed up, on time, and began troubleshooting. Within 10 minutes, he had identified the problem as a blown fuse (he did a continuity check) & replaced the fuse, which got the tv working again. He could have easily told me the problem was one of the higher priced problems & charged me more, but he only charged for a trip visit and cost of the fuse. Mark exhibited a high level of integrity and honesty and I won't hesitate to use him in the future!

Overall, it was good. Very responsive on timing and said he'd guarantee the work. The cost was a bit high. $60 service charge and an extra $60+ to reset a switch and vacuum the set. It works, which is great, but $130 for 30 minutes seems like a lot.
Description of Work: My DLP TV kept shutting off. Mark came in and said he'd done some research based on my initial call. He reset / refit a switch that was probably causing the issue and cleaned the back of the set. He gave some good tips on overall care of the TV, which was good.

Mark came to the home to evaluate the problems with a 42" tv. Within short period of time he identified the problem and told what the cost would be to make the repairs. Within a couple hours, the new board was installed and the cost was just as he had estimated.

Component Level Repair (CLR) was the 2nd company I called from your list regarding TV repair, primarily because of its proximity to my home. I explained the problem to the CLR repairman who suggested I bring the TV to him. However, he suggested I first disconnect the cable box and connect the cable directly to the TV. I could then confirm the problem was in the TV and not the cable box. He hit the nail on the head. The TV worked fine; the problem was in the cable box. I exchanged the box at the cable company for which there was not cost. I was very appreciative of CLR's expertise and professionalism. Their priority was correcting my TV problem rather than sending me a bill.
Description of Work: I called Component Level Repair regarding a problem with my TV. The repairman understood and advised me to bring the TV in. However, he suggested I try a "test" which would determine if the problem was n my TV or elsewhere. His suggestion saved me the time and cost of taking the TV in to their shop to determine what I was able to do to at home.

Mark Mason, company now known as Mason TV Service, was the only one willing to come out and check our antenna after we installed a digital converter box that wasn't working. Everyone told us it must be antenna problem but that our antenna was too high and they wouldn't climb up to fix it. Mark tested the TV and converter box and realized that the box was defective. He installed another box which worked perfectly. I returned the original box to Radio Shack which is supposed to replace it when they get new ones in. Mark returned to check the original one. He was professional and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Mark Mason checked the antenna and digital converter and discovered that the converter we bought was defective. He sold us one, installed it and explained what went wrong. He was professional and very capable. He is an expert in understanding what those of us who do not have cable or satellite need and what the problems might be.

I was very pleased with his knowledge and workmanship. I was afraid it would be difficult since the set is so old, but he had no problem with it. It was cheap compared to a new TV.
Description of Work: Vertical refresh was going on our 36" 14 y.o. TV. Mark came out and fixed it very quickly. Didn't have to replace many parts, but knew exactly what the problem was. He gave me an estimate after diagnosing it. After I said to go ahead, it took little time before he was done.
