+ -1 moreWe received an estimate to have some repairs done to our home prior to our closing date. The estimate for the repairs was give at ~$2500 and included some minor plumbing fixes, repair to wood rot on an exterior door, and to replace the wooden siding above our garage with cement board. Due to timing, we re-negotiated and closed on the house prior to the repairs being done. I reached out to Tim Ryan on at least 4 separate occasions to schedule the repairs. The first time he said he was on a job and would call back early the following week. He did not call and I reached out on my own. He didn't have his calendar with him and promised to call back that night. He did not call back. I called the following week, and he said he was in a basement with bad reception and would call me back in 15 minutes. He did not call back. I called him the next day and said I was disappointed to never receive a call back, and I asked him if he wanted my business or if I should look elsewhere? He said that he did want the business, but that his sub-contractor to do the exterior repairs was going to California for three weeks and would that be okay to schedule once he got back? I said that would be okay as long as we could schedule a date and he could stick to it. He said he would call me back the next day but he didn't. I have not bothered to call him back again as I feel this is an indication of the response time I would get once the work was scheduled.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate only, but completely failed to return 4 separate phone calls asking to schedule the services.

+ 0 moreTim happened to be near our house when I called him. Within 10 minutes of the call Tim arrived at my house, inspected the water heater and made one small adjustment and was done. He was prompt, courteous and honest. We would use him again if we encounter any problems in the future.

+ 0 moreWe scheduled the appointment for Thursday, 10/25 at 1 PM. There were several small items to tend to including the main bathroom toilet running, clearing drains in the master and main bedrooms and very low water pressure in the hot water faucet in our downstairs bathroom. When he missed the appointment, I called to re-schedule and he explained that he was currently over committed. I informed him that there was no urgency and we could re-schedule when he had an opportunity. I have not been able to get in touch with him since. I've left several voice mail asking to re-schedule and he has not returned one call.

+ 1 moreTim Ryan was referred to me by my grandmother when I bought my first home. She had purchased a new washer/dryer combo for me but the position of the water softener prevented me from opening my new front load washer all the way. I called Tim to see if he could take a look and provide an estimate. He came the very next day and came prepared to also DO the job if I agreed and not just provide an estimate. He arrived on time and provided my estimate and did the job efficiently. In, out and did a great job of moving my water softener and hooking everything up so I could use my new washer! He even changed my washer water hoses to the upgraded hoses my grandma purchased for me so I didn't run the risk of the cheap plastic standard hoses rupturing (HHGregg techs refused to change the hoses out upon set up of my washer/dryer). I didn't even ask him to do that! He saw them coiled up on top of the washer and simply offered - no charge! Additionally he offered to do a quick walk through of the basement for any other plumbing related questions I may have. He also told me where to purchase a new battery for my battery powered sump pump back up system - he referred me to where he would go to get the best price. He was awesome!
Description of Work: Tim Ryan re-positioned my water softener to a new location in my basement and changed my water hoses on my washer.

+ 0 moreCouldn't have asked for better! We have used a lot of plumbers over the years, and Tim was BY FAR the best! He arrived within 40 minutes of my first panicky phone call when I contacted him after seeing water leaking from my water heater. He was kind and compassionate and concerned about whether there was any damage to my home (there was not) even on that initial phone call. He did not charge me for my estimate and returned the following day to perform the work. The amount he quoted me was the final amount he charged me even though he had to put in more than two hour's of extra time and use additional parts to complete the repair. Tim's professionalism was stellar! He used rugs and put down cardboard to protect all my hardwood floor and carpeting all throughout my first floor into my finished basement. He used "booties" to cover his shoes when he was in my home and cleaned up the area when he was done. He even came back a couple of days later to do some extra routing of the drainage pipe to my drain in the basement at no charge! GREAT experience! I see why Call Tim Ryan has so many incredible reviews on Angie's List!!
Description of Work: Replaced leaky water heater. Added drip pan and ran PVC pipe to drain in basement. Reconfigured brass fittings and replaced thermal expansion tank when he found it was faulty.

+ 0 moreIn my opinion, Mr. Ryan went well above and beyond in helping me out. I say this for several reasons. 1. Before telling him the problem, I asked when he was open for a service call and he indicated that he wouldn't be able to get to me for about 4 days. When I told him my water heater was leaking, he said he would come out that evening to replace it. Neither of the other plumbers I called offered to drop what they were doing to help me out - one of them even wanted me to wait for 2 weeks with a leaking water heater 2. He didn't play any games with me on pricing. When I told him the size and type of water heater, he immediately quoted me a price and stuck to it. I had several other plumbers who were already trying to "upsell me" on all kinds of other things that I would likely "need". His quote was very competitive, and as I said, he stuck to it 3. He communicated regularly with me (via text) his exact timing on when he would arrive 4. He arrived and completed the job in less than 3 hours - being courteous and friendly the whole time 5. When he saw that the gas venting on my original water heater was not not properly sized, he went out and procured the proper size venting and installed it. He could have easily tried to upsell me on this, but performed the service at no additional charge 6. Even though he had other obligations, he patiently showed me how to operate the new unit Mr. Ryan will be my first call in the future for plumbing needs

+ -1 moreSee Above! We do not feel that Mr. Ryan provided a reliable and professional service in his work for us. His error in wiring the replacement control unit delayed getting the unit to work properly for 1 month. It also caused us to replace the heater elements which probably did not need replacement. Overall, our experience was not a good one, and we cannot recommend his service.
Description of Work: Mr. Ryan was called and scheduled to come to our home to work on our water heater which continually shut itself down after water got too hot. Mr. Ryan arrived on time and worked on the unit at once, replacing the main control panel for the water heater. This water heated had a lifetime warranty on parts, and Mr. Ryan helped us contact the warranty department and get everything worked out to get the control unit replaced at no cost for parts. His fee was for his time to do the work to replace the part. In order to get the new part to work, he had to drill an extra hole in the plastic cover for the new control board, which he did. However, the fix failed later in the same day he made the replacement. We were able to get hot water by manually resettingthe control unit once or twice a day. We called Mr. Ryan a few days later to get him to come and try to determine what was wrong. My wife reached him during his lunch hour, and he agreed to come out after his lunch was done. He never came that day. We expected him to contact us the next day to reschedule, but he never called. We called him 2 days later, and he seemed surprised by our call. He agreed to come out early that afternoon. He called us late in the afternoon saying he was on his way and would be at our home after 5PM. We already had plans for the eveneing and could not stay to work with him because of his late arrival. We told him we would have to reschedule, and he said he would call us the next day. HE NEVER CALLED or tried to help us in any way. I contacted the water heater warranty department a week later and they suggested we replace the heating elements and arranged for us to get free element parts. We replaced them a few days later but the problem persisted. 1 month to the day after Mr. Ryan worked on our water heater I contacted the water heater warrenty department and they told us to check the wiring arrangement, as the new control unit required a minor change in the wiring placement. After checking the new control unit Mr. Ryan put in, we found that the wiring sequence was indeed wrong. Addiitonally the hole he drilled in the plastic coved for the new controller was misaligned preventing the reset button from working correctly. After addressing these two items myself , the water heater now works correctly.

+ 0 moreIt went great! I originally contacted Tim Ryan from a special offer through Angie's List to install several faucets in a town house I was remodeling as a retirement residence. However, since the property had been vacant for more than a year, a lot more plumbing work was needed than originally planned. Tim did a great job doing what I initially asked, but when it became clear a lot more work was needed, I had no hesitation asking him to do the rest of the work which took place over 3 to 4 weeks because of my schedule. He even hauled the old water tank and dishwasher away! He was reasonably priced, very flexible in working around my calendar, and very professional. I highly recommend Tim Ryan, both personally and professionally, to anyone needing plumbing help.
Description of Work: Tim Ryan originally installed several new sink faucets in a townhouse I was remodeling as a retirement home. But, soon afterwards, I asked him back to install new shower valves and heads and new toilet tank mechanics. Still later, I asked him to install a new hot water heater and a new dishwasher.

He was very professional and polite - excellent job - work was done and clean up accomplished in timely manner. Price was as quoted. + 0 moreI had no hot water one evening so I went and checked on my hot water heater. The warning lights was stating there was a detecting flammable vapors. There was nothing around the heater so I thought something may have been deflective. I went to Angie's List and found two companies. I could only leave a message for one but not Tim Ryan's. The next morning I called the other company back and they really could not give me a time they would come out. So this is when I called Tim. I got him right away and he tried to get me to troubleshoot the problem myself in order to save me a couple of dollars but it did not work. So he gave me a time around 1400 when he would come over but he said would call me if he could come earlier. He called me around noon and said he could be right over. I thought this was great. He diagnosed the problem then found a supplier and went to go get the part. The diagnosing was not as easy as it appeared but he stayed with it until he fixed the problem. He took a bunch of calls while he was here but I did not mind because he had to fit me into his schedule. I see he tries to help a lot of customers.

+ -1 moreI signed up for an Angie's List Big Deal with Call Tim Ryan Inc. Tim set-up an weekend appointment with me but failed to showed to up as scheduled. We arranged a make-up date. However, Tim was unable to complete all jobs as discussed on the make-up date. He repaired a leaky tub faucet but did not replace sink faucets as discussed. I tried to schedule the faucet install with Tim at later time but he cancelled at least once due to bigger jobs and I was never able to get him scheduled again. Time is a really nice guy and helpful but getting him to get all jobs done in a timely manner was not achieved and therefore the dissatisfaction. If you have a larger job, Tim is probably your guy. If you have a smaller job under $300 - $400, I recommend other plumbers. The shower tub faucet that he replaced is still leak free 6 monthd later but the handle is rather loose I am unsure if he installed 100% correctly.

+ 0 moreI contacted Tim through because I needed someone who could respond quickly and though he wasn't my first choice but I am so glad I went with him! I called Tim up and told him my water heater was leaking, he said he would be right out to take a look in a few hours. He arrived and he explained everything to me in detail about what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He was very fair on price and labor costs per at the time a deal was running on Angie'slist about another company changing my heater for cheaper than what was quoted, so he matched that price. I had to leave for work and when I returned everything was done except for a piece that was cosmetic he said he will comeback to fix the following day. All in all I would recommend him to anyone as I was left with a pleasant taste for the way he does business. I have a few more jobs that I will most definitely call him to do!! GREAT JOB INDEED!!

Tim got stuck by a traffic accident and couldn't make the first appointment, and he was sick the day of the second, but he was very prompt in calling me to let me know his situation. He finally made it the third and completed the work in about a half hour. He says I now need to use the other half hour. Several things have kept me from doing so yet, but I hope to soon. Tim was very professional and friendly, and was quite willing to accommodate my schedule, despite the hiccups with the first 2 appointments.
Description of Work: I purchased the $99 special for 1 hour of plumbing work. Tim diagnosed and fixed a tub leak. Turns out the caulking around the faucet and drain lever was old and letting water get into the wall space.

+ 0 moreMy water heater wasn't heating, and the manual that came with it made it clear that only qualified personnel should attempt to service it, so I looked for a licensed plumber who was an authorized repair person for that manufacturer and who handled emergency calls. I found Tim Ryan. I called Tim Ryan. I called him at 8:30 pm, but he answered and expressed willingness to do the work at whatever time was convenient for me, including after I came home from work in the evening. We settled on 8 am the next day. He was perhaps 15 minutes late, but I didn't mind. Traffic in my area can be bad around that time particularly when school is in session. He immediately apologized for being late, which I appreciated because it acknowledged that my time was valuable, too. He diagnosed the water heater problem quickly: a malfunctioning thermometer. He told me that it was just inside the warranty period, but when I said I wasn't the original purchaser, he said the warranty wouldn't transfer. That was a shame, but I thought the price charged was quite reasonable. He worked quickly, had the parts with him, cleaned up after himself, put everything back as it was, and wore plastic covers on his shoes the whole time. As a first-time home owner and therefore first-time plumbing services customer, I was very pleased with how quickly the problem was resolved, how easy Mr. Ryan was to deal with, and how reasonable the price was.

Description of Work: Bought a big deal and I haven't been able to get him to my house to perform the services. The first time we had an appointment, he was not to my house 45 minutes after the scheduled time, so I called. He said "oh I am so glad you called, I lost your phone number. Is it still convenient to come over and do the work?" At that point it was not, but he came over to take a look at the work that needed to be done. He told me that we would reschedule and that he would send me a website link to a plumbing fixture, which I never got. I followed up with him and he said "oh yeah, sorry, I had the wrong email address....." We have scheduled to have this work done at least 3 times, he has blown me off completely. I am very frustrated, very disappointed and I would like my 99 dollars back.

He said he may be able to come by the next day. He did call and say he could not make it and we set another date and time. However, he did not show up. I called Angies List and asked for a refund which they promptly gave me.

+ -1 moreThis was a tough job dealing with old plumbing and old parts. Tim warned me at the beginning that it might become complicated and it did. He managed to work through the problems the work presented, and stayed with it through several trips until he figured it out. This review is written by Karen Faaborg. Our Angie's List account is in Robert's name.
Description of Work: Tim tackled a couple of plumbing leaks in old water lines in my 87 year-old home and stuck with the job until he figured out how to fix them with as little cost to me and damage to the house as possible. He is very conscientious and customer oriented. He aims to please and he met that aim. I had also hired Tim earlier this year to repair a major leak in the water line running through my yard off of the main. He did an excellent job with that in a very expeditious manner.

+ 0 moreOur heater went out, and Mr. Ryan was there two days later with a new one. He spent an hour texting with me, on his personal time after hours, about the possibilities of what we could get and the various prices. He arrived with the new unit, replaced it, and cleaned up after himself. He was a couple of hours late getting here, but it was due to things beyond his control. To compensate for this, however, he replaced the gas line and exhaust for free, and installed a drain pan and pipe at no additional charge. He was very professional, and kind to my daughters that would not leave him alone. I highly recommend Mr. Ryan.

Description of Work: Tim replaced a kitchen faucet for us, and also rebuilt the workings of two toilets that had been leaking. He assisted us in ordering replacement parts for our leaky tub faucet which were under warranty, and will come back and repair that once the parts are in.
