I am a customer of Total Protect Home Warranty program who had me contact Call Tim Ryan Inc for a busted pipe repair issue. I first contacted Mr. Ryan on 3/14/2016 in which he had me text him my address and stated he would be to check the pipe out. I never heard from him, so I called the Home Warranty program place to inform them of what was going on, they in turn contacted Mr. Ryan while I was on the phone and said he would be contacting me. I still never heard from Mr. Ryan so i re-called the Home Warranty program place again on 4/19/2016 granted now we are into a month since the first contact and I simply stated that I would like to be referred to another provider, and they once again stated we will contact him again. So, on this day 4/19/2016 Mr. Ryan after many avoided text messages from me proceeds to text and tell me he would be right over. When Mr. Ryan arrived at my home he inspected the pipe and told me it look liked it was busted from freezing at some point and that I needed to pay him my $125 deductible and he would return the next day 4/20/2016 to repair the pipe. Well, I never heard from him and finally texted him on 4/22/2016 to ask him if he was going to repair the pipe, but of course no response from Mr. Ryan, so I called Total Protect Home Warranty program and they stated that the repair was not covered under my warranty, so therefore I wanted to know then why did Mr. Ryan take a $125 deductible from me and state he would return the next day to repair it and he even gave me an invoice stating $125 deductible paid? I have tried to contact Mr. Ryan also in this matter and when explained to him it was illegal for him to charge me a deductible and not perform the services he hung up the phone on me. I completely agree with the fact of a service fee maybe, but he did nothing but walk in and tell me how the pipe busted, took my money and left. Mr. Ryan didn't even have the courtesy as good business prudence to call and explain to me himself what happened, or even offer his service and deduct the $125 off. Very bad business!
Description of Work: He came to my home referred to me by Total Protect Home Warranty program and told me why my pipe had busted, had me pay a $125 deductible and said he would be back the next day to repair, I never heard from him again, and when I tried to call him and explain to him what he did was illegal he hung up the phone on me.

Can't keep time. Doesn't return phone calls or text messages. 3 appointments missed. Finally showed up late. Failed to fix the issue and recommended fixes that were not needed in the end...another plumber fixed it in half hour using similar tools without much ado.

When he arrived he removed the front panel of the water heater and checked the leads to the heating element. I was informed that no power was getting to the heater so I went to the circuit breaker. It had not tripped so I turned it off and turned it back on. Tim Ryan told me that there was still no power, and I needed to replace the circuit breaker and that he did not do that type of work. I asked him to check the connection coming into the heater. He said that was not necessary since it was a continuous connection. After he left, I went to Lowe's and purchased a new breaker. I installed it, but the heater did not come on. I then phoned Mr, Ryan again and told him what I had done. Since I did not have a multimeter, he suggested that I wait 30 to 45 minutes to see if the water heated up. After 45 minutes, the water was still cold so I phoned him back. I asked him whether he should come back and check the lead going into the water heater. I was told no because it was a continuous connection. He asked me whether he should come back, but he said that he could not do anything because the heater was fine. He suggested that I call an electrician so I looked up one on Angie's List (Craftsman Electric, Inc). They came out and checked all the connections. There was power everywhere, so the electrician removed the cover on the heater where the wires came in. It was there at the water heater that the short had occurred. The lining of the water heater had corroded. Water had flooded the basin where the power had come into the heater. The electrician then checked to make sure that the power line was still okay. It was. Basically Tim Ryan did not do the job that he was hired to do. I had to pay an electrician about $300 to discover the problem which just happened to be what I asked Mr, Ryan to check and which he assured me was unnecessary. I will be replacing the water heater, but obviously I will not be asking this company to do the job.

Total Failure. Came and did the backflow test on 7/25, cashed my check, but never turned in the test results to Hamilton County. Got a second notice from the county that the results were due. Called him on 8/15, he said he didn't know what happened and would check right on it. Never heard back. Called him on 8/18 at 4:30PM, he said he hadn't turned it in, but would call be in 2-3 hours. Never called back. Called him on 8/19, no answer and left a voice mail. He never called back. This person should NOT be in business!!!

Tim was courteous and professional and strove to do the service as soon as possible given the existing water heater was leaking. He kept me informed when a previous job ran longer. He was dead on the estimate of time to do the work. He is very thorough and evaluated the overall water pressure to the water heater and the overflow valve. He presented the situation to me and provided me the pros/cons of doing work above and beyond "just replacing the water heater". Given a myriad of plumbing repairs the last 2 years I opted to take Tim's suggestions to reduce the pressure in the pipes and minimize future leaks throughout the house. Tim work protective shoe covers and place a mat over the foyer hallway to prevent damage or dirt. After the job one could not tell that a repairman had been there. I am left feeling exceedingly confident in our new water heater and that the multiyear issues with overall pipe leakage may now be solved given the new pressure reduction valve. Thanks Tim!
Description of Work: Replace existing water heater with a new one. Was very thorough. Also addressed incorrect pressure in the pipes. Replace "pressure reduction valve". Tim noted the hot water heater overflow valve was no longer working and was not mounted correctly. This was replaced and then correctly mounted. Excellent job.

My hot water was brown. I called Tim he came by the same day. He explained I would need to replace my hot water heater and why. He also checked to see if it was under warranty, which it was. He told me when he would return and how long it should take. Everything went great. Tim is a pleasure to work with.

I called Tim on Sunday, 3/16/14 and he came out in less than 2 hours to evaluate my leaking water heater. It was over 16 years old and had corroded at the bottom and couldn't be repaired. Tim gave me a fair estimate for a new one and was out the next morning at 8:30 to install it. Everything went smoothly and by 11:30, he was done. Tim is extremely professional and polite. He answered all my questions and made sure I understood the differences between the new one and the old one. He removed all the debris and the old heater. He made sure I understood the warranty and how to contact him if I had any problems or questions. When he presented the invoice to me, it was for less than his original estimate, so that was an unexpected bonus. I would definitely use Tim again and highly recommend him.

OMG, where do I begin. Was referred to Mr. Ryan by HMS Home Warranty. Mr. Ryan showed up the first time that he had made an appointment which was around the beginning of September. He has repeatedly made appointments and hasn't shown up. Occasionally he would text to reschedule but mostly would hear nothing. Well, he finally did manage to show up and repair the leaking faucet and replace the fixtures which I must say was done very professionally. After a few no shows and reschedules he showed up to drywall the ceiling and add a coat of putty. Once again was to return in a couple days. Well so far it's been a couple weeks and he still has not returned. He seems to know what he is doing if and when he ever shows up. Very disappointing. My husband and I are still waiting for a layer of putty and sanding of a ceiling that should have been completed weeks ago.

"Call Tim Ryan" is/was an ABSOLUTE ROCK STAR. I have a State Select direct venting gas water heater. It was cycling but stopping after a few seconds. Two error lights were also lit up. Based on Angie's List and luck, I called on a Sunday afternoon for emergency service. He picked up immediately, asked a few questions about my model and the situation, concluded what the most likely problem was, and then asked if I would like to try to tackle it myself or have him come out. I chose the DIY (with instruction) option. He told me the specific tools I needed and then simply said call him back. I secured the tools, called, he walked me through a couple of items and then got me to the point of the minor work that was needed. He then told me to simply call him back when done and tell him whether it worked or not. It worked perfectly. And, all along the way, he was a very professional, decent guy. I went so far as to say that he should send me a consult bill, and he just said to remember him next time. I'm sure for Sunday service, 98% of other companies (who even offer emergency service), would have been happy to charge me a large fixed fee for about 5-10 minutes of work if you know what you're doing. He/they are guaranteed to be my first call from now on for anything in the scope of their services!
Description of Work: Diagnosed my water heater problem over the phone and clearly explained/walked me through how to take care of it myself (in lieu of a visit out from him, which he would have made if needed).

I gave Tim a call late Friday morning to ask him if he could come by, assess our situation and give us a quote on a water heater. With us being on the polar opposite side of town than Tim he said that since he was going to Northern Kentucky he would stop by after his meeting there. An estimate was about 1330hrs. After exchanging a couple of texts once 1330hrs had come and gone Tim arrived at our house. He apologized and was sincere. That's the important part of the whole tardiness incident. Once he inspected my water heater, noting that it's a power-vent type (somewhat less common type), he recommended Rheem replacement. He gave me a figure and then told me that he recommended - but did not insist - on a couple of items which would help provide for a longer life of the furnace, to include a water-pressure relief tank and a ball valve to easily drain the tank. He said these would be approximately an extra $100. Very reasonable. When he arrived on Monday (I didn't insist on having him ruin his weekend with a Saturday install) he installed a couple of ball valves (to get to "code" standards) after he reworked both the gas & water piping as well as the ventilation piping. He put several hours into getting our new heater installed - and installed properly. Afterwards he gave me a thorough walk though on what he had done, the safety features of the water heater, how to turn off anything that I might need to next time, how to drain it properly and presented me with a bill for the exact amount we discussed. Nothing extra! Add to that his understanding when I didn't have proper payment that day due to my wife having the credit card we were putting it on and you can tell I'm a highly satisfied customer.

Time was critical because this was in response to a house inspection (seeling), and the leak was discovered. Mr. Ryan showed up within an hour of my call to inspect the unit. Unfortunately it needs replaced and he will send me a quote, but he did not charge me for the initial visit. He is sending a quote.

First of all I left a message for Tim Ryan explaining exactly what I wanted and requesting a return call. Despite the fact that his outgoing message assures that he will call you back. I waited several days and never received a call. Had I not already purchased the big deal, I probably would not have used Tim Ryan at all because that is a pet peeve of mine, but given the circumstances I called back and scheduled the work. He explained that he was quite busy but because we were eager he squeezed us in. He then had to call and re-schedule for a different day due to an emergency job he was working. He showed up as scheduled and got to work. He wasn't happy with one of the existing supply shut-off valves so he replaced it, although it was brand new, he said the previous plumber used the wrong one. Other than that, the project should have been cut and dry but for some reason it took him several hours and he wasn't able to complete the work. He came back very early the next morning but still did not complete the job. He was going out of town and said that he would come back when he got back in town, but was not clear about how much more he would charge us. We were not happy with the experience and did not call him back, nor did he contact us. I only purchased the big deal because up until that point, Tim Ryan had excellent ratings. Unfortunately for him I feel that he was swamped with work due to the Angie's List big deal and his quality and service suffered as a result. The poor man was exhausted! Nevertheless, my experience was not a good one and I will not use him in the future. I am also a little reluctant to purchase a Big Deal because of this experience as well.
Description of Work: Purchased the big deal from Angie's list for $99.00. We recently did some remodeling in our master bath and needed to have pipes connected back to the wall, the sink reconnected and a new mini widespread faucet installed. The big deal was for 4 hours of plumbing and I figured that to be adequate for the work we needed done, so I purchased the deal and called Tim to schedule the work.

He did not call back when promised. I followed up the following day with a text and he texted back that he would call me after he was done with his current job. He did not. I called a couple of days later and left a message asking him to call me back and telling him that I was getting tired of cold showers. He still did not call back. I called a couple of days later and he answered. It was a Friday and he said he would pick up the part and be by later that day to install it. He did not show, nor did he call to say he wouldn't be there. I called the following Monday (today) and he said he would have to drive to Kentucky to get the part and he couldn't do it today, but would be willing to do it if I wanted to pay extra. I was exasperated and let him know it. It had been over two weeks since he told me he would fix it the next day, he had not returned any of my calls, he had not shown up when he promised, and now he wanted me to pay EXTRA to make it a rush job! He realized that I was frustrated and was apologetic and said he would go get the part immediately and would be at my home at 5:30 to install it. It is 9:00 now and I haven't seen him or heard from him.
Description of Work: Tim Ryan was the installer for the water heater in my home (with a previous owner). When it stopped working, I called him. He came out within a couple of hours and diagnosed the problem and determined that it was covered by the warranty. He told me he would have to check on the part and would call me back that evening to schedule installation.

It is doubtful that I will be interested in another "deal." Tim Ryan really didn't fix anything in the 2 hours of plumbing with the deal. We wanted him to replace a bathroom shower's fixtures (faucet, showerhead, and handle). He couldn't get the old fixtures off and put some chemical on them and said he would try to get them off the next day. He returned the next day and still could not get the fixtures off...I'm sure that plumbers run into this problem and are able to find a remedy. We hear a clanging noise in our plumbing when we flush the toilets, water is running from faucets, using the dishwasher and clothes washer. His solution was to hand us a package with a hammer arrester in it. We are back at square one with none of the problems fixed and having paid for 2 hours of discounted plumbing services. We did have another plumber come over and take care of the clanging pipes. It was fixed in less than an hour. The same plumber has ordered new shower fixtures and is going to replace them.
