We met the American Weathertechs rep at the Indianapolis Home Show and talked with him about the insulated siding option they offered. We then met with Jeff Parrisey for an estimate at our home and were very pleasantly surprised at the cost - much less than we had expected. Due to the Home Show deal, the Tyvek paper was included at no extra cost if we signed up before the end of February (which we did). We also chose a discontinued color which saved us money too. After meeting with Jeff, I checked the company's rating on Angie's List (excellent) and Consumer Reports for their rating of the product - Prodigy by Alside - (very good rating). Based on those ratings and the price, we went ahead and signed the contract, which detailed everything. The installation started about 2 and half weeks after we signed and took about 5 and a half days - almost exactly how long Jeff said it would take. There were 2 installers and they were friendy and professional. The last day of the installation they did a very good job cleaning up and doing all the finishing touches (caulking, etc.). There was only 1 very minor glitch - Jeff had told us that they would provide new bands for reinstalling the downspouts, but the installers weren't aware of that so they didn't have anything and used the old ones instead. But we've been told that they will come back with the new bands at our conveniece, so that's all worked out. All in all, the company & installers did a great job at a great price and we're very happy with the results.
Description of Work: American Weathertechs installed insulated vinyl siding on our 2 story house over existing wood siding. Installation included repairing warped / cracked wood siding, Tyvek paper, siding, and other installation materials.

Shaun introduced himself on a cold-call walking the neighborhood. I found him very professional and scheduled a free energy audit with him. I fully expected a rather cursory audit focused on selling whatever product he was pushing, but was pleasantly surprised to receive a thorough, professional audit, using both visual inspection and infrared thermography. Shaun, pointed out quite a few things I didn't need to do, many simple things I could do myself, and a few things (of the many that American Weathertech provides) that he could do. I knew I had a problem with attic ventilation and had been thinking about gutters and soffits for several years. The fact that American Weathertech could do both was a big plus for me. Shaun provided a clear and comprehensive proposal and negotiated in good faith to come to an agreement. He was always professional, and while he clearly wanted to sell me his services, I never felf pressured. The contracts estimated work to start in about 3 weeks. The electrician to install the PowerSave device was the first to show. He scheduled and didn't show and rescheduled. Then he called several times for directions. We live in a pretty easy to navigate part of town, and with the ubiquity of GPS and Mapquest, it was a little tedious that he couldn't figure out how to get here on his own. But he found us, did a professional and quick installation and was a pleasant enough guy to have around for the 20 or 30 minutes. The PowerSave device is installed in the electrical panel and is supposed to save electricity wasted by most of the inductive motors in the house, such as those in major appliances like washer, dryer, refrigerator and air conditioner. I researched it with the references provided at the Dept of Energy and it still seems a little voodoo, but there also seemed to be some credibility to the underlying science. I won't know for sure how well it works, but the first month after I had it installed, the electric bill (dominated by the older, relatively inefficient air conditioner) was noticeably lower than previous, even with continuing 90+ temps. The roofers showed up to install the ridge vents more than 3 weeks after contract signing. They didn't know what they were supposed to do, and they put the scrap shingles in the recycle bin instead of the trash. But they did a good job in the end. The attic insulation started a little later, and with the long hot streak we had, I wish it had started closer to the promised time frame. The installer was very experienced and professional and left no mess. He had to relocate the attic antenna as it extended between the rafters and interfered with the radiant barrier. He consulted with me prior to see if that was OK. Quality was excellent and the temp in the warmest upstairs bedroom dropped 7 degrees after the insulation. Clearly money well spent just for the comfort and the energy savings will just be a bonus. The gutters, soffits and soffit vents were the last to be installed by a wide margin. Nearly 3 months after contract. In my mind "approximately 3 weeks" is not 3 months, hence the "F" in punctuality. They use a sub-contractor for gutters and soffits and their sub-contractor uses sub-contractors which caused some logistical headaches. Jessica at Weathertech, once I complained of the scheduling problems, was all over it like maple syrup on flapjacks. This is why they get an "A" in Responsiveness. They should have been on it on their own before that, but at least they did an awesome follow-up job once they were made aware of the issues. One of the problems with the sub-sub-contractors was they use different people for the soffits and gutters. The first guy showed up to remove the gutters and install the soffit vents and new soffits on a Wednesday, I recall. I asked when the gutters would be installed and he said "Friday". I called the office and they had "requested" Friday, but couldn't guarantee it. This is because they don't schedule their own crews, they put in requests for the sub-sub-contractors who ultimately control the schedules. Now this house (as I know is true for many in the neighbor hood) relies heavily on the gutters and downspouts to keep the water out of the basement. With somewhere between 2 and 5 (or more) days without gutters and a significant chance of rain in the forecast I gave the sub-contractor Al-Side the choice of rescheduling or accepting responsibility for any basement flooding. They chose the former. The reschedule took a few weeks, and Jessica and Weathertech as well as the rep at Al-Side did a nice job of keeping me updated, until the gutter crew showed up without notice (and before the soffit and fascia crew, which usually does their work first). The surprise visit was especially annoying because I wanted to discuss changing the downspout placement with the crew. fortunately, I was home mid-day and caught them and was able to get the downspouts properly placed. A simple phone call the day before, or even the day of the install would have been helpful. Another call to Al-Side cleared things up and the gutter crew did a nice job, except for the cleanup, which left a few aluminum gutter trimmings, the most notable one under my front tire, which my wife thankfully spotted before I backed over it. The soffits and fascia and soffit vents were installed a few days later. They did an incredible job. It is gorgeous and looks perfectly in place with the rest of the house, which was built in 1929. One nice thing about the soffits is that all of them are invisibly ventilated, as opposed to some others which you see perforated panels periodically around the soffit. So in summary, the quality of all the work was top-notch. It took a lot more active involvement and oversight that I would have liked, and the punctuality (especially of the gutters and soffits) was abysmal. Based on the final results, I'd definitely recommend, but with the caution that the use of sub-sub-contractors will cause logistic headaches I'd rather not have to deal with.
Description of Work: Complete energy audit. Installed radiant barriers, baffles, cellulose insulation and ventilation in the attic. Replaced gutters and soffits.

Response from American Weathertechs LLC - Cincinnati
Member, First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your time and effort in providing us with such a thorough review. We appreciate all the positive feedback as well as information that we can improve on for future customers. Due to unforseen storm damage in the Indianapolis area our lead times were not characteristic of our normal day to day business operation and were not properly conveyed to you by our salesman. However, we are extreemely glad that our product quality and promptness of our responses to your issues were satisfactory to you. We strive to provide every customer the excellent products as well as to meet their expectations with timelines provided by our company. We apologize for the inconveniences that took place during the soffit and gutter installation process. We hope that all future correspondence between you and American Weathertechs will overcome any negativity that was derrived from not meeting our initial time lines as set forth in your siding and gutter contract. Again we thank you for all the feedback and hope that you will be able to highly recommend American Weathertechs to future customers. Sincerely, American Weathertechs

. The installers were actually early, courteous, no mess in my house or yard. They demonstrated to me how to operate the windows. The windows are just beautiful. They cut down on the noise and heat from the sun. I am totally satisfied with the product. A great experience for a change.
Description of Work: I received an estimate to replace my rotting wood windows with Vinyl. I wanted to keep the wood look on the interior and AW offered a wood veneer window in multiple shades that was exactly what I had been looking for. I placed the order with a 10% deposit. The windows arrived in about three weeks. The installation was scheduled. Everything was on time and just what I ordered.

We met with a salesman who was informative but not overly pushy. Once we agreed to use their company, they sent out someone to do measurements. At the indicated time, someone called to tell us the windows had arrived and to schedule the installation. Unfortunately, the install took 3 days (which was what was agreed to) given the amount of windows we were replacing. The group did a good job cleaning up. There were some minor issues with the weatherstripping on a couple of windows and they did not spackle a few places where there was damage. However, they scheduled someone to come out and fix these issues for us promptly.

They were awesome! And fast (only took them 2 days)! They did such a wonderful job with the new windows. Our interior trim was not harmed, the windows and exterior wrapping were meticulously installed and look wonderful. We've had the windows for over a year and don't have a single complaint. The windows are great, the people we worked with were honest, on time, and did a very nice job. I would definitely recommend them.

They did a great job and did all 25 in one day. They started off with two installers and gradually as the day went on more and more installers came to help complete the job. It seems we ended up with about eight men completing the job. The windows are difficult to lock back once they have been opened but the more they are opened and closed they seem to be "breaking in". The windows we don't open very often are still a little difficult to lock back in place. Initially the top window will come down when you close the bottom portion which makes it difficult to align and lock them. However, as I stated they are "breaking in" and it's becoming easier. It has greatly helped with our electric bill. Some say the triple pane are "overkill" in our area, however since window technology is constantly changing and getting better (different gases now being used for better insulation) I felt it was better to get the best insulated now. Down the road when newer technology is developed we won't be as far off on value as someone who purchases a double pane window.

American Weather Techs did a good job. We are OK with them. They were timely and it was cold when they put the windows in. They did a good job and they did not mess around and cleaned up after themselves. They also had to watch out for the lead based paint which we have on our house. They were very professional as well. They cleaned up the yard well and did a really good job. They were very professional and you could tell they have been doing this for awhile. They also explained everything about us having lead based paint, which another company did not even mention. They improved the look of the house! They told me when they were coming and how long it would take and that is what happened. I would recommend them to anybody. They are not the cheapest but it is worth it.

My husband negotiated the poor salesman nearly to death, and I'm sure we ended up with a fair price. We ended up with great, really high-quality, triple-paned, argon-filled windows, and we're loving them. Our old windows were aluminum framed and difficult to open, plus we had to switch out storm windows for screens every summer/winter. It was a pain. These are inclusive and it's very easy to open and close the windows. We're happy with them. I was not at home for the installation but my husband was. He said the crew was very friendly and agreed to show him how they worked and some tricks of the trade. They cleaned up the mess and by the time I got home I couldn't tell anyone had been there. Other than having fancy new windows, of course. They look great. We can't wait for good weather so we can open them up.

Did my research on what criteria I wanted my new windows to meet and settled on Preservation EnergyMaxx 10 windows from Alside Window Company. The installers came and measured all the windows to be replaced and when the windows were ready a date was set for installation. The installers showed up on time and installed 10 double hung and 2 picture windows the first day completing all the inside work. The second day they installed the garden window and did the insulation and finish work on the outide of the windows. The installers were professional and in my opinion did a fantastic job. I would not hesitate using them again or recommending them to family or friends. Overall a great experience.

We made an appointment with them because they came to the door to talk to us. The guy was great: he was very professional and easy to talk to. We ended up buying windows and they’ll be measuring on Friday. They told us what the process will be like, who will call us, when they will call, and what the next steps are. My experience has been great so far. It was a bit of a high pressure sale because we basically had to decide that day if we wanted the deal. Other than that, I was very pleased.

Chris came to our door one day asking if we would be interested to see their replacement windows. Knowing we were going to look into new windows this year I told him yes and we set a date for him to come back and demonstrate their product. He called the night before letting us know when he would be here. He was on time and was very professional in his sales talk. We liked the windows and the way they were made and the quality of material, and the extra features they have. We told him we would get back to him after we thought about it and checked a few other Co.'s. He also told us to check them out on Better Business Bu. Which we did and found they come highly recommended. We decided to go with this American WeatherTechs and are very happy we did. A supervisor came from Alside Windows and did the measuring, explaining to my husband and myself what was going to be done and how it would be handled. He answered any questions we had and was very professional. Then the day came we got the phone call that the windows were in and gave us the date they would be here to install them. Well, the date to be installed was a very rainy day, and for three days after that. The supervisor, of the crew, called and told us if OK with us they would be here Sat. and have a bigger crew and get all the windows installed that day. We agreed. They came with at least 5 or 6 guys, who were great. They worked in teams and knew what they were doing. Most work was done from the outside, very little inside till the end. And they were very clean. Put tarps down by all work areas incase some derbies fell on the floor. When they were completed, they removed everything, and even vacumed the carpet by the windows, even though they used tarps. We were very impressed, the whole crew was great to get along with and explained things as we asked. And the windows are WONDERFUL. They are triple pane with a uv protection tint. Also has white on the inside and tan on the outside to match the house trim. Excelent to clean and pull inside, top and bottom. Has security locks for window to be open 5 or 6 inches. And the glass slider door is great. It has a double lock on the door and then the foot lock for extra security. We would recommend American WeatherTechs to everyone, and the Preservation Collection windows by alside. We think their products are great, and all the people we delt with are wonderful.

The representative was prompt and informative. We found the presentation to be comprehensive and helpful. The quote for our home's windows was competitive but we were not interested in replacing all of our home's windows at this juncture(which would have been ideal for show home purposes).
Description of Work: A representative contacted us about becoming a "show home" in our area, which would reduce the cost of window installation. We met with the representative for approximately one hour and he gave us a presentation on the windows and had an actual window for display.
