Pro Cut Landscape Development

We moved into a new home and the small backyard was full of rocks, weeds and water. We had several quotes, but went with Pro-Cut because the salesman had a very good approach to solving the grading issue, and it was spelled out in the contract. The workers showed up and spent the day removing rocks and leveling and adding dirt and grass seed. When complete, I expressed my concern that the grade seemed wrong, it wasn't low where it should be. I was told it would be a "work in progress" to get it right. After the first rain, the problem was WORSE than before they started. Over the next 3 months, I called/texted/e-mailed them over 20 times. The problem was worse every time they came. Their "grass" turned out to be weeds, and their "dirt" was full of rocks. They would come out and push dirt around, and finally installed a flexible drain, not in the location the contract stated. We spent 3 weekends removing weeds and grading the backyard properly. We removed 8 bags of rocks and weeds in a very small area. We finally have the problem corrected and the grading accurate. The 2 employees of this company that spoke with us on the phone couldn't believe the way we were treated, but were powerless to help us. We have never had such a bad experience with a contractor before.

The provider contacted me and said they do not service my area.

Mulch was put on too thin in our opinion. Therefore we still had many weeds in the beds which they covered during the summer months.

Was surprised not to have mulch installed around my house. Under raspberries and back flower bed and one side of house was not completed. Only the bushes on front of my house were trimmed. Bushes behind and on side of my house were not trimmed. The main reason I got the trim package was to have the tree that was touching my house trimmed. This was not completed. I thought that the herbicide application would stop the weeds from growing--unfortunately still having a problem with weeds. The bushes that were trimmed were cleaned nicely and all clippings removed.

Everything went fine. The Men were professional and cleaned up completely.

They did not perform the work that was advertised. They advertised they were going to bring in a mulch blowing truck. When they showed up it was a dump truck with wheelbarrows and I needed more mulch and they didn’t have any.

They were great. The fellow who came out was very pleasant and came to the door to introduce himself. There was enough mulch for an additional (approximate) 6’ x 6 circle.

It wasn’t a great experience, C- overall. They came out to provide a plan for landscaping, but they never followed through in providing a draft. We finally just had them credit the value of the deal for weeding, bed cleanup, and mulching. They were pleasant and prompt, but we were overall disappointed in their follow-through.

One need only read the other 'F' reviews for this company on Angie's List to get the picture. First, Mike Butts (owner?) didn't even call me to schedule the initial work. I had to keep calling him. They promised that the work could be done the week following when I hired them. It took an entire month and the work was shoddy. - The first time they came there were two workers. One was a young boy who was 'training'. The other didn't know how to use the edger and he messed up a couple of spots in my yard. He didn't even tell me about them before they left. - They left without completing the job. - Did not remove the egded grass. Contract said "remove and haul away edging". Didn't happen. - A week later, after I complained, they sent two people to assess the situation. These two workers could only shake their head and apologize. They were not able to fix or complete anything in the time available that day. - A couple of weeks later, they sent five workers. They got the job done quickly and it showed. Some of the yard doesn't even look edged. Where they did attempt it, it's VERY crooked and not deep enough to be considered "edged". All in all, I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are very unprofessional with very poor customer service.

This was one of the most negative experience I have ever had with a landscaping company. We were supposed to get spring yard cleaning, mulching, edging, plant removal/new plants and trimming. We do not feel the original services we agreed to were delivered in a timely, efficient or professional manner. The only portion of the work that was completed correctly, and on time, was the spring cleaning, the plant removal and install of three hydrangea bushes in the front yard. The initial mulch delivery and install was over 12 hours late. Broken equipment caused our yard to not be edged. The mulch was also poorly laid with spotty coverage due to the fact it was dark during half of the install. There were only two workers. The lead worker even admitted he was embarrassed by the job, and the fact their equipment did not work. He also said he was not qualified to trim the lilacs or the rosebush which were supposed to be completed at the time of the mulch install. After several phone calls, there was meeting at our home where Mike Butts met with my husband to walk the yard to review all the outstanding items: 1. Edging 2. Trimming the Lilacs, which were not originally trimmed due to blooms 3. Trimming and tying the rosebush, originally neglected/refused due to lack of experience 4. Installing additional mulch to fill in sparse areas The crew was supposed to complete the work mentioned above on 6/13. My husband and I were out of town, but our house-sitter sent pictures of all areas so we could review the work. The only work that had been completed was the additional mulch. I forwarded pictures of the neglected items to Mike Butts on 6/14. He confirmed via text he would trim them himself on 6/19. He never came. The work was never completed. I trimmed and tied the rosebush myself, and trimmed our lilacs on 6/22. My husband also did the edging of the perimeter of our yard himself. This has been an extremely disappointing experience. The amount of stress this project caused should not be experienced by any homeowner. Furthermore, the admission from the actual crew that the company had poor equipment and a lack of accountability was staggering and speaks to the poor quality of the ProCut organization. I have now been invoiced twice for the remaining balance of the work ($571) which was never completed and blatantly ignored by the company. I emailed twice contesting the invoice with no response. I called to talk to an employee about the invoice. I spoke with Patrick who had no answers. When I asked him what he did for Pro-Cut he literally responded "I do not know what I do for the company." I asked if there was anyone I could speak with that could assist with this issues and was told Mike Butts is the only person I can speak with. I asked if Mike owned the business and he could not answer that question. I selected this company because of positive ratings on Angie's List. I have only used Angie's List once before to get floor quotes, but am sincerely concerned over the quality of the contractors listed after this experience.

ProCut showed up within a week of my signing up for the offer on one of the days I requested. I wasn't home because they did not call to confirm the date, but the beds looked great when I returned home. The beds were in terrible shape and hadn't been weeded or pruned for almost a year. All weeds were removed, all shrubbery pruned and a good thick layer of quality black mulch was applied. Great deal and great job!

We were very disappointed with ProCut. The crew arrived on scheduled but it consisted of three men, one of whom was a 14 year old boy. He was a good kid and tried, but he simply was not capable of providing the man hours of service we paid for and expected. The crew leader spent the vast majority of his time playing with his ear buds and barking out orders to the 14 year old kid and the other young man on the crew. He did very little actual work yet his time was also charged against the man hours paid for. The crew removed the shrubs we asked them to remove but they failed to remove some other items or clean up the front shrub bed. They also showed up without any gloves or an edger! My 72 year-old mother-in-law got a lot more accomplished in the time the crew was here. I contacted ProCut and gave them a chance to make things right. They were responsive and sent another crew out a week later but that crew did very little and again showed up without an edger. They said they would come back and edge but that never happened. Overall we were very disappointed and feel like we were ripped off.

It went very well. Through their work, I accomplished what I needed to accomplish - getting rid of my old landscaping so that I could start fresh. They tore out neglected shrubs and even cut down a small (about 15' high) evergreen. They said it would be a minor additional charge (I think maybe $20) to haul it away, but I just had them drag it to the wooded area on my property. I'm happy!

What was advertised in the deal: "$399 for a landscaping packageIncludes 5 yards of Mulch installedPruning of trees and shrubs (up to 10 feet tall)Weed control landscape beds for herbicide" They pruned some of the bushes and laid down mulch on my front landscaping. I would have liked to have seen them prune the suckers off of my tree but overall satisfied with the work they did. I wanted to speak with them before they arrived at the house and I only heard from them when they pulled into the driveway.

Did not happen, they did not serve the Willoughby; area. Had to get a refund.

There was a slight misunderstanding with scheduling. They did a good job. They did a cleanup for me including trimming hedges, edging my front yard and installing fresh mulch. In the back they refreshed mulch in river rock area and put river rock in areas where I wanted it. They did everything I asked. They discounted the materials as well since I purchased the deal. We were very pleased with the work.

The work and quality of service was great. Communication was lousy. They were scheduled at 9:30 and showed up 2:00. I called the company and they tried to get a hold of the crew. The person I talked to jumped through hoops to find the crew. They brought a pickup truck with 3 people. I didn’t see the weight slip. The price was right. The gentleman spreading the mulch did a good job. They need to let people know that they aren’t going to get here at the scheduled time.

They showed up on time and did very well. However I was surprised when they asked to use some of our equipment to do the yard work, I would have thought they would have brought their own.

To be fair, the crew of 4 were there for a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes including a break. However, the work was shoddy, the shrubs were not all trimmed.( I took a photo of one shrub that still had cob webs in it, proving it was not touched.) The trimming was minimal. There are still weeds in the beds that were missed. No bed edging was performed at all! There was some debris left in my lawn and in the beds. Frankly every time I looked out the window, someone, often more than one worker was just standing there doing nothing. In 8 hours I could have done all that I asked for if I was able and it would have looked better. Basically I got some weeds pulled, some chemicals sprayed and my shrubs trimmed and debris cleaned. I was very disappointed and would NEVER recommend this provider. I feel totally ripped off.

Pro-cut did a nice job spreading mulch. The mulch was placed evenly and the crew cleaned up well.

I purchased a Angie's List coupon for $320 for 8 hours of Lawn/Landscape Clean Up. I was looking for a new provider to take over lawn and landscape care. The only good thing I can say about the service was that the crew was polite and worked hard. To start, it was difficult to get anyone to respond and schedule an appointment. I received the e-mail confirming payment for the coupon which also stated that someone from the company would contact me to make an appointment. I waited more than a week and called. I left a message with someone who said I would be called back. I wasn't, so I called again. An appointment was made and had to be rescheduled because of the weather. The appointment was rescheduled for 9am on a Friday and I received a text at 8:00am that day, saying they would be out in the afternoon. I had arranged to be at home in the morning, and asked that they come at 9am. They did. The crew was ill equipped. They had no strimmer. They also didn't bring their motorized edger, saying that it was too wet to edge with it. However, my neighbor was using his motorized edger that morning, with no problem. They did bring a ride on mower; the lawn was not a pretty sight after they had mowed. The grass length was at different heights {how is that possible?}, there were grass clippings left all over the sidewalk and the edging [done manually] was left half done around the beds. Without the use of a strimmer, the grass at the edge was left long. I had to leave before the landscapers were finished and I agreed to pay for additional hours [I was not told the rate]. Pro Cut had the audacity to bill me time and a half for "overtime" [late morning on a weekday] at a rate of $60 an hour for unskilled, unequipped labor. The coupon had said that additional hours, if needed, would be charged at "normal low rates". When I returned home, I was appalled at the state of the lawn and beds. I texted Mike Butts and invited him to drive by and take a look at the work done. I received no response and presume he did not follow up. We got our lawn mower and strimmer out and finished the job. I would NOT recommend this Landscape Company.

They did a nice job and they were punctual. They cleared out a couple of beds, took out landscape bricks, killed a lot of plants, and did yard clean up. The technicians that came out were friendly and great overall.
