Even though I spent $65 to learn the microwave shouldn't be fixed, I appreciated the fact that he told me before just fixing and then giving me a bill.

The repairman came out, diagnosed the problem (i had researched it on lone.). He told me the cost ---- 6 year old washer. He ordered the part and was back on Monday to install it.

This ignitor replacement was the final event in a series of events. It began when the oven was set to bake and was taking very long to heat up. There was a bit of a smell at the time and we weren't sure if it could be the smell of gas or not. I called Columbia Gas. They sent a technician to our house and he turned off the gas, saying we had a leak and needed to call a plumber to fix the leak, and also replace outdated valves to all appliances and in the crawl space. The plumbers came, replaced all of the old valves and checked for leaks. They determined that there had to be a leak in the pipe in the garage which was buried in the concrete slab floor. (Today pipes cannot be buried in concrete as they were when the house was built.) They disconnected that pipe and added all new pipes above the floor surface. They said it would have been simpler for me to call them directly, rather than calling Columbia Gas, and they could have turned the gas back on immediately after completing their work. By calling Columbia Gas, additional work had to be done to bring everything up to current standards, even if old parts were still working. And our gas was turned off for 7 days. After all of the gas line work, the oven was still working slowly. It was then that Dave Smith Appliance Services came in to check the oven. The technician said that the ignitor was weak and had to be replaced. He said it was possible (though he couldn't speak about previous work done by other services) that all we ever needed was a new ignitor, and not all of the other gas line work. That's because Columbia Gas can detect very tiny leaks. Many homes have tiny leaks that are harmless. But once the gas company is involved, everything has to match their standards. So we will never know for sure if all of the gas line expenses were necessary.

Mike the technician came to our house after we called and made an appointment. He thoroughly checked the dryer and diagnosed the problem to either of two parts. He ordered the part he thought was the problem and came back 3 days earlier then he estimated. The part proved not to be the problem so he ordered the other part. Again 3 days earlier then estimated he returned with the part and repaired the dryer. Price, service, and results were all outstanding and I would recommend Dave Smith Appliance Repair to anyone who asked me.

I discovered that our refrigerator was not cooling. Even though I called Dave Smith at 4:30 friday night they were able to send the service man (Jim) out at 5:30. It only took him 5 minutes to figure out the problem---he had the part in his truck and repaired it by 6:00.Jim is a very nice man with 10 years of experience in the business. I got a $12 dollar discount for angies list and also a 10% senior citizen discount. I highly recommend this company.

He was very prompt on both days that he was here. The guy was courteous and clean. He did a good job repairing the appliances and cleaned up well after himself. I was real happy with the service, but the price was a little high.

They did a good job in terms of the repair. I felt they could have been more upfront in their pricing structure. I understand they may not fully understand the project before coming out, but upfront pricing would be helpful.

I set the appointment up for the following day but then had to call back and change the service date due to a conflict in my schedule. Ruth was very helpful in helping me locate my model and serial number. Mike was the tech that came to fix the washer. He explained what was wrong and the cost before performing any repairs. He was very polite and repaired the washer in a efficient manner. Very professional.

Oops. I told the story above. I will add that I did not get more than one estimate. I thought the price was fair and because of the other services provided, if perhaps the cost was more than a competitor, it would be more than compensated by the additional help received. I did pay an additional $50 for the time spent on the dryer. It was well worth the money to know the problem. Yea Dave Smith Appliance11

They were very professional, changed the appointment time to accomodate my schedule, showed up promptly as per the appointment. Came in, determined what the problem was, gave me the estimated cost, and once approved, completed the work. Overall, they were a joy to work with. I had called another company before this company, and they never showed up. I was referred to them by Philips Appliance who my daughter had used in the past, but they were referring their customers to Dave Smith Appliance. I will definitely use them again.
