Description of Work: Installed a 50 gallon gas water heater. Bill was our installer. Work was promised between 8 and 10; got a call at 7:50 that Bill was on his way. He was punctual, professional, friendly and CLEAN! Put tarps down on hard wood floors and carpeted basement stairs & wore footies. Very happy with our decision to use Benjamin Franklin!

Description of Work: Removed a leading saddle valve and repaired the section and troubleshot a clog. I actually really enjoyed the visit by Bryan, I believe his name was. I'm embarrassed too say that I didn't remember where my main shutoff was and thought it was at another location.. The plumber showed me the correct location and then continued to do the work. He also showed me a couple other things that could use some attention without being pushy about doing it then and there.. Overall a great experience brought from a bad situation. Thanks!

Description of Work: This was a complete and total rip off. The only thing they did right was show up to the right address. I had a plug downstream from the tub and sink on a first floor apartment in a rental I own. My normal plumber was on a commercial job and I needed someone to get things figured out so the tenant could shower. I found the blockage myself using the snake I had but was unable to pull it up. I called Ben Franklin and then I headed out to another property for work. The plumber called me and said that he needed to snake all three affected drains and it was going to be $185 per drain (on top of the $65 assessment). I told him that was unnecessary and that all he needed to do was snake the tub. He got defensive and said "well in telling you what I'm seeing here and I'll try what you're suggesting but if it doesn't work we will have to try something else." I said "ok" and told him to call me back. I knew at this point that he was going to call back and tell me that what I had suggested didn't work or that he had already done more than one drain and got it working and that I was wrong. So about 30 minutes tick off and he calls and says that he has to snake all 3 and that the pipes were collapsing and he needed to break the wall down to get the lavatory sink flowing again (for an extra $450) He told me that he got the tub to drain and the kitchen sink to drain and that he would waive the fee for the 3rd drain because he couldn't get it to drain. Keep in mind that I didn't give him permission to do more than one drain. We haggled over the price for a minute and in the end I ended up paying over $400. I went back to the unit that night and things were still draining slowly and he had disassembled the tub faucet for some reason and left it in the tub. I called Alexis sewer on the recommendation of an electrician friend of mine and they went out the next morning and were able to snake the tub as I had stated as well as get the lavatory sink draining without opening the wall. I paid them $75. I would never recommend Ben Franklin plumbing to anyone for anything. I joined this website with the explicit purpose of writing this review. Complete CRIMINALS.

Description of Work: I needed a repair to the first floor tiolet commode. The service man arrived promply and did the job. Truly he wanted to sell me a new commode rather than fix the problem. However, he did the repair satisfactorily. I thought he was a bit unprofessional in manner--thought he was very youn. Still he kept telling me to "treat the commode handle with love" since it was a repair and not new. I just felf uncomfortable. And he kept telling me to join their club or plan for future services. Very hard sell.

+ -1 moreI get a postcard from them ever so often for being a good customer, but I have never heard of them. I heard evidence in my kitchen sink that I was going to have a back-up. I looked at that postcard and it said they are in my neighborhood on Wednesdays and I would not have to pay a service charge because they are already in the neighborhood. So I decided to take advantage of that. I called and he came. He did a tour of the plumbing in my house. I have the original in the house from the 60s. He saw it was straight and it is supposed to have a sway to deter back-ups. He suggested I have the main drain under the house replaced in the crawl space. I thought it sounded like a good idea. It would go sooner than later and I would rather pay for this then have a flooded in my crawl space. I was willing to invest in this. I felt that what he quoted me, something like $2000, would be about the same as someone else so I decided to go with it. Part of the service was to inspect the water heater. They had given me a quote for $2000 to replace it and I was not willing to do that. The work that they did was very good. The only thing I did not like was the quote for the water heater and sump pump. I believe Benjamin Franklin is a division or related to All Seasons Plumbing. The pipe is under my house and all seems to be okay. But it is under my house and I have no way of judging. I would probably not use them again in the future because of the price.

+ 0 moreI have always been quite happy with Ben Franklin Plumbing and will use no one else. They are always on time, and always call first before coming. Dana is also so nice on the phone. Matt came over to do my annual water inspection. While there, he suggested I have my very old water heater replaced. He also replaced a toilet that had broken the day before he was scheduled. Matt had the water heater in the truck, and had another worker drop off a new toilet. Work was done fast and correctly with no fuss. Cleanup was excellent. I recommend Franklin Plumbing without reservation.

I decided to sign up for their Members club and today had a visit from Larry who inspected all my plumbing and made very reasonable recomedations about my water heater, future upgrades and he offerred simple solutions to annoying problems (how to fix a jammed disposal). While he was here my neighbor came over with a question about a pipe leak and he was very kind and offered helpful suggestions to her as well. I was very impressed. If I have a plumbing need in the future I plan on calling on them.

+ 0 moreThe dispatcher was extremely professional and courteous. Several options were given for the service call, from same day to next day. I selected next day. Larry arrived on time, very quickly assessed the problem, quoted a price to replace the sump pump (he actually had 2 different models available in his van), then performed the work in about 20 minutes. Then he offered a complimentary water heater inspection and service, which I accepted. He discovered that the original installer had not properly vented the fumes, which he corrected, then confirmed that the water heater was functioning properly, gave me some advice on future routine maintenance I could perform, applied inspection stickers, and was on his way.
Description of Work: Replaced a malfunctioning sump pump and performed a complimentary water heater service.

They were on time, called ahead to let us know they were on the way to the house, explained everything before doing the work including cost and showed us everything he had done after he finished. Dave, the plumber that did our work was very helpful, easy to talk with, didn't push to up sell and cleaned up after he was done. We will use them again if we have the need.
