They never showed. I called and was told part didn't come in, that they would call when it came in. Called again and again. From start to finish this took about 2 1/2 weeks and got nowhere. Found another contractor to complete the job and let this go until now. Was looking for something else on Angie's list and came across their name and realized I had never completed this review. After such long conversations about how they went about their business I was quite disappointed with the company. It was like they fell off the face of the earth.

I also found record of an estimate we provided for repair at your rental property, along with some notes regarding the details. It appears that your tenant had been working on the furnace himself with your permission. When our technician diagnosed the problem as an intermittent draft motor failure your tenant said he was going to replace the motor himself. Our technician stated that he informed you of this and you agreed to let your tenant handle the repair. Our records do not indicate any further contact with you through our office. I now wonder if you tried contacting us back through our technician directly. If so, he would have informed you to call our office to schedule an appointment to proceed with the quoted repair. Other than the above information we have no other details on record. It appears as though we didn't charge you a service call or diagnostic fee. Obviously we would have proceeded with the repair had we been authorized by you to do so. Possibly after so much time has gone by you may be confused about the details. I was very happy with their professionalism and service. This was the first time I had used Action Heating & Air Conditioning & Electrical. The technician, made sure I was happy with the service and if I had any questions. He went over my questions giving me helpful tips to improve self upkeep to the unit and made sure I understood what he was talking about. I would recommend them to anyone looking for their service. With an older air conditioning system (which was found to have a leak), the freon was expensive. Mike explained everything and recharged the unit and added a leak stop. I originally purchased a furnace cleaning through Angies list ...My furnace had been making a strange noise and I thought I better have somebody come in to take a look at it ... I placed an appointment about a week down the line ....and apparently I didn't make the appointment soon enough because my furnace started to act funny and wouldn't stay on very long ....and it just happened to be the night when the temperature was forecast to drop to negative double digits... I called Action Heating and they were unable to make it at that time and could come in the morning ....problem was that the furnace was getting worse to the point that it was not even staying on long enough to do any good and the temp in my house was dropping fast. I took it upon my self to see if I could troubleshoot it .... I discovered that there was water in where the blower motor was and the noise I was hearing was a gurgling sound .... I subsequently pulled a hose off and relieved some of the water build up and was able to get my furnace to function enough to work through the night.... Action was there the next morning, promptly and determined right away what I thought the problem was...and confirmed my diagnosis.... They brought in another individual who cleaned it very well and informed me that there would be an additional charge.... I said OK and told them to let me know what that would be and I would write them a check....At the same time they told me that my blower motor's bearing was failing and that it was running on borrowed time ....making a grinding noise ...didn't seem that bad to me ...but what the the h*** do I know.... They told me the repair for a new motor assembly would be approximately $ 800.00 ....they informed me that my Lennox furnace was up around I believe 16 years old and that it might be time to consider buying a new furnace...They gave me what seemed like a reasonable price on one of their furnaces ...I think it was a Rheem. I thought about it ....and said I would consider it and they said that they would get back to me regarding the additional charges on their service.... Well, it has been about 2 months and I have not heard back from them .....I am assuming that they decided the service that they provided was not all that much more than the basic furnace cleaning that they were hired to do ....and they decided to ...as a good will gesture to leave it as is and figured maybe that I will be needing more service in the near future....Overall I was satisfied ....I think they were honest with me .... and even though they didn't have anything nice to say about my Lennox furnace ....I wouldn't hold it against them ....I would not hesitate to call them again. We appreciate when customers tell their story about our service. It helps those that read these reviews to have an idea about what they can expect if they choose to use our services. You pointed out that you felt I was honest with you. Thank you. We pride ourselves in that we tell our customers the truth regarding what we find during our diagnoses, and repair process. An example of this was mentioned in your review regarding the draft induce motor. You and I discussed the reality that although it was/is working, the noise it is making is an indication that it could stop working at anytime. The reason for my suggestion of replacing it was based on the noise, and also on the fact that a substantial amount of water had gotten into the motor due to the blocked drain. You elected not to replace it at that time , and that is perfectly fine. One of our goals is to be as thorough as possible and provide our customers information that helps them make the best decisions for themselves at the time. I did mention the idea of replacing the furnace as well. We routinely talk about this option when we are working on older equipment. Sometimes it is better to replace than repair. But again this is always meant to provide all possible solutions for our customers. In the end we are happy to do whatever is best for the customers we are working with at the time. What a distortion of the facts,I arrived to find your furnace read tagged and leaking gas. Even though it had been RED tagged someone had turned it back on allowing natural gas to leak into the house. I could smell the raw gas and informed you of it, you acted liked you had no clue as to anything being wrong with your furnace. It was only after talking to your husband on the phone that I discovered you were aware of gas leaks in your home. I had to undo the gas piping going into the furnace and remove the burners, at which time I cleaned them. I had to apply pipe dope on the pipes and reinstall it at which time the leak was stopped as I tested it with my gas leak detector. I removed the electronic filter cells and told you most people place them in the dishwasher and clean them. I admit I didn't know how to remove the shelves in your dishwasher. You said your husband knew how. It was about 10 degrees out and too cold to wash them down outside. No vacuum was used because the burners are external. I cleaned the flame sensor with Emory cloth and reinstalled it. I starred your furnace and tested the gas pressure and tighten all the screws on the motherboard. I checked the blower operation and reinstalled the filter door. At no time did you express any concerns about the job I had performed or any disatisfaction. I was on time and our response was timely, I gave you the price for the leak repair prior to performing it. I was on time which means I was punctual. I feel your review is unwarranted and unfair. If you were unhappy you certainly had ample opportunity to discuss it with me as I knew you were an Angies list customer and asked you if you were happy with everything and If you would give us a good grade. I was blown away by the communication from this company. We were scheduled for Monday, February 2, but with the 14 inches of snow, that it would not occur. However, James called me that morning, and they were still willing to come out immediately. Unfortunately, I had a driveway covered in snow, so we rescheduled for Friday p.m. Again, on Friday, James called me to let me know what the timeframe would be. A extremely nice and professional tech, also called James (different one) came to my home. He quickly solved the problem with the one light not working, replaced the plug, and helped me put up the new ceiling light fixture. He then went to the main panel, and checked it out for me. I would NOT hesitate to recommend this company to anyone for the professionalism, courtesy, and timeliness. I know I will certainly use them again in the future.

It did not take them a long time to come out. It did cost more than the $49 Big Deal because he had to buy a part. They were supposed to come and do the routine check. Then, the lady called and she said she had a problem and so I called and asked if they could come and take care of that first because we were getting into the season where they needed heat. So, he did come out and made a special trip to do that. They did a good job. It is working.

The service turned out just fine. They are right on-time. If they are not going to make it on time, they call and say they are running late. They do an excellent job. They are very personable. They are great people. I would use them anytime and recommend them to somebody else. I will be using them again this spring for my air conditioner and again in the winter for my heating service. They did not come right away because in the mean time I had a problem from out of the apartment and they took care of that first. Then, we rescheduled on our own and they came out then and took care of my place here at home. There were no extra charges to the $69 Big Deal. They seem to know exactly what they are doing. They can tell you all along what they are doing and why. I guess it is two brothers and they are just both very personable. It felt like I have known them forever. I think their pricing is fine. The one time, the guy was scheduled at a certain time and it got really cold and I guess people were having problems with their furnaces. He called and asked me if it would be alright if he would come at a different time because they were just tied up with people calling for them to get their heat back on. So, I had no problem with that. They were professional.

I called and left a message with their service. Terry called me back within 5 minutes and came to my house within hours. My furnace wasn't working. He told me it needed to be replaced, which I expected since it was 24 years old. He gave me a choice of three furnaces and I chose the mid range. He said he could have a crew out the very next day to install it. The guys came out early the next afternoon. They were pleasant and professional. They had my new furnace installed in just a few hours. They cleaned up after themselves. The new furnace keeps the house so warm I had to turn the thermostat down 2 degrees. I had the same crew out last summer to install a new air conditioner, so I knew I could expect fast, dependable, reasonably priced service. I would highly recommend this company for any HVAC service.

I called around to a few companies including Action. They provided a prompt estimate without charging me for the estimate and put in the new lines I needed for my washer/dryer and furnace within an hour's time. Our home is an old one and had been vandalized so needed some new lines put in and connected at the breaker box. Since they did such a great job with this we called them again for troubleshooting our upstairs and they came out and after some frustrating times, they did get most of the lights working to where we are satisfied. In the future we will more than likely re-wire the whole house and upgrade to a 200 AMP service and will consider using Action for that work as well.
Description of Work: Installed two new electrical lines - one for Washer/Dryer and one for Furnace. Troubleshooted old electrical wires to get them working.

I just joined Angie's list and found this company at the top of the list. Here was my experience. It was the middle of a hot summer and my air conditioner went out. Another service provider recommended that I get a new unit. I wanted a second opinion and noticed that this company provides free estimates. They came out looked at the unit and recommended that I replace a part. I agreed to have him replace the part. I did not realize the full price he was going to charge me. At the time I just wanted it fixed. When he told me the price after the service was complete I thought it was high, and he brought it down. Being two years ago I do not know who it was that came out to provide the service from that company, but during the exchange in which the price was negotiated down that individual was rude and didn't employ the best customer service skills. I now use another company which would have charged $125 less than what I paid for the same service, and I would not recommend Action based on the price and the level of customer service I experienced. This review accurately represents my experience. In Response to the Service Providers Comments This review has been modified from a harsher review. After that review the service provider attempted to contact me through my parents. After I did not return a phone call they contacted my parents again to ask if they had contacted me and asked me to contact Action. I called Action and asked them to stop calling my family. The representative from Action attempted to pressure me into changing my review. At the time I was unsettled by the representatives persistent attempts to contact me. I stated I would not alter my review, and I again asked him to stop contacting me and my family. He then began to say, "don't be a sissy." The conversation continued and the representative ended the conversation, "ok sir have a nice day."

After reading your review I retrieved our record of your service call. We were contacted by you in August of 2012 because your air conditioner stopped working. We responded very quickly, explained that there would be a diagnostic fee, and had a service technician at your home within an hour of your request. The technician diagnosed the problem, and provided you a quote for repair. You authorized the repair which was performed immediately. After the technician made the repair, performed a full diagnostic evaluation of your air conditioning system, and presented you the bill. You then questioned the pricing. In an effort to show our willingness to compromise the service tech responded by reducing the bill by $50.00 as a courtesy discount. You accepted the reduced bill and paid. Two and a half years later you write a negetive review on AngiesList complaining about the price. Our office manager contacted you via phone today to discuss your review in an effort to find a way to satisfy you. Unfortunately, you were very rude and hung up on him. Our company policy is to respond to every complaint with a sincere desire to reach a resolve. But we can't resolve things with someone who is unreasonable, and rude. We feel that it is a bad policy of AngiesList to allow this type of review for several reasons: 1. This service was performed two and a half years ago. We haven't heard anything else from the customer until this review. Way too much time has lapsed to give any credibility to this customer. He even ommited the date of service from the review. AngiesList should ajust their policy, and conduct a fact finding method of justifying reviews. Especially when their is overwhelming proof from 170+ written customer reviews on an AngiesList members record. 2. When this customer questioned our pricing after the repair was performed we dicounted the repair price. The customer accepted the discount, and said he was satisfied. 3. The customers review is not an accurate portrayal of what happened. He stated that we came out for a free estimate then charged him for coming out. We never provide free estimates for repair work. We always charge a diagnostic fee to cover the cost in sending a service vehicle, and to pay a trained professional service techician to perform the dianostic evaluation. Our diagnostic rate is one of the lowest amoung our competitors in Northwest Ohio. Upon diagnosis the technition then provides the customer with an exact price for the repair needed to fix the problem. We use a common, flat rate pricing book that most of our competitors also use.This keeps our prices very comparable, and competitive. So, the comment in this customers review regarding our pricing is deceitful, and completely misleading. Our record speaks for itself. Obviously, we cant satisfy everyone all the time. We do treat everyone with professionalism, and respect. Our goal is always same. Provide excellent service at a competitive price. Excellent, neat and clean, efficient, prompt, and as it was a coupon special and I did not need emergency work he was able to schedule on my time frame. I asked about water heater and he took the time to check it out too. He did clean our WH boiler unit as well as inspect it. He aslo answered my questions about it.
Description of Work: Checked furnace and cleaned it. PLUS he checked water heater as it is 11+ years old.

Thank you for your report. We often give phone estimates and attempt to be as accurate as possible. We'd rather be a little higher and be able to do the job for less, then get to your home and tell you it's going to be a lot more. I guess you can't have all the great reports that we have by being the cheapest person in town. You often hear the horror stories from folks that went with the low bidder.
