Met with Mike about a month before service. He was very knowledgeable and gave several recommendations. I thought his quote was high at first as this was my first quote for a furnace so I checked around. Turns out after 6 different companies came in and quoted me his price ended up being one of the cheapest for the service you get. They have a ten year labor warranty and Rheem covers the furnace for ten years on parts. Also was lucky in that when I called him to come back out our Humidifier was free as they were currently running a special. Their technician Scott came out and installed the furnace in two days. When they were done everything was cleaned up and we had no problems. In October we used the heat for the first time to check it out and it worked great. We purchased the two stage furnace with a variable speed blower and you can barely tell it is on. In November we had a problem with the furnace as the house would not heat past 64 degrees. I called Mike and that afternoon he was out and fixed the issue. It was a manufacturer issue that he was made aware of the day before. Mike has been beyond great to work with and I can't say enough about the integrity of this company. My first electric and heating bill was cheaper with this furnace than my old 90% efficient furnace. I am a very satisfied customer.

Showed up on time and did a thorough check of the furnace and confirmed the shut off valve was not fully closed.

The other contractor contacted me within the hour and we setup an appointment for the next day. Simply from the conversation I had with Mike I would recommend Action Heating and Air Conditioning because of the way he treated me on the phone. He was very polite and even though I did not have a large job it seemed that Mike was intereted in helping me find a solution. He also seemed very trustworthy. Because I did not have them perform any work I cannot speak for their price or quality but from what the other reviews say I am sure they are fair and do a good job.
Description of Work: I contacted this company in order to get a quote on running a gas line out to my garage for a heater. I spoke with Mike and he said that while he couldn't fit me in for two weeks he would put me in touch with another contractor who he highly recommended and could perform the work.

He got back to us fast, came out within 2 days and was prompt and professional. After the inspection he spent some time going over everything and answering all our question. Everything was in good working order and he was very helpful and friendly. We were very satisfied and will have him again.

Great! showed up on time, spent quite a bit of time inspecting the furnace and the humidifier. Gave me some valuable information about problem codes. Will call Terry for any future HVAC work. We needed an annual service check for the furnace and I also had a question about a sound that I was hearing occasionally when the furnace starts up in the morning. I had recorded the sound to be able to show it to the technician, and my mind was put at-ease quickly when he said it wasn't anything to worry about. The check-up went smoothly and was completed in about 15 minutes. I appreciate the honesty of the people at Action -- they don't try to take advantage of a situation to sell you something that you don't really need. We've used them for two years now and they're the one we'll call for any future service.

We called to have a furnace clean/check and discuss why the air was not circulating well. Terry came very promptly in the morning, was friendly and courteous, and quickly identified the problem. He was professional and yet still had a good sense of humor about him. He even went above and beyond to give us tips for keeping a well-circulated and maintained system. I was very pleased with the service as well as the overall customer experience. I will definitely be calling again to work with Action in the future. :)

We used an Angie's List promotion coupon so we got a great price. Mike arrived within the appointment time and called about 20 minutes before to tell me he was on his way. He promptly got to work. We switched to Action after a bad experience at another house with our usual service company. We will be using them again after the first of the year to install some new ductwork. This is a tiny detail, but I was happy with the magnet we received. I put it on the furnace. Now we know who to call. The phone number is nice and large and easily read without glasses. Thanks, Mike.

When I called to make an appointment I spoke with a receptionist who took my information. My call was promptly returned by Mike Williams, one of the owners of the company. I did not have to wait long for an appointment even though they were extremely busy because of the upcoming heating season. Mike, himself, came to my home to perform the cleaning and inspection of my Trane XV90 furnace. He explained every detail of the cleaning and inspection and offered to answer any questions I might have. He was very courteous and friendly. I have never used this company for my furnace cleaning but will now switch to Action Heating for all of my future furnace and AC repairs and maintenance. This company is superior. If I could give them a higher rating than Excellent I would do it. I would not hesitate to recommend Action Heating and to my Family and friends.

Michael of Action and Heating was great. He was straight forward and was able to tell me exactly what was wrong with the unit and how a new furnace was going to be my best option. With the new furnace the house is now a comfortable 65 degrees and my electrical box was fixed as well. Action Heating is professional and through. If you ever have a problem with a service, they'll be sure to correct it right away. I'd recommend them to family and friends. They're awesome.
Description of Work: Action Heating/AC analyzed my furnace and was able to accurately diagnose the problem. My furnace had cracks in the lines and the previous electrician had not put in a dedicated line for the unit. He was able to replace the furnace and remove the old one, plus recommend a licensed and bonded electrician to fix the electrical problems in the house. (As well as create a dedicated electrical line to the new furnace.)

The man who came out was very nice & friendly. He called about 1/2 hour before arrival to make sure we were available. I truly appreciated that. After checking the furnace, he looked at & answered a question I had about the AC, even though it wasn't included in the service that I purchased. We will definitely use this company for any problems and maintenance we have with the heating or AC. Highly recommend!

Did an outstanding job on cleaning the furnace, showing me future problems, but no pressure, and very laid back. Very knowledgeable, and professional. Only charged me $39 more for the two parts, and I was blown away by their prices. Would have this company come back anytime. Excellent workmanship.

Action did an excellent job, and I would definitely recommend them! The serviceman was prompt and very professional, explaining to me before he began exactly what he was going to do and how much it would cost. The price was very reasonable, and they have a one-year guarantee: no service charge if the furnace needs work/repair within one year of the original service date.

Mike arrived at the time we had agreed on and was very pleasant, professional. He offered to tell me about my heating system and answered questions. This was a bonus; I wasn't expecting that. It was a good thing, too, as I need to change the way I do some things. He seemed efficient and knowledgeable. I should add that the price I paid was a special offer by Action Heating on Angie's List. I think I paid $50, and that would not be the usual price anywhere.

It was wonderful! Mike was very prompt, efficient, very knowledgeable, and friendly. He did a great job with the furnace, we spoke about the age of the furnace, what is needed in the near future, and the cost of replacement, which to me seemed like a reasonable price. I would certainly use them again for any furnace and air conditioning needs.

I was excited to work with these guys because of all the great Angie's List reviews, additionally the person I spoke with on the phone to schedule an appointment seemed genuinely excited to be in the business and told me how it's family-run and the take pride in getting good reviews on here. The guy (not sure who it was) was incredibly prompt (HUGE plus in my book, since they do give you like a 3 hour 'window' they might come out)...but unfortunately that's kind of where it ended. I let him in, showed him I had everything turned off, so we turned it all back on and kicked up the heater. He quickly found the problem (around 5 minutes I'd say...maybe less), and he discussed with me how much it would be. Unfortunately, I wasn't expecting it to be so high, and when I suggested that I might just fix it myself his attitude went completely sour (though it wasn't what I'd label bubbly to begin with he had at least been courteous up until that point)...I said I needed to speak with my husband since it was such a large portion of money, and he said that was fine, but looked pretty upset and kept giving me kind of, 'it's yes or no, I have other places to be' attitude. I spoke with my husband briefly, then called my dad to see how much it was going to be for us to repair it versus them (I'm on a VERY limited budget, and the money I do have set aside is to pay our property taxes in January, and I really wasn't prepared to wipe all of that out). Somewhere in this mix it came up the fact I was never told there was a charge to come out and "diagnose" the problem, the guy said he assumed I knew because I was from Angie's List (mind you, the only thing I really looked at on Angie's List were the reviews because I didn't want to get scammed again...see my previous reviews for THAT story). No, I didn't know, and I apologize, but I do feel that it's the job of the COMPANY I'm hiring not to assume (<---the word HE used) I knew and that I've done this before (I'm 30, this is my first house...it's not like I do heating and cooling for a living otherwise I wouldn't have called) and let me know if there's going to be a charge for coming out, he got all defensive and asked, "well, did you just expect us to come out for free". I can answer you now that I'm not trying to talk on the phone and deal with my emotions: yes, yes I did...because all the other people I've dealt with for my house/car the 'diagnostic' portion has always been free. Now, he did end up waving it because (this is a quote) "I don't want a bad review on Angie's List". You know, it's awesome this company IS worried about bad reviews, and awesome they came out so quickly...but this guy's attitude and how QUICKLY it became sour was enough to completely turn me off from them. Use a little human decency and REALIZE that almost $500 is someone's paycheck sometimes...and standing there saying "well, it's a yes or no answer" and really digging into me and acting like I'm completely wasting YOUR time because I want a couple minutes to decide whether I can AND want to spend that kind of money. I can say with 100% certainty if his attitude wouldn't have flipped so quickly and remained VERY curt after suggesting I might want to fix it myself....if they had worked on their customer service and talked with me not DOWN to me I absolutely would have bought their services. You are supposed to be able to deal with your customers (s***, even pursued your customers), have some understanding, and be nice to them...not act like they're wasting your time because they are hesitant to drop $500.

I’m sorry to hear your having financial difficulties and understand that can be a burden when unexpected repairs come along life’s highway. I also apologize that there seemed to be some confusion regarding a service call fee. We always make that clear up front to our clients to avoid misunderstandings. Currently we a running a special through Angie’s List called “The Big Deal” it is a special that we offer to AL customers for a service check for 49.00 this is prepaid through AL. When Mike talked to you on the phone he inadvertently believed that you were a Big Deal customer hence no discussion of a service charge. When I arrived at your home I asked you about the Big Deal and you indicated that you had simply called because of our reports on AL and had not prepaid and I explained that there would be a 69.95 service/diagnostic fee which you understood you would have to pay. You initially indicated to me that you may want to do the repair yourself depending on how difficult it would be. I often encounter consumers that opt to make repairs on their equipment. It took me approximately 2 minutes to determine the inducer motor was not operating and would need to be replaced and I gave you a quote of 425 dollars which would include the part the installation 5 year warranty and the service call. You told me that you were going to discuss it with your husband and asked me how difficult of a repair this would be and could you find the part locally. I told you that depends on your level of confidence to deal with the removal of the inducer and the venting system it is connected to. I also advised you I had the part on the truck. I waited several minutes and went out to my vehicle and checked to assure I had the part, I saw you come outside talking on the phone and go back in. I came in and asked you what you wanted to do regarding the repair. You told me your funds were limited and wanted to call your dad. I heard you in the other room seeming to have a stressful conversation with your dad, while you may not realize it I had been at your home for approximately 20 minutes and you hadn’t made a decision regarding the repair. I walked into your kitchen from the utility room and asked you again what you wanted to do. You said you were trying to decide of you and your dad could make the repair. I then went back into the utility room and removed the inducer and the vent pipe from the furnace. I heard you yell to someone that they needed to deal with this and you and your husband came into the utility room. I again asked you what you wanted to do. You told me your dad was coming over to look at the job and make a decision as too him being able to repair it. I showed you the bad part and allowed you to examine the part and showed you that the motor was tied up and had a bad bearing. I said it seems to me that you folks are going to make the repair yourselves and I would just collect the service call and leave. You started to cry and tell me how unfair it was since you hadn’t been told on the phone that there was a service charge. I did respond “did you think we came out for free.” This seemed to make you cry harder I said that we didn’t want a bad Angie’s List report over a misunderstanding over a service charge and told you that you didn’t owe us anything. I asked you if you wanted me to reassemble the furnace and you told me no. Once in my vehicle I logged into my GPS and it indicated I had spent 32 minutes at your home. I truly believe you didn’t realize how long you kept me waiting due the stress of this repair. I know of no HVAC company in the Toledo area that doesn’t charge a service charge. We have a huge volume of calls every day and need to be efficient in the use of our time. To think that we can drive out to your home and accurately diagnose the problem and not be paid is unheard of in our industry. He came to my house at 7:00 this morning to complete the furnace tune-up. He looked at my furnace and immediately said he couldn't complete the work, as they don't work on that type of furnace. As my furnace is a well-known brand (Lennox), I was surprised by it. Unfortunately, nobody asked me for my type of furnace when I arranged for the service.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Action Heating & Air Conditioning & Electrical.

Your kind of distorting the facts, I told you we didn't service that model of Lennox, due to the fact it was a Lennox Pulse. There are very few of these furnace left out there in the marketplace. They require special tools and a yearly check needs to be performed on the heat exchanger as Lennox had failure issues. You also gave us all D's how is that fair? I was on time, I was professional, the price was good that's why you purchased the check, I told you we would refund your money, I referred you to another Angieslist company that could perform the necessary check. It's the only furnace we don't service, I'm sorry for that. Sorry we let you down. Terry Williams......

Terry Williams arrived promptly. He was very personable and provided comedy along with excellent service. He fixed the issue pretty quickly, and explained what needed to be done if there was a repeat of the same problem, so I didn't have to call a repair man next time. I really appreciated that. When have you ever had a repair man 'SHOW YOU' what to do so you don't have to call them out next time? Because the furnace filter is in an inconvenient spot on the furnace, I asked him if he'd change the filter out for me, which I knew needed to be done. He very kindly took care of that for me. To sum it all up... Action Heating, Air Conditioning and Electrical is A #1 in my book and I would not hesitate to call them again!
Description of Work: Found that a part wasn't working properly due to dirt in it, and cleaned it out.

Called me shortly after I had called company, set up a time and date that was convenient for me, stated he would call again on the day of the service and told me he was on his way and the time he expected to be here. He arrived at that time. Was very professional in his presentation. Prior to leaving he explained to me what he had done, asked if I would permit him to place a printed form on the furnace that would show when he was here and what he had done. He also explained to me his warrant which was if anything went wrong with the furnace in the next year he would come back and correct the problem at no cost to me. He left a magnet with me that had his phone number and furnace "Efficiency Tips". I could not have been more satisfied with the total exposure to this company.
Description of Work: Cleaned flame sensor, furnace burners, inspected safety devices, inspected controls, examined the operation of the furnace and rated the performance as good.

Very well. Michael and Scott were informative, courteous and efficient - they called ahead so I knew exactly when to expect them and they did the job quickly and without any disruption. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.
