It was a little bit hard scheduling the appointment at first, but that was because several jobs he had been working on grew and he needed to accommodate that. Once we had it scheduled, though, he was fantastic. Showed up on time, took care of everything we needed (and then some) with time to spare, was very nice and cleaned up after himself. I'm interested in repairing some of the walls in our basement and will be following up with him to get an estimate on that. Would definitely use him again for other house projects should they arise.

We bought a Big Deal for 8 hours of general contractor work, and communicated entirely by email. Our house was built in the late 1920s, so the space for the refrigerator was small. We wanted to install a bigger one, so we needed to have the cabinets cut down, and we decided to replace the stove hood with a built-in microwave to update the kitchen and give us more counter space. I sent Matt a picture of the existing configuration, and he said that they should be able to do what we wanted. They came on the appointed day, but old houses being what they are, it took longer than Matt had originally thought--but that was fine with us, since we got exactly what we wanted. An added wrinkle was that our cabinets are faux finished. I did the work myself close to 20 years ago, and I no longer have the technique or the paints to redo everything. Matt and Paul worked carefully to preserve as much of the finish as possible. The results are impressive. After we get the new fridge, we'll have them make us some new cabinets to install above the fridge, making use of some newfound extra space.

Matt Severns contacted me to determine what type of work I needed, and then stayed in touch until he was able to schedule a day to come out and perform the work. I had several LED recessed lights installed in my kitchen, and they look great! Matt does quality work. He is professional and communicates promptly, which I really appreciate. I would use Severns Construction again.

I bought a Angies List Deal for a Contractor for the Day. I have been slowly remodeling my first house since I bought it this past spring. Its been a fun experience but stressful at times. I needed an extra hand to help me with some projects, so I jumped on the chance for this deal. Matt was VERY knowledgeable and a joy to have in my house. I had a lot of questions and he was open to teaching and showing me the tricks of the trade for my future projects. We had a lot of good conversations about our families, hobbies, and the remodeling processes involved with what he does on a daily basis. I was impressed with the way he made simple work of the things that were stressing me out! Matt installed a few base cabinets, making sure they were level, and one upper cabinet that needed vent holes for the microwave cut. He then helped me with the main kitchen countertop by measuring and cutting it down. He had to do some extra shaping of the top due to a bowed wall. It fits perfectly. He also installed a new bathroom door that I was going to install. He installed it in a 1/4 of the time it would of taken me! Matt plans on coming back to install another door once I get it and to cut another counter top. I wish I would of met Matt months ago. Hes professional, knowledgeable and really seemed interested in my house and the projects that I have going on. He appreciated the fact that im attempting a lot of it myself. It made me feel good that someone with his talents felt this way. I will absolutely recommend Severns Construction LLC and plan on using them again in the future!

Severns Construction is a full-service contracting firm, owned and operated by Matt Severns. I have contracted them before to do some wallpaper removal, wall repair, prepping and interior painting, and was happy with the work, so I contacted Matt for an estimate on my roof. Matt handled the job professionally from beginning to end. His company took care of all details, including: Inspection of roof and skylights Providing written estimate of costs Purchasing and delivering materials needed Renting bin for disposal of old roof Stripping existing shingles Repairing water damage to roof Installing ice guard Installing new shingles Removing old skylights and installing new ones (2) All clean-up The job was completed over a week, and would have been finished sooner except for some interruption due to heavy rain. Matt made it a priority to get the job done before the holidays. His crew was prompt and professional. I was impressed that they cleaned up every day, instead of waiting until the job was complete to begin cleaning up and hauling away trash. Matt kept me apprised of progress throughout the project -- for instance, when he uncovered unanticipated issues, caused by poor work of previous contractors who installed an extension over an existing roof, he informed of the problem, suggested a solution and did the repairs for no extra cost. His rates are fair, and his work is excellent. I recommend him and his company without hesitation.

I can't say enough good things about Matt! He was patient with my tenants and responsive to their questions. He is honest, more then reliable and extremely professional. I am afraid of referring him cause when I need him he will be too busy taking care of others. So in summary I HIGHLY recommend Severns Construction.

As I stated above I initially hired another contractor and failed to read reviews on Angie's list prior. This other contractor who I paid thousands upon thousands of dollars to and kept raising the pricing on me so much that I could not afford to finish the job with the old contractor also screwed up pretty much all the work he actually did perform. That is when I joined Angie's list to find another good and fair priced contractor. I searched by zip code and the first one that came up was Severns Construction. I called and talked to Matt the owner and explained that I hired another contractor paid him a lot of money and that the old contractor kept raising his prices in the middle of the job so much that I could not afford to continue with the project. The kicker is that the remodel was on my one and only functioning bathroom and the situation has left me with no bathroom in my home which I explained to Matt. You may be asking yourself why I am giving you that background story on the old contractor leading up to my business with this current contractor to which the review is about Severans Construction and this is why. Matt came out to my home as I stated looked at the horrible job that I was looking to hire someone to correct and finish. I explained I dumped pretty much all my money into this other contractor that really took advantage of me and was looking for a good price to get a working bathroom. Matt gave me a great price to finish the bathroom and he showed compassion and empathy for the situation. Being I was without any bathroom in my home Matt immediately started the project to which I was very thankful for. As I stated before the other contractor walked off the job half way through it so I am sure it is harder to finish someone else's work and to know what they did and if they did it right. Matt unfortunately ran into several underlining issues as a result of the negligence and horrible work of the other contractor and I don't think Matt knew what he was getting into no contractor could. Even know Matt had to correct several issues some of them hazards he stuck to his contracted price, he never asked for more money or tried to raise the price... now that is a great contractor. I unfortunately could not be at my home all the time while he was completing the project but I felt like I could trust him in my home when I was not there and sure enough this proved to be true. He completed the project in a timely fashion, cleaned up after himself and kept me informed throughout the day with text messages and pictures when I could not be there. Matt and his worker were both very professional, knowledgeable, polite and most importantly they showed compassion for what happened to me by the other contractor. Something else that surprised me even know Matt knew I was taken advantage of by the other contractor he never talked bad about them, their work he simply pointed out the facts and showed me the stuff that needed to be corrected and remained very professional. He was always available to answer questions even later in the evening to which Is when I was only available to talk. I can't say enough good things about Severns Construction and Matt. I feel very blessed that I was able to find a good honest contractor that really cared and was able to really help me out in a bad situation. They did a great job I mean it's perfect and if you saw the mess and problems of this project that they walked in to from the other contractor and you see the finished project it's crazy that they were able to pull this job off and get it perfect. I would highly recommend Severens construction to you. They didn't just do the job they made me a beautiful bathroom. Like I said it's perfect and their pricing is great.

While we did not select him for services he was awesome to work with, his prices were fair, and he was easy to reach and communicate with.

Awesome! Matt was great to work with on the estimate and quote process. We are still in the midst of construction and renovation, but the entire team at Severns Construction was highly instrumental in taking our vision and turning it into a funded loan.
