D & L Heating & Cooling

Bill was very friendly and explained a lot to me. I called him yesterday and he was at my door by 9 am this morning! He also told me that he will come back in June to check the unit free of charge. In addition to the services that he performed, he offered advice on changes that will benefit our home (and gas bill) in the future.

This is the kind of service call that I wish all would be but unfortunately they aren't. Josh took the time to find out what really was wrong and do an appropriate repair. He arrived when expected, worked steadily, and answered all my questions. He also gave me advice about any future replacement.

The people from D&L Heating & Cooling Co. seemed very down to earth. They were nice. They were professional. They did a good job. They were reasonably priced. I would use their services in the future.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I called D&L last summer to get a quote on replacing the old AC unit. Bill came out and offered me what I felt was a fair price of 2500 for a 13 SEER, 2.5 ton AC unit by Rheem. He maintained that price when I called back a few weeks ago. After making the arrangements, Nathan came to look at the old AC and see how things were hooked up. We had a great time talking. He was very informative and pleasant. He even went out of his way to tell me how to use my humidifier and electronic thermostat that was installed by another company. Nate gave me a hard time for not changing my air filter too--it was all in good fun, we laughed a lot--but he did let me know how important it is to keep it clean. :-) Afterwards, we made arrangements for the installation of the new AC and I paid for half of the cost up front. Everybody with D&L has been super friendly and gone beyond the call of duty. Nathan and Josh had both smelled gas by my meter when they came in and mentioned it to me. I told them that I'd had the gas company come out several times to check it, but they always said that it was nothing. Not convinced, Josh checked for leaks. He'd showed me where he had sprayed soapy water and explained that the soap would bubble and make "Santa's beard" if there had been a leak. He went on to say that he's convinced there is a leak in the pipe somewhere in the pipe that leads up to the meter. I was very impressed at the fact that he was willing to take the time to do this and to explain his thoughts. Its obvious to me that Josh cares about what he does and his clients. Today, Josh and Nathan came out and installed my new AC and removed the old unit. Everything looks nice and tidy. Since it is cold out today, they said that they'll come by again to check everything again when the temperatures warm up. So I'll be seeing them again in a couple of weeks, and I look forward to it. In conclusion, if I ever need work done on any of my HVAC stuff again, D&L will be the company that I call--and I will recommend them highly. They don't try to sell you things that you don't need. They give a fair, justifiable price for their work and equipment. And, most importantly, they clearly care. They took great care of me. Thanks guys!

Very nice service person and I called them on Monday and they came out on Tuesday. Thank you very much. I am going to be using them again for my air conditioner this spring.

They were knowledgeable and did a good job through the whole process.

His profile states that there are no travel charges. He lists, FRANKLIN, DELAWARE, LICKING, FAIRFIELD, PICKAWAY, KNOX, & MORROW COUNTIES as his service area. When I spoke with Josh, he was rude and stated they would charge for the travel and that, "there is nothing free in the world". I found this extremely rude. I was not trying to get anything for free, but simply understand why he was telling me something different then what they have on there AL profile.

I called on the weekend, and they came first thing Monday morning. The gentelman that came out was very relaxed, thoughtful and looked at the entire system. I could not ask for anything more. The price was very good.

They were very prompt and did a nice job. They said they would be here between 10 and 11 and Josh arrived at 10:15. They were very courteous and made suggestions as to someone else that we could call when we need to have the furnace cleaned. We were very pleased with the young man - A+.

I found them on Angie's List. This time they didn't charge me. I've used them before and I was not impressed with their professionalism even though I believe they knew what they were doing. I asked them for the detail of what they did and they did not want to give it to me. I think they are on the high side for pricing.

Had a problem with the air conditioning and heat having a mildew smell. Bill came out to look at the heating and cooling system. He sprayed some solution on the ac coils and also did some work on the compressor outside. Still had the problem of odor weeks later. Bill came back again and took out the coil and cleaned it. He did not charge for the second visit. Bill is a very nice guy and made 3 trips to my house and only charged once. I highly recommend him to anyone needing heating and ac work done in their home. He's the best of the many Angieslist service providers I've had at my home.

I received the confirmation code on Thursday October 28th. I called to schedule an appointment with them on Monday November 8th. I never heard back from them so I called again on Thursday November 11th. At that point in time a gentleman answered the phone, just saying "Hello", not identifying a business or anything. I confirmed that it was D&L and he told me he was out of the office. I told him that I had purchased the Big Deal and that I would like to schedule the winter furnace clean and check that I purchased. He said the earliest they could get to me would be the following week. I am available on Mondays and Fridays, they couldn't come on Monday so we decided to schedule for Friday November 19th at 10:00 AM. He said that he would have someone from the office call me back to get my address and confirm the appointment. It is now November 17th and I haven't heard a word from them. I have decided to cancel the Big Deal because they haven't been responsive or professional and are not someone who I wish to do business with.

The workman was punctual and professional. The rate was also very reasonable.

Bill was able to have the work done very quickly. I had numerous questions for him on the furnace and air conditioner and doing additional ductwork in the basement to vent the furnace outside of the house and he answered all of my questions. On Monday, I called him and told him I was going to have the work done by him for the furnace AND air conditioner and on Wednesday his crew showed up at 8:30am to begin work!! They finished by 2:30pm that day and everything has been running great. His crew was surprised at how old (and large) my furnace was and they said I would be seeing a difference in the gas bill by installing the high efficiency furnace - plus, it qualifies for the $1500 energy credit!!

This was a great experience! I left a message for Bill on Monday afternoon. He called back and scheduled the appointment for between 10 - 11 Tuesday morning. He called to say he was on his way and arrived a little before 10. We discussed the problem and he checked the temperature output of our furnace as well as how our heat pump was working. Bill explained everything he was doing as he went along. My husband and I explained that we'd like to nurse this furnace along as long as we can and Bill was very understanding of that - NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES! He told us the cost to replace just the furnace and said we wouldn't need to replace the heat pump since it was fairly new and still working just fine. I appreciate the fact that he didn't try to talk us into replacing both units. We decided to hold off on replacing the furnace to allow us to budget/save for a replacement. At the end of the service call I said I would run up and get my checkbook and he said there would be no charge - he just gave us an estimate! It was so refreshing to be treated fairly as a customer and we will definitely be calling D & L Heating when other problems arises with our heating and cooling as well as recommending them to friends and family!

Overall the experience was very good. We thought he was fair in his price and did a thorough job. We would definately hire him again.

The owner of D & L was recommended by a friend of mine. He was friendly, professional, punctual and easy to work with. He really seems to care about his customers. The job went smoothly and they did everything their promised.

Researched Angie's List and BBB for companies to fix my A/C. Found two that seemed reputable and decided to go with D&L Heating and Cooling. Called that morning and they were able to get here that same morning. First they noticed the coils were dirty on the backside of the A/C unit and suggested ways I could clean it myself. Found that the capacitor was bad and changed it for a new one. They were very helpful to explain to me how you can tell they are bad and why they go out. Checked the freon, which was okay. Also checked my furnace and suggested I use a different filter to increase the airflow throughout the house. They didn't leave until they noticed a 20 degree temp drop. They also warned me that it would take a while for the house to get back down to the right temperature, which was wise because I might have thought something was wrong - as it took till 11 pm that night! D&L did an good, honest job and I would hire them again. I have even referred them to friends because of my positive experience. While these should not sway anyone from choosing this company for a/c service needs, the only negatives I have are the price for the capacitor ($45) which was slightly high, which is why I gave a B for pricing. And, the hole in the ductwork tape that they punctured to check the temp - an easy fix even I can manage.

This past Sunday our AC went out. I didn't even have a chance to call anyone until about 2pm on Wednesday. I called another company first and was told that there was a $99 charge for coming out, parts and labor for the repair were additional. Unsatisfied with that I looked into other options. At that point I got on Angie's list and found D & L Heating and Cooling. I called and spoke to Bill around 2pm and after a quick conversation I found that they he was willing to come out later that evening. I had a few things to do first so I called back at 5pm. To make a long story short by 6:05pm Bill had left, my AC was fixed and my house had already cooled off by 2*!!!! He had everything he needed with him for my issue and was able to resolve it in no time at a cost that was much less then I would have been charged elsewhere. Bill was also a fantastic person to talk to, very friendly and outgoing. I felt more like I had a friend over fixing my issue then a repair company. I hope I don't have an issue with my heating or cooling system for a long time, but if I do I know exactly who I'm calling for help.

I called Bill on Saturday July 24th, but he already had the day booked with other clients. He asked me to call him the next day. On Sunday, I called and since it was raining, he asked me to call him when I saw the rain had let up since he would be working with electrical equipment. As soon as the rain let up, I called Bill again and he came within an hour and a half (after taking care of another client). Within 10 minutes, he had the air conditioner running again and even made some suggestions about how to best run the HVAC equipment in our home. His rate was reasonable.

Very good service, very professional, completed job in less than one day. Also did follow up to see that everything was working correctly.

The air conditioning unit in our basement started making loud noises, and the temperature inside our home started climbing. As it was 90+ degrees outside, we wanted the problem fixed as soon as possible. I was relieved when these folks showed up early the next morning, and impressed when they tried to fix the existing unit before recommending that we replace it. The part had to be ordered, but they came with the unit the following day and replaced the motor. The pressure in the system was checked and they stayed long enough to be sure everything was functioning properly. They also checked the freon levels and added more to the system.These guys know what they're doing and do it well.

Called Bill on 5/4/2010 to check my A/C as it was "freezing up". He came the next day, as he said he would, checked and confirmed the unit was low on charge. I had him service the unit, then I inquired about a new, high effecientcy system. He quoted a price that included an Energy Star rated furnance and A/C system. I also wanted an electronic air cleaner which he added. The amount of the original service call was deducted from the replacement order. The next day my wife and I okayed the buy and sceduled the installation for 5/12/2010. The crew was on time and even though it was a rainy, nasty day, the installation was smooth. They were very professional and curtious.

I called D & L when I got home from work and discovered that our furnace wasn't running- it was about 5:30. Josh was very friendly and apologized for not being able to come out that night- although I would have had to have paid overtime to anyone by that time of day anyhow so I decided to wait until the next day since it wasn't very cold. He came when promised the next day and found and fixed the problem right away. Since the entire furnace was dead, I was worried about how much it would cost to fix, but was pleasantly surprised at the cost. He seemed very honest and upfront. I believe this is a family business- father and son. I would definitely call them again without hesitation.
