Bill returned our call for service the same day. He was able to come out the next day. Bill arrived on time and did a wonderful job checking out the a/c and furance. He was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions on how to use our furance more efficiently. Will continue to use D& L Heating and Cooling in the future. Great Job!

When i contacted the provider he notified me that he had an appointment the following morning, so the provider was fairly responsive. He arrived on time and did a visual inspection of my unit. There was no cleaning or "tuning up" involved, but my system is fairly pristine and he didn't see any obvious issues, so it's possible he didn't feel it was necessary. I would say my overall experience was positive, but i was expecting a little more "hands-on" work based on the description of the coupon.

It was one of the more responsive contractors I have ever called. And their pricing was very reasonable. Would use them again.

I thought it was weird to have to call him several times to remind him of the appointment. He arrived and did the check, just not sure he checked 14 things. He needed to add freon, which of course was not included, but I'm not really sure what else he did. I don't notice my air conditioner running any less or being any cooler like he said it would do with adding more freon. He seemed trustworthy, so I would use him again.

D&L had exceptional prices on units, helped us picked the best combination that made sense for our home and completed the installation and removal in one day. Highly satisfied customer.

The service person arrived a little early to our house which was fine.Next, the AC system was checked and he gave me valuable informationabout my system.I thought the cost was reasonable and would like use D & L again in in the future.

Service is good. Called ahead of time and provided the service. Explained why capacitors go bad and replaced with new one.

Our a/c went out on the evening of 7/3 and we figured we would not find anyone to come out so close to the holiday, however when we called him he said he would come out the next day on the holiday (7/4). He called us first thing in the morning and said he would be out in about a half hour. He was. He quickly figured out what was wrong (it was our capacitor) and even checked our freon. He was polite, friendly and professional.

I read all the bad reviews first which I do not recommend anyone else doing the same. Dan is a nice, honest man and is trustworthy. I am a general contractor that has in house crews that are very capable of doing this work, but they are spread out all over the state.Too hot to wait on them so I took a shot with Dan and was very pleased. To compare with other companies in what they charge for the first 30 mins, and then every 15 mins after that... Dan is much cheaper. He had some bad reviews but I would say that some people just don't understand business. The man can't extend lower prices to customers if he had the overhead of a receptionist to take calls and customer info. Leaving him a message with your info gets the job done just as good. I would refer him to anyone and may even use them for some of my local projects. D & L Heating and Cooling is a great Bang for Buck solution.

Took approximately three months to locate the problem because we could not pinpoint the deficiency to provide enough information to the technician to identify the problem. Technician, Nathan, was very cooperative in service time and patience---did not charge extra for multiple visits.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal for $49.00 for an A/C Tune-up. I had to call 2 or 3 times to get a response. When I finally got to talk with the person, he asked me to call him back to leave a message on his cell phone to remind him of the details of the job. As a previous reviewer has said, I do not want to have to help someone else manage their schedule. He turned up on the day ans spent maybe 10 minutes total looking at the A/C unit outside. Everything seemed very cursory. I think I wasted my time and money. I will not use this company again.

The customer service was great. The owner Bill Dohn was great to work with. He worked around my schedule and the price was fair.

Checked the system, evaluated the house for AC size requirement. Gave estimate. Installed new system.

When our A/C unit stopped running, we were having trouble finding any service providers that could make it out to our house within a few days. When we called D&L, Bill offered to work a bit late and come to our house that same day, so we were happy to work with him. He was able to diagnose the problem (an electrical part related to the start mechanism) and make a temporary repair that same day so that we could stay cool. He then came back in two days after he obtained the necessary part and installed it at no extra change. Excellent work, very responsive, and a fair price....we would not hesitate to call D&L again.

My experience has always been that D&L Heating and Cooling deserves the high rating it has on Angie's List. I contacted them because of this and I have not been disappointed. Each time, they respond promptly, get the work done the first time and charge a very reasonable amount for the work they do. I have used them for the past five years and will continue to call on them for any heating and AC problems I have. There is no need to look elsewhere and there is no better heating and cooling service provider than D&L Heating and Cooling!

Everything works fine. Very good. They are very polite. When they say their coming they come, they clean up after themeselves and very nice to deal with.

I reached Bill Dohn on his cell phone at 8 AM this morning as he was on his way to a service call. He said he would come to our house after he finished that appointment. Less than 2 hours later he was at our house after phoning to say he was on his way. He completed the above noted work in less than a half hour. Bill sold us the Amana Heat Pump eight years ago, and his son installed it. They are both excellent, fair, honest, and do very good work, I highly recommend them.

My home cooling doesn't work nearly as well as my home heating, so I wanted it checked -- figured it probably needed freeon, or maybe that something was wrong with it. Unfortunately, as nice as Bill was, my experience wasn't great. First, he put me down on his schedule for the wrong day, which meant I took time off from work and sat at home to no avail. Called just before I left to go back to work in case he was on his way. I wasn't able to r/s for the next day (when he'd put me in his calendar) and he wasn't able to schedule at a time that was good for me over the weekend, so we had to go into the next week. He asked me to call him to remind him on the day for which we r/s. While I appreciate that he didn't want to make another mistake, I don't want to have to help someone else manage their schedule -- I have enough going on with my own! He told me my furnace filter, which was dirty and needed changed, wasn't bad (I think he expected it to be worse with pets in the house) -- but that was misleading, since it sounded like it didn't need to be changed when it did. He added some freeon to the A/C unit outside and said it was working properly but that I should dust it off sometime when it wasn't running. Finally, he told me that my built-in humidifier wasn't working on the furnace, partly b/c the water wasn't turned on to it (color me embarrassed) but also because there was a part missing. Since my home was a foreclosure, there was some sabotage, and because I know nothing about humidifiers, I asked him if he could get the part and fix it. He said yes, and the part would cost around $100, so he would find out about ordering it and get back to me. He never called me back. Which is good, because as it turns out, when I had a family member who better understands such things, there wasn't a single part missing. And the part that he'd written down as missing was pretty clearly there, and not easy to miss. Make your own conclusions. I have. And did I mention that my A/C unit is still not cooling my house well? I've cleaned the unit, not just dusting it off but washing it thoroughly. I've been playing with the ductwork in my basement to try to redirect air differently throughout the house, but I'm still a little frustrated that the unit just doesn't seem to work as well as it should.

I found D&L through Angie's List and echo many of the sentiments of previous reviews. D&L overall is prompt, friendly, courtesy, HONEST and reasonable. When I called I was initially taken-a-back because Bill's answer was kind of gruff, but I think that is due to the number is his person phone. This and arriving in his personal van instead of a work truck or some other vehicle marked with his company is the reason I gave a B for professionalism (Bill's work truck was in the shop, still a magnet or something marking his van as D&L would have been nice). Bill was very prompt returning my call but unfortunately I was doing work outside my house and didn't have my phone so he called back a few times and left very courteous, friendly messages. We eventually got together on when he could come out and to my surprise it was a day later, I had expected it to be a few days and since he was coming to check out why my AC was freezing up it was great that he was so available to come out and arrived when he said he would. Bill arrived and quickly went to work diagnosing the issue, the AC unit was short on Freon but Bills instrument was giving him funny reasons which I found out was because I had tried to fix the leaking on my own and done a little not so fruitful DIY on my furnace. I asked Bill how old he thought the furnace was as I could not find the actual date, he found it and advised me it was 20 year old. After adding the Freon, 3lbs, and getting correct readings. He tested the air to make sure it had dropped enough, it hadn't but it was about 4 degrees from where it should have been (actual was 17 should have been 21 degree drop between vent and ambient temp). I expressed that I was told I should just run the HVAC until it dies due to my 1 year home warranty but Bill advised against it because he said the insurance wouldn't cover it due to the furnace's age. And that is when he quotes me $4500 on a new HVAC system, which seemed real reasonable to me. I said I couldn't do it right now and since the heat was working fine as well as the AC (after adding Freon) that I'd just run it until it dies. He said he would do the same thing! I thought that was really odd since his business is HVAC and installing a new one would probably do well for his bottom line, but he was honest with me and sincere! After Bill was done he stayed around and talked for a minute with myself and my mother who was down to help me on some house maintenance. Bill was very personable and friendly. When my furnace does die, hopefully not soon, I will definitely be giving Bill and D&L a call to have the new one put in!

He showed up on the proper day, but a tad late. No problem for me though. He listened to my concerns, then tested the unit, and added some freon. He then went to our basement, inspected the mechanicals down there, and tested some air vents to make sure the proper amount of air and temp was being pushed by the unit. He showed us why the unit was so loud, it didn't have the proper base to sit on. The prior owner had it propped up on bricks. This wobblyness has caused damage to the unit. He mentioned the unit is getting a little long in the tooth, and might need replacing in the next few years. He gave us a quick ball park estimate, but didn't push a sale at all. I loved that part of it. We will definitely bring him back.

We decided to make the investment. D&L removed the old equipment and did an exceptionally professional job of installing a Rheem 95% efficient heating system and 13 SEER air conditioner, including a built in humidifier. This is a large investment and my wife and I are happy we made it, and happy D&L installed it - it is working great and is a quiet as they promised.

Bill was able to out the day I called him. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. Bill checked the Furnace/AC for the problem, clearly explained what needed to be done, and completed the job. I would definitely use D & L's service again as well as recommend D & L to others.

The two men who came over to the house we very professional and we felt very comfortable with them as they seemed trustworthy. They looked at our 20+ year old furnace and said we should probably get a new one based on the following: - The unit was too big for our house. - There were cracks that could have been leaking carbon monoxide - It was SUPER dirty and almost uncleanable (the people who lived here a couple years before us must have NEVER had it cleaned and must have had 100 cats). - A new, smaller unit would save us money on heating. It's been 4 months now, and we are happy with their work and the fact that we are breathing in clean air now (the dirt they pulled out of our old unit was shocking). ANOTHER PLUS is since they installed one area of bigger ductwork that lead to the top floor, we have been getting so much more airflow upstairs. It barely came out the vents in our top floor before, but now it's much better. One downfall, HOWEVER, has been that we have not seen any savings in our gas heating bill. It's about the same. But I would still use them in the future.
