Description of Work: I emailed my interest in an assessment of problems I am having with water in my basement. I received an automated response that asked that I call a cell number for a direct conversation. I called that cell phone number, left a voice mail message and received no call back from this company.

Response from Drytech Waterproofing
On Monday evening 6/15/15 we received a call from Angie's List that we had a message from a member. I had access to email so I was able to reply to the request for a basement assessment within an hour. This was a prompt response not an automated one. I notified the member that we would be unavailable on the requested dates of 6/22,23, & 24. I did not want to advertise that I would be out of town and my home would be vacant so I simply said I would be unavailable. I requested that the member call us TOMORROW 6/16/15 on our office line so we can set up an appointment and get additional information such as an address. In order to show up at a specific home for an appointment, we need more information than just a date and a city. We never received a call (checked our call log) and we were also not given a phone number to contact her. From 6/20 - 6/27 my brother and I volunteered a week of our vacation time at a Boy Scout camp in northern Michigan. In an effort to stay in contact while we were gone, our office line was forwarded to my brother's cell. Our phone system gives us a verifiable record of all forwarded calls. Unfortunately mobile service and internet access are very limited in the area but we checked voicemail and email whenever we had access. On Wednesday evening 6/24 my brother was able to check voicemail and finally had a message from this customer on 6/22/15. Nearly a week after we had requested a return call since we were not given a number to contact her. This call came in on a date that was clearly stated we would be unavailable. In this message we actually got a contact phone number but it was late so my brother called her on Thursday 6/25 when he had mobile service. He talked with her for nearly 4 minutes and again explained that we were unavailable but would contact her on Monday 6/29 to set up an appointment. Everything seemed alright. On Monday 6/29, as was agreed upon, and Tuesday 6/30 we called the provided phone number 4 times. The phone kept ringing and no answering machine was available. I finally went to the Angie's List message center to contact the customer to let her know we have been trying to contact her as we said we would and find out if she was still interested in an assessment of her basement problem. We finally got a response and she said they we no longer interested in our company. While in the message center I saw the first and only negative review of our company. Please note the dates of the review. It was clearly stated to her in the first email that we would be unavailable 6/24. Even if we had been in town, we would not have been able to find the house since we still only had a city and time/date. Had we been extended the same courtesy of a prompt response by receiving a call tomorrow ( 6/16/15 ) as requested rather than a week later when she knew we were unavailable, this customer would have received the same high level of service and communication that is shown in our 30+ Angie's List reviews. I have waited over a week to comment on this negative review in the hope that it would be retracted or amended once the customer reviewed the facts and checked her records as we did. Unfortunately it was not. Angie's list provides a great forum for individuals to comment on companies and services. However, individuals have a responsibility to be reasonable in their expectations and fair in their reviews. In this situation we feel that this is not the case. Thank you, Dan Gallagher Drytech Waterproofing

Description of Work: I had a leak into my basement from the base of the wall that was about 6 feet long. Drytech came out the first date that we had 3 dry days in succession. They dug away from the foundation about four feet on either side of the leak, repaired the cracks, put up insulating material, filled it all in with gravel and smoothed it over with dirt. They also put in a new window well. They worked quickly and efficiently and even gave me a 10% senior discount! It looks better outside than it ever has and hasn't leaked at all in a year. They also give a lifetime guarantee on their work.

Description of Work: Kevin came out to my house to originally give me a quote for waterproofing. After he listened to me explain my ongoing issues with water in my basement only during heavy heavy rains and the nature of how it comes into my basement, he suggested that before I go Any further that I should have my storm pipes looked at with a camera. He told me that it all sounded like I had a break or some kind of damage that was causing the water to just keep re-circulating back down to the foundation. And he even gave me the name of someone he thought could help me. Well, Kevin was right!! After having the camera guy out, sure enough there was a huge break in one of my pipes that was causing a huge amount of the water to come back down to my foundation instead of going out to the storm sewer. I can't tell you how happy I was to find out I didn't have to have my entire basement waterproofed! What an honest and genuine business! Definitely would recommend Drytech to anyone! Thanks again Kevin!

We had water coming into our basement. We called several providers who were unwilling to do job until this Spring and added another $1000 because it would need to be dug by hand. DryTech, however, came out as soon as weather permitted and sandwiched us in between other jobs. They explained exactly what they were going to do, had us come out at various points to look at it and finished in a day. Everything was cleaned up beautifully and the job is guaranteed for a lifetime. They made sure we knew that they were licensed and insured and were completely professional. We appreciate their quick response and suggestions for a short term solution before the snow let up and they could attack the job. We would recommend them to everyone who is need of basement waterproofing.
Description of Work: Dug down about 6-8 feet, fixed crack in the wall, applied sealant, filled in hole with gravel and topsoil, cleaned up debris.

We hired Drytech Waterproofing for a full excavation waterproofing on 3 sides of our house. One thing that help us contract Drytech was Danny and Kevin are the ones that perform the work and would be here everyday. I did come home everyday to check on the progress and they were always willing to give me an update, which was very comforting. They found a few issues with our original sump pump piping which was run and graded incorrectly by the previous homeowners. As soon as they noticed this they brought it to our attention and corrected the issue. Before we got the waterproofing done our sump pump ran constantly but with correction, now it runs more effective and efficient. I most say that with all the digging that was done and after it was all completed, we can barely notice we had this type of work done. They did not leave anything that we needed to clean up after and I would definitely recommend them.

With all the necessary work they had to perform, they did it in the highest professional style. Work was completed in a timely manner. I would hire Dry Tech again. I feel I got my money's worth. Hiring them from Angie's List was the right call.
Description of Work: Our problem was huge. Not only did we have a steady stream of water coming into our basement, the foundation needed replacement. After receiving four estimates, we chose Dry Tech because of price and confidence in their ability to do it right. Dan and Kevin Galagher were great to work with. * Replaced 74 feet of cement block. * Waterproofed 118 feet of wall. * All drain tiles replaced with gravel and plastic pipe.

Drytech Waterproofing was prompt to return our phone call, came and offered an estimate. They were on time for the scheduled day, worked diligently until the job was complete. The french drain is attractive and even offers an entry point to the tile so that in the event there is a clog, it can be removed with a snake tool - something we hadn't thought of to ask about. The soil being cut & replaced was expertly measured in a straight shot to the property tile. I wish we hadn't had to have this done in the month of June because the replaced sod did require much water to keep it healthy until it grew back into the surrounding sod. This was a HOT summer so it took alot of attention. We had no choice, though, because our house was on the market and this yard seepage was an important issue to address. If someone could wait until the Fall season that may be better.
Description of Work: Drytech Waterproofing installed a french drain which included a drain tile beneath the soil, cutting across to the property's 3" tile which eventually connects to the public sewer system. They replaced the sod on top of the drain. They then caulked the gap between the garage and the sidewalk with a product that would keep any water from seeping into the garage, while being flexable enough for hot or cold temperatures.

We contacted DryTech, and they came very promptly to give us an estimate. Dan's explanation of the work to be done was much more concise and easy to understand than some of the other vendors. We had to alter the schedule a few times due to OUR scheduling issues, and they were very flexible. On the day of the job, they made a point of showing us what they were doing at key points along the way. Cleanup was excellent - after they were done you could hardly tell they had been here. Both Dan and his brother were extremely professional, courteous and straightforward throughout the whole process.
Description of Work: Repair two cracks in foundation/basement walls. Priolr to the repairs, one crack was leaking on a regular basis, the other one had leaked sporadically.

The job went very, very well. I was nervous about what they would find, and between the big wall crack and none of my drain tiles working, I was very happy they had a simple solution for everything, and reasonably priced solutions as well. I had to have additional work--a crack repair, new window wells, and drain pipe installed to route my foundation water to my pond--luckily not far from my house. They hand dug the trenching away from the house so it would not disturb my lawn as much as it would have with the backhoe, and they were respectful of my property in general--careful not to disturb plantings. lawn, retaining walls-- they even dug up a couple bushes and hostas for me and saved rocks for my garden. And they were even careful about the wild critters around the house. They didn't take heavy equipment over areas that were soft and used plywood under the backhoe when it was on the grass. Despite having a magnificent, huge spruce near one corner of my house, they got through the tree roots up against the retaining wall and the wall of my house, and I didn't lose my tree (other companies told me I'd have to remove it). They cleaned up the site every evening, and at the end of the job the entire site was neat. Every morning when they arrived, Dan would walk me around the house, explaining everything and making sure all my questions were answered. Dan is observant, knowledgeable, and very easy to talk to. I was given different options for the wall repair and new trenching, with different prices. I chose what I felt was best for the long run. Kevin and Dan were so accommodating to my wishes---moving my garden top soil to one side, for example, and putting it back on top when regrading. I also needed to get cinders they found around the drain tiles moved from the back of the house to fill the top of the trench at the front of the house (where I wasn't gardening, which was what was suggested when I called the EPA about the cinders). It was a long haul before they got to my job because basement waterproofing is weather dependent, and then you don't really know how long a job will be as it depends on the problems you find. The weather last year was terrible, and it took until this year for them to get to it, but they came when they said they would, and kept at it until they were finished. And----their estimate was half the price of what I was quoted by other basement waterproofers!!! It was well worth the wait, and I really liked these guys.
Description of Work: Front and back of my house were trenched, as well as around two corners of the house. Drain tiles replaced with pipe, gravel filled, and a large crack and an old knocked out corner chunk were repaired on the walls. All walls were waterproofed with a coating and a roofing rubberized sheeting, and window wells replaced. Additional trenching from both the front and back wall was required to create a Y-shaped drain outlet into my pond because all drain tiles were found to be either broken, not connected to any viable outlet, or filled with roots. Soil was graded to keep water away from house,.

My wife and I moved into our house over a year ago, and ever since then our basement had numerous areas that would slowly leak water after every storm during this terrible year of rain. I interviewed several perspective companies for this waterproofing project, and only Dan Gallagher proposed a solution for every basement trouble spot. In hindsight, had I used any of the other companies, we would have spent more money and one of the troublesome areas would still leak water. There was an area in the basement behind the garage that showed water damage, and Dan Gallagher proposed breaking through the concrete floor of the garage and fix it directly. No other company suggested this, probably due to the difficulty of having to break up concrete, dig by hand, and re-pour concrete. The other companies said waterproofing the rest of the house would resolve this problem area. I was a little hesitant about cutting up my garage floor, but I am glad Drytech did it because this area would not have gotten fixed any other way. As for the rest of the house, I was also very pleased. I received daily updates on their progress. The job took 20 days to complete, but there were a few days that work could not be done due to weather (rain) and holidays (Thanksgiving). It was only a two-man crew, so Dan and Kevin had to work very hard through very cold conditions. They cleaned up very well, and they protected most of the grass with plywood. The reason I gave a "B" for responsiveness and punctuality is due to the fact that we signed the contract on July 15, 2011, but they did not start until November 18, 2011. This was frustrating because the proposed "breaking ground" date kept getting pushed back (when we signed the contract, we were told to expect them to start at the beginning of October). After talking with Dan and Kevin, it was understandable because all the rain this year prevents them from working some days and they had some helpers leave for other jobs. I am just thankful that they finished before the snow started this year. Drytech was well worth the wait! Our house has only been waterproofed for less than a month, so only time will tell if all the problem spots have been fixed. I will update this post if there are any issues.
Description of Work: Dan and Kevin Gallagher waterproofed our one-story ranch house (with a walk-out basement) with a full excavation to the footer around the entire perimeter of the house. When Drytech waterproofed our walls, it included the following: 1.) They carefully inspected the walls for any cracks. When cracks were found, they fixed and sealed them properly (I believe they did this with a polyurethane crack filler). 2.) They replaced the old, corrugated footer drains with modern, HDPE, 2-hole perforated, triple-wall drain tile pipe. 3.) They re-tarred the wall. 4.) They wrapped the walls with Ice Guard (normally used for moisture barriers for roofs). 5.) They backfilled the excavated sites with bank wash gravel. (We personally chose wash gravel instead of limestone. They usually use limestone. We paid $4.00 more per ton compared to the limestone.) 6.) They backfilled the top 12 inches with soil from the excavation. They waterproofed 120 linear feet around the house, which included 11 feet of the interior of the garage (meaning they had to break up part of the concrete floor of the garage, excavate down to the footer, waterproof the wall, backfill with gravel, and re-pour part of the garage floor). Two sets of clean-outs were installed around the house, and the new footer drains dump into the creek behind our house. Dan and Kevin had to hand dig the 11 foot garage section, as well as under the deck. Everywhere else they were able to utilize the small excavator. Drytech guarantees their work with a lifetime warranty, but I guess that is only as good as long as Drytech stays in business. Based on our experience, they should be around for a long time. They provided top-quality work for a great price.

Overall, when Kevin called us and told us he would start, it of course poured rain, so we had to wait for a week for the ground to dry out. They did get a lot done on the sunny days, but when it rained, we just had to wait. It's been a rainy year!!!! But we were patient and it sure paid off in the end! I can now use my basement and it's dry!!!! Well worth the wait and I am extremely happy with the results!
Description of Work: Kevin came and gave us an estimate and we loved his professionalism and friendly face. Poor guy, he was so busy this past summer and the weather didn't cooperate! He finally got to us and waterproofed the basement. He explained everything to us before hand and he let us know where he was each day and what he did. They dug a trench around the house and put the waterproofing seal on the basement walls outside. Then they filled with gravel and dirt. I very much simplified the process, I think you have to go through it to know!

I called back in early June (I think) for an estimate and they came out the next day. Kevin was very nice and informative during the walk through of what my issue was with my basement. With all the rain we were having in the Spring they couldn't fit me in till August though. Kevin called the last week of July to let me know that they were planning to do my waterproofing the following week. This would have to be my only gripe about the whole process, that they only left me a weeks notice to make arrangement to be out of work for this time. The section of the house I was having worked on was very close to my neighbors driveway so I asked to have the foundation dug out by hand instead of having any heavy equipment brought in. Which they did for only a small up charge. They were as neat as could be when you're dealing with dirt. They were there on time and finished the job in the time estimated. Overall I am pleased with the work that was done.
Description of Work: I had a small portion of my foundation waterproofed.

We located Dan's company, Drytech Waterproofing from Strongsville, OH, on Angie's List, based on his company's good reviews there as well as its proximity to our location. Even though Dan recognized that he would likely not get business from us other than an inspection, as we explained the situation and noted that we were moving out of state, he offered to fit us in the very next day despite a full work schedule, as we were coming up on our closing date. Dan showed up on time and was very thorough and professional in his inspection. He was familiar with the construction practices of our builder from a dozen years ago, when the house was built, and was able to provide an assessment and detailed write-up based on observation and measurements. He noted that the efflorescence was possibly due to prior car-washing in the garage in previous seasons, and in fact, that had been the case. (The first company had also arrived at an identical hypothesis a year ago.) We had since ensured that we didn't do that anymore, and the problem had ceased. Dan confirmed that the wall was dry, and that the problem was only cosmetic and historical. He also noted that he had seen the exact same symptoms and cause at another home built by the same builder. Dan's experienced eye and knowledge of local building practices and construction history re-assured the buyer that the basement was in fact ok. What struck me most about Dan's responsiveness was how he treated us as a serious customer even though he knew he would possibly not get a major job or repeat business from us. We would certainly recommend Dan and Drytech Waterproofing to our friends and family who still live in Northeast Ohio wholeheartedly and without a moment's hesitation.
Description of Work: Dan Gallagher came out to our house to provide a second opinion concerning efflorescence on our basement wall. We were selling our house, and the buyer was concerned that they might be purchasing a waterproofing problem. Another reputable basement waterproofing company had already appraised the situation a year earlier and determined the efflorescence was likely due to a one-time set of circumstances and was not structural, but the buyer wanted a second opinion from another firm.

The job took a little over a week to complete. Dan and Kevin were always on time, professional, and polite. If I had any questions they took the time to answer them. They were always open to suggestions and very friendly. I was very happy on how the job turned out. They protected the yard with plywood and cleaned everything up. Other than some matted grass from the plywood you cannot tell they were here. I am very happy with their services and would not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Drytech waterproofed my basement. They waterproofed 3 walls which was around 85 linear feet. They installed new footer drains and made sure I had proper drainage. They repaired all outside and inside cracks. Then they covered the outside wall with a tar like substance and used a rubber membrane over that for added protection. To give the wall added strength they installed 6 concrete cores with rebar in the areas that were cracked. They back filled with stone within one foot of grade, placed filter fabric ontop of the stone and then topped off with topsoil.

The overall process met all of our expectations very well. Drytech was courteous and thorough in explaining their procedures and quotation. They started and finished all work within a reasonable timeframe. Throughout the process they maintained a safe work site by shoring all open trenches and covering the open trenches before quitting for the evening. While excavating a foundation is major work, they took extra steps to minimize damage to the lawn and even succeeded in preserving an older rhododendron that is growing near the house. We feel we received a high quality job as well as respectful and considerate treatment. I will readily hire Drytech for any future work.
Description of Work: Our basement was waterproofed from the outside. This included digging up the entire foundation, replacing footer drain pipes and downspout drains, coating the foundation walls with waterproofing paint, applying two additional layers of waterproofing material, backfilling with gravel, and covering the gravel with a layer of topsoil.
