The service was scheduled quickly (one day from call) and completely in less than an hour. They also accommodated my work schedule.
Description of Work: The gear on my garage door opener was stripped. The technician, Nick, replaced the gear and greased all the tracks. He also made sure to show me the old gear and the filings indicating that it was stripped. Very professional and very courteous. I would not call anyone else for garage door service but Automatic Door.

We called on a Sunday and left a message; they returned the call that night; the technician was there the next day, and quickly fixed the door. They were fine with sending a check for the bill later. They installed the doors 20 years ago, and have come back a few times for repairs -- always prompt, professional and reasonably priced.

I made an appointment for the technician to come out and give me an estimate. He came out on time and was very nice. He looked at everything. I had previously researched garage doors and knew which kind I wished to buy. I had decided on this particular company and product based on a friend's recommendation. I ordered it and they notified me when it was in. We set up the installation date and they came and installed it. He also checked out my garage door opener and told me it was acceptable to continue to use. He didn't try to sell me a new opener.

It went very well. Jim responded to my call well past the dinner hour on the evening the garage door failed. By 11am the next morning he was on-site. Instead of merely repairing the problem, he adjusted the location of the torsion spring to a more optimal position. He also serviced the entire garage door assembly and it has run quieter and smoother since he performed the work. It's better than new! Jim's professional approach, personable demeanor, quick response, and attention to detail were all top-notch. The cost of the service was very reasonable. Not only will I use Automatic Door Company in the future, but I will highly recommend them to my freinds, colleagues and family.

They did a great job. They fixed the garage doors up nicely and were done quickly.
Description of Work: 1 of my 2 older garage door openers was out of adjustment. Could not get it right myself. ADC fixed the problem and did a full tune up on both door openers. They are running very smoothly now. Worth the $$.

That afternoon, the co. sent Chris to my house. After 2 hrs. of fumbling around with the new unit, he couldn't get it to work at all. He finally left and said he was told to charge me another $70, which I didn't pay since he made matters worse and now the door didn't work at all, and I had to manually operate it for 4 days until the co. sent out Karl. Karl installed yet another new unit and had everything working within 25 mins. Karl was extremely nice and obviously knew what he was doing. Karl didn't charge me, but the co. sent another $70 bill to me later that week, which I paid just to be done with them. So this bad review is what Jim's rudeness, temper, and questionable billing charges have bought him.
Description of Work: Had bad experience with owner Jim Varney. Close function on Genie garage door not working. I live in a 2-year old condo and called Automatic Door because they installed unit, which is still under warranty. Within 5 mins., Jim's diagnosis was that opener needed to be replaced, and he charged me $70. Told me they could come back in a few days with a new unit and that it would take approx. 40 mins. to install. Co. secy. called shortly afterwards to say someone could come back that afternoon and that it would be another $70 for this visit. Said I couldn't understand how they could charge me again for the same service call. She said I would need to speak to Jim and gave me his cell no. When I asked him about being charged twice in one day, he started yelling at me about how he has a $40,000 truck and has to pay insurance. He said anyone would find this price a bargain and that he is working outside in hot weather and now has to put up with my "bitching" (his exact word.)

Very polite and professional on the phone. Called to confirm appointments and when doors ready from factory. Project cost a bit more than I would have liked. Installer was polite and reasonably neat, though he could have swept out garage when he was done. Office very responsive when I reported grinding sound from one door two months after installation. Came right out to rectify problem.
Description of Work: Homeowner removed original swinging garage doors and installed electrical outlets on ceiling of garage. Company installed 2 overhead garage doors with tracks and openers. Included some framing to interior of brick garage wall to ensure flush fit.

KARL, THE REPAIRMAN, WAS EXCELLENT. WE CALLED AT 7:30 AM AND HE WAS HERE TO FIX THE DOOR AT 9:30 AM. THEIR RATES ARE VERY REASONABLE, AND KARL WAS VERY PLEASANT. HE DID THE JOB QUICKLY, AND EFFICIENTLY. I WOULD USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.

NICK, THE TECHNICIAN WAS POLITE AND PERFORMED HIS REPAIRS AT A VERY HIGH LEVEL OF QUALITY.
Description of Work: I HAD A BROKEN SPRING THAT I NEGLETED TO REPAIR. THE OTHER SPRING BROKE AND THE CABLES JUMPED OFF AND THE DOOR BRACKET CAME OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT. I GOT THIS COMPANY FROM ANGIE'S LIST. THE OWNER RESPONDED QUICKLY TO MY REQUEST TO REPAIR ORIGINAL DOORS, BUT BASED ON THE CONDITION OF THE DOORS, HE ADVISED ME TO REPLACE THEM. HE MEASURED THE DOORS, QUOTED PRICE OF $830 FOR THE WHOLE JOB, CLARIFIED THAT INCLUDED TAX, DISPOSAL, ETC. ) I ARRANGED FOR THE JOB TO BE DONE AFTER HOUSE EXTERIOR WAS PAINTED, IN 2 MOS. I AGAIN CONFIRMED THE PRICE WITH THE OFFICE. THE WORKERS CAME AND TORE OFF MY OLD GARAGE DOORS, THEN SAID THEY HAD THE WRONG SIZE DOORS AND WOULD RETURN IN THE EVENING. I THOUGHT THEY HAD JUST BROUGHT WRONG DOORS. THEY RETURNED, DID GREAT JOB WITH THE INSTALLATION & CLEAN UP. I WAS GIVEN A BILL FOR $900, $70 MORE THAN WAS AGREED TO. THE FOREMAN SAID I COULD CALL THE OWNER ABOUT THE COST AND SAID IT WAS RELATED TO THE SIZE OF DOORS. I CALLED THE OFFICE AND SECRETARY CONFIRMED I OWED THEM $900. I THINK IT WAS IRRESPONSIBLE TO CHARGE ME FOR THEIR ERROR. I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THE OWNER.
