Description of Work: I needed to move a one bedroom apartment. I had a lot of stuff as I lived there 10 years. The truck they sent was too small. Two men came.They did not have a screwdriver to disassemble my bed, so it took longer, which was bad because I was paying by the hour. The biggest surprise was the price quoted did not include all the fees so the cost was double what I expected, and they did not even bring everything.

Description of Work: Heirlooms were very badly damaged as well as our high end treadmill. Their coverage is minimal unless you pay for extra insurance which is very costly. They paid .60/lb for damages. This did not cover lighter items at all and they guessed the weight for our Piano. The piano was very badly damaged and not secured well. Personal insurance does not cover this type of damage because it was the mover's poor fault that damage was done. Poor workmanship is the peril not covered. They seemed very nice, prompt and professional up until things went wrong. Then they stopped responding to emails and calls. They also lost ALL of the screws and small parts to put beds, shelves and toys back together. We had to find and replace all of these. My son slept on the floor for 2 weeks and the movers never returned to put things back together after the parts arrived.

Description of Work: They unloaded a truck and moved furniture into the house of the young family to whom I gave my "deal" as a gift. They were remarkably courteous to me in setting things up--prompt, efficient and kind. I would certainly use their services again.

Description of Work: I'm sorry to complain but ... I bought the "deal" for $99 to have 2 men move and set up a bed, and to just move a washer & dryer from our garage to our 2nd floor in conclusion to some construction we had done at our home. We also had them move our family room sofa just long enough for us to straighten out the rug. They were scheduled to come between 2:00 - 4:00 on a Friday as we were having our daughter & her husband come for the week-end and we needed to move out of the guest bedroom that day. The day before we were told that there was an additional $150 charge because "he didn't work for free". It was too late for us to make other arrangements so we agreed to pay the extra $150 even though there was no mention anywhere on the Angie's List site of this extra charge. One man arrived at 1:00 on Friday. The second man didn't arrive until 3:00. While moving/setting up the bed they put a big scratch in the newly refinished hardwood floor. The washer & dryer were moved without incident. We were also going to have them move a dresser from the 2nd flr guest room back into our 2nd flr bedroom but we did it ourselves so there wouldn't be any more damage to the floor. They also moved the sofa while we straightened the rug. It took less than an hour for them to complete the job. Other than the fact that we got our furniture moved in time we were pretty unhappy with the job.

Description of Work: Movers showed up without the scheduled truck. The two men moving were very polite and hard working. Upon payment I provided a groupon to which they called the owner who then told them to raise the price by two hundred dollars. Upon my objection and refusal to pay the new increase he threatened to call the cops, to which I welcomed. Apparently the price quoted was "too good" to use a groupon. I conceded and said fine, but you have to honor the cash value and he proceeded to refuse and threaten me with legal action and the cops. In my opinion if you don't want to acknowledge your groupon, then don't offer them. Horrible business, refused to speak with me, would never recommend to ANYONE.

What I thought would be $99 ended up costing me over $200, so I don’t think I’ll purchase any more Deals or renew with Angie’s List.

Description of Work: The movers were very prompt, polite and were careful with my furniture. They are a young company and the owners are trying to do business in a sustainable and responsible manner. I would highly reommend EKOMovers to anyone looking for help to move--large and small jobs.
