TruGreen Lawn Care - 5670

After several years of using TruGreen and 2 calls this summer requesting that they come back because of weeds - I Fired them!

We have used this service for several years. They have gotten progressively more high-pressure sales oriented but at least the lawn looked good until this year. The lawn has never looked worse. Presently it is full of weeds, crabgrass, goosegrass, dandelions, thistles, anything you can think of that residential lawns in the Dayton area could have. I have not changed the level of service this year is relation to past years. It takes a while to get through to them on the phone, the cyclical phone message is annoying, I made two calls in a week, the first one never got a return response. The second one initiated a weed treatment at no cost but also with no appointment or notification they were coming. I happened to be home at the time and showed the representative the weeds and the problem. We have a large lawn, including the time I talked to him, he was done with the job and gone in less than ten minutes (9/9/2013). We'll see what happens. The only reason I would not rate them a D at this point is that I may not have called to complain soon enough. We will not be using them again next year.

We prepaid for all of the services in Dec. 2012. TruGreen has been calling us trying to collect $44.00 on grub control which was clearly outlined in our contract and paid for with American Express on 12/12/12 and 12/30/12. We were contacted twice in one day by two different callers demanding payment for $44.00. My husband explained numerous times that it was included in our plan and the second caller, Kathy, Employee ID # CB0G8312, told my husband she didn't care, we owed them $44.00 and she threatened Collections turnover as well as suspending our service. My husband asked for her Supervisor and he was told they weren't available and that she would have him call. No return call was received. The agent told my husband that she didn't have the record in front of her and she wasn't going to look it up. She made a point to my husband that the call was being recorded and my husband told her he hoped it was for the sake of her Supervisor listening to it. To this point, we have used TruGreen for years, however this experience today, along with a "Past Due Reminder" shows that their billing system is flawed and that their telephone agents, both spoken to today, were extremely rude.

They used Google earth to survey our property, I'd rather prefer to send us their technician out than using it. They gave me a quote right on phone. The initial sales person that I talk to was very helpful, she answered all my questions and I got a call back from them a week later, the gentlemen I spoke to was very nice but I was busy at that time and I told him that I've gone with another company and if it doesn't work out I will call them back, he just kept me on the phone, he was very persistent and then I said to him straightly that we won't go with them because we have gone to other company.

The service was a six application agreement with grub control and aeration in the fall. The early applications (spring) seemed to be ok. Major issues began with the grub prevention application and continued thoughout the year. The total loss of my front yard came with the treatments in the July - August time frame in which they tried to kill the crab grass that the pre-emergent application failed to stop. The yard smelled like a highly clorinated swimming pool and began to die out in early August. The service manager was out to my property on two occasions to make sure I was watering as I should and on the second visit admitted that all the watering in the world was not going to save the grass. They admitted to using the wrong crab grass agent at the wrong time on the lawn which simply burns it up. They did slice seed the dead areas in September at which time it became clear grubs had attacked several areas showing that the grub control was not applied correctly or at all. In October they were to apply a starter fertilizer treatment which never happened and the slice seeding they did was only partially successful. This is a great case of buyer be ware. They offered a very competitive price and offered all the right things, the fact is non of this was performed correctly. You loose much more than you gain. I stopped service for the 2013 season after buying and applying grass seed to the bare spots left after wonderful Tru Green Team damaged my lawn. I can't offer a higher WARNING to all homeowners not to simply go with lowest priced lawn service. I learned the hard way price and size does not equal Quality and customer care.

He is very knowledgeable about products and lawn care and his prices are reasonable. He is very thorough, meticulous and there is nothing we dislike about him. He is a very busy guy and has a lot of customers. We have had a good experience with him.

They charge every visit whenever they come. It has been very convenient and the yard is gorgeous looking. They do fertilization and any kind of bug treatment.

They're very efficient and friendly. I had a horrible experience before and so this is a nice change. I plan to continue using them.

I haven’t used anyone for pest control, though I plan to. So far, I’ve been satisfied with the service.

They show up when they say they will, they are courteous and offer fair prices.

They are great. The yard looks a lot better.

We have only been using them for a week so far. I really do not know how good their treatment is. It is looking pretty good right now. They are good as far as I can see. Their prices are reasonable.

Not only did they KILL much of the healthy grass, but I had FAR more WEEDS than I'd ever had at both locations. When I called and told them about it, they said they would inspect the yards and call me back, but I didn't hear from them. When I called AGAIN about the problem, they said it was too late to do anything about it, and accepted no responsibility for the damage they caused! I then asked them to cancel my services. Now they keep calling me repeatedly, asking me to use their services again, in spite of the fact that I ask to be removed from their calling list! Do NOT use Trugreen unless you want your yard to look WORSE!!!!

They are very professional and do great work. Our lawn always looks great when they are finished.

I've used them for probably the last 7-8 years. They do a good job. The issue is that however they treat a couple of areas I still get crabgrass. They tell me it comes back because I don't get an extra treatment. Their trucks seem to leak oil and they mark on the driveway. I have oil spots on my driveway. I've called and emailed about the issue, and now they park in a lot that's on the street. I believe this issue has been taken care of.

I am on a yearly contract with them and will use them again in the future.

They are really good actually because I don't have to go to the store and buy the stuff to do the work. When you buy fertilizer and all of that it's more expensive than $47. So they save me money and I don't have to do anything.

They say they will come out and spot treat, but I don't know if they really do or not because my lawn has spots all over the place. I have called them three times for someone to come out and meet me at my house. No one has ever showed up or called me. It's very frustrating.

They charge $54 per service. I have a double lawn, so it is a lot of yards for them. Their work has improved my lawn a 100%, and they have made the grass flickering green. In fact, I got a purification award for the lawn. I had it for several years. Usually, it is a different person; but each time they leave an overall analysis of the yard about what they have done, they have not done all the areas, and what they recommend to be done for the yard. They lock all the gates, and put the flags up. They don't need to be supervised for the work.

They are very safe, consistent, and do a great job. Our lawn always looks nice, and if there is ever a problem, they are always willing to come back and look at it.

It took a couple of years to see progress with weeds in the yard. That is my only complaint. They come every month. They knock on the door and try and have a conversation about your yard including tips and tricks.

I asked that they schedule with me before coming out to make sure I was home, and they never did. It seemed like they always sprayed right before rain. They did not help us any and the problem still exists. They never did what they said they were going to do, and then send a bill. I had a hard time dealing with them; I had one good year of service with them, and then it went downhill from there.

At the start my yard looked liked one of my neighbors' that used a different service and better than the other neighbors who used nobody. Over the first two years my yard started looking worse and had some bare spots. When I consulted a representative I was told this was due to not watering the yard enough. My neighbor s yards were unchanged and they watered less than me or not at all. I had Scott's seed the yard. I now have patches of different types of grass and allot more weeds and I have mushrooms. An expert said they might have come from the seed because the area is well drained, in the sun and no decaying material there in over 40 years and nobody else in the neighborhood has them. The yard looks worse than anybody else's on the street even the people that do nothing to their yards. I asked a neighbor to watch for the next application and he did. He stated that they only did part of the yard and the guy was here for approximately 5 minutes. I talked to a representative and ended up killing section of grass to stop a weird looking grass. They did supply the seed but I had to do the work and supply the vegetation killer. Finally I had enough and canceled the service. The yard still looks bad but it is better than when they were treating it.

We had lots of rain and almost in the day time and they have not had a break and they did there proper service, they were professional and they come and get to work. They made dandy lines disappear over night.

First of all they were supposed to let me know before they treated and they didn't. You could not tell the difference when they treated or did not treat. The secretary called and I set up a payment of $10.00 per month after they treated without asking, then they sent my account to collections.
