+ -1 moreGreat Experience! Tom Jarus arrived on time, put down old sheets to protect my floor and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time. While he was here I asked him to check a tough to reach outside fixture to see if it was broken, or just needed a new bulb. He determined it only needed a new bulb and even purchased one for me and replaced it when he went to the store to purchase a part he needed for the work in the basement.
Description of Work: Installed a dedicated circuit in my basement and replaced a broken overhead light fixture.

+ -1 moreTom Jarus arrived on schedule, wrote down what I wanted done & submitted a reasonable quote that he stayed close to @ the end. Some difficulties caused a minor increase in the estimation of the time it would take. He & his assistant arrived when they promised, laid down sheets everywhere to keep the floors/rugs clean, and didn't scoff at the minor things this woman wanted done. These improvements make such a difference in our everyday life.
Description of Work: We needed 2 new circuits for a new dishwasher, microwave, ceiling fan/light for a room with no ceiling light, exterior GFI outlet, an extension of the garage light switch/door opener into the kitchen, and moving an annoying outlet to a better location on the same wall. We live in a split-level & the new circuit wiring had to travel through the entire length of the house, including a crawl space.

+ -1 moreTom was very accommodating to my schedule. As soon as I left, a message he called back right away to set up an appointment. When I had to reschedule the next day, they were able to come out early Saturday morning which was great. When Tom promptly arrived at 8:30 he began methodically checking all the outlets and electrical box. The problem was simple and solved so quickly that he waived the fee, (although we gave him a little money for his valuable time). I have a very old home that will inevitably encounter strange electrical problems in the future. I am relieved that I have a skilled and courteous company I can count on.
Description of Work: Half of the electricity was out in my house for no apparent reason. Jarus electric had done great work in the past for me so I had no hesitation in calling them again.

We ran into problems with the light installation and offered to come back as soon as I resolved the issue. I called him and he showed up shortly after.
Description of Work: Properly installed a pair of intelligent 3-way switches that I couldn't make work. Also Replaces switches in Dining Room, as well as, installed a ceiling box in my den.

+ -1 moreJarus installed ceiling fans w/light fixtures in all three of my bedrooms as they previously did not have any overhead light fixtures or wall switches. They also ran a 220 line up to my attic for an AC unit and replaced all of my old outlets. They worked very fast, completed the entire job in a day, arrived on time and were a pleasure to deal with. They left no mess either. They also gave us additional pricing to have some future work completed if we choose to do so. The initial contact with them was very easy, they always returned my calls and provided an estimate free upon request. I would highly recommend them. They were also very conscious of trying to save us money along the way by offering suggestions etc. for various type of work.
Description of Work: Installed ceiling fans w/light fixtures, wall switches, ran 220 line to the attic, and replaced several old outlets.

+ -1 moreThe job took a little longer than anticipated, but that was because Tom left to do other jobs occasionally so there was only one person working on the job sometimes. He also insisted on installing a bathroom fan, but didn't vent it, so my carpenter had to do all that extra work. Overall, I was very happy with their work. Would definitely hire again.
Description of Work: Wired basement for bathroom and laundry room remodel; replaced all outlets and switches in house, replaced ceiling fans with light fixtures.

Description of Work: Our AC and some refrigeration equipment at my business were not working after a electric surge. Called Tom after 5 pm on the Friday of a holiday weekend. I assumed that he would not be able to come out until after the weekend. When he heard the nature of the problem he said he thought it best if he came out right away. Tom came out and in 2 hours had the problem resolved. I was extremely impressed that Tom was willing to come out at such short notice, at an inconvenient time and also able to take care of my problem. The charge was reasonable as well. A+

+ -1 moreIt was a good experience. I don't know if his price was good or not. He charged $60 per hour, and said he knew the breaker was a special breaker which cost more than most breakers.
Description of Work: Replaced arc fault breaker. Did not know if breaker was cause of power outage until he tried a new one, and found the old one defective. It could have been a short in one of the circuits or appliance, we lucked out to be a faulty breaker. He had to go to a distributor to buy a breaker.

He called first and even came out earlier than he thought he would. Now that is a good company. I can not remember what I paid but it was absolutely reasonable.
Description of Work: Jarus fixed a power problem I was having in my 1000 square foot home. Half of my house lost power. He fixed the problem and found a burned wire.

After my first experience with him, I have not gotten estimates, but have elected to have him do the required work at an agreed-upon rate per hour per worker plus materials. I trust them to work diligently without fear of freeloading, and I have always been very pleased with the results. I am familiar with the trades and recommend Tom without reservation.
Description of Work: Completely rewired a basement being remodeled. Job included removal of old knob-and-tube wiring, installation of two wall switches, nine wall-mounted electrical outlets, three cable TV outlets, and hookup of twelve newly installed light fixtures.

+ -1 moreThey were outstanding. The estimate was right on. I think I got more than my money's worth. He was very honest and he was very professional. I have no complaints about them at all. They are trustworthy, honest and highly competent. They answered my call promptly, the technician that came out was not subcontracted. They put down sheets on the floor before they walked on them because it was raining outside and they did the work quickly and efficiently. I was very pleased with the quality of their work. I would highly recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: They did some electrical rewiring in our attic. There were a lot of illegal splices in the wiring and the electrical panel was on a recall list as a fire hazard. The wiring in the downstairs bathroom and the kitchen wiring was illegal as well. Jarus electric fixed the wiring and replaced the electric panel. They also installed lighting fixtures in the bathroom. Jarus Electric installed new branch circuits to the kitchen and the attic. The new circuit to the attic required snaking 2 wires from the 3rd floor attic to the basement through the walls of a house built in 1929, not an easy task. They accomplished this without tearing up the walls. They also snaked through the walls to put an on/off switch in the upstairs bathroom wall by the door where one did not previously exist.

+ -1 moreTom, who is the owner, was very courteous from the time I placed a call into Jarus Electric. Mike arrived exactly at 8 AM as promised by Tom on the day we agreed upon. Tom gave me an estimate and they were almost right on what he anticipated the costs would be for supplies and labor. They were both very professional and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. Tom guaranteed his work and if I was not satisfied for any reason he said he would come back out to fix the problem right away. Everything has been great thus far and I would recommend Tom over and over again. He runs a solid company and deserves all the high remarks people have left him over the years.
Description of Work: Grounded kitchen and bedroom outlets. Ran cable from basement to the second floor and added both a cable jack and outlet on a wall next to the fireplace so a flat screen TV could be placed on the ledge so wires and cable would not be pronounced.

The cost was a bit higher than we had anticipated, but Tom was up front when giving us an estimate that the final cost would depend on what he ran into in doing the work.
Description of Work: Tom wired and installed a pole lamp in our front yard. He needed to dig a trench for the electric line from the house to the lamp. He also needed to install a switch and outlet in our basement for the wiring.

He searched for the kind of undercounter lighting that would be easiest to install. He covered the floor and cleaned up the mess. For the first time, we have lights that actually work. The rest of the work was nicely done. I'm happy. I would definitely call him again.
Description of Work: Tom and his partner installed undercounter lighting to my exact specifications. They installed a double plug for my sump pump and the battery back-up. They installed a plug on the outside of our house for the transformer that operates the outdoor lighting. This was done so that the box would not need to be by the front door.

They finished all work in two days. Tom was very knowledgeable about codes and safety issues. He charges by the hour and I thought it was reasonable. I would highly recommend him.
