1st Response Pest Management

Called 1st Response because our dogs were picking up fleas from the yard and bringing them into the house. The lady who answered the phone was delightful in every way. She listened to our issue, and talked about appropriate solutions. While she did suggest inside treatment for the fleas, when I told them we did not want to do this for concern over other pets, she did not press the issue. She was very thorough in getting the information, and to my surprise, was able to offer me a quote of $250 - $300 on the spot along with scheduling a date for the visit. They (Chris) came out 3-4 days later (I think my call was a Thursday; they were there on Monday). He was able to spray all of the areas we discussed (plus more) and with the Angie's List coupon, the total was slightly less than what she had quoted me on the phone. It is difficult to comment on the "quality" as we really can't tell if all the fleas were eliminated! However, we know that when our dogs went out in the yard before the treatment, we could SEE the fleas jumping onto them from the grass. We haven't seen any since the treatment. I had not even mentioned on the phone that we thought the fleas had come from untreated mulch we had delivered at the end of July. Our dogs do not go out in the front yard, but when my husband told Chris about the mulch, he treated all of the mulch beds both front yard and back and anywhere on the property we had used the mulch. We have since received a follow-up "thank-you" note from the company. I really appreciate the professionalism, empathy (what a uncomfortable problem to have!), thoroughness, and responsiveness of this company. I do wish all of the service providers we use at were this pleasant and accommodating!

We called First Response Pest Management after being unsatisfactorily treated by a national pest control company. We were very impressed with their service and how they treated us as a customer - extremely friendly and accomodating. Their prices were better than the national company and we were very happy to support a local small business.

I called 1st Response and talked to Lisa, who was very sympathetic and professional. Jay came out the next day and took care of the problem while I was at work. No more bee attacks!

It was very easy to get an appointment. The receptionist who took my call was very polite and helpful. She was able to give me an estimate over the phone and the estimate was very close to the actual price that I paid. The owner, Jay came out to the house and was very polite and knowledgable. He arrived on time and finished the job in a short amount of time. He performed quality work and answered all of my questions. The price was very reasonable and I had a great experience from start to finish.

Jay arrived on time. Took care to look around whole yard and listened well to my explanation of the problem. Described what he would do and included extra treatment on rain garden.

Jay explained the services offered. Took his time to answer our questions. We started the year round program. We have confidence in his professionalism.

Someone from the company came out and sprayed our home from top to bottom and laid mouse bait stations and stations outside for the chipmunks. We have had no problems since then. We did sign up for a program so our home is sprayed once every season. We recently had bees build a nest under the front porch. They came promptly when I called. Before he left he asked that if they weren't gone in a few days to call back and he would be back to retreat. While he was here for the bees he also checked the outside bait stations and refilled the empty ones. If we see any pests at all in our home, someone will come out immediately to take care of it. The office staff is courteous, knowlegeble and remembers your name. We have been very pleased to this point with the excellent customer service the team provides.

They arrive on time for scheduled appointments. If they ever need to reschedule due to weather, they always call beforehand. Basically, their communication is excellent! I’ve been happy with their service, and I’ll continue using them.

I was disappointed after reading so many good reviews about the company. First, I was told one price over the phone and then another (more expensive) price when the serviceman arrived. Then, due to miscommunication between the person who scheduled the appointment and the person who came to the house, I wasn't able to have my service when scheduled. Next, on the rescheduled appointment date the serviceman came to the house but, due to rain, he promised to return the following day, instead. However, the following day he was a no-call / no-show and I couldn't help but notice the company had already cashed my check. Finally, the day after I was told the service would be done (and nine days after the original service date), he showed up and did it. Whether or not the treatment worked is too soon to say. No problems so far.

We were very happy with them. They were very good. They replied quickly and were on time. The service was good and I would recommend them.

My 19 yo daughter was home alone for 2 weeks. 2 days into it, she discovered ants in the kitchen. My daughter HATES ants. She has almost an irrational response to them. She called me in Texas in a panic, saying she wanted me to come home. Of course that wasn't possible, so I got on Angie's List and started looking for an exterminator. 1st Response was the first company I called. I spoke to a very nice lady and explained we needed an exterminator. She went through what they would do when they came out. She then said she could book us for the following week. I explained that our situation, and that my daughter would not survive that long. I hung up and started making phone calls to other companies. About 10 minutes later, my cell phone rang, and it was 1st Response calling me back. The lady explained they had had a cancellation for the next morning. She said the tech's name was Jay, and he was the owner of the company. She said my daughter would be in good hands. I was able to give her my credit card information so my daughter wouldn't have to deal with anything. Jay was great with my daughter, and apparently spent quite a bit of time explaining things to her. She was relieved that the ants disappeared almost immediately. I really appreciate how everyone went above and beyond to take care of a problem when I was 1500 miles away. Now, can Jay come and show my daughter how to run the dishwasher? :)

I like this company. I had a problem with carpenter bees in my siding. 1st response told me the price (estimated to be between 300 and 340). An employee inspected my home within a few days, treated the carpenter bees, and treated two ant colonies next to the driveway. They offer a 60 day guarantee. I have not seen any carpenter ants since they sprayed. The price was fair and the work is good. I will use them again.

The tech came late since he was held up at another job. Still he kept informing me and letting me know. He did give me a reasonable estimate and was easy to work with. Overall, a positive experience.

We absolutely love the service! When we first had them come out, we had purchased a new home and there were a few ants near the kitchen. They sprayed, and told us the ants would take up to a week or so to disappear. They were gone that night and we never saw them again! So we started using them for ongoing pest control services. Not only does the spray work wonderfully, but we've never had any negative reaction to the product (including our daughter, who has special needs and reacts to many substances). We have an occasional fly in the summer that comes in if someone leaves the door open, of course. But beyond that, we usually do not see any bugs at all. Now, with the hot days after all this rain, we noticed a few tiny pepper flake sized bugs near the windows, and a couple of small spiders in the basement. They came out within a week (even though they seemed swamped - we heard on the news that it's one of the worst years for bugs) and quickly identified the small bugs as springtails. He just sprayed outside for the springtails, and sprayed the basement for those couple of spiders. And they never charged a dime. All this, just because we saw a few bugs. They really don't want us to have any bugs in our house - which is fine by us! To top it off, everyone there is so incredibly friendly, and acts as though it's their absolute pleasure to serve us. That personal touch is really impressive! We really love our service with 1st Response and highly recommend them.

Called and within one week came out to the property and provided estimate. Was able to treat that day. Very professional. investigated entire house for other possible insect activity. Required repeat service to get rid of the carpenter ants. Explained process and treatment very thoroughly.

Was impressed with how fast the product seemed to work. We were having such a problem with the small ants in our kitchen. probably would see 100's of them each morning or evening all over my counter tops in the kitchen. Drove me insane! Each day we noticed less and less and now we haven't seen a single ant. I am also noticing that we have always had a lot of spiders in our basement and they seem to have disappeared as well.

It was done very well. He was very professional, and he wanted to please. It wasn't just a money-making process, he likes his work. We liked to way he followed up and he was very punctual.

They were very knowledgeable. They did a great job. They were responsive. They managed to eradicate it quickly. For what they did, their price was average.

I spent $144 on that work. It was great. We had them on the weekend and explained that we had a bumble bee nest in our flower beds and they really dug trenches in the beds. They contacted us Monday, came back on Thursday and did everything they needed to do. They did everything on the same day and I don’t think they could provide better customer service than that. I felt the price was a little high just to put the solution out but the price I think is the same as what everyone else is paying.

Jay came to my home the morning after my call. He was very polite, neat and efficient. The inside of my house was treated today. The outside will be done after it stops raining. I was very pleased and will definitely use this company again.

They were great to deal with and very professional. They worked with me to ensure any sprays would be completely dry and harmless by the time my children arrived home from school on days they sprayed. When weather prevented them from coming out to spray exterior, they called and told me that they would come out another day when weather was more cooperative. They took care not to track dirt into the house. Also, first time here they discussed with me the particular types of insects we had seen in the past and how they would address these concerns. Also explained how their yearly contract worked to address ongoing pest control issues. While we are still considering this option, I would recommend them to other Angie's list members.

After trying to deal with the colony of ant invading my kitchen, I called the professionals. It took several trips to get rid of the problem, but First Response was very prompt and worked hard to make sure the ants were gone.
