1st Response Pest Management

We kept having ants sporadically in our home. Then, my husband left a package of open cookies on the floor of the pantry that was closed, but not fully sealed and suddenly we had massive ants. I was mortified and searched for someone on Angie's List. 1st Response was able to come out fairly quickly. They quickly found the source of the ants (they were coming through an electric socket on the back splash in our kitchen). I would have never looked there! I was so disgusted where they were coming through. They put down some bait and the ants came and used the backsplash grout like a highway to get the bait and take it back to the nest. It was unreal the number of ants we saw. They quickly consumed all the bait and within a two days, we no longer saw any ants. They placed bait in a couple other places and inspected the rest of the house to make sure there weren't any other areas. The other areas did not see any activity. I was very pleased with how quickly the rectified the problem. It was well worth the money and I will use them again!

They gave us a discount for using their two year service plan. They were very responsive. I enquired online and I got a very quick response. Actually they replied after hours and they were here next morning. They came out in couple of days and treated our home on a weekend. They told me exactly what they were doing, so they were very thorough and explained that because they couldn’t actually see the nest and told they needed to follow up which did happen. They came right out and we had no activity since then.

Jay was knowledgeable, professional and, when he put on (clean)paper booties before coming inside, I knew I would like him. He asked pertinent questions; I answered. He explained treatment, how and why it works, completed the task quickly, we chatted about bed bugs, I paid, he left.

Work was completed and a receipt was left in the door, since I wasn't home. I checked the area where there had been many bees coming in and out of a hole between the brick and roofing. Not one bee was spotted and none have returned since.

They came initially for an infestation and have come twice since for general treatments. Everything has been fine since their work. They have been prompt and extremely helpful.

I've had a very heavy and on-going problem with Indian meal moths in my residence for over two years. I contacted several other pest control companies who seemed uninterested in assisting me. 1st Response (Jay Neff) came out and thoroughly assessed the potential source of the infestation and developed a good working theory about the source and a plan for eradication. I was very impressed with the thought behind 1st Response's plan. It will probably take a few more visits by 1st Response to fix the issue, but I am confident in the plan.

Had a flea infestation at my mom's house from fostering a cat for about a week, didn't realize he had fleas until several weeks later when family members all of the sudden started getting bitten. Fleas would be crawling on your legs just minutes after entering the house. There have always been dogs in the house until a couple years ago, but NEVER have we had anything like this! I knew immediately it was time to call a professional. I called on a Monday and Chris was out that Wednesday, arriving at the time scheduled. Family members had to leave the house for treatment, but were able to go back about four hours later. All rooms of the three-level house were treated. Upon return, no chemical smell at all. Immediately, there was a noticeable difference in amount of live fleas, and within a week, all seemed dead. It has been three weeks now and still no fleas! They do recommend that you vacuum every day/other day for two weeks to stimulate eggs to hatch, which makes sense, so there was a little work on our end afterwards. They also said that if we saw live fleas after two weeks they would re-treat, but luckily it didn't come to that.

Chris arrived exactly on time. Determined there were two issues. A large hornet nest in a tree near front of house and a bee colony in the eaves of the house. Took about an hour but both were eliminated . Original price quoted over the phone turned out to be higher, but it turned out there were two distinct areas needing attention,so all in all ,I can't complain. Further , it was a job I had no intention of doing myself and even if I did attempt it, using Home Depot chemicals was just not going to cut it. So, I am satisfied . Further , it is guaranteed for 30 days that neither hornets or bees will return and I received specific instructions on what to look for and how to call it in so that I get a prompt return call. Shortly after writing the above review we noticed the hive was apparently larger than we thought and we started seeing activity again. Chris responded promptly and actually had to return three ( 3 ) more times . They appear to be gone now. This hive was a tough one ,but 1st Response did not give up nor did they try to evade honoring their commitment. Coming out a total of five ( 5 ) times without any hesitation warrants a top rating !!!!

It was fine. I can’t say they were super, I can’t say they were bad. It was what one would expect I guess. They didn’t do anything above or beyond and it was just a normal service.

First Response was prompt in scheduling an appointment to do work. The tech was courteous, gracious, and neat. He did the work quickly. He left clear instructions about pet management. Company follow-up was thorough. And professional. Impression of the company: ambitious, eager to grow their business, positive and thorough techs. A good value.

I think they're a little over priced but all people involved were extremely professional and courteous. It was very easy to get questions answered via both phone and email. The technician who came out accommodated our need for a later appointment. He was on time and polite.

The next day I killed about 65 critters, much more than had ever had before. Amounts began to reduce daily, but, because no gel bait had been put into crevices(due to thinking all activity was outdoors), Nick returned on June 5th and inserted gel baits and resprayed outdoors. We were told the ant count might pick up at first as they would be "partying" on the gel and carrying it back to the nest to die off and kill their friends. The ants have markedly reduced and today (June 10th) has been ant free...YEAH! We signed up for the 3-treatment Gold Preventative Maintenance Plan for this year as we have mulch all around our house and there was sooo much ant activity outdoors (1st Response even had to treat 3 of our trees!) that we felt we need to really combat them this year or they would just move back in. (cost $384 for 3 treatments which is a deal compared to the one-time treatment). We will give a couple more days and then have our mulch added for the year. Lisa said to call them after that and they would come do our spring treatment on the newer mulch. I feel very confident that if any more issues arise, they will respond promptly as necessary--but am hoping they have wiped out the critters! We are very pleased with their prompt response and attention. Very polite and willing to give explanations to my questions. Cover shoes indoors. Prompt call-backs if need to leave a message.

My overall experience with this company was very satisfactory. Chris was professional, understanding and very well informed of what they do, what can be done and most importantly, provided the best scheduling treatment given the issue I had. He treated the interior of my home with a canister spray, and used an industrial power sprayer (basically a power sprayer located in their truck), spraying up along the siding of my house and the ground throughout the WHOLE perimeter of my house. After treatment, there was a marked improvement the treatment did its job, but unfortunately ants still found its way into my kitchen after 60 days after treatment. Mind you, and as said before, the treatment overall did its job, but there must had been "straggler" ants that found its way into my kitchen. Chris told me since its been well over 30 days since treatment, it is usually a sign the treatment solution is starting to break down. Chris did come back for a re-treatment (as their guarantee and no cost to me), baited around potential areas in my kitchen and sprayed a portion of the exterior where I had seen the ants. I plan on signing up onto their premium plan as I seem (from evidence) to also have a rodent problem. Chris explained this would be the best and most cost effective plan rather than getting a-la carte treatment. I am very much satisfied with the overall experience with 1st Response Pest Management. My only concern is the cost of treatment, as I feel it is a bit excessive. I guess I will find out in a year's time and the treatment results it yields whether it was worth signing up on their plan or not. If not, I would still have them come out for general treatment.

Everyone was friendly from my initial phone call, even when I had to reschedule. They were on time and efficient. Performed interior treatment and had to come back to do outside due to rain. They called and left a note the had been here. I will continue to use this company if they offer a big deal again. Definitely worth it. Their packages are a bit pricey for me, but if I had more than a spider problem I'm sure I would take the plunge. Thank you!!
