The door looks great and the opener is so quiet. The gentlemen who did the installation were right on time, efficient, and cleaned up the area nicely. The price was very competitive, so I am really pleased. I would recommend them to everyone.

+ -1 moreI was very impressed with the service I received! He accommodated my need for an evening appointment and came out on a terrible snowy, cold night. The problem ended up taking quite a bit of time to diagnose but, despite the miserable conditions, he was professional and friendly. I thought that he charged me a very fair amount particularly given the circumstances and the amount of time that it took to fix the problem. He even took the time to explain what had happened and showed me the damaged wiring. I will be needing a new set of garage doors soon and I will definitely be calling on this company again.
Description of Work: My garage door suddenly refused to close and would "bounce" on the floor a couple of times and re-open.

Pickerington Overhead wasn't the cheapest, but they are well rated here, are nearby, and I think they were they only one who included "check opener safety settings" in their estimate. They were also able to get out on fairly short notice. I had one broken torsion spring. They suggested replacing both, which matched the advice I'd seen on web sites. They were quick and pleasant. I'd use them again.

So, when my 13 yr old Craftsman door opener started giving me problems, I called and told them I wanted a brand new opener. I spoke with Dave Huskey and he told me what openers they offered and I told him I wanted the belt drive Liftmaster. He arrived exactly on-time and completed the job in under 90 minutes. He took the old opener and all of the packaging from the new opener with him. I couldn't be happier with the service, the new opener and also the price. I HIGHLY recommend Pickerington Overhead Garage Door!!!

+ -1 moreMy husband came home from work on Friday and couldn't open the garage door because a spring had broken. After searching Angie's List for repair companies that were open on Saturday, we called Pickerington Overhead Garage Door Co. at approximately 8:15 Saturday morning. They said they could be here at 10:30 but showed up early at 9:50. They were completely done 40 minutes later. During that time they removed and replaced 2 overhead springs, lubricated all moving parts, readjusted the garage door opening and closing limits and reattached the weatherstripping gasket at the bottom that had come loose. In addition they made an appointment to come back on Tuesday to actually replace the gasket that had shrunk and gotten brittle with age. After replacing the weatherstripping gasket, they again adjusted the garage door opener and checked the contact reverse. My experience with this company was excellent. I would use them again and I would recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 springs on my garage door, one of which was broken. Lubricated moving parts, replaced worn, brittle weatherstripping, tested contact reverse and adjusted open and close set limits.

+ -1 moreHow did it go overall? Very well. The repairmen arrived in the window of time I expected. Both were pleasant, professional, and focused on their work. I thought the job would take a lot longer than it actually did, and of course, even though they tested the dickens out of the system, I had to play around with it myself. Here's what I found endearing about this whole experience: I am a questions guy. And they were up to the challenge - answering all inquires with complete answers. For example, I was worried that I had damaged the garage door opener motor by trying to open the door - repeatedly - with a broken spring days before their arrival. My sixteen foot wide, two car garage door, is connected to a 1/3 horsepower garage door opener - whch I personally think is too small for the job. Had these repairmen told me I needed an upgrade to a 1/2 horsepower opener I would have had them install a new opener as well as the new torsion spring system. But, after checking my opener, and making some minor adjustments, my 1/3 horsepower opener was pronounced in good working order. The bottom line: what needed repairing was repaired, and my lack of knowledge about garage door openers was not used to encourage me to buy something I did not need. You "gotta" love that.
Description of Work: Since my garage door opener stopped working I thought I was in need of a new one. I called Pickerinton Overhead Garage Door Company for an appointment late afternoon on Friday, July 23, 2010. Since I did not need immediate service the company representative offered to have someobody there to fix it first thing Saturday morning. I declined that offer also as we had grandchildren plans for Saturday, and made arrangements to have a repairman come Monday morning, July 26, 2010. Monday morning two repairmen arrived and assessed the situation. As usual, I was wrong. The door opener was fine, but the torsion spring above the garage door was broken. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a brief, but thorough lesson on different types of garage door torsion spring systems. Based upon forty years experience as a teacher, coach, and administrator, I found my "schooling" to be pleasant, insightful, and to the point. When we built this home five years ago, the newest technology spring system was installed - which included plastic gears that were now shredded - four years beyond their one year warrany. After my "lesson," I opted to spend an addional $100.00 and convert my latest and greatest system back to the older style - all steel torsion bar system - with the torsion spring warrantied for two years. Once installed (in less than an hour), the repairmen not only tested their replacement of the torsion spring system, they kindly gave my garage door opener an examination and made multiple adjustments to that as as well. I appreciated the thoroughness of their work, their knowledge of the "subject," and their profiency at completing the job in a timely manner.

+ -1 moreOur garage door failed on the night of a snow storm. It is an 18-year old Stanley door. A spring broke and sections of the door came off the track. We got a hold of Pick' Door early in the morning and asked if they could help soon. It was bad having an open garage door in the cold and snow. They were able to schedule an afternoon appointment. Two folks arrived on time and promptly replaced both spring and got the door working. They even put solved a problem with the door dropping black soot marks on the outside (they said the problem was common on Stanley doors). Very professional, cleaned up the area, and good price. I've been telling my friends about there great service.

I had tried to contact three other companies higher on the list with no answer and no return of my phone call despite leaving a call back number including one that advertises 24 hour service. He was punctual and came on very short noticed on a Saturday morning. He answered all my questions. The springs broke on a Friday night and I was thankful that he could fix them during the weekend. He quickly got to work. Inspected all the other parts. I will definitely use Pickerington Garage door in the future.

Description of Work: I called to have my broken garage door opener fixed. A piece inside the opener had snapped off and was no longer opening my door. I was given a time frame of 3-4pm a few days later. He called at 2:45pm saying he was on his way and arrived promptly. I told him what happened and he knew what was wrong immediately. He fixed my garage door within 45 minutes and I even think it runs better and quieter than it did before.

+ -1 moreDave Huskey installed a new garage door opener for us circa 11/2006. He was a subcontractor for a large local home improvement store. We were glad the store utilized local businesses as subcontractors and we couldn't have been more pleased with Dave's original service. Naturally when the door began to stick we called on Dave to remedy the problem. I just happened to be home waiting on another service person and I took the chance to see if Dave could at least stop by that day to diagnose the problem. To my great surprise he said he'd add me to the end of his day and stop by after all his scheduled appointments were completed. It didn't take Dave very long to discover a small broken piece on the top panel of our garage door. Even though they don't make our brand of garage door any more Dave was able to fix the problem quickly and spent a lot of time adjusting the rest of the door mechanisms to ensure we'd have no further problems. We can't say enough good things about Dave!
