Jeff, the owner of the company came out promptly to give me an estimate and worked my job into his schedule because I had just closed on the house and wanted to have the floors refinished before I moved in. He accomplished everything within our timeline and worked around other contractors that needed access to the house too. The floors look better than brand new and I am really pleased with the way they turned out. The price was reasonable and I was also give a discount for being an angie's list member. Would recommend to anyone considering having their floors refinished. Plus the dust was very minimal because of the vacuum system he uses. Great work!

After living with old carpet for too many years, we took the plunge to have the carpet removed and to have our floors re-finished. Jeff came out to discuss and give us a bid. He explained the process, the material he uses, and his equipment, which is designed to keep dust from flying--and indeed it worked. After a week of work, there was not a day when there was dust in the house - after all the warnings we had of what a mess such a job would make, it made none. While Jeff's bid was not the lowest we had, we had confidence in his professionalism, experience, and his overall approach. I can say that the finished floors are absolutely beautiful, and I was fully satisfied with the work.

He was exceptionally clean, he did what he said he was going to do and the floor is great.

I checked them out on Angie’s List. Mr. Hough is the owner and he came out. He was very professional and had very professional equipment. What was really nice was that there was no dust. They didn’t have to use sheets of plastic and everything. His machinery had vacuum attachments; so it picks up all the dust on the floor as he goes along. He did a very professional job. He was also helpful and I didn’t have to remove the baseboards and things like that. He was fast and did a good job. The only thing about him was that before we got things set up, it was tough getting responses from him. That maybe because he had a death in the family and that was something that he had to deal with. I also referred him to my neighbor who wants to use his services. He charged me about $500. My overall experience was very good. The price was competitive. It wasn’t the lowest bid, but it was within a reasonable range. The quality of his work was excellent He had some special equipment that the other vendors didn’t have. While cleaning the floors, the brush or the paper rotates from the front to the back. He also had another piece of equipment that had three heads. So, it was multi directional. When they did the floor, it didn’t leave streaks just in one direction and it spun around. It also allowed him to go in many different directions on the floor and it was a big and heavy 250 pound machine. When he told me he had that equipment, I decided to spend a couple of more bucks to make sure it gets done right because hardwood floors can’t be done too often. He did a good job. He had to go to Michigan overnight since he had a death in the family. So, it was beyond his control. What was nice was that he took the time when he brought the equipment in to protect the floor. He didn’t drag it across. He had a dolly that looked like a big bicycle wheel. So, it had soft rubber. He dragged the 250 pound machine and didn’t tear up the floor or anything. People have looked at his work. In fact, someone down the street is going to use his services.

The experience was excellent. I originally planned to recarpet several rooms in my home, but upon removing the carpet and padding, discovered solid oak flooring underneath and decided to explore what it would cost to restore the original wood. I initially heard about Hardwood Elegance through Angie's List and contacted them because of their high rating. With the work now done, I understand why they rate so highly with their customers. Bob responded to my inquiry and visited my home a to look at the floors. They are solid oak strips with approximately half having been finished when the house was built in the 1960's, and the other half unfinished with fairly extensive paint and stain spatter hidden by the carpet. Tack strips left many holes in the wood along all walls. There was also a fair amount of animal related staining from previous owners. Bob thoroughly explained their process and described their scope of work, particularly their dustless sanding equipment, and the repair process which includes filling holes from tack strips and gouges. He noted areas where the refinishing process might not remove all staining, and in general clearly explained what I could expect. He worked with me on a three-phase schedule for completing the work that allowed for shifting furniture, accessing the kitchen and bathrooms, etc. throughout the refinishing process. Each phase took four-five days including three days in which finish was applied. The floors look beautiful---much better than I expected and virtually all the stain marks were removed. The floors are smooth, level and the satin finish has a nice glow without being too shiny. And by the way, it really is a virtually dustless system---I was very impressed by how little there was to clean up, which Bob did each day before he left for home. During the time Bob was working, I had other contractors in the house and he was very considerate in working around them. He was on time, responsive and pleasant. He also provided some extra urethane for my carpenters to use on baseboards and other trim. The price was reasonable and exactly what was originally quoted---worth every penny and then some. If you want to have wood floors refinished, Jeff and Bob are the ones to do it. In the future, I won't bother contacting anyone else.

Outstanding. We had several estimates from top-rated Angie's List companies, but Jeff's was the lowest (after his discount for Angie's List members) and he offered the dustless sanding as part of the regular service. The dustless sanding was a huge bonus - I have spoken to people that tell me they paid up to $2.50 per square foot EXTRA for the dustless sanding, and Jeff's price was less than that for the whole projsct. He worked around our schedule, and was very efficient. When I walked in the house on Day 1 after he finished, there was absolutely NO dust anywhere - nothing extra to clean or deal with - what a plus! Most important, though, his service was outstanding. He recognizes that it is a big hassle to move out of your house for a week, including all furniture, clothes in closets, curtains, etc. and he makes sure you know what to do to prepare, what the timing will be, and all of the details to make it easier. He shows up on time, communicates frequently, and works hard! His quality is outstanding and he truly is an expert. The end result was fantastic and we couldn't be more pleased. This is a project we have put off for years, and now that it's done, we wonder why we did not do it sooner. It was reasonably priced for the end result, and Jeff made it as easy as possible. I've already given his name to several friends and neighbors and we would definitely use him again in our next house.

I can't say enough good things about Hardwood Elegance Flooring. We were trying to get one house ready to sell and move into another and needed the floors refinished in both houses--it was a stressful time and we were working on tight deadlines. Jeff and Bob made the whole refinishing process easy--and our floors look fantastic. They are terrific professionals and know their craft. Their dustless process really is dustless. The entire process went entirely according to schedule, and it was always really easy to get in touch with Jeff and coordinate schedules, etc. Plus they are really just nice guys. My son put a hole in the wall of the new house (!) while we were moving. Bob brought his drywall tools and repaired it for us free-of-charge. I had a couple of estimates--very, very glad I went with Hardwood Elegance Flooring.

They did an outstanding job with regard to their process, timing, color matching and overall workmanship. Their dust free process if really just that, dust free. This project took approx 3 weeks and they came in on time, on budget. Our house looks the best its ever looked and we will continue to use them in the future. I highly recommend them to anyone who is either refinishing or installing new hardwood floors!

Little to no dust anywhere. Floors went from very ugly to pretty nice. This non-tranditional coloring method blended/hid most of the ugly spots that existed due the house's previous owners. Very nice and professional person.

I was looking for someone to refinish my living room hard wood floor and possibly the steps also. Had to call the company a couple times before someone finally came out. A man came out to my house to give an estimate. He took down some measurements and we talked about what I wanted done. He gave me a few options to think about and said he would send me the estimates but he did'nt and I never heard from him again.

I will not use this company. If they do not have the professional courtesy to even return a phone call, I question the professionalism of their services.

From the call for an estimate to the last day of work, this company was excellent. I called for an estimate on a Friday and Jeff came to my house the next day. Due to a cancellation in their schedule, Bob was able to begin the work the very next Tuesday. Their bid was only matched by one other company. The floors are beautiful and I am very pleased with the work. I never had to hire someone to do this kind of work before so I was not sure what to expect but Jeff and Bob surpassed even my jaded view of service professionals. I have showed off my floors to friends and neighbors and they all agree that the job was very well done. One neighbor even asked for the contact information, one look and they were convinced to call Jeff without looking around for other companies.

We found Hardwood Elegance on Angie's List and called from Seattle to schedule the work on a home we had just purchased in Upper Arlington. We found Jeff and worked with him from Seattle while he started the job here on a home we would be moving in to later this summer. We found him to be very responsive, have great advice, very attentive to detail and now the floors look amazing. The equipment they use is really key to the good experience. Having your floors sanded and yet no sawdust is remarkable. He worked on a holiday weekend and got the job done very quickly. They were patient with our 4 year old boy and very easy to have around. Overall, couldn't have been a better experience. Most importantly, the floors look better than we expected. Great job guys!

Jeff did a great job on our old hardwood floor and the price was the lowest of all the bids. He was professional and provided the service we were looking for. The time frame given was spot on and he took care of all of our worries about fixing and refinishing the 50 year old floor.

One of the best features of their work is that they do not create a lot of dust. I stayed in the house the whole time they were sanding the floors. It was noisy but not full of dust. Bob is very friendly and works quickly. Jeff did a nice job putting down more wood for us and tying it into the existing kitchen so that is looks as if it were always there. We love it.

Floors turned out AMAZING! Just the right amount of shine. Very rich color. Wanted to compliment Bob, who completed all work on the floors. He is very talented and sincerely interested in having the floors come out perfect. and it shows! His attention to detail made a big difference in the quality of work on our floors. He is also friendly and extremely neat/clean. When he left the place was immaculate! Surprisingly no dust, despite sanding that occurred. We are 100% satisfied. Thanks!

I contacted four companies from Angie's list to get estimates. Jeff was by far the easiest to communicate with. He always answered his phone, and he was on time for his estimate. One company I contacted was impossible to get a hold of, and another would not even refinish my floors because they were the thinner 3/8" boards. Jeff was up front about some of the issues that exist with sanding thinner material, but he was willing to take the job. He also had the best price of the two estimates I was able to get. A+ for good communication, competitive pricing and quality work.

We had been warned that job would take most of the week, to allow for proper curing between coats of finish. Bob was a delight to work with, punctual, careful and professional. He is knowledgeable about his specific area of expertise, as well as general rennovation/construction which was helpful in repairing some of butcher block, replacing sink, etc., as part of the job. Saved us from having to bring in somebody else to do that work. He hung plastic to keep dust out of rest of house and cleaned up daily before he left. Bob is bright/interesting and easy to have around. Finished products are really nice.

We were very pleased with the work that Bob completed to refinish our floors. He was very professional and respectful. The finished product is lovely, and we're very happy. I regret that I didn't specify how long it would take the job to be completed; that was my error, not theirs. I would highly recommend working with this vendor!

Jeff and Bob were always punctual and did a good job on the floors (I have two different type of wood floors in my home). When they were finished they both met with me and answered all the questions I had about the work they performed and how to maintain the condition of my floors. When I saw footprints in the floor due to a family member having walked on them before they were completely dry; Bob came back and worked to get the footprints out even though it was through no fault of his own that they were there.

Extremely well. I have never experienced a more punctual contractor. He was always very professional and polite and performed the job at a very high standard in the time it was planned. He explained all pros and cons in fine detail, i.e. he took his time to explain things.

This is the 3rd or 4th time we have used this company's service. The two rooms completed for this job were the last 2 rooms in our home to be refinished. As with previous service, Jeff did a fantastic job and we are pleased with the final result. Jeff was accommodating to schedule the work around another remodeling project we had going on at the time.

Jeff had done two other floors for us in 2007 and he made a special effort to work with our tight time schedule for this job. .
