Jeff is a true craftsman! He and Bob did a terrific job refinishing the floors in our 1940's era house. They seamlessly repaired a spot in the family room that had 3 different widths of wood. Jeff helped me select a stain color that was current but would work well into the future. When friends come to visit, the first thing they notice is the floors! I highly recommend Hardwood Elegance.

I called hardwood Elegance, talked to Jeff, the owner, on the first call and had an appointment scheduled for the next day to look at the job. He showed up on time to take measurements and discuss issues and potential trouble spots since it was an older floor that had stains, nail holes, carpet marks, etc. Within five days of the meeting I had a firm quote emailed to me. We talked again and agreed on a date to start and a timeline for the work. The job was scheduled to start on October 29th. Jeff called a couple days early to ask if he could get started early. That was no problem for our schedule, so again we set a time and he showed up as expected. Jeff worked throughtout the next week, and the job was completely finished on November 3rd as we agreed. The floors look beautiful. He gave me recommendations for maintaining the floors, I paid him, and the job is complete.

The hardwood floors of our newly built house, as finished by the builder, looked terrible and were unacceptable. There were extensive "chatter" marks in the wood from the poor sanding equipment he used, not to mention streaks in the thick polyurethane finish. Needless to say, we were extremely unhappy to have to delay our move into our new house and were very careful about who we hired to resand and repair our floors. With our first bad experience, we had learned about all that could go wrong if you don't use the right company, so we knew what to look for and what questions to ask when choosing the company to repair our new (but damaged) floors. After reading the many favorable reviews of Hardwood Elegance on Angie's List and seeing the company's own description of the special sanding equipment they use to give a smooth finish, we set up an appointment with Jeff right away. Jeff was very prompt, friendly, and above all, knowledgeable. After extensively interviewing him, viewing his previous work, and interviewing other companies, we felt very comfortable that Jeff was the right person for the job. We are so glad we found him! Our entire house is hardwood except for the bedrooms and their associated bathrooms, so getting them right was very important to us. I'm pleased to say that they turned out beautiful. What a difference the right finish makes! It's hard to believe they are the same floors. As an educated customer, I feel comfortable giving Hardwood Elegance my highest recommendation.

This was the 3rd time I have had these floors refinished in 22 years, and was the best experience of the 3. Jeff came and provided our estimate and recommended applying 3 coats of finish because we have big dog. Their quotation was not the lowest, nor the highest, but the lower quotes included 2 coats. An additional benefit of Hardwood Elegance is they use a sander that is nearly dustless, and we didnt have to cover everything in plastic (as we would have had to do with the other firms). This work required 4 days to complete. They were very accomodating and worked with us to schedule it for a week while we were on vacation, since we needed to be out of the house due to the fumes from the finish. When we arrived home, the floors looked wonderful. We would definitely hire them again.

Outstanding, Flooring is 50 years old and had never been refinished. Jeff made recommendations that I went with although I wasn't sure I would like it. Well, I loved the way they looked; and, and they amount of work to get them there was just right. He worked hard to accommodate my schedule since I now live out of state. The house sold the first weekend and the floors had a lot to do with that. I whole heartedly recommend.

Fantastic. We were out of town for the first part in August. Passed along a key, he and his team were in and out, didn't disturb anything outside of the floors, and we arrived home to gorgeous "new" wood floors. Two bedrooms left after the first part; it would have been difficult to do those with the hall and other rooms and one had the aforementioned horrible green carpet to contend with. Since we only had two bedrooms left after the first visit, we waited to be fit into Jeff's busy schedule (we knew about the wait ahead of time, no worries), and were able to get the rooms cleared out over a weekend to be refinished the following week. A tip? Try to be out of the house when getting floors refinished. The smell is strong, and we were lucky to get ours done in the random warm week this October so windows could be open. The results are just as wonderful as the other rooms. Reasonable cost, very punctual, and very tidy in work and clean-up - and I'm a neat freak! I rated responsiveness with a 'B' because I'm very particular about communication, and there was some difficulty getting in touch at times, but it all worked out. We've had neighbors and friends over and raved about the floors and about Hardwood Elegance. If I could put a big red "Use this company" arrow next to their Angie's List listing I would. Great experience!

Jeff and team were great - he worked with a very limited timeframe that we had before our move-in, and the floors look gorgeous. He was great to work with - very responsive and open with recommendations about how to keep the floors shining. There was almost no dust at all (as opposed to some horror stories we'd heard). We've received countless compliments on how great they look - provide a really striking visual when people come over. Hire Jeff - you won't be disappointed!

Jeff came out to give us an estimate during our home inspection. He also educated us on different flooring options & pointed us in the direction of some reputable flooring stores to view samples. Once we reached a final decision on the specific flooring we wanted, Jeff placed the order & coordinated the delivery. The quality of the install was outstanding & timely. He also cleaned up very well so the house was move-in ready. We couldn't be happier with the floors & with Jeff.

Jeff Hough was extremely accommodating. I needed an estimate on looks in a house I had bought and was going to move into. I wanted the floors done before I moved. He had to come out twice to do an estimate due to an error on my part. He was ver good natured about that. The floors were in bad shape, dirty, dark stains, etc. After Jeff finished, the floors actually glow and look new. I am having Jeff come back and install wood flooring in my living room. He is a meticulous craftsman.

Amazing!!! We received several quotes and they were all very similar, but I do believe Hardwood Elegance was on the lower end, but in speaking with the, they really seemed to know what they were doing and answered all of my questions and concerns up front. It was a large job and we were under a tight timeline to prepare for our move in date. They worked very hard to make sure it was perfect and to really ensure we would be pleased with the finished product. The floors are incredible. The color and matte finish are perfect and we could not be more pleased. Bob and Jeff were a pleasure to work with and are true craftsmen. I would definitely refer anyone to them and we will absolutely use them in the future.

I called several companies in regards to having my floors refinished. Jeff Hough from Hardwood Elegance responded quickly. He came to my house within a day and gave me an estimate. I didn't have much time to get the job done and told him I needed it completed in the next couple weeks. Jeff was very flexible and worked within my time frame, job lasted less then five days. The floors looked amazing after he was finished. I would definitely recommend him. I really appreciated the fact that there weren't any extra cost after he started.

I had some pretty gnarly Clintonville hardwood floors that need a make over. Jeff was professional, friendly and honest about the job. He provided a quote in a timely manner and completed the job in the exact amount of time he said he would. I'd use him again in heartbeat and would recommend him to anyone looking to work with a good guy with integrity. When the job was done there was no dust or dirt and the floors were absolutely stunning.

First of all, Jeff came out the day I called him for an estimate. As I write this, some companies I called took three days to respond! We had purchased a new home and were trying to get all of the work done before we moved in so time was critical. We had a poorly stained and finished floor from prior owners, old finish bubbling up, bad staining and refinishing in the kitchen, urine stains that had been hiding under area rugs and water damage by the windows that came from the planters the prior owner had there. Our goal was a high quality refinish with a dark (walnut) stain that matched (even across the two types of oak) throughout the entire first floor. Jeff knew exactly how to handle this situation. He started the next week. He did a fantastic job and explained some of the techniques he used to get an oak floor to accept a dark stain. He was able to address the urine stains, the water damage and granted our wish of a first floor that looks like it's all the same wood, beautifully refinished. His attention to detail was great. He communicated each day by text with an update or to ask a question. He got the job done on schedule and on short notice! We couldn't be happier with Jeff and the job he did! I would highly recommend this company.

These guys did a great job. I highly recommend them based on their quality and quickness. They were willing to go beyond and make sure we were happy with the work. They also helped us move the furniture back into the room, which is something I did not expect them to do.

Jeff came to inspect my floors for refinishing. He was probably the most knowledgeable and experienced of the three guys I had come out. He is very passionate about what he does, and I'm sure does each job as if it was his own house. The work our new home needed turned out to be more than we anticipated, so we hired a GC to do the whole house, and he wanted to use his own team. That's the only reason we didn't hire Jeff, if I ever have to call someone for floor repairs/photofinishing, Hardwood Elegance is the first call I'm making. Only area for improvement would be Jeff's follow up, he never reached out to me after the initial walk through, where his competitors all called me the following day/week. But overall enjoyed meeting him and would highly recommend.

We left them to the house while we were on vacation. They use a "dustless" sander to avoid messing the house. Although there were traces of dust, I was pleasantly surprised. Most other contractors have to put up plastic sheeting to isolate the working area from the rest of the house. We moved all the furniture from the flooring. They used an air lift to lift the refrigerator off the floor and move it to a carpeted area. It was neat to see. When we returned from vacation on the following Sunday after they started, they were just wrapping up. We were stunned at the beauty of the work. WOW!!

The company's estimator addressed all our concerns about possible dust and odor and explained some alternatives to complete refinishing. We elected to use their service and we are happy that we did, because the results are excellent. The technician, Bob, was prompt, very friendly, and neat. He was also willing to work around our schedules. There was no stray dust and the odor was easily controlled with a window fan. We would certainly use the company again and recommend them to others.

Jeff did an excellent job. He takes obvious pride in his work. He is a craftsman not a technician. Instead of buying off the shelf threshold transitions to go from room to room where I had tile floors Jeff custom cut oak floor boards that taper down to the tile. The end product looks great! I plan on use Jeff to do more. I am a contractor myself, right-of-way street work, so I appreciate when I find a professional who likes what he does, shows up when he says he will, and does it right.

My brother and I were getting ready to sell our mother's house. There were beautiful hardwood floors on the main level, but carpeting on the upper level. On the advice of our real estate agent, we took up the carpet. The house had been converted from a three bedroom to a two bedroom and when the carpet was removed, we discovered that there was no hardwood where the old walls had been. The total area involved was 22 square feet. No problem, we thought. We'll just get someone to patch the floor. I did some research on Angie's list and selected three highly recommended companies and contacted them via Angie's list. Hardwood Elegance responded quickly and we made arrangements to meet later that afternoon (for the record, of the other two companies contacted, one called me back a couple of days later and the other never contacted me). I met with Bob who was quickly able to assess the situation. The bad news was that the small patch we were hoping for wasn't doable because the floorboards in each of the old bedrooms didn't line up. Bob and I spent some time kicking around ideas (it's nice to work with someone who doesn't have an agenda and is willing to work with you to find the best solution). We decided to replace a section of the upstairs floor that couldn't be patched and sand and refinish the entire upstairs so that the new floor blended with the old floor (the house in question is about 60 years old, so the existing hardwood floors had a fair amount of ware. Jeff (the other guy at Hardwood Elegance) got me an itemized quote. Bob indicated that removing the old floor was pretty easy and that my brother and I could do it ourselves if we wanted. We elected to do that and saved $450 (how many companies will tell you when you can do something yourself to save money?). Bob even lent us a tool that was particularly effective at taking up the old floor. The installation and refinishing took a week. Bob was there everyday working on the floor, which is a refreshing change from some other companies that seem to show up for work whenever they feel like it. A week might sound like a long time and it is. But Bob was meticulous. The installed wood was done perfectly. He sanded with 36 grit, sanded with 60 grit and then sanded with 100 grit. After the sanding the entire floor - old and new - was as smooth as a baby's bottom. Then came the polyurethane - three coats. Bob laid down the first coat, came back the next day and sanded then laid down the second coat. He came back the third day (which was a Saturday!) and finished the job. The floor looks spectacular. The only thing I can ding these guys on is responsiveness. I had to email them a couple of times to get the updated quote I was expecting. I also ask them to quote some additional work, which they never did. Overall, my experience with Hardwood Elegance was awesome and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done and really cares about how things turn out.

They were not real prompt in getting back to us with the quote. It took them two more weeks to get back after they said that they would get back on the next day. So I was pretty disappointed with that. I would not get back to them or use them.

Everything went fine and the floors ae still flat and look great

I called Jeff to schedule an estimate and left a message; he returned my call the same day and we made arrangements for him to give an estimate on a Saturday which worked best for my work schedule. Jeff was prompt on the Saturday taking measurements and explaining his process for refinishing our floors. Our job is a big one in that it was almost our entire main level in our house so I had questions about being able to stay in the house during the work, etc. Jeff was patient and answered all of my questions. Early the following week I received an email written estimate for the job and I ultimately scheduled it with Jeff, again he worked around our busy schedules. We had a couple of week wait to have our job done, but when the days approached we moved all furniture from the hardwood floor area, cleaned out all of the carpets, etc. This was the most difficult part! The morning our job was started, Bob who actually did the work on our floor was prompt arriving at 8:30 as he scheduled with me the night before he started the work. I walked him through and answered any questions. My husband was out of town and I quickly turned my home over to Bob for the next 5 days as I went out of town as well. Bob worked on the floors while we were away and he called me a couple of times to provide updates and to let me know when I could return home that Sunday. Day 1 Bob moved the refrigerator, stove and the toilet in the half bath per the quote. Once that was complete, Bob spent the remaining part of the day sanding! And I have to say, the dust was hardly noticable when I returned. There was a very light coating - everything did need to be dusted - but it was much less than what I expected to find. Day 2 Bob finished sanding and then started refinishing the floors. Days 3 and 4 were light sanding and more finish. Day 5, once dry, Bob returned to my house and moved the refrigerator & stove back to their location and reinstalled the toilet. I returned to my home Sunday afternoon to beautiful hardwood floors!! We couldn't be happier. We have a golden retriever at our house and he's still running around the floors and I haven't noticed any marks he's left in the new floors. Also, we are thankful to have had nice weather as of late to open the windows and help air out the odors from the floor finish. Thank you Jeff & Bob for our beautiful hardwood floors. I will absolutely have you back the next time we need our hardwood floors done. I highly recommend!

Jeff's company had refinished the hardwood in two bedrooms and repaired a poorly done patch job in our previous house and did an excellent job. So when we moved into a new house this summer, I knew just who to call. Jeff's quote was extremely reasonable, especially considering the shear square footage to be refinished: the entire house excluding the kitchen and bathrooms is hardwood. The house had had wall to wall carpeting so the floors were in great shape. Jeff refinished and sealed them, and they look beautiful. He discovered that the carpet installers had sliced into the hardwood floor when they cut off the edges of the carpet and he spent a lot of time correcting that. He asked me how I wanted problems with the floor corrected that I hadn't even noticed. His attention to detail is that good. He was very flexible working around the contractor we had removing the wallpaper which I know was inconvenient for him. The biggest challenge we had for Jeff was providing some new boards for the floor where we opened up the wall between the entryway and dining room. Jeff was able to find two boards that were a similar grain and color to the existing hardwood. He fit them so seamlessly (and straight) into the floor that you barely notice that the opening wasn't always there. Also, the entryway of the house had a kind of rubber tile glued down on top of the hardwood. My husband pulled up the tile and scraped up the glue as best he could, but there was still some glue and black fabric stuck to the hardwood. Jeff spent a lot of time recovering this floor which also required more work to clean and repair his machine because of the glue. He has added a lot of value to my home from all his hard work; I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

This job took 4 days to complete. The first day Jeff prepared the floor (cleaning and sanding) and removed closet doors and the BR door. On each of the next three days, 1 coat of oil based polyurethane was applied in morning which allowed enough drying time to be able to withstand minimal foot traffic in the late afternoon. The last coat was applied on a Friday, Then after 3 days furniture could be placed back on the floor surface. The carpet in the BR had been removed many months prior. I emptied both closets as needed for floor access as well as the BR furniture. Jeff removed the doors and part of a wire closet organizer. He came back after the job was completed to verify I was pleased and to collect payment. The floor looks great! All the tack holes and sharp cuts in the fIoor have disappeared and the floor looks like new. I had Jeff take measurements for a second BR I would like to have refinished in near future.

The sub contractor working for Jeff installed the wrong color floor and it was corrected and installed quickly. Jeff cares for the environment and recycles his polyurethane cans.
