Description of Work: Dan was recommended by a lighting company as the guy they use. He came out on Aug. 18 to look over our small job of installing 4 can lights and finishing the drywall where they would be installed. We passed on him priming and painting because of cost. He said he would email a quote. |We received a quote on Aug 19: |4 -6 inch recessed can lights, white baffle trim, r 30 incandescent bulb. $340., Drywall repair. $95., Service call charge. $35., No primer or paint included in this price., Total $470. |We called Dan to schedule the service on Aug 20. He said he would get back to us. | |While we waited for his call we looked him up on Angie's List. He had mixed reviews but ok. Angie's list said he had no service fee. |I called Dan in a week to see when we might be scheduled and to ask him if his service fee was something new. Dan said he was busy and would get back us on a date and that he "didn't know anything about Angie's List." |Dan called a few days later to schedule for Sept 5 and apologize for the Angie's List comment. |Dan and his assistant came on time, installed the 4 cans, and finished the drywall in about 2 hours. I showed Dan a printout of his Angie's List "no service fee" page and review comments. All he said was "I'll have to call them. I can't keep up with everything. I'm so busy there are people I haven't called back yet." He didn't waive the service fee, which I thought would be smart customer service. His work was adequate, his communication and customer service not so much, hence the "B".

I had a vent cover (I didn't realize at the time there were actually two vents to cover) so I just left it out on my front step for him to pick up and use. Since he saw there were two that needed covering, he covered the other with a cover he had on hand which was very nice. He was able to come out and get it done two days after I called.
Description of Work: Installed a couple vent covers over restroom exhaust vents out of the wall of the house. These vents are on the 2nd floor and difficult to reach.

+ -1 moreI own a rental home in Reynoldsburg, and live out of state. I called Mr. Loken to see if he could help fix a smoke detector in the rental home that kept going off. He went that day to the home to meet with the tenant and determined the problem. He was able to stop the alarm from going off and find the cause of the situation. He needed to replace the entire smoke detector and had to go up to the Polaris area to get a new one. He was very accomodating for me and my tenants. He came back the next day to install the new smoke detector. Being out of state, Mr. Loken will now become my Handyman for any service need that may arise.
Description of Work: Replacement of a hardwired smoke detector.

Description of Work: They installed two ceiling fans and an electrical outlet. They also ran cable for the entire house as the previous owners had removed all the jacks. They also wired for an undercabinet kitchen TV. In addition, they ran wire for speakers in a family room. They also ran cable to install at TV in a garage work area.

+ 0 moreDan was initially recommended as an electrician by two friends, independant of one another. He scheduled a meeting for inspection, showed up on time, worked quickly and provided an estimate that I considered very reasonable. When he showed up to do the job he was punctual and efficient. He worked continuously, including a large portion of outdoor work in falling snow. He cleaned up after himself before calling me down to inspect the work, which was very professionally done. We next called Dan after experiencing a kitchen fire. He came to quote on electrical work, but when I learned he had started a remodeling business I requested a quote. He took notes, measurements and discussed the project with me. He returned a proposal promptly and received the contract. Dan met me to select fixtures, cabinets and flooring, working with the salesperson to ensure that nothing was overlooked and that all items were of the correct dimensions. Dan scheduled the project and met that schedule. He did not work multiple jobs while working on our kitchen and bath. I would highly recommend Dan Loken for any project and will certainly not hesitate to select him for future work in my own home.
Description of Work: Our first encounter with Dan was the upgrade of electrical service in our house. He replaced the electrical meter and relocated and replaced the service (circuit breaker) box. He added an additional junction box for power to the washer/dryer. Our second encounter with Dan was a complete remodeling of our kitchen and bathroom.

+ -1 moreFor my parents, earlier this year he gutted and remodeled their bathroom. They only have 1 bath in their small house but he worked out an arrangement with them to accommodate not having a bath for awhile, and then he worked quickly to restore normalcy to their house. He had done small stuff for us prior to their bathroom remodel (ceiling fan installation etc), but we didn't hesitate to call him when my parents needed their work done. Both families are very satisfied with his work, professionalism, and responsiveness. No doubt we will use him again, and so will my parents. My parents recently sought a quote from him for a second bathroom project. He will also be finishing our basement next year. He's very good about offering ideas to you if you need them.
Description of Work: For us, he has done a number of small projects but recently he installed a utility sink in our basement, a ceiling fan and fixed a leaking shower faucet. For my parents he gutted and remodeled their full bath.

+ 3 moreHe is very particular about his work. Everything he has done he has done well. He is quick to resolve any issues. He cleans up and gives wonderful suggestions. He will work with what you need in just about anything. I will continue to use him.
Description of Work: He has done all sorts of work for me, installing a screen door, some bathroom work. He has done general electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work. He has worked on some floors, hung pictures and ceiling fixtures etc.
