All About Hardwood

All About Hardwood provided a competitive bid with their other top rated Angie's List companies. However, what set them apart was their personal touch during the process. They were more than happy to come out and do a test sand/stain to help determine what was the best stain for my home. Throughout the process they were very prompt on checking in and communicating. Highly recommended.

They did an excellent job, and I am very happy with them. They were the lowest bid of three companies and I would use then again in the future.

Sooo we raised two French bulldogs on our living room carpet from puppies over a 2 year period. During that time the floor saw its fair share of spills, accidents and stains. Our house was built in the 60s so we were pretty sure we had hardwoods under the carpet besides our hallway kitchen and dining room floors were also hardwood. Only our living room was carpeted besides our bedrooms, basement and guest bathroom (Tile). We pulled up that nasty carpet and padding and exposed our hardwoods which were in great condition except one board. We removed all the nails hammered into the floor and wanted to get it sanded and refinished to match the rest of the house. All of this needed to be done soon because our daughter was 8 months at the time and we didn’t want her crawling on that nasty carpet. I reviewed this company on Angie’s List and read a lot of reviews about the difficulty of getting a hold of somebody at this location. But I also took notice at how many great reviews they had for their service. I decided to call anyway and as expected the first few times I didn’t get anybody, only the answering machine. I left a vmsg and within a few days Doug called me back. We arranged a time to get an estimate and he showed up on time and was nice, polite and knew his hardwoods. Doug walked us through what would be done and how long it would take. Doug pointed out our trouble spots that we didn’t know we had and educated us on proper care to make our hardwood last. We take our dogs out the back and over time the wood was turning colors b/c the finish was gone. My wife and I decided to get the living room, hallway, dining room and kitchen all sanded, stained and refinished. I think it took a total of 3 - 4 days altogether. Once complete the floors looked incredible. Before we ripped up the carpet we believe the floors were stained once before b/c the area where the carpet used to be was a different stain than the rest of the hardwoods. Doug’s team did a great job. The floor looks whole and all trouble spots have been repaired. There were some nails that we couldn’t get to when we ripped up the carpet b/c they were either broken into the wood or didn’t have enough exposed to pull them out. Doug’s team took care of it all. My wife and I were very impressed. After the job was complete we found some trouble spots. Nothing out of the ordinary but normal things such as the wood splintering where it had been sanded. We knew this was normal b/c if you sand down wood enough, parts of the grain can get very thin and splinter up. I was afraid that after we paid for our service that we wouldn’t hear back from Doug if we had issues. I left a voice message as before and Doug called me back within a couple of days. He wanted me to send pictures and to use posted notes on the area’s that we saw trouble. He wanted us to use posted notes so we wouldn’t damage the wood any further but also to have an easy point of ref to find the spots again. Doug sent out another member of his team who also was very experienced with floors. He fixed our trouble spots within an hour of arriving and told us to call with any more problems that may come up. We haven’t had any thus far. We are very pleased with the service. I noted that it took few calls to get a hold of somebody but Doug was always polite and courteous and got back to us within a reasonable amount of time. He apologized for any delays in calling us back. I understand that sometimes calls and time can easily get away from us and since I read other reviews referencing had no problem being patient. I was pleased that Doug treated me with respect and got back to me as soon as he could. If you are considering this company keep that in mind and give them some reasonable time to get back with you. I got a quote from another hardwood company around the same time and the guy never called me back. Doug did and so he got my business. We would definitely do business with them again or refer them to friends and family.

Doug was very professional and honest in providing me with estimates on finishing my hardwood floors. He seemed very knowledgeable of what I needed done and it seemed like he didn't try to sell me services that I didn't need. I only got an estimate from him, but when I need my hardwood floors done, I would definitely use his services.

These guys were top-notch! I chose them based on Angie's List feedback and I was not disappointed. Doug was competitive but I would have been wiling to pay more for someone else if I hadn't felt so confident in him (very detail-oriented). Steve tore out our tile/carpet and laid down the new hardwood. He was awesome! We were getting our countertops done around the same time and the difference in professionalism and attention to detail between the two companies was incredible - Steve took his time and made sure everything was perfect. The sanders/stainers also did an excellent job. They were done on time and the floor looks beautiful! I heard that it was a great company to work for and I can really see that come through in the guys' workmanship. Very, Very Happy!

We were called a couple of days before the scheduled date to confirm the dates and time. Doug's crew showed up as scheduled and proceeded to begin the process. When showing us what the different stains would look like we decided to have All About Hardwood to refinish the upstairs hallway so we could have an uniform color. The overall process was excellent, the workmen were professional and kept us informed about progress and what to expect the next day. The overall result was outstanding! We plan to have the rest of the upstairs done 1Q2013 so that the color is uniform throughout the upstairs. I would recommend Doug Hall and "All About Hardwood" to anyone who is interested in refinishing their hardwood floors. They are prompt, professional and GOOD! Go with the best!

You should know that if you do not get pre-finish hardwood installed you should plan on leaving the house while they sand and stain. Anything I asked to get done they were willing to work with me. The workers with the company have very good work ethic. My only complaint is they did not order enough wood and the pieces of wood they picked up at the shop (leftovers) were not the best quality. That being said however, I was extremely happy from start to finish. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a high quality job!

All About Hardwood sanded, cleaned, sealed the floor in 3 days. The work is spectacular and has taken 23 years of wear out of the floor leaving it looking better than new. The service man was the same person all three day and he took care to deliver great results. He also provided an after-treatment care package and instructions. I recommend their work highly.

I called the listed phone number, for All About Hardwood, three times between 07-12-2012 and and 07-14-2012. I also left a clear voice mail with my name, home phone number, and a request for a quote for installation of hardwood floor on my second attempt. Mr. Hall has never bothered to respond to date so I awarded the contract to another craftsman who came highly recommended by the company that supplied my hardwood flooring materials. The gentleman and his crew were extremely professional and did an outstanding floor job on my kitchen, dining room, living room, and foyer. I understand that a busy contractor is usually a good contractor, but I would also suggest that Mr. Hall show a little courtesy and respect to prospective clients who invest a great deal of time reading and weighing reviews from other members on Angie's List. A simple return phone call would have been nice.

Overall great job. Doug was extremely courteous and very responsive in following up. He was extremely punctual when scheduling the job (I was actually late to the original estimate, sorry Doug). I had a few floor boards that needed to be cleaned up, which were done. A few of the other floor boards had stains that we thought would come up with the stripping, however it turns out the markings were a little more permanent. After they stripped and laid down the first layer of stain, I noticed that one of the areas still had markings. Doug was extremely responsive and had his people come back and redo those floor boards at an extremely responsible price. We were able to get the job done in the original timeline. Thanks guys!

They were VERY professional Hardwood Flooring Company.... They came out and pretty much dealt with me ,but the floor was installed for my Daughter.. The owner is the one who came out measured and quoted the price, which my daughter found fair and a great value.. They did real good. My daughter is really happy with her new floors. They did everything she wanted. She even asked them to delay it a couple of days and they worked with her saying it was fine so she could work the flooring around her vacation...My daughter already had hardwood floors in her entryway. and hall but wanted to add it to her kitchen and family room.. All about Hardwood did a wonderful job , Steve the job Foreman installed the Wood and matched it up that you can't tell the old floor to the new floor.. What a great job he did... We wondered how the sanding in house would be but I must say we were impressed how we really couldn't tell about the sanding but just a little bit.. All About Hardwood did a Great job and we would recommend them on Angies List..

Returned my phone call once. I left a total of 4 more messages asking him to call back. No response. If you are not interested in my business or its too small of a job - fair enough, please let me know and I'l go away. But please respect your customers time.

They looked at it and gave us an estimate. He gave us an estimate with options and we told him what we wanted. He scheduled two visits, one to strip and one to install.

1. Prompt turn around from the time I called and left a message to getting the work scheduled. 2. A little late getting started, but on task and on time. 3. Made no issue of fixing a water stain my son introduced after the floors had been stripped. 4. Floors looked fantastic when finished. 5. Took some time getting back with me after the work was completed to clarify some things.

He was great. He is very nice, polite and knowledgable about his work. He cleans up well and the floor looks very nice. There are never any imperfections that you would need to have him come back to fix. He will also provide you with instructions on how to maintain the floor.

Doug Hall was very responsive and prompt about visiting and providing a very competitive estimate, and arranging prompt scheduling of the work. The work crew worked very hard and were friendly, professional, cooperative, and very neat. Absolutely no complaints about the whole experience, and the outcome was spectacular!

Doug and the entire staff at All About Hardwood are FANTASTIC! They consistently showed up on time, finished the job when promised, cleaned up after themselves, and the floors look wonderful. They are very professional, friendly, and accommodating. I couldn't be more pleased and recommend them without any reservations at all.

The work went very well, from start to finish. Doug Hall came to the house to size up the job and provide a quote. Once I accepted the offer, his crew came out and tore out the existing carpet and linoleum floors. Installing the wood took about a week, but with a job this size that was expected. The floors turned-out to be very nice and Doug was very easy to work with.

They will be installing our floors, but not until next month. The price is good. They actually had hickory wood, which was more durable. It was available, which was good. It was there with a better price than most of we found.

These guys did an awesome job, the price was fair and they kept the dust to a minimum. I have already recommended them to two peopl and I would definitely recommend All About Hardwoods to anyone who asked.

It went well overall. One workman began to walk on my new floor with his muddy sneakers (!) but did remove them upon request. The other workers were professional, prompt, and took time to help us with a few decisons we had to make. The floors look great and I would use this company again.

I contacted ALL ABOUT HARDWOOD by phone and had a quick response after leaving a message. Set a quick appointment with the gentleman who arrived right on time as scheduled. Very pleasant, knowedgable and helpful about what was needed and not needed to complete this job in a professional manner. He advised me to let him know a week in advance of when we were ready for his people to do the job. This was the last contractor to do any work since this was the refinishing of the wood floors. Called, set the time and date and right on schedule, the clean cut, very professional showed up to go to work. The boss on the job explained exactly what we could expect time wise and scheduling for the sanding, staining, and 3 sperate coats of sealer and final coating of polyurethane. Once again, they were right on what they had told me. Once they got started, they sanded a spot and put on 3 different stains which we had previously talked about. After taking a fair amount of time trying to decide, we ask if the could sand another spot near the kitchen cabinets to get a comparison there as well. No problem..........saw what we wanted to see, made the selection. They moved right on schedule and had only 1 slight delay due to humidity (rain for 3 days) and they suggested we wait one day before putting on last coat, which we agreed. We are thrilled with the final job, the workmanship of the trim and the professional manner the job was done. I would HIGHLY recommend ALL ABOUT HARDWOOD to anyone. If needed, I would use than again in a second.

After seeing good reviews for All About Hardwood on Angies' List, I contacted them to give us an estimate to refinish our hardwood floors. Doug Hall came out on Jan. 17th to do the estimate. I received the estimate via email the next day. The estimate was reasonable for the amount of work to be done so we decided to go with them. Since we were scheduling three different companies to do work back-to-back-to-back (painting and installation of shutters/blinds and the floor refinishing), we scheduled the work to be done in March. Doug was very responsive to my questions so I would know what to expect and what I needed to do prior to the work being started. On the morning the work was to begin, the person who was going to do the work (Cole) arrived promptly at the scheduled time. He started by sanding a section of the floor and putting down samples of three stain colors so I could decide which one to go with. By seeing the stain colors on our floor, I was able to get a better feel for what the finished floor would look like. Once I chose the stain color and a finish, I gave him a key and went to work. We stayed in a hotel for a few days while the work was being done as all of our doors opened up onto the hardwood floors and we couldn't walk on them while the work was being done. The work took 5 days and turned out beautifully! I am amazed at how nice the 50+ year old hardwood floors look! They look almost new. Thank you, Doug, Cole, and Matt! You lived up to your good reviews! I would definitely recommend All About Hardwood.
