Response from Home Solutions Handyman
What you did not mention is that the leaking from the door has been addressed – which was the goal of replacing the door in the first place. We installed a new exterior door and had to replace a piece of the sub-flooring just under the door that was water damaged. We installed nailers under the flooring to provide a nailer for the sub-floor piece we installed. The floor joists and band board are providing the flooring support. The nailers are framing pieces and are not finished carpentry work. They are very appropriate for what they do and the job was done correctly. We ask that you not make any adjustments yourself as this could shift the door, potentially cause it to not operate properly and/or cause a leak, and void your warranty. The existing lockset for the door had a bored latch rather that a flanged latch. It did work but was quite worn. A new lockset was not part of the job but we replaced the lockset at our expense. The door was caulked properly. You asked us to caulk the brick molding to the door jamb because you were not going to paint the door for a while – which we did. The door comes from the factory without caulk there and caulking this joint is not normally done because it is so tight and paint will fill the small crack. You said we came back and addressed your concerns and I don’t hear any issues with the door or the installation. The goal was to replace a leaking door and that was accomplished.
