They hired a subcontractor that did not repair the wood work correctly. It delayed the job for several weeks. This job should have taken no more than about one month and ended up taking almost three months. The finished job was fine. Everything was to our satisfaction when the job was complete. We did not pay them until we were satisfied with the work.

This turned out to be a very frustrating and disappointing experience. One of the worse that I have ever gone through. One June 11th I asked for an estimate from CertatPro. On June 24th I met with an estimator and we discussed exactly what we wanted done and specifically what type paint that we want to use - Sherwin Williams Duration. IFor the record, we had gotten three other estimates from other Painters and always received estimates using Duration. On June 25th We received an estimate via email for painting the house but not for the carpenter work which needed to be done. Everything looked fine on the contract and it included Duration paint. On the 29th I sent our contact a request to have an estimate done on what the carpenter work would be. After several attempts I finally received a response stating the carpenter walk through would finally be on July 11th. The carpenter and a different sales rep came and I was told that the original person I had met with was no longer with the company and they had to let him go. We now had a new rep to deal and apparently had not looked at the estimate we had already received. On July 25th I received an updated copy of the proposed contract via email which included the cost for carpenter work and Duration as the paint of choice. This was our second contract each of which stated we would have Duration for our paint. I met one more time with the rep and we discussed the process for painting our house and at which time I signed the contract to start the project thinking that all details previously sent to me twice were the same. This was not the case. The paint to be used had been switched to Sherwin Williams Super Paint which had at NO time been mentioned or discussed with my wife or myself. I signed the contract thinking that it included the same details as had been sent to me twice before. Not so. The paint choice had been changed. and I did not learn of the switch until the actual day of the painting. When I did learn of the switch, I was told that to change to Duration at that time would cost me $1,000 more. I was shocked. An additional $1,000 would price their bid far beyond any other bid I had received from other painters. I would have thought that as a minimum, some responsibility would have been taken by the rep. I had no knowledge of Super Paint so therefore I would have never requested it. . I received no apology -nothing. Just take it or leave it. It was obvious to me that their firing the original rep was at the heart of the mistake. The new rep simply did not read either of the two contracts sent to me or worse yet, he made the switch on purpose hoping I wouldn't catch it because the paint was cheaper. Anyway, Since the crew had already done all prep work and . I didn't have an additional $1,000 so I felt I had to proceed. I am a senior I had hoped that this would be the last time I would need to have my house painted. Duration has a life time warranty where as Super Paint doesn't The house looks good with the Super Paint but only time will tell how long it will really last. In the meantime, I will always be worrying about the potential expense that might be ahead.

Dear Mr. [member name removed]- I have looked into this matter. Your home had numerous layers of existing paint already on it. DURATION paint, because it is so thick, wears the existing paint layers making them fail. If the existing paint layers fail DURATION will fail. If DURATION fails because the previous layers have failed, SHERWIN WILLIAMS will not warranty the paint. We removed Duration from your first bid because we knew that DURATION would make your existing paint layers fail ( which would Void the Duration warranty) and therefore DURATION would fail as well. Therefore we did not want to do the job with Duration. My understanding is that the salesperson discussed this with you. We would be more than happy to visit with you with a Sherwin Williams representative to make you more comfortable with the decision of applying Super Paint to your home and why it was a much better choice than DURATION. Please let me know and I can set up that meeting. Thank you for being a CertaPro Customer Regis Robbins

At first, everything seemed great. Landon contacted me to schedule a quote, came to my house & walked my property to review my project. He gave me a quote on the spot. He seemed to really understand what I was looking for out of this project and the price was right. I had a bad experience with another painter a few years ago who didn't do adequate prep on the peeling paint and it looked bad again a year or two later. Landon assured me they would scrape and sand everything to get good adhesion. He assured me that Hannah from there office would contact me the next day to schedule a date for the painters to start. A week later, I had not heard from them & had to call Landon again. They finally emailed me to schedule a date. I told them I would be out of town the week prior and they said that was fine. The last day of my vacation the painter (not Landon, they use subcontractors) called to say they were at my house and wanted to powerwash. No call in advance to say they were coming 2 days early. Since they said I didn't need to be there I let them do this while I was traveling home from out of state. When I got home there was water pooled all over my hardwood floors where the powerwasher had forced water under my doors. When they arrived the next day to pain they said they didn't know what they were suppose to paint, that Landon's proposals were never clear on the project scope. When I told them what I had talked about with Landon they said that wasn't on the contract and was going to cost more. I told them to do whatever was on the contract then because I wasn't going to pay more. After the first day of painting I walked around my property & it didn?t look like any dropcloths had been used. There were lead paint chips everywhere around my foundation (my husband had to vacuum them up with a shopvac). The painters used my hose to wash all the brushes in my backyard & killed my grass. They left the ladders there overnight. . The next morning one of the painters was using my doormat under his paint can to keep the paint from getting on my Brazilian hardwood decking on my porch (which I guess I should be thankful for). I emailed Certapro & expressed my concern. When I came home that day the work looked a little better and the grounds were a little cleaner, but it was still a mediocre paint job at best. The painter told me he got in trouble when I emailed Certapro & asked me to call him next time not to email the office. I paid them the agreed upon fee & was glad just to have them gone until the next day when my husband was mulching our back patio garden and discovered that one of them had defecated (yes, #2!) next to our house and covered it with a rock. He had to clean this up the best he could with a hose and some disinfectant. If you value your property do not use Certapro.

I aid for two coats and I did not get two coats. I know for a fact it wasn't done because I was home to see this. The garage doors and eves got one coat. When I asked about it the painter told me after paint dried he went over it again. It was done in a day and a half. The back door has one coat and he did not paint outside of front door. The painter was nice but seemed to be in a hurry to get the job done. I didn't complain to the company because I didn't want to cause trouble. I learned not to have them paint anything at the house again.

Initially the entire project was a fiasco. Not only did the painting crew NOT properly clean and prep the home ( a brief power wash was done...no scraping or anything else performed at the time) but when the 2 men came to paint, they started painting it white (not the new taupe I had selected) and on top of that were spraying the paint ( I had specifically asked for 2 coats of HAND painted painting!). The entire home was completed in one day and when my husband saw the poor job they had done, he asked them to come back and do better prep work and recaulk/repaint certain areas. The men came back the next day and did some additional work, but they had to be told to put down drop cloths, left paint chips all over my new landscaping and dumped out the few paints chips they had on their dropcloths under my pine tree in the front yard!! Within a week my front door and all of the shutters were peeling and other areas of the home had not gotten any paint, let alone 2 coats! I paid the men in full and filled out an extensive "customer feedback" sheet that was included with an envelope that the main painter asked me to give to him for him to turn in, so I did so. I explicitly described the entire fiasco on the feedback sheet , fully expecting an immediate reply as soon as the envelope was opened, but no call! And no call for close to a week, when I had to call CertaPro to see if they'd received the feedback sheet and check. They said yes they had and wanted to know more. FINALLY, after a few more days pass, I get a call from Regis and he has me speak to a quality control person.Other issues arise from that point, in that the "real painters" just show up at my house...no phone call to let me know they are coming. My husband just happened to be at home when they showed up and was able to point out all of the problems. Regis was very concerned and professional and was on site when the "real" painters, Ed and his partner, showed up to correct everything. The sad thing is, there was never any further response or contact to see if the job was done to my satisfaction. I hope my case was a once in a lifetime event for Certapro, but I will not ever use them again nor recommend them.

The sales associate, Landon, came to the house and was extremely polite and professional. We went over want I wanted to have completed and he had me a quote within a few minutes. The quote was the lowest that I had received and after reading on the reviews on Angie?s List about them, I decided to go ahead with the project. I was then contacted by Hannah about scheduling a color consultation and did so. Really nothing special, the designer was nice and agreed that the colors my wife and I picked would work well. I was then told by Hannah that the painters would be out on Thursday to pressure wash. They showed up without any notice and began to work. They told me they would begin the next morning, no specific time. They arrived around 1030 or so, laid drop cloth on the porch and taped it off and began to spray the house. About an hour into it, the spray gun broke. They spent about an hour messing with it got it working but it broke again so they started using brushes and little rollers. By little rollers I mean the ones that are about the diameter of a quarter and 4-6 inches wide. They finished up late on Friday and I heard nothing from them and they packed up and left. They arrived around 0930 Saturday morning and started painting. We noticed they started painting the corner trim the same as the body color so we let them know that the corner trim and all trim should be our 2nd color, not the same as the house. They were here for about 10 hours and it seemed like they accomplished a lot. They contacted me on Sunday to let me know they would not be out until Wednesday due to the weather which was understandable. They showed up Wednesday morning and began to work. Around 1540, they asked me to walk around the house and look at it and also asked me to open the man door to the garage so they could paint it. I did a quick walk around and told them that there were a lot of places that had problems but that I had to leave for about an hour and would be back. Since my door was open, I was unable to set my alarm to my house. I returned an hour later to find that the painters were gone, my door was wide open and judging by the leftover paint that was left, I assumed they had completed their job. There were many issues that I had: Visible brush marks on metal flashing/venting; venting on the side of the house was white, they painted it green but it had green, white and brown color on it; the paint was extremely light in many areas since they only applied one coat and then went back to touch up areas instead of actually doing 2 full coats; brush marks from the trim on the body (different color); drips on my carport roof flashing (a lot of drips); runs on my porch railings; exterior plug covers and exterior faucets painted on and over. From a distance, the house looks good and it?s the upgrade our house needed. However, up close it is a sloppy job in many places and it seemed like once the sprayer broke, they were rushing a lot. When I hire a professional painter, I expect it to look cleaner than what I can do myself. Where paint is cut in or trim is a different color than the body, there should be nice clean lines. I also expect a job to be completed where I should not have to complain at all and it should be done correctly the first time. I contacted Landon to express my displeasure with the quality and lack of communication and he assured me that he would take care of it and he would contact me in the morning to come out and look at my concerns. Instead, Mario (the paint team leader who I had not met yet) contacted me the next morning and said he was going to be out in about an hour to walk around the house with me. About an hour and a half after receiving that call, Frank, the production manager contacted me and stated that he would come out as well. Mario showed up in the morning and walked around with me to see all of my complaints. I pointed out some of the major things and he corrected some of them and told him I would discuss the rest with Frank when he came out. Frank came out later in the day and walked around the house with me and noticed the same issues that I did and was not satisfied with the work that was completed. He told me that he will be in contact with the scheduler and crew and have them back out to correct the problems. On Monday, I was notified by Hannah that the painters would be out on Tuesday around 1030 or so and Frank would be out to go over everything with them shortly after. The painters who originally painted and Mario arrived around 0930. Mario asked me to show him some of the issues and they began working. Frank arrived around noon and pointed out some issues to Mario that needed to be corrected. The crew worked non-stop until around 1400 and I did a final walk-around. The coat looked much better and from what I could see, all of the major issues were corrected. Some of the minor issues still exist but I just wanted it to be done so I signed off and paid them. The painters should pay more attention to detail when painting. They should be better prepared and not rush the work. There should also be better communication between the paint crew and the customer and possibly a little more communication between the office and the customer just to check in and see how things are going while the project is being worked. As I stated previously, this should not have been this much of an issue. I should have been able to have them do the job, pay them and then be done. Instead, it was a hassle that caused unnecessary stress on me. I should not have needed to have them correct issues and redo work that should have been done properly in the first place. But, since they cut corners and sacrificed quality for time, it turned into a bad experience. On a positive note, everyone that I spoke to was extremely polite and professional. They kept saying that they wanted to do whatever to fix the issues and make me happy. They fixed the major issues and I am now at least satisfied with the work. Unfortunately, because of all the issues, I am not ?happy? with the experience or the work but I am at least satisfied enough with the outcome. I will recommend CertaPro to others I know but will share the negatives of my experience. I would also consider hiring them again for some possible interior work in the future as long as the same crew didn?t show up.

Dear [Member name removed], I would first like to apologize for your experience. This is not typical of our work. I appreciate your candor. We take your comments very seriously. We have discussed your experience with the painting crew that was assigned your home so that they adjust their methods to not allow such an experience to reoccur. We are very appreciative of your willingness to provide us the opportunity to serve you again, in spite of your recent experience,. I assure you we won't let you down twice. It was a great experience I was concerned about how the trim was looking as it had not been painted in many years and they even went the extra mile to sand it down and get it looking perfect to my satisfaction. This is my second time using Certapro...and both times I've been very pleased. They are committed to customer service and to excellence. The project was seamless from beginning to end. Dale was the lead of the team and he was FANTASTIC to work with. It was clear he was knowledgeable about the job. He communicated well, was professional, worked with my schedule, and completed the job in a timely manner. The crew with him was Joanne, Corey, and Damian, and they were equally wonderful. They worked with excellence, courtesy and kindness. When the job was completed, they left the property with things cleaned up well. I cannot thank Dale and his team enough for making this job so easy for me as the customer. I highly recommend this company...and especially the crew that I had the privilege to work with. Thank you, Thank you!

CertaPro Painters painted portions of the interior of our house over a period of 7 days. They painted walls, ceilings, and trim. The painter that they sent to us was Robert, and he was excellent. There were some communication issues with the painters themselves, which led to some areas painted incorrectly. They had to come out twice to spray for dirt. They came out the first day but quit early with no explanation. They finished the next day but we found some drips. I also had to prompt them to clean up the paint scrapings which were all over the patio. At one point I started sweeping it to so they would know what I expected. Overall the house looks lovely and I would use them again.

When we called CertaPro, a representative came out to give us an estimate within 24 hours. We had some construction repair work that needed to be done before the painting and the CertaPro scheduler coordinated everything with the construction company so that the complete job went smoothly and without any scheduling problems. When our crew of painters arrived, they introduced themselves and consulted with us on our color choices. They then did the power washing, quickly and efficiently. They arrived a couple of days later and started the painting process. Once again, they painted a small area to be sure the colors met with our approval and then proceeded with the job. The crew arrived every morning at the appointed time and worked long days with very few breaks. Other than a couple of weather delays, they worked continuously until the job was completed. We did a final inspection with the crew supervisor and reviewed their work. They scraped all paint off the windows and cleaned up the whole area before leaving. The CertaPro office staff and painting crew were very friendly, they stayed in constant communication with us at every stage of the job and made sure we were satisfied with their work. We have a contemporary style house with many different peaks and elevations on a steeply sloping lot. The crew did a marvelous job of reaching every corner and surface of the outside of the home without causing any damage or mess. We would not hesitate to have them work for us again
Description of Work: CertaPro Painters painted the entire outside of our cedar siding house, including trim work. They also caulked around all windows and trim as needed. They did two coats on all surfaces. Also included was a power washing of the whole outside of the house prior to the painting.

We hired certapro to paint our house (new build) on all three floors. We had the colorist come out and help us pick colors and she was very helpful. The painters came out and spent 6 days painting. I must say that the job was sub par in every aspect. There are areas that remain unpainted as of today even though they have been out 3 times for touch ups. It really was a case of "let's see if they notice that we didn't paint this?" I had to check all the moldings around the doors because there were a few where they didn't bother to get out the small paint brush to paint the hard to hit areas. Abraham actually said "I don't have a small paint brush." When I said "Really?, he went out to the truck and got one. There are a couple of window sills that are not completely painted to this day even though this was on all 3 touch up lists. Their work is just poor all the way around. The painters didn't tape off very much of the molding areas and other areas that you would normally tape off. As a result, all the moldings and base boards have paint spots on them. The painters just tried to eyeball the trim work which resulted in poor results. The painters didn't use drop clothes every where and thus there is paint on our laminate floors and the linoleum. They did manage to keep it off the carpet thank the lord. The painters were careless when replacing air duct covers, light switch covers, and outlet covers. Many of the covers are missing screws. Not jut one screw here and there, I mean I am missing 20 screws through out the house and some plates just have a couple of screws holding them in. The metal air return vent covers were bent because they tightened the screw too much and it bent the mental. What really bothered me was that I tipped Abraham 240.00 total on the side over several days. I asked him to make sure his men did a good job and to double check them. He said he would and that this would help the guys because the only get "4.00 per hour." His words not mine. It really didn't help tipping him because I had to go through the house every day with Abraham and point out the problems. It was very exhausting. I am even more disappointed because Angie's List had them at an A rating with a bunch of good reviews. This company never performed anywhere close to an A rating. So my question is, "how is it possible that they performed so low? This wasn't just a bad day for the company, this is just a poorly managed organization that does shoddy work! In closing I really feel Angie's List misrepresents themselves and the companies on here. Therefore I won't be using Angie's List again. I had to wait until now to post this review because it took me this long to calm down enough to write an accurate review and not an emotionally charged one. Now Certapro will come on here and say I wish you would have called us and given us a chance to fix it. But believe me, I did. Three times they came out and touched up here and there. I still continue to find areas they missed but simply got tired of calling so I did the work myself.
Description of Work: Paint entire house. It was a new build with very little furniture in it. I moved all the furniture into the center of the room so they could paint. We had not moved in yet, so Certapro had the run of the place.
