Bockrath Heating & Cooling

My blower motor on my furnace was leaking oil and was in need of replacement. I had purchased the parts myself from an HVAC supplier with the intent of installing them myself, but I didn't trust my own abilities when I saw all the wires that could potentially be crossed in there. I tried calling several of the "major" HVAC services in my area but they all flatly refused to install any parts that I did not buy from them. I sent a message to Bockrath and within a couple of hours I got a response message that they would work with me. The next morning I got a call from them asking if that afternoon would work for me. Absolutely it would! Chris and his assistant/apprentice arrived a little bit late, but I do not fault them for this because they did call me and let me know they were running behind so I give them credit there. Less than an hour later my new blower motor was installed and everything was running as they should be. I would definitely call these folks again!

My gas furnace had been malfuctioning for about 5 days. It would come on and then shut off before reaching the desired temp. The fans were blowing cool air instead of warm and the thermastat had an error message. I joined Angie's list, read the reviews and called on Wed. at 3:00 p.m.. Denny was very helpful and scheduled my call for early the next morning so I would not have to miss any work. They arrived even a little earlier than I expected and were very friendly and efficient. My issue was fixed in well under an hour. We had been doing extensive remodling in our basement and the system was full of drywall dust and debris. Although we had changed the filter the system needed a deep cleaning in order to run. I highly recommend them and will use them again.

They left our basement cleaner than it was before they got here! The job was done beautifully and perfefctly and we will call Bockrath Heating and Cooling for all of our HVAC needs. We have had two very poor experiences with unscruplulous HVAC dealers in the past, so we are thrilled to have found a trustworthly company. They do business the right way and I give them all an A PLUS! Having this referral alone was well worth the cost to join Angie's list!

I first called the company I have a contract with and they would not give any pricing over the phone. They had just done the annual servic one this a little over a month ago so that is concerning. I have had horrible experience with them in the past so it wasn't worth using them even though I was on contract. I called Bockrath this morning and he was here at 1:00. The two guys were very knowledgeable and proffessional. They identified the real issue and fixed it since it was installed incorrectly. He mentioned he always believes approaches all his jobs the same as how he would want his own equipment repaired. After the nightmare with the other company Bockrath is a breath of fresh air. I was concerned all HVAC companies were the same, but Bockrath is by far one of the best I have worked with. I feel very comfortable I now have a reputable comapny to work with who will not rip me off.

Chris the technician arrived promptly the day I called, he found out that the humidifier was wired wrong and had never worked so he completely rewired it, and at the same time did a furnace check and eliminated a vibration problem we had been having when our furnace started up. The humidity in our house is now up to 43% and we are much more comfortable thanks to Bockrath. I plan to have them out again in the spring to check out our A/C.

For a few days we have heard a whistle coming through the duct work when the furnace is on. I used Angie's List to find a company to help and called Bockrath first. When I did not get an answer, I assumed they were closed for the holiday and called another vendor and scheduled an appointment. To my surprise, Denny Bockrath called me back (based on caller ID) just a few minutes later. When I told him I made an appointment with another company, he still took the time to engage me in conversation about the reason for my call. He suggested that I change the furnace filter (although it is only 3 weeks old). This morning I changed the filter and there is not more whistle! Denny may not have made any money off of this situation (my $20 went to Home Depot for the filter) but he earned a customer. There is no doubt in my mind that Bockrath Heating & Cooling will be my first call (and even second call if there is not answer - LOL) the next time I need help with our system.

I was having difficulty getting serious and consistent "reviews" on the local HVAC companies. I joined Angie's list and discovered Bockrath HVAC. Could they possibly live up to the reviews? Denny Bockrath came out the day after I called. He did not assume the existing system was properly sized but did a serious evaluation, took measurements, and asked lots of questions about how the current system performed (current bills, home insulation, windows, cold spots, hot spots etc). Once he determined the need, at my request, Denny provided two quotes (better and best?) and discussed the merits of each. He did not try to move me to the more expensive but actually leaned me toward the lesser expensive Tempstar! Denny took his time and answered all my questions. We set the installation for the following week and Denny told me exactly what to expect. The following week Chris and Nathan showed up ready to work. I asked them if they could reposition the furnace slightly, place the humidifier on the opposite side of the furnace from where it was and turn the 50 gal water heater to allow better access than I had on the old one. They accomplished all of this perfectly and within the original quote. Chris and Nathan were friendly, respectful of our home and extremely professional. Not only does the new system work extremely well but it looks great. Everything is aligned, evenly spaced, and accessible. When Chris and Nathan replaced the lines between the AC and furnace, they re-routed them between two ducts, more work for them but much better for us as they are hidden from view. They finished the job in two days as planned, instructed me on the thermostat, humidifier and high efficiency filter, took all the old equipment and parts and vacuumed and cleaned the entire area. The system is a big improvement. The temperature is more consistent, the system is quiet, and the furnace rarely kicks into "high". It is too early to tell but I suspect we will be saving money on gas and electric based on the increased efficiency and the way the system functions. Chris and Nathan were great. Denny took personal interest and came out each day to check on the progress. He submitted the paperwork to Duke and to Tempstar for the rebates. And he called a week after install to see how things were going. We could not be more pleased. Best of all, there were no surprises! I highly recommend Bockrath HVAC.

Excellent. Bockrath's tech was very thorough and knowledgeable. This is the second company I called and had look at the furnace. The first company (I have a review in their profile) was here for 30 minutes and told my wife, I was not home, that the furnace was ruined and needed to be replaced. Needless to say this was the best money I have spent in a while as a thorough cleaning and filter replacement has the furnace running as good if not better than ever. Very honest company that will forever get my business and recommendations to others.

We originally contacted Bockrath (based on their Angie's List ratings) to do a clean and inspection of our 20-plus year old furnace and heat pump. They spend almost 4 hours inspecting and cleaning it. They showed us all the issues and were VERY knowlegable. Based on their findings, they recommended replacement. They gave us a range from basic to top of the line. We went for the best Tempstar unit based on estimates of efficiency and some available rebates. They recommended a complete duct cleaning with Hi-Tech (also top notch service). Then we set a time for the new heat pump installation. They were right on time and worked non-stop for a day and a half. The installation included having to replace major sections of wiring and other additional tasks, which they did NOT charge extra for, staying with their original estimate. Every aspect of the installation was top notch- these are master craftsmen who take pride in their work. Every connection, wire, and duct is installed with perfect alignment- there are no rough edges, hanging wires, etc. They were utterly professional in every way, and obviously took pride in doing the job RIGHT. The new system works amazingly well- the house is MUCH warmer at a thermostat setting 5 degrees LOWER than before, and uses 20% less energy! It's possible that another contractor might have done it a few dollars cheaper, but I simply can't see how it could be done any better.

I contacted Bockrath Heating and Cooling regarding my humidifier issues. They sent out some technicians who quickly diagnosed our issue. We agreed to have a new, larger whole house humidifier installed. They did a very good job with the installation. At the conclusion of installation they thoroughly explained the operation of the new unit. So far we are completely satisfied.

The person quoting the job took the time to answer all of my questions and showing me where the ducts should be located and where they would tie into my existing duct work. The person who did the work arrived on time and was very pleasant. He also was very patient with all of my questions. What most impressed me was that the installer worked steadily, but I didn't sense a rush to get the job done. The quality of the work was exceptional even where it was quite difficult to connect the new ducts into the old system. I also liked that they taped all of the seams on the ducts they installed. This indicated to me that all of their work was done correctly. I was completely satisfied with my entire experience.

Overall I am completely satisfied with the work performed. I like the fact that the installers will be the same technicians servicing the unit. Chris knew right away what was causing the problem because he was one of the installers and knew the setup. What sold me on using this company wasn't just the price(I had 5 quotes), but the treatment I received from the owner, Denny. I will recommend Bockrath HVAC to family and friends.

We decided to replace old equipment in a condo we recently moved into. After four bids, we chose Bockrath because they were thorough in their review and estimate. They were not the cheapest,bid, but were very professional and offered the best equipment for the price, We were pleased with their efficient workmanship. We expect to see lower energy bills in the future.

My heat pump seemed to be working overtime. Could not get to the set temperature and ran all the time. I JUST got new CHAMPION windows so this should not have been happening. I called Bockrath Heating & Cooling for a check-up. Chris was running late as the previous job ran over but called immediately to let me know he would be an hour late. Was very sweet and checked everything out and got us up to a better performance. Very happy with their services!

The overall experience was great. Everything is working great. They were very professional. The gentleman that came to our house - Denny - was thorough in noticing ventilation issues with my old system and ways he could improve the overall airflow in my home. Their price was middle of the road and I chose them based on their experience.

He was forthright and a nice enough guy. They were clean and neat. The thing I didn't like was that he had one installer so it took several days as opposed to having a two-man crew and knocking it out within a day. It is a small outfit. He was punctual but it took several days.

It was a good visit. Chris came out to review everything and told that the heat pump needed to be recharged and that I needed to start "saving my pennies" for a new furnance/heat pump system. He said that he would have Denny call me to give me an estimate of what it would be. He did and I believe that the prices are fair and competitive. I think that I will be calling them for future service :)

Denny Bockrath and his highly professional and experienced install team of Ken and Nathan provided a high-quality install of a new high-efficiency heat pump system in my home. Denny provided a very good explanation of the various heat pump systems and provided several options. He replaced an existing 18-year heat pump with a new modern and TEMPSTAR dual stage system. The work was very nicely done, including both the inside air handler and outside compressor and condenser unit. The system is working very well and runs very quiet compared to the old system. I could not be more satisfied with the splendid results. Denny''s team was very professional, arriving the first day right on time and they worked very deliberately and efficiently. You won't get a rushed, hurry up job with Denny and his crew. It is very evident that they take pride in their work taking their time and leaving the area as clean and neat as when they came. They brought up to code all electrical connections inside and out and installed new boxes, wiring and equipment . They made improvements in the cold air return system ducts to improve efficiency and performance of the system. They added a very nice drain, a monitoring system and cleaning system and even provided a built in tray/pocket for all the manuals and warranty information. Denny took care of getting all the paper work for the manufacturer rebate, the Duke Energy rebate and the supporting documentation for the federal residential energy tax credit. Bockrath was great to work with. Chris was going to be few minutes late and he called to let me know that. He was courteous and knowledgable. He explained to me the problem with the air duct before fixing it. I will certainly be using them to service our new house and highly recommend them.

The owner of Bockrath Heating & Cooling, Denny Bockrath, came to our house to give us an estimate. He was very helpful and spent a lot of time explaining all of the different options we could choose from, and explained which ones were more energy-efficient and would qualify for the tax credit. What I was most impressed with was the owner's honesty and integrity. We asked him if a heat pump system -- which would have been significantly more expensive than a regular furnace and central air -- would be a good choice for our house. He said that it would NOT be a good choice for us, and explained why, and then said, "Of course I'd like the extra $2,500 for putting in a heat pump, but the extra expense is honestly not going to be worth it for you." I was truly amazed at his honesty. A lot of service providers take the opportunity to get that extra money, even when the customer doesn't need what they're selling. Denny Bockrath did NOT do that, and I am very impressed with that and have been telling people about it ever since. Their estimate was the lowest of the companies we got quotes from, and the quality of the equipment and the service they provided was top-notch. They were very professional and great to work with. They mailed the documentation for the energy-efficient appliance tax credit right away, which I appreciated. I recommend Bockrath Heating & Cooling wholeheartedly.

They did a great job. They came when they said they would come and took care of the problem. They were a local and a small company but we were impressed with them.

They started in the morning, and the new furnace was up and running by late afternoon.
