Dryer Vent Wizard of Greater Cincinnati

The work was done well, but I felt it was incomplete. As stated above, other companies in the past had no problem moving the dryer and running a vacuum down the short flexible pipe from the dryer to the wall. It's not hard to remove. Also, after approximately 40 minutes work from arrival to departure, they presented me with an additional bill for $36. Given that I had purchased $150 worth of services previously as part of the big deal, the total came to $186---for a dryer vent cleaning. Others had quoted a price (all inclusive) of $109-$129 for a cleaning and inspection. In short, they seem to charge far more than others. Essentially, I paid $115 for the service, saving little or nothing--not at all what I expected. I

Doug was very professional. He also was honest in what I needed for future service. He definitely did not try to sell me on unnecessary repeat service. Doug educated me on the current and end speed after he was finished and how to know when the flow was under par. I now have a very good idea of when the dryer vent needs cleaning again. He explained what he did and he cleaned up the floor around the dryer, including behind it and under it. I appreciated his professionalism and dedication to his work.

He was nice. I just don’t’ understand that when Lowes put it the washer and dryer they didn’t do it correctly. Dryer Vent Wizard said it shouldn’t have been metal instead of plastic.

Called and scheduled right away, even asked that if I approved of the estimate, could they do the work right there and then. Gave me a great estimate, included the Angie's List discount. Had the work done within an hour and always let me know along the way what he'd be doing and answered any questions that I had. No issues, straightforward and thorough. Would definitely hire again!

*****I needed to update and revise this review since I just went to my recycling bin (2 days after the service) and found that, without asking me, the service man put the old dirty, disgusting dryer vent full of lint and dirt into my recycling bin so I now have to dig it out from the other things i have in there and dispose of it properly. I'm pretty annoyed. The bin is clearly marked as a recycling bin and not a trash container. I had to pay an extra $129 that I hadn't expected and now i get to clean up his mess. Yuck. I'm really tired of being "surprised" by messes left by service people at my home. Beyond that, please see my other comments below. Changed the "professionalism" from A to C as a result of this.****** went reasonably well. the only little glitch was that i bought a "big deal" dryer vent cleaning and found out that the type of vent i had couldn't really be cleaned but needed to be replaced. so, i ended up spending another $129 to replace the dryer vent. on the other hand, it looks beautiful and i like it much better than what was there before, so probably worth it in the end. just unexpected. overall, i was very pleased with the work and their availability, etc...also really appreciated that he didn't leave a mess behind.

Doug was on time and very professional. He told me what I needed and performed the service well. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to call them again.

I cannot say enough nice things about Doug. He was courteous, professional, friendly, a fast worker, punctual and he knew exactly what he was doing. He took particular care in cleaning up after his work. It was a big plus to have the work done the same day as the estimate. Please note the cost of $284.70 doesn't include the price of the coupon $79. In my opinion, this is extremely reasonable for the work performed. I spent the rest of that afternoon on Angie's List pulling off prospects for the other jobs on my husband's list :)

Purchased a Big Deal Coupon for dryer vent cleaning from Dryer Vent Wizard in mid July. Contacted Edward Rauch on 4 Aug and left a voicemail message requsting to schedule an appointment. He called back and spoke with my wife saying he could come out on Monday, 8 Aug at 8:00am, to which she agreed. At 8:45 on 8 Aug, I received a call from John (serviceman) saying he'd be there by 9:00am. So much for punctuality. Once he arrived, John inspected the dryer, its associated connections and the vent exhaust opening. After a few minutes, he returned with a list of items that he recommended repairing to the tune of just under $300 (new vent opening with added sheathing, new aluminum connector hose, elbow wall connector fitting) and described the usual gloom and doom dryer fire hazards. I declined the repairs and told him I had a Big Deal coupon and just wanted the basic cleaning. Surprisingly, none of the cleaning involved the connector hose or the vent on the back of the dryer itself (I expected it would in order to maximize the dryer output flow, which he determined to be low). All told, it took about 20 minutes to complete the job. When the bill was presented, there was a $129 charge for vent cleaning and an additional $49 "diagnostic inspection" charge (which John had initially referred to as a "trip charge", related to the cost of showing up). After taxes were added, the total amounted to $186.39 (remember 20 minutes worth of work) and with the $150 Big Deal credit (purchased for $79), I was left with an additional balance of $36.39. Now I'm not one to complain regularly (this is my first in 4 years with Angie), but there was something that just didn't sit well with me regarding the $49 "diagnostic inspection" fee / "trip charge" fee. First off, which one is it and why was it referred to using two different terms? Second, if it's a "diagostic fee", why did the bulk of this fee mostly involve John's diagnosis of costly "add-on" repairs? The ONLY diagnosis that I saw performed related to vent CLEANING was his use of a flow meter to determine the speed of the air coming out of the vent, both before and after cleaning. He never removed the dryer hose to inspect it or where it connects to the wall. To me, this seemed like a somewhat incomplete job and not what I fully expected (like taking your car in for an oil change and having to change the oil filter on your own afterwards). In the end, while I'm glad that my dryer vent is clean (according to the increase in flow rate), I think I'll be looking elsewhere for dryer vent cleaning in the future, regardless of any Big Deal coupons that may be associated with Dryer Vent Wizard.

I was having my walls painted. While he was there, he looked at my dryer. He said that when he was outside he noticed that something wasn’t right. He said there was a small door or flap that was missing. After he fixed it, I noticed that my clothes weren’t getting dry. I called Dryer Vent Wizard to come out to check out the problem. He charged me $300 and other reviews I found on Angie’s List weren’t paying that much. He went outside and when he came back he told me it was a new installation but never explained what was installed. After he left, I was still having trouble with wet clothes. I eventually decided to call an appliance repair company to check the dryer The appliance repair company checked the vents and brought it back to me showing a clogged vent. Dryer Vent Wizard had assured me that he checked all of the vents and none of them were clogged. The appliance repair company fixed the problem that I paid Dryer Vent Wizard $300 to fix. I later called Dryer Vent Wizard back and told the receptionist. She said that she would report it to the owner and I never heard anything back. I wasted $300 for nothing!

Our laundry room is situated between the garage and family room. As such, the dryer vent passes through a long vent between the family room floor and the ceiling of the lower level out to the backyard. Also, the connection from the dryer to the vent is not parallel and we had used an aluminum foil coiled vent to connect the dryer to the wall vent. We knew it could be a fire hazard since the coiled aluminum could be collecting lint in the "S" shape that we had to create to vent the dryer. Using a coupon and advice from friends, I called Dryer Vent Wizard. The technician came out and pulled the dryer from the wall and the coiled aluminum was full of lint. He got to work and cleaned the vent from the laundry room wall through to the outside vent. I was shocked at the amount of lint that was trapped in the vent. The entire vent's length is about 12 feet. He also made a new vent for the dryer connection to the laundry room wall out of smooth aluminum custom-fitted to the dryer and wall. He cleaned the dryer which was also full of lint even though I clean it periodically. With his new custom connection, he was able to push the dryer closer to the wall which I wanted all along. He attached a new vent trap to the brick outside that only opens when the dryer is being used. He cleaned everything up very nicely with his vacuums and that completed the job. Since we have had the new vent attached to the dryer and the existing long vent thoroughly cleaned, the time it takes to dry a full load of towels has gone from 90 minutes to 40 minutes. We are no longer afraid that the lint will cause a fire and are saving money as well. This was a great experience and I would recommend it for anyone who has a long vent to the outside wall or if you have a dryer vent that is not exactly parallel to the laundry room wall vent.

The work process took as long as I was told it would; the technician was respectful of my home and kept things clean and neat.

Very smoothly. Doug arrived on time, was very pleasant and professional. He removed the old connection and replaced it with a new one that was safer. I have been using this company since June 15, 2009 and have always been more than satisfied with their work.

It went well. The owner of the company promptly returned my call. It took me a while to get back with him, but when I did he was able to set up an appointment fairly quickly (within a couple of days). They were running a little late, but called to let me know (I think they were about 20 minutes late). The technician they sent was very professional and explained the service before giving me a quote on both cleaning the vent itself as well as replacing the vent. I agreed to the quote and the service took about an hour and a half.

They made the appointly quickly and arrived on time. The arrangement specified that additional work might be required. The dryer venting was old and cracked so they replaced it for only a small additional charge. The work was done professionally and well, they cleaned the area afterwards. I was thrilled with the result...only one dry cycle per load.

The company was professional from start to finish. I was very pleased with the service. The rep fixed a problem I had with a vent going under my deck and didn't charge me anything extra. I would recommend them to anyone.

First, let me start by saying that we were not having any issues with our dryer, but after Angie's List put out a coupon I decided to go ahead and get our dryer vent cleaned. After all, it hadn't been cleaned or even looked at for nearly 14 years (why bother cleaning it if the dryer was working fine?). Tech showed up within the time window they quoted on the phone, and was very friendly. He inspected our dryer and measured the airflow exiting the vent outside the house at 7.3 mph. He commented that he was surprised that we were not having issues drying clothes with the airflow that low (to be quite honest, I figured that was probably part of the sales pitch since I hadn't yet seen his quotation or agreed to the service, but more on that later). I was a little surprised that the quote was $210, but since I already had purchased the Angie's List coupon (great deal, $79 for $150 worth of service), I went ahead with the service. He probably spent about an hour doing the service, and was very thorough. I was surprised that he filled a large bucket with lint and crud that collects inside the vent line (it is about a 30 foot run from the dryer to outside). Once he was done he again measured the airflow and this time it was running at 19.5 mph, an increase of nearly threefold!! He commented that we should see a decrease in our drying time, and today my wife did laundry and sure enough, a normal load now drys about 10 minutes faster!!! Overall, he was on time, professional, happily answered questions, and cleaned up after the job. I'm sure that I would not have done this service as I 'thought' our dryer was working fine but since I had already purchased my coupon, I went ahead with it and sure am glad I did. Whether or not I have a coupon in the future, I will be calling Dryer Vent Wizard out again to keep dryer running at peak efficiency, and help us avoid a potential dryer vent fire. Very satisfied this was money well spent.

From the time I scheduled the appointment through the completion of work, I could not have been more satisfied with this company's work. Adam performed the service after reviewing the situation and providing an estimate. I can't speak to whether the price was good, bad, or somewhere in the middle because I chose to work with them without getting other estimates mostly because of other reviews here. Adam explained what he was doing, did a fantastic job replacing a section of my dryer vent line and cleaned up after he was done. I'd highly recommend Dryer Vent Wizard!

Dryer Vent Wizards were absolutely wonderful! My dryer had been running hot and taking a long time to dry clothes so I knew there was a problem. Adam came out on Saturday for the estimate and knew immediately that a simple cleaning would not solve the problem. He returned on Monday with the Company owner and another technician, found a break in the vent and fixed it, only to find there still wasn't air flowing to the outside. They tracked down a second break and fixed it, resulting in great air flow. They were able to find the breaks with minimal cuts into the drywall ceiling (don't ask me how because the vent line goes about 12-15 feet from the front of the house to the vent opening in the back, with multiple 90 degree turns). And, they provide a drywall expert to repair the drywall. I cannot say enough good things about this Company, Adam, Ed and their team. They were totally accommodating, arranging to work on Monday evening so I wouldn't miss work. They not only did the job for the original estimate (despite the extra time/effort it took to find the second break), they gave me the Angie's List 10% discount even though I had neglected to mention being a member at time of estimation. They cleaned up the mess from the repair work in the basement and Adam took extra care to vacuum the back of my dryer. Top quality work, very fair price, honest and nice people. I couldn't have asked for more!

My wife had found that our dryer was requiring multiple cycles to dry loads which used to dry in 1 cycle. Our laundry room had been moved from the basement to the first floor several years ago, and is now located centrally in the first floor, requiring a 25 foot vent line to the outdoors. The line itself actually sloped slightly up, so I knew it required correction, as well as cleaning. I had never used a dyer vent cleaning service before. Angie's list showed several with high ratings. However, nearly all of them did vent cleaning as a sideline, and had only 1 or 2 evaluations. Dryer Vent Wizard does nothing but dyer vent work, and had over 30 evaluations, all positive. They were the only ones I called. I made an appointment. He arrived on schedule, examined the line, from dryer to exit, told me what needed doing, and gave me a firm estimate. I OK'd it, and he did the work on the same visit. He measured air flow and temperature, at the vent's exit, before and after, and showed me the improvement. More importantly, my wife found the dryer can once again dry a load of laundry in a single cycle. He recommended the vent be cleaned every 3 to 5 years. (I had never had it cleaned in the 9+ years since it had been installed. I will certainly used him for the periodic cleanings.

This is a family-owned/operated company and they really seem to enjoy their work. Adam's team was a little late due to an earlier appointment requiring extra attention, but they called in advance to let me know they'd be arriving later. They inspected and tested our dryer that hadn't been drying at all and determined it was only pushing 4mph out the end of the clogged vent (due to neglect from the previous owner). After about 20 minutes of snaking out the vent and producing a horrifying shower of lint, they retested the dryer exhaust to a much-improved 21mph! Adam and his team cleaned up the area to perfection. Very professional and thorough.

Very well. Service provider assessed the situation efficiently, explained all options clearly, articulated pricing up front, and performed all work in a professional manner. The ductwork looks great, feels secure, and has made a major improvement to the basement, with the absence of lint and other detritus from dryer exhaust. I would recommend this company without reservation to anyone needing similar work.
