.The project started about two weeks after we had signed the contract, since they were finishing up other projects. The first few weeks went well. They were done with the demo work and framed out the new walls, replaced the drywall and ceilings. They had finished most of the basics including painting but no fixtures. About three or four weeks into the project was when the problems started. They stopped showing up every day. Then they would stop showing up for a week or two. The project manager had one excuse after another. We had some delays in delivery of our kitchen cabinets. They would say they were waiting for those to come in, even though they had days if not weeks of work left to do besides installing the cabinets, not to mention the cabinets sat in our garage for two weeks before the showed up to install them. At this point we had sold our previous house and had a moving date of early May. Remember, it was supposed to be done in April? Nope, not even close. We had to pester them constantly to get the cabinets done before we moved in. The day we moved in the cabinets were in but we had our huge slab of granite blocking most of them as the countertops were not installed. Someone came to install carpet as our movers were bringing our furniture in, getting in their way and slowing things down. After we moved in, the project pretty much stopped. It was maybe 75% done, if that. They still had a ton of finishing work, countertop install and still had to tear down and reinstall the wood tongue in groove ceiling on our sunroom. They stopped showing up - for the entire summer. There were countless unreturned phone calls and texts to the project manager. They basically ignored us. What they did was take on every project they could and they were obviously way overextended. Even during the time when they were showing up, the project manager was nowhere to be seen. We had to act as our own project manager since most of the time the subcontractors had no idea what they were supposed to be doing. When they finally came to install the countertops, they realized the cabinets were hung too low. Then they left one piece unglued and nobody seemed to want to take responsibility for it. Again, where was our project manager? Nowhere in sight. We noticed that they also cracked the granite on our island right in front of the sink, probably standing on it to work on the ceiling. Lucky for them we planned to remove that to install an apron front sink. They did agree to pay for the cutting. More time passed and eventually it was the fall, October. We still had that ceiling and roof to tear down and replace. They finally showed up to do that, and it took them all of 2 days. Months of waiting for two days work. The project was finally done. We had to argue over money at the end as well. They wanted to charge us nearly 4K to install the ceiling which took one day. WE eventually worked it out but only because they wanted to close their books on this project by the end of 2014. So what was supposed to be done by April 2014, when all is said and done and payments finalized it was nearly Christmas. I could go on and on into more detail on this, but the bottom line is that the customer service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. It was a simple case of someone biting off more than they could chew, and we ultimately paid the price for that. You know how people tell you nightmare stories about contractors? Well this one lived up to most of them. I can't say their work was terrible, though we did have to have them fix several things: a leaky faucet, never installed a P trap and gassy smell coming from our laundry room, installed the baseboards too low, cut too big of holes in the drywall for our pendant lighting, etch. Oh and the cracked granite. We had never used contractors before, at least not for a project of this size. We are mostly DIYers. We will be going back to that exclusively now, thanks to Hansen.
Description of Work: During the polar vortex in the first couple weeks of January 2014, we had a pipe burst on the second floor of our home. We had just closed on the house about one week prior, and were not living there yet. Thousands of gallons of water poured into our house over a couple days before we discovered it. The water damaged our kitchen, two bathrooms and the roof on our sunroom. Hansen came recommended from our insurance company. We had wanted to do some renovations to some of the damaged areas, so Hansen agreed to do the changes we wanted within our insurance quote. The original contract started in early March and was quoted to end near mid April, about a 6 week project.

[Member Name] is absolutely correct. We completely miss handled her project. For that we apologize. There is no excuse for what transpired. At the time we were inundated with floods, servicing over 150 clients at once. We do not like to turn people away, especially in a time of need, but in Mrs. Hoovers case we should have referred her to a company that could have better assisted her. We can never fully express how sorry we are for what happened, and giving her a bad experience with us. We hope [Member Name] can except our apology and take the above into consideration. Please call us with any additional questions and concerns. We would be happy to meet you needs.

.First of all, Hansen Restoration was the ONLY Contractor (out of 4) that returned my call and they did so within 30 minutes!!! Within 2 days, Mr. Hansen came to my home to talk to me about my project and take measurements. The next day I had an estimate. Shane, the project manager, visited me next and scheduled the renovation. I was given my "homework" of picking out fixtures, paint color, flooring, etc. with guidance from Shane (very helpful). The project went well. There was a delay with the arrival of the shower door which stopped work for 4 days. But, in the end the renovation was completed on time and the result was BEAUTIFUL! I've received nothing but compliments from family and friends. The only complaint is that most of the construction waste was not hauled away until the last day. I was so happy with my guest bathroom renovation that I called Hansen back to renovate my main bathroom upstairs. Again, Hansen responded quickly, sending son, Devin, to my home to determine the scope of work. My estimate again came to me the next day. John K was the Project Manager for this renovation. His attention to detail and his advice (I had no idea how to pick out a tub!!!) were exceptional. John, the contractor on site, also was fantastic! It was quite obvious that he took great pride in his work. Everything was installed beautifully. He cleaned up the debris everyday. The project was completed on time and again, I've received compliments from everyone! ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL RENOVATION! I will note that the cost of both projects exceeded the estimate because I CHOSE to upgrade. I feel that the estimates were thorough and fair. I would recommend Hansen Restoration and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Hansen restoration renovated my guest bathroom (new vanity and sink, new toilet, new shower door, new light fixture and new flooring) and hallway. Both areas were painted and a new floor installed. The hallway also needed drywall repair. A new door and doorframe was installed from the hallway leading into my family room. This renovation occurred in July/Aug 2014. In October I had Hansen return to renovate the main bathroom (new tub, new vanity and sink, new toilet, new light fixture, painting and new floor installed.

I cannot say enough good things about the people at Hansen. They were professional and on time. The quality of work was outstanding. They were very knowledgable in the structure of the house and how it needed to be repaired right the first time, and the estimate was extremely accurate. Hansen does a variety of repairs and with having an older home I am glad I found a contractor I can trust to get the job done.

It took approximately 2 weeks of full days of work. Bob was here each a.m. when he said he would be there and left after a full day of work. He was so polite, friendly, and very pleasant and knowledgeable about the work. At each step, we were consulted and given ample opportunity to give our opinion or insight into exactly what the outcome should be and what we had hoped for. He was considerate and cleaned up any debris from his demolition and installation. At the end, he took all items with him that needed to be taken to a disposal. The finished work on our bathroom exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with Hansen Restoration located on Stone Road in Medina, Ohio. This was our first experience with Hansen and we could not be more pleased and would recommend them for remodeling such as ours. Management came to check on the job and also, kept in touch with us by way of phone. .
Description of Work: Hansen Restoration removed an old bathtub, wall board, and flooring in our first floor main bath. The bath was then redone with beadboard on the lower half of the wall, electrical and dryer hookup for a washer and dryer was installed along with other outlets, and new shutoff valve and drain for the washer, dryer, vented to outside, and installed beautiful white ceramic tile throughout the bath.

My overall experience with Hansen Restoration can be summarized in one word... FANTASTIC!!!! From the first time that I met with the owner, Jim Hansen, I had a good feeling that the job would get done right and within my budget. Jim provided me with an estimate (which is exactly what I ended up paying) and his employees started the job that same week. The job was done quicker than expected and I was cooking in my new kitchen the very next week. I can't say enough about how great my experience was working with this company. Jim is a stand up guy and his employees are hard workers who know how to get the job done. I have recommended Hansen to my friends and family because I know that they will be in great hands. If you are looking to remodel without the headache, then use Hansen Restoration.

First off they were able to get a drying company to come out when no one else would call us back The estimate writer was very thorough and answered all our questions. The workmanship was/is very good. All involved were courteous to me and my family. Everyone involved with the whole organization was on time and had the work done within the timeframes laid out to me. Could not be happier with the service we received.

I wanted the roof re-shingled and had to go the route of a tear off first. With the aid of Hansen Restoration, the task was done without worries. Hansen showed up promptly and started the re-roof. Unexpectedly, the weather became threatening. The crew tarped the entire house, called in some additional staff and hustled to get the new shingles on. The driveway was lined with Hansen Restoration trucks. The rain never came but the extra efforts were very much appreciated. The knowledge and experience of the workers was fantastic and gave piece of mind.

I had Hansen remove and replace my cabinets, install ceramic floors, put in new counter tops, painted the walls ect. They kept very well to the scheduling promised. The kitchen was completed exactly when they told me it would be. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Whether it was a phone call or text, I was constantly informed of the status of my project. I really enjoyed my experience with Hansen and look forward to using then for the next project I have.

We had a water leak in our upstairs bathroom that leaked into the garage. I called Hansen, they came out the same day to provide me a quote and get everything dry. Within the same week the started the repairs. They did my drywall, insulation, painting and corrected the leak. The estimate writer Shane, was very knowledgeable and great to work with. I was back to normal in less then 2 weeks. They left everything even better then it looked before.

Hansen Restoration remodeled our master bathroom, they did a wonderful job. Not only was the craftsmanship better then I expected, they were polite, professional and a joy to work with. They worked with me through the entire process, showing me lots of options of things I could do to my bathroom and helping me pick out things to stay in my budget. I can't wait to have them do my kitchen next! I'll definitely be referring them to my friends and family.

He claimed that the estimate was an "accident" after I confronted him about other contractor's fees which I found for about $500.00. He told me I would never find a reputable contractor who would charge less than 1000.00.
Description of Work: He wanted to charge me about 1000.00 to install a couple hundred feet of quarter round and a couple thresholds. Buyer beware of unethical practices! The owner Jim Henson is a wealthy man and he wanted to gouge me. I'm a single, unemployed mom.

Dear [member name removed], I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We asked the provider to give an estimate for work on a home that we were purchasing (estimated scope of work $60 - $90k). The provider and an assistant were punctual, well dressed, and polite; however, after our in-person encounter, the estimate never came. After multiple emails asking for it (I had a deadline for a home equity loan program), I have since given up on receiving an estimate from this provider. If the provider were to have told me that an estimate was not forthcoming and explained why, I would not be as disappointed.

We apologize for any mix up in communication. Jim had left a message letting [removed member name] know we would not be able to complete the job discussed on the set deadline, due to the massive amount of floods and emergency services that we received in the beginning of May. Again, we apologize for any miscommunication on our part and thank [removed member name] for the opportunity to scope his job.

Went very well. They were on time, and finished in 2 days as promised. The work was done during a snowy week, and I liked the fact that they used cloth runners from their entry point into the house, all the ways upstairs to the bathroom. No snow or water tracked through the house. They let me specify the bathtub I wanted, as well as the faucet.

They were excellent. We picked them off of Angie's List. They were phenomenal. I couldn't be happier. His work was impeccable. The stone work was impeccable, never a bad work out of their mouth. It was zero degrees and these guys tented the area so that they could work. They worked in horrific conditions. They would come in and still smile. That's what kind of people they were. Amazing. They cleaned up every day after themselves. They never left a mess. They always checked in to say we are here. They would check in, hey we are leaving. Or we are going to leave for a little bit. I just to happen I got hurt up at work pretty severely and these guys were here during part of my recovery and they would actually poke their heads in and say hey do you need anything, can I get you something to drink. I couldn't walk. They were just very kind. They checked on me to make sure that I didn't fall, they didn't help me to the rest room but I knew if I really had to ask for help all I had to do was open the window and say hey can you guys give me a hand and they would. They were just really kind people. They worked in conditions that you don't let your dog outside and stay out that long. And these guys were out there replacing a window and replacing wood. I felt so bad for them because I knew they were very cold.

I was and am disappointed with the work that was done !..In the contract we were promised (exact wording ?) a nice looking soffit and fascia...What we got was aluminum that was all piece bent with a brake...The drop edge, soffit and fascia, do not look professional and I doubt that Jim would have wanted this on his house !!...We were promised by him that we would have a product that he would be proud to have on his own home....We are getting rain & soil splash on the windows despite gutters...I am just not happy with the project !...We have yet to apply ceiling as we are making sure that there is no more leaking ! Another problem is that we were promised proper mold abatement !...The workmen laid down a tarp (my husband did tell the to nevermind, because we had to refinish the floor anyway)...A tarp on the floor would not have stopped the mold that flew everywhere when they tore the roof off...We have been picking up nails and debris all year which flew when the roof was torn off !...I know that the men were working under cold conditions, but the job, in my opinion is just not professional ! Jim Hansen was very professional when he came out and gave us the estimate and we believed the contract and his promises !
Description of Work: Removed leaking, damaged, 25' x 11' patio enclosure roof which contained mold...They then had to rebuild with wooden rafters, sheathing, and rolled roofing...Replaced gutters, downspouts, soffit and fascia...There were several problems with workmanship, but problems were resolved and roof appears to be fine so far !...Jim Hansen was very professional, as was the team who tarped the roof before the work was done due to expected heavy rains ! roof from rains before the work could be done...The contracted workers on the roof however, lacked skill, in my opinion !

When my wife and I discovered the leak and the water damage, we were extremely disheartened and concerned about the damage. We used a (different) roofing contractor to replace the roof, but considering this is a second house that we are renovating to sell, we were worried about the cost and the extent of the damage. Hansen came in and took care of everything. They sent the owner of the company, Jim Hansen out to estimate the job. He reassured us that everything would be taken care of, and boy was he right. Sometimes contractors ignore you once you sign the contract, but not so with Hansen. The project manager for the job, Mike Morgan was top notch. He called when he said he would, and followed up when he needed to. He met us on our schedule, and was professional the entire time. He even stopped over and personally took all the trash from the renovation away from the house so we wouldn't have to deal with it (since we live an hour away from the property). The workers were highly skilled, courteous, and professional. And Mr. Hansen told us he stands behind his work and will transfer his warranty to any new owners that purchase the house from us once we're done remodeling. They did exactly what we needed them to do, and did it well. And I felt the price was very reasonable. I can't recommend this company highly enough.
Description of Work: While renovating a house we inherited from family to sell, we found a leak in the roof around the flashing on the chimney that went unnoticed for several years. The leak caused water damage to the walls, floors, and ceilings in the rooms adjacent to the chimney. As a result of the moisture, a colony of carpenter ants had moved in beneath the hardwood floor in one of the rooms where the water had seeped into the floor. We had Hansen repair the damaged 2x4s, floor joists, walls and ceilings. They had to remove the hardwood floor and replace the subfloor in that one room. They also had to replace the wood paneling on the family room wall around the fireplace. Basically they had to undo all the damage caused by the water leaking through the flashing.

Jim Hansen performed and wrote up the estimate promptly. Eric contacted us soon after and reviewed the job. He recommended using Allure interlocking flooring. So the next day my husband and I went to Home Depot and picked out 2 different patterns of vinyl tiles.Unfortunately one of the patterns (for the largest area - kitchen, etc.) was backordered for around 6 weeks. After waiting a short while (we didn't know how long it would be!), Eric started work on the other parts of the job. After the backordered tiles arrived, it was discovered that 2 more boxes would be needed. They only took a week to arrive. During the 2 months of work-in-progress, 9 days were spent working in the house. It seemed a little unorganized - someone saying he'll come back later to do something but didn't and I had to keep asking about things getting done. The work was good but I'm not sure that Allure flooring is the best product to use. Some of the tiles were defective (lumps of glue) and the glue (or something) smeared on some areas. We had a few 'bumps and scrapes' - small dent in fridge, wood chipped off a door, wall marks - but nothing big. Overall I'm happy with everything.
Description of Work: Installed new flooring and baseboards in 3 bathrooms, laundry, and kitchen. Patched and painted 2 dry wall cracks. Applied sealer to roof leaks. Installed a new garage door seal.

The storm on Monday, November 11, 2012 damaged the roof to the point that the entire roof had to be replaced. Hansen Restoration was called to place roof tarps on the roof to prevent further damage to the interior of the family room. The insurance company approved the replacement of the entire roof. But the number of property damages in the area delayed the work on the roof. Hansen made sure the interior was protected with the roof tarps. The actual replacement of the roof took two days after Hansen started working on the roof. The work was under the supervision of Mr. Jason Bruce. A true professional. Jason went above and beyond the work expected. In reviewing the work in the family room Jason was not satisfied with the work and he had the work redone. We are happy with all the work performed by Hansen Restoration.
Description of Work: Replaced the entire roof damaged during the storm Sandy after effects. Also, the ceiling in the family room had water damage.

They did a really good job. They were not the lowest price; they were a little bit higher.
Description of Work: I used Hansen Restoration to do a house remodel from September through November. They completely redid a whole house that was in pretty bad shape. They painted, replaced all the flooring and updated all the fixtures. Basically they turned a really crappy house into a brand new house. They redid the kitchen cabinets and the electrical.

Sean and Matt are two of the best contrators I have ever hired and I have hired many in the past. The job went smoothly and turned out beautiful. Will hire again if needed.
Description of Work: Removed everything from a 1971 master bathroom that has never be updated.

They came and gave us an estimate, we gave them the job, they showed up and completed the work and we are very pleased with the outcome...
Description of Work: Eric and Jim Hansen are great to work with, prompt and reliable. They subcontracted some of the work out to Joyce Construction who were also a great bunch. showed up on time always professional and left the area cleaner than they found it...I highly recommend these guys and plan on using them again in the near future...
